I read all the great reviews on Angie's List but my actual experience was poor. I had requested estimates from 4 different companies. Two gave me quotes over the phone; two came in person. One of them was Welborn. The estimator was on-time. My wife was at home and she gave me the phone after he looked at the door. The estimate was more than double the estimates from the other 3 Angie's List "A" companies. I didn't get to hear the actual full price because when I asked him to total it, he said he "left his calculator in the truck". When I told him I had one more company coming to give me an estimate and I'd make a decision after I had all four estimates, he started using the "what can I do to get your business today?" routine. I felt like I was in a low-end used car dealer's office. He then said that he used his own gas to get to my house...he expected to come here and do the job...didn't know it was "just an estimate"...what if he used lower-end springs but still gave me the lifetime warranty? When he went lower on price, and I said that I still wanted to get one more estimate, he told that he couldn't guarantee the price tomorrow. It was a definitely a high-pressure sales situation. The company that came after Welborn was professional, not pushy at all and half the price (they had all good reviews on Angie's list, they're local for us and we've used them for service before). He also told me how life-time warranties from other companies work - the springs are warranted but they only fail one at a time ...one fails, and you pay x dollars for the service call and y dollars for the labor, the other fails shortly thereafter and ...x+y dollars again, pretty soon that lifetime warranty doesn't look too good... especially if the initial cost was double their competitors.

As I mentioned all it took 10 to 15 mins to replace 8 to 10 rollers. I personally don't think this service is worth anything more than $30 to $40. I had my A/C tune up done which took the person more than a hour and I just paid $60.

The rep showed up on time and performed the needed services quickly.

Excellent, the guy that did it knew exactly what he was talking about and did not try to "up-sell me". He gave me information that allowed me to make a sound, financial decision. Really appreciated the professionalism!!

They turned my noisy garage door into a quiet smooth ruuning system. I was so pleased I had them replace my old screw drive door opener with a new belt drive unit. It very quiet and smooth running. Very professional, timly and good value for the dollars. I will use them again.

He was very responsive and came out right away. I would use him again and certainly recommend him.

The service was excellent. Chris from Welborn came out and performed the service as advertised. He was extremely professional and the work performed was worth every penny. One door was very loud and did not move smoothly before the work was performed and now it is 100% better.

Serviceman was nice but I felt pressured to purchase additional work. He immediately noticed other things that should be "repaired"; I told him no thank you and we have not had any problems with the system.

The serviceman repaired two rollers that had come off the track. I was not aware. He tuned my garage door completely and changed the metal rollers with synthetic. He also left a reminder sticker with the next recommended inspection date. Two thunmbs up!

Everything went very well, I have no complaints.

Wonderful job and use the service again

In Sept 2011 we had Welborn come out and do a 'tune-up' of our garage door. The house was 9 years old at that time and the garage doors squeaked pretty badly. They came out and lubed the doors and replaced the steel wheels with nylon wheels. The door was much quieter. The tech recommended a new spring, saying the existing one wasn't quite strong enough. I declined the new spring. The charge for the tune-up was $90. Just last month (Aug 2012) I noticed a bolt on the garage floor. I looked and found that it was one of two bolts that hold the drum pulley to the shaft (not sure about the terminology). I called Welborn Saturday morning and they set up a visit for that afternoon. The tech, D.W. (not the same one as last year) said the pulleys were mis-aligned and showed me the problem. He recommended that he disassemble and realign the shaft, pulleys and bearings. I asked about the spring, since he would pretty much have it all apart anyway. He said that it could use a stronger one for the size door we had. I told D.W. to go ahead with the spring. He had all the parts with him and completed the work in less than an hour. The charge for this was $355, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I appreciated that Welborn had someone come out the same day, as I was a little concerned that the door might get damaged if the second of the two bolts came loose from the pulley.

My garage door started to close while i was backing out of the garage without my noticing. I noticed when my car got stuck and the door wouldn't move. I had dented the door, knocked it off its track, and a couple rollers fell off. I had called two other companies before Welborn and they laughed at my assumption that someone could be sent out the same day for the repairs. I didn't really have time to wait as my door was stuck halfway open with no way of getting my car out of the garage. Cynthia was so helpful when I called and told me she could have a technician to my home within four to five hours. Well Joel arrived to fix my door within two and a half hours on a holiday weekend (90 minutes earlier than his estimated arrival!). I also had him replace my well-worn door spring. The door looks brand new and works even better than before after Joel lubed the opener chain in addition to the other work performed. I don't know how competitive the cost is as this is my first run-in with a garage door, but I felt it was a fair price for a couple hours of labor plus the quality of work he did. Both Cynthia & Joel were so friendly as well. I would definitely recommend this company to my family and friends.

The repair went very smoothly and took only about an hour. The technician was very knowledgeable and efficient. The garage door has worked fine since the repair. Excellent work.

The man was very professional. He did a great job and he came back two days later because I didn't have weather stripping at the bottom of the garage door so he replaced that. I was very happy with his work. He came right on time.

GREAT--see comments above. Wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for!

I purchased a coupon. The price was for only one door. I think the price was OK, but I don't think it was discounted. I think that I got what I paid for nothing more and nothing less. I still need to fix the other door. I was told that it needed to be replaced.

Everything went wonderfully. Unfortunately, the job cost more than I had planned, but our garage door system was in worse shape than I realized. They we're professional, knowledgeable, prompt and great to work with.

The technician also removed some brackets that had been on the roller tracks before we had moved into the house, saying they were not needed. The technician asked about the springs. They had been there since we moved in and I asked him to replace them while he was here. After his work, the garage door works better and closes without gaps now. I am very satisfied with this service experience.

Their Serviceman showed up on time the day after I called to make an appointment. He diagnosed the problem correctly right away and fixed it in a timely manner at a reasonable rate. I would highly recommend this company and if I need something in the future I will call them again.

The technician came out and serviced the garage door. We have an ancient GDO and door, and it tends to act up fairly often. The electric eye system is often the problem, and is easily corrected. The initial work improved the performance of the door opening and closing, but soon after the door started to hang up on its way down reverse direction. The technician returned on the day we called him and on one other occasion shortly thereafter. Apparently there was a problem with the screws (holding the electric eye unit to the wall of the garaga) vibrating loose. After the second return visit, all has been working well. I am impressed with their responsiveness to our problem, although it was initially disappointing to have the technician return so soon and during a big thunderstorm. They did not charge for the followup visits.

The repair person was late but called in advance to let us know he was running behind. This is what I would expect from any good company. he promptly fixed the door and at a reasonable price. he did not try and sell us anything that we did not need. He did let us know of some issues that we may have in the future due to the age and health of our door. Great company!
