My daughter was thinking about buying an older home with foundation problems. They came out for no cost and looked over the foundation. Due to the condition of the house's foundation my daughter decided not to buy. Hunt Foundation Repaired saved her from making a huge mistake of buying a house that needed a lot of foundation work, not only with drainage but also fixing the pier and beams. Thank you all for your help! I will recommend you to anyone that needs foundation work.

We signed a contract for foundation repair with Coy Smithhart on 4/13/2013, we were told it would be about a month before the work could start due to the workload of G.L.Hunt. -The work was scheduled to start on Monday, May 20, 2013. -On 5/20/2013 @ 7:13 am I received a call to advise me the previous job took longer than expected and they would start on 5/21/2013. -5/21/2013-received call @ 8:30am to say: Home Depot did not have the lumber they needed and they had to go to another place to get lumber, David (who was the jobsite foreman) and Alex (who is David's nephew) with other workers showed up a little after 10am and worked until about 5:00pm. Alex said they would be back the next day. David left around 230pm he said he hurt his arm or hand. -5/22/2013- 2 workers showed up around 10am. A little after 12 Alex showed up with some other workers and the trailer with the materials for the piers. Alex left about 15 minutes later. Around 3pm Alex came back to pick up 1 worker and some jacks and left again. Around 530pm Alex came back to pick up workers and did a walk around. It was clear that the workers (since they were left with no person in charge) missed something that had to be done and the workers pulled tools (that were already packed up) and did some work to the Northwest corner of the job site. When that was done ? Alex knocked at the door and said they were done and wanted me to sign off on the checklist. I advised him that was supposed to be done by my husband and Coy when the job was complete. After my husband got home from work and we went out to see what they did, we were not happy and VERY disappointed to see what a crappy job they left behind. -5/23/2013-My husband called Coy and wanted to find out what the heck was going on since there are lots of pieces of un-treated boards propped up sitting on the ground holding up the house. Coy advised my husband that he would be out of town as well as David so a person by the name of Kenny Kincannon (who was the project manager and co-owner of the company) was going to come out on Saturday, May 25th @ 1:00pm to inspect the job site. -5/25/2013-David (who was supposed to be out of town) showed up at the house (no Coy or Kenny) and told my husband that those boards on the ground and under the house was temporary and Alex gave me wrong information on the 22nd as far as the job being done. David said all the blocking was temporary and they were supposed to come out a week after the piers were put in and remove all of the wood sitting on the ground. We waited the entire next week, no call from anyone at G.L Hunt to schedule the time to come out to finish the job. -6/3/2013 - I called G.L.Hunt to find out when they were going to come out and was informed that she had processed the paperwork that the job was complete. You can only imagine how livid I was. I sent to an email to the email on their website, the email address on a letter I received from them prior to the job starting with the "what to expect" and copied Coy (his email address was on his business card) to let them them know what was going on and I expected the job to be fixed and done correctly. Every email address was kicked back. I called the office again and she gave me Kenney's number and called him and he came out the same day to see job site. He gave me every excuse in the book as to the crap they left behind and said he would have a crew come back out the next day to fix it. p.s. he told me they had problems with their emails about a year ago and have never got them fixed. -6/4/2013 - Kenny, David and another worker came out to remove the temporary blocking and had to go the lumber yard and install 2 smaller new beams after they removed the temporary blocking (guess the job was REALLY never finished after all). -6/10/2-13 - We were tearing our the plywood flooring on the interior on t he house due to floor damage in the same corner where the temporary blocking mess happened and bumped into one the new beams, the entire beam moved and fell to the ground, shims and all which caused the 2nd new beam to shift and fall to the ground also. The beams were never nailed, screwed or secured to anything. I called Kenny (got his voice message) and informed him I was going to be calling the city inspectors office to come out and see what a mess they did. -6/11/2013 - I received a call from a Thomas (saying he was the companies superintendent) and he would come out and see what was going on. I told him I would call him when I was at home. He came out with another worker - again he had no excuses for what happened and they put the beams back into place and nailed them in. He informed me that someone from their office would call me to schedule yet another time for others to come out and secure the 40 feet of new beams they installed because those were not secured either and are currently just sitting on top of the new piers. Keep in mind everytime they have come out and put in new beams, shimmed and jacked up the foundation - they have not checked to make sure the house is level again. TO BE CONTINUED------- To sum it up, we selected G.L.Hunt because of the ratings on Angie'sList - Clearly the ratings don't serve any good purpose for the consumer. This company is a joke, nobody would want to experience what I am right now and I would not want anyone to experience this. Not many people go looking under their house after foundation work is done to ensure it was done right. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY..... And the city of San Antonio informed me they never pulled a permit to do the work.
Description of Work: The company was to install 15 new piers and 40 feet of new foundation beam.

I called G. L. Hunt based on other favorable reviews on Angie's List. Recently, my 15 year old tile floor in my foyer buckled. After first having the house checked for a leak in the slab (none), I needed to be sure a foundation issue was not the cause. Coy really went the extra mile to check everything and put my mind at ease. Since there was no problem, he didn't even charge me. I will definitely use in the future if I do have a problem.
Description of Work: Coy Smithhart did a great job for me. Measured foundation variances for entire house and assured me I didn't have a problem.

