DFW improved was very responsive, flexible, and punctual. Their pricing was within the same range as other vendors I received quotes from. Ultimately - the patch work and re-texturing they did was like art work. You cannot tell where the old ceiling ends and the new begins. Definitely would recommend to anyone needing these types of services.

They were very prompt about coming when they said they would. The actual work took only a couple of hours. My one complaint is that it was not easy to track down the salesman to get a quote. We were considering having them paint the door as well, but I didn't get an estimate from him until the other work was finished. I'm very pleased with the finished result, and I'm especially happy that they were able to find the trim piece. It's not something sold at the big box stores, but they were able to get it from their door manufacturer.
Description of Work: I have a set of French doors that were leaking underneath the threshold when it rained. They chiseled out some decorative bricks, replace the threshold, and added metal flashing and weatherstripping to prevent further leaks. They also replaced a trim piece on the door that was chewed by our dog.

Overall the experience with DFW Improved was good. They were professional, their work was pretty good and they tried to manage their sub-contractors. The problems we had were that they seem to be using sub-contractors who are at times willing to cut corners. This leaves the home owner in the position of saying "hey that's not done yet" or "hey thats the wrong color" or "hey is the painter ever going to leave? it's 6:30 and we need to lock the house". The painters made the process drag out because they sent one painter instead of a team (probably again to cut costs). We had coordinated to be out of town during the work to avoid the smells of the oil paints and stains. Unfortunately since the painters took so long to paint, our family ended up staying in a hotel for 4 nights after returning to an incomplete project. Electricians were a bit of a comedy of errors, trucks broke down, schedules got mixed up, instructions were misunderstood. Our main contact at DFW Improved, Case was professional and was just as frustrated as us at the mistakes his subs made but in the end the main contractor is the one who I paid and dealt with so DFWI gets the judgment for making poor choices of sub contractors. I would use them again because they did undercut the competition on price but would do so with the knowledge that I will have to be actively involved in managing the subs and making sure that the work is done exactly as promised.

The project started with us meeting with their interior design person. She was a lot of help and gave us some great advice on how we should color the home. I would definitely recommend that you utilize her for any remodel project. The project started on time with the painter coming in. There were some challenges with the painters work but Shaun (project manager) kept on top of things and made sure ti was done right. They brought in another painter since the first one couldn't do the work to our level of acceptance. The counter guys came in and removed the old counter top without damaging the backsplash tile and replaced the top with a granite one. The floor tile people did an excellent job laying the tile. When they were complete, the tow bathrooms looked great. Next came the carpet people and they did a great job stretching the carpet and the cleaners brought the carpet back to life. Finally the cleaners came in and again Shaun was a great help in making sure everything looked perfect. I have used this company before and with this project, they just reinforced my confidence in having a great product once they were finished. I would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: They painted the entire inside of the house, laid floor tile in two bathrooms, replace kitchen counters with granite tops, stretched and cleaned the carpets, replace the kitchen sink and faucet and replace a faucet in one of the bathrooms and then thoroughly cleaned the entire house to get it ready for sale.

I can't say enough good things about my experience with DFW Improved. Project Managers/Contractors John and Shaun were such a pleasure to work with. I was kept abreast of everything done on a daily basis .. Which from experience with other contractors is not always the case. Also.. Any questions were promptly answered by quick responses to my calls or texts. We had a concrete glitch and they were very willing to make it right .. So working with the concrete contractor the glitch was taken care of. My covered patio is beautiful and I will definitely call upon them for any future home improvements or repairs and will also refer them to all my friends.

We found Garrett to be knowledgeable, personable and professional. We liked the concept of going to their design studio where we could make all our selections with the help of a designer. In the end, we chose to go with another company because we felt DFW Improved's price was higher than we wanted to pay.

Our project was a shower remodel and wall treatment. We got 3 bids from different contractors. We met with Robert from DFW Improved who walked us through their processes. Nobody came even close to his attention to detail and listening to our desires. Where others where vague about problem areas, Robert saw right through them and had honest answers. Always reassuring no problems, we can do that. After agreeing on the contract we met with Kristie in the design studio. She was so patient and helpful with colors, styles and textures. Mixing our existing style to blend with the new. We wasted too much time looking on our own when all we had to do was show up at their studio. The fog of all the materials can be frustrating but Kristie was spot on helping us. Just so nice to work with professionals guidance. With all the materials chosen, the next step was the one that really sold me on DFW Improved. We met Robert at home and was introduced to the best project manager Tony for a pre-production meeting. I think that this step was the most important. To get all of us in one place, one page, all information shared to us was critical. We covered everything, tile orientation, niche specs, shower head placement, accent stripe location, bench height, etc. None of the other bids had anything like this. It really kept us involved with the project. When you use DFW Improved always ask for Tony. Great guy. Very easy to talk to and always there when we need him. The demo went quickly and cleanly. They covered our floor and never left a mess. Our first snag was termites. Tony was great in halting the build, re-tasking his teams until we could get our exterminator out and resolve the problem. He brought his carpentry team back in and added lumber to the damaged areas and allowed us time to re-treat the new lumber for pests. The pre-slope was put in, then on to another step that no other contractor even mentioned. A 24" fiberglass layer that covered everything. The cement board, pan slope, bench, pony wall, curb and walls were made water tight. They even filled it up to check for leaks before proceeding. The next layer of water proofing was Red Guarding the entire shower. Outstanding. Tony had the greatest group of masons. Louis and Frankie are amazing. My profession needs me to be very accurate and I'd bring my level out every night. The shower was true, square and plumb. Every horizontal slope was the right pitch in. Louis laid the tile out like an artist. All the wall seams and 90 degree joints were done with matching caulk for expansion. It's the little things and Tony never missed a beat. The painters did a great job. They even came back a third time to make sure it was done right. The plumbers had their obstacles and corrected them well. Electrical put it all back together, plus mending lights and exhaust fan. The finish out was well done. Correct trim and touch up. The clean up crew did an excellent job. We threw Tony a curve ball in the last stages of the punch out list, the wave grab bar we ordered was not made correctly. So, they had to make a new one. He brought in Mike. Great guy. Another superstar at DFW Improved. This crew was on time, professional, friendly, respectful and cleaned up everyday. We know who we are calling for any further projects. If anyone asks, it's DFW Improved!

