Description of Work: Fresh Air removed mold from my air conditioning unit and the air ducts. Chris came out and did an inspection then spelled out in detail every thing that would be done and gave me the quote. I hired them them to do the work. They called to confirm the appointment and were on time. The workers were polite and reviewed the job with me. They completed what they said they would do with out any surprises. The next day I got a follow up call to make sure I was satisfied with the work. I am because the price was reasonable, they did what they said they would do, and I am breathing much better. I have recently hired Fresh Air to pull out all my carpet and install ceramic tile in the whole house.

Excellent consultation.
Description of Work: Chris returned my call today (Saturday), and spent at least a half hour talking to me about how to handle my potential mold issue. I really, really appreciate him calling me on a Saturday, explaining in detail what his company could do for me. He even explained how I could handle the problem on my own, and he didn't have to do that. If I need any of the services that Fresh Air provides, I'll absolutely call this I company.

Description of Work: Showed up on time and finished almost all of the work in about three hours. Did not have sanitizer chemicals with them so could not finish. Came back a week later after promising to return that afternoon or the next day. I had to call to schedule the completion. Very professional and cost effective. Just a little slow finishing up. |Solved a problem about suspected mold that another Angie's List firm said existed but it turned out there was no mold and the other firm apparently wasn't even licensed in mold remediation. It was one of those "deals". I would strongly advise using Fresh Air. They can test for mold which if really is there will drive up the costs. So be careful with this kind of service and use an honest provider like Fresh Air.

Excellent. They came in on Wednesday and finished on Friday.
Description of Work: Included mold remediation in my bathroom (i.e., removal of vanity, sheetrock, insulation), eradication of the mold (dehumidifying), and treating the areas to insure that the mold doesn't come back. They also did air duct cleaning and unit treatment (pretty bad mold infiltration in the AC duct system)

There were two halves of the job; one was for mold remediation and the other was the build back after the mold remediation. They are two completely separate jobs done by different companies. Fresh Air is a company that subcontracts to other contractors. There is a mold remediation group that works for Fresh Air. When it comes to the building back, Fresh Air selects a subcontractor to do that. The whole kitchen ceiling had to be pulled down and replaced. They didn’t want to do that initially. They said that they can just do the patching. So, I told them that I didn’t want a patched ceiling. I wanted a ceiling that doesn’t contain the florescent lights that we have now and contains all recessed cans as well as the appropriate bulbs and stuff like that. I did that and I forced them into pulling the whole ceiling down. In the end, they had to have the whole thing down because they had to replace the beam that ran through the whole length of the kitchen. The price paid to Fresh Air was about $7900 and part of that belonged to another company. There was another company that had worked on our toilet. It took that company three times to conceal a leak that went on for 9 months. It eventually leaked through my kitchen ceiling. When they finally took it down, the amount of mold that they had to remediate was tremendous. Remediation is a two step process. You first need to have an assessment company come in and tell you how big your mold problem is. So, there was another company which did the assessment and they write you a protocol. Then they turn the assessment over to the state government depending on the size. Sometimes they don’t have to really code it if it’s less than 25 square feet. In our case, it was more than 25 square feet. So, they turned it over to the state government. There was a report sent and then they wrote a protocol that allowed the mold remediation company part of Fresh Air to come in. They take down the molded areas or cut it out. In our case, they had to cut it because our entire sub floor and the flooring for the bathroom upstairs was all on oriented strand board. What happens is that if the mold gets into it deeply, they can sand it out. Even if they sand it out, they would risk the contamination of the rest of the house. The mold remediation team has to come in and hang all the barriers which are polyethylene. Then they have to create a positive way in the room that opens the outside windows. That is done so that the only place you can go is outside and not into the rest of the house to keep the mold from spreading to the rest of the residence. In the end, Fresh Air did a very fine job with that, but the problem was that they had to take out a part of my bathroom floor. We couldn’t match the tile that was on the existing floor with what was available at the local place; so we had to replace the entire bathroom floor or at least the tile floor. They didn’t have to replace the whole subfloor, but they had to replace the subfloor that was affected by the leak because it was all molded up. Fresh Air did an excellent job of mold remediation. The only error they had was that they accidentally cut a lighting line to the florescent lights that I was going to take down. Fresh Air is a very professional company. They look after their customer’s interest with a great deal. When it came to the build back, that’s the part when it really began to hurt because that was a little bit higher priced than the remediation was. Putting back the ceiling was expensive and they did a very professional job. I only had one small complaint about it since they didn’t knock off the tips of the texture that they put on the ceiling. They had to turn the corner on the ceiling. They had to go from wall to wall to replace the ceiling. When they replaced it, they had to put a part of the texture before they painted below the level of the ceiling and on the wall because they had to tape the new ceiling to the wall. Then they had to use the wall paste, smoothen it out and spray in the texture. However, they didn’t knock off the tips of the texture before they re-painted and they should have. So, that was the only thing that they did wrong in the whole job. The price for the remediation was as it should it and it was right on. The build back was billed separately. We had to make some adjustments to the prices on things when they started to replace the beam. They said that they were going to do 3 beams and they didn’t need 3 beams. All they needed was one and reinforcement of a couple of others. That didn’t cost us as much as replacing 3 beams. We got that all straightened out. The build back itself was the most expensive part of the job. The remediation was not the biggest part of the job. They were a little higher than the average contractor, but it wasn’t terribly expensive. It was moderately more than it should have been as per my estimation. I have worked with contractors for the last 30 years at different places and I know how much things should really cost. Their price was high. The quality of their work was high. I had a little bit of problem with their punctuality in the beginning. So, I called the owner, Alex Nero and he said that he would get his boys right on, but that didn’t actually happen. They didn’t show up as quickly as they should have. We started the whole process in May. The company came out, wrote the protocol, got the protocol back to the company and reported to the state. So, it was late May before they even got started on the remediation set up. When they started on the job, there were sections of the job that needed to be done first. When we took down the ceiling, we had to have the electrician and the plumber come in before and I dealt with them separately. I had two different companies come out for the plumbing and the electrical work. I would tell people that Fresh Air is probably the best for mold remediation because I couldn’t even get the other guy to call me back with quotes.
Description of Work: We used the services of Fresh Air for mold remediation around the 12th of October.

I called Fresh Air. Alex, the owner came out that same day to give me an estimate. Normally the company has a minimum charge of $600. But Alex waived that charge because the job was so small. He gave me an estimate of $350 which included two days rental of a dehumidifier. I got another estimate but the company didn't waive their minimum. I called on Wed. and Fresh Air came out immediately. Moses arrived to take care of the problem. He did a really thorough job and was polite and professional. Because a week had passed since the estimate much of the moisture had dried and I didn't need the dehumidifier. The total charge was $270 with tax. I was very pleased with the whole experience.
Description of Work: The cabinet under the sink had become moldy due to a leaking pipe