The foundation leveling itself went great. Work completed on schedule and all landscaping was replaced afterwards. However, the sprinkler system was damaged and we had to pay for the repair ourselves. We had believed this was supposed to be covered by the company themselves. Likewise the plumber who they send out to check for damaged pipes afterwards is not paid for either. We ended up hiring our own plumber to do the work.

I have a house built in 1960 in good shape, but have several hairline cracks in the terrazzo flooring that are getting bigger I called G.L. Hunt Foundation based on the Angie's list reviews. I made an appointment and Coy arrived for the appointment on time, having called ahead to let me know he was on his way. He was very thorough and took a lot of time explaining the process and carefully measuring the variations in foundation level. He then explained their unique foundation repair technology and it made a lot of sense to me. He told me that the house at this time would probably pass a house inspection (if you didn't have a picky inspector) if we were to sell it, but it was on the borderline and would probably get worse. He configured a fair price, I think, for the work. I told him I wasn't ready to commit to it yet and he offered to come back and measure it again in July when the heat dries out the ground so that I could see the difference and observe how much the water content in the soil makes the foundation level fluctuate. Overall, he was very nice and the experience was very positive, no hard sell. I will call again in July and ask for Coy to come out and re-measure. I am taking a number of foundation estimates from different companies, but at this point, I am leaning towards using G.L. Hunt foundation repair when I decide to have the work done.

We initially had a Tuesday evening appointment- Daniel called early in the day and politely asked if he could reschedule to the same time Wednesday. I appreciated that he did that early enough so that I could change my evening plans Daniel arrived on time and looked over the areas in question and then used some survey equipment to determine whether or not the house was level. He was very courteous and respectful of our home. He answered all our questions and made some recommendations on steps to take before building our next house. The good news is our house is level and our problems are cosmetic in nature. So there was no need for further services- and the initial consultation was free.
Description of Work: We had a foundation survey completed by GL Hunt. There are some cracks in my garage and front door and my wife and I were concerned that it was a sign of a larger issue. We are close to putting our house on the market and wanted to make sure there wasn't any structural problems.

Description of Work: Daniel arrived exactly on time along with his laser tool. He proceeded to measure elevations throughout my house. He completed a thorough visual inspection as well as his laser measurements. Following this inspection he provided me with a thorough explanation of his findings and recommendations which included his evaluation that (though some measurements were close to but not exceeding code tolerances) I did not need GL Hunt's services at this time. He offered an excellent, understandable and rational explanation of his opinion as well as suggesting another free estimate at 90 days to evaluate any interim changes indicating a problem other than normal settling and/or drought related symptoms which may indicate a need for repair. Excellent. Highly recommend.

We are looking to do some home updates and wanted to ensure our home's foundation was in good shape. We saw a few cracks in our home and decided it would be best to have someone conduct an inspection of our home's foundation. We have been Angies List members for approximately 3 years and decided this would be the best place to look for someone to perform this foundation inspection. We looked at several companies and decided to go with G.L. Hunt Foundation Repair beacuse of the outstanding reviews they had received. I sent an email detailing my needs and in less than two hours I received a call to set up an appointment for someone to come out. The receptionist was very polite and accommodating and set up an appt that best fit our schedules. Our inspector was Mr. Daniel Roden. The day of the appt he called to reconfirm the time. When Daniel arrived he introduced himself and was very polite and professional. As Daniel was conducting the inspection he made point of describing what he was doing as he was doing it. Once the inspection was complete he explained the results in detail. He said that our foundation was fine and no need for any repairs. He recommended keeping the foundation moist by using soaker hoses. Daniel was very knowledgeable and I was very comfortable with his findings. Definitely NO NEED for a second opinion. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company to anyone looking for foundation assistance for their home. We spent 13 years overseas in Japan and their customer service skills are unmatched until now. Thank you Daniel Roden and G.L. Hunt Foundation Repair for your outstanding customer service and professionalism. Very Respectfully Darren and Sherri Verbeek San Antonio, Texas

Daniel Roden was prompt for his appointment. He did a very thorough inspection of our home and foundation especially under the house. He alleviated our concerns and explained thoroughly what was going on with our foundation. He answered all of our inquiries and assured us that all we needed was cosmetic repairs at best. For all the time he took with us, there was no charge. He presented himself in a very professional and polite manner. We would highly recommend this company for their honesty and professionalism.

Coy was very punctual, he had called earlier to confirm our appointment. Coy was extremely professional, nice, and very helpful explaining in detail what was happening to my old home. Coy wrote up two estimates, one for just leveling my pier and beam part of my home and then another to include foundation repair if I chose to do that as well. My experience with this company so far has been great. It was the only leveling/foundation repair company that had returned my call out of 5 companys since 4/5/2013. They also were the only company that had a very friendly woman answer the phone to schedule an immediate Appointment for the following business day, which was Monday. I have not had any work done yet.

Coy called an hour before he was supposed to be here to make sure we were still good for the appointment time and made it over a bit early. The appointment was at 5:30 PM, which was great because my wife and I have a hard time leaving work in the middle of the day, so G & L's flexibility was great in that regard. Coy showed up, asked me what was going on/why I thought I was having foundation problems, and then went to measuring the house. After he measured every room and multiple points in those rooms he explained to me everything he did, where he did it, and what his findings were. Unfortunately for me, it appears that my foundation will need to be repaired. He quoted me 22 piers for a total of roughly $7700. Coy was extremely professional, punctual, and explained everything that was easy to understand. He walked us through step by step what would be done, how long it would take, and everything else associated with the project. Also, while he did tell us that we need to have it fixed, he did say that we are in no dire straights to get it done right away. Basically, he wasn't trying to use the doom and gloom approach to try and sell me something. He let me know that there is a foundation issue, but that my house wouldn't fall down around me if we wanted/needed to wait to do it. We haven't decided on what we're going to do, and we are looking at getting multiple quotes for the work. However, G & L is definitely going to be considered if we decide to do something. There is nothing that I've seen so far that would make me at all leery about using them.
Description of Work: Coy from G & L came out for an inspection and estimate on my foundation. I suspected my house was in need of foundation repair and contacted G & L to find out for sure.

Had some small cracks showing up on some walls and figured I should have the foundation checked for possible problems. We called and made an appontment. There was no question he didn't answer. I was very impressed with their service.

My home was for sell and had a home inspection. I was told my foundation was in horrible shape. Daniel Roden showed up on time and was very polite and professional. He took all the proper measurements and observed the interior and exterior of my home. Fortunately, my home was not as bad as I was told. He said if he had been in the market, the readings he took would not have discouraged him at all from purchasing it. He also provided me with a letter stating his findings that I can now send to my realtor. I am very grateful to G.L. Hunt and would not hesitate to contact them in the future for any foundation needs. It's nice to find a company that tells you something bad just so you spend money with them.

Dan was prompt, friendly and thorough. He explained the differences in measurements and told me the house didn't need foundation work, that the variations were within acceptable limits and the cracks were cosmetic. He knew I was expecting to hire someone to redo the work if necessary. I was pleased, not only because I didn't need to spend thousands of dollars, but because he was honest when he stood to make money by telling me the house needed work. That honesty will pay off if I need foundation work in the future.
Description of Work: I had them come out to see if I needed foundation work and give me an estimate. I've had foundation work done by another company, but cracks keep reappearing and I wasn't sure the other company had done an adequate job. Though I have a warranty, I don't trust that company to tell me if I need more work unless it will cost me. G.L. Hunt did a thorough inspection and made a sketch of the house with measurements of variations from level.

Daniel was well prepared prior to our meeting, he measured the levelness of our house and checked underneath to see the condition of the pier and beams. He took the information back to the office with him and then contacted us to set up an appointment to go over the recommendations. At this time we are considering what steps to take. When we do have something done, we will certainly use this company.
Description of Work: My Husband and I had Daniel come out to give us an estimate for foundation repair on our home that was built around 1925. Our house was leveled over 15 years ago before we bought it and we thought that it was in need of attention again. He was very prompt and courteous when speaking with both myself and my husband. After his inspection, we had found old paperwork from when the house was leveled before that an engineer stated that our home was at a certain slope. Daniels' recommendation was that we could replace the wooden shims with steel shims if we wanted. The measurements that Daniel took showed that the house had not shifted since the engineers report. We are thinking about replacing the shims, but at no time did we feel pressured to have something done to our house. Daniel represented the company with utmost professionalism. He is definitely a trustworthy person and when we decide to have something done we will certainly choose this company.

Daniel informed us that most of the recommended repairs from the home inspector were not needed. He explained that although our house is not level, most of the houses in this area are not and to do the structural work that was on the home inspection would cause a lot of damage to our home. He also advised us on what foundational repairs he would follow through on. He did all of this for 0.00! WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! How refreshing it is to receive this kind of advice and honesty. If we need foundation repairs in the future, we will DEFINITELY call GL Hunt! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The company rep came out, reviewed the situation, took measurements of our "tilt" on our floor to show us exactly how much was needed to be lifted. He thoroughly explained what the process would be. We felt very comfortable with his knowledge and commitment since we had checked him out on Angie's List and he met all our requirements - responsive, cost effective and professional. The work was started within the week and it took two days to complete our job. The crew & supervisor that were assigned our job were punctual, courteous and professional. From beginning to end it was a pleasure working with these guys and we would highly recommend GL Hunt to any homeowner.
Description of Work: Part of our home is log and the exterior pier/beams needed lifting. The GL Hunt crew worked two days on the project to completion and they left the job site cleaner than when they started. Part of their serviceincluded bringing in top soil to complete our plant beds as all of it was torn up during the work. I was pleasantly surprised at the extent that was gone through to complete the task.