They were all professional, interactive, responsive and on time. They went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of.
Description of Work: This was a big job--they covered many holes where squirrels were coming in, but more importantly replaced old wood surrounding our windows, put all new trim and flashing around the house and garage, painted doors, shutters, new gutter screens, weather stripping outside the house. In addition they repaired walls, moulding, trim and painted several rooms inside. Always on time, always professional. Worth every penny.

This company was fantastic! They were professional, friendly, fast and efficient and the work performed was high quality! We had about 15 years worth of "honey do" items that we were hoping could be completed before our daughter's wedding the next month. Probably it was crazy to schedule remodeling just then, but this company came through for us. They zipped right through a long list of jobs in about a month. They even managed to get it almost completed before the wedding until we had one hiccup occur. The carpet that was delivered to our house was the wrong color! Since it was then about a week before the wedding, our team leader, Case, got on the phone and managed to locate a big roll in the correct color. It wasn't quite enough to do the entire house but it did get the entire downstairs done in time for our guests. This company was our first and best choice because we had a large variety of jobs and they were a big enough company to be able to pull in the resources and crews to get it done right and get it done fast. The price was not the cheapest one of the companies we interviewed but we decided it was worth it to get the quality and manpower we needed. We would highly recommend these folks to anyone. They were always on time, easy to contact and ready with answers and know-how. You can trust them to do it right!

They have not actually sent me the quote. They have come and looked at it, and they are going to email it to me. They were on time. Hired just before Christmas to paint second floor master suite including bedroom, bathroom and hallway connecting the two. First paint job completed in two days and looked like a kindergarten class did the work. Shockingly poor paint job but worse was the damage the painters caused in rushing to do this large area in two days: EXTENSIVE overspray of white trim paint covering the second floor hardwoods, down the wooden spiral staircase and onto the first floor. The black console table at the base of the staircase on first floor had a white coat of paint. Also, extensive overspray into my two large bedroom closets coating the wood cabinet built-ins, overspray on the chandelier and light fixtures in the bathroom, and a large scratch in the wood floor on first floor. These problems were noticed immediately by me when I tried to clean the "dust" off the hardwoods, only to realize it wasn't dust, but paint. Because this was now Christmas, they were slow to return. They acknowledged the problem and brought a second paint crew in to repaint the entire area a second time after Christmas. This took them a week with two painters that spoke zero English and who had zero supervision unless I called my "project manager" , Ed, from DFW Improved - he would quickly breeze in and out to put in some face time. Second paint job also poor. At this point, other people (supposed managers) from the company were being brought into the situation due to the second paint job being poor, the situation of overspray covering the hardwoods and my not wanting to work with my assigned project manager due to his poor supervision. They insisted on my allowing them to have their floor person refinish floors and not one of my choosing, but only after they let the second paint team (the non-English speaking paint team that knows nothing about flooring) attempt mineral spirits (didn't work) and a cover up with some sort of polish (didn't work and left streaks). Their flooring people worked while I was on vacation for a week. (This is now extending into the fourth week of January) They were also going to have a third attempt at the paint job while I was gone. I returned to find a very odd sheen on the floor, areas on the second floor still with visible paint, and dark stain along areas of white baseboards. Paint job still poor. They were able to fix the scratch on the floor somewhat, and repainted my black table. I had to use nail polish remover and remove the overspray from my closet built ins myself. Though they acknowledged the constant stream of problems, DFW Improved was very slow to respond in terms of getting people in to fix the problems, particularly the floor (hence my having to fix my closets myself). This disaster went on for about 6-7 weeks. I was repeatedly told one of the Gary's (the owners) would call but that didn't happen - that is until I filed a formal complaint with the BBB. They then became involved and came to my house. The did not charge me for the paint job as this needed to be done completely once again. They also gave me a check to have the floor refinished by the person of my choice. While they were apologetic, it was clear their main concern was that I file a response with the BBB that I was content with the resolution as they were no doubt concerned about their reputation. I chose this company solely based on Angie's list reviews and can't believe the number of positive reviews there are. I see some phrases parroted in reviews that my project manager used to say, such as "we will leave your house in the same condition or better as when we arrived". This makes me wonder who is writing all of these glowing reviews, perhaps their friends and family?. And to those who give them bad reviews based on the fact that they did not respond to your project, I say consider yourself lucky...I sure wish they had never responded to me. Addendum made in response to DFW Improved's comments: -You have me mistaken for Ed. *Ed*, my project manager, was out of town during Christmas, not me. You could have come back Christmas day for all I cared. I was gone the 29th, 30th, 31st (a weekend) and was back New Year's Day. Ed brought Jason, a manager, over right before I left and this was their first return after the initial paint job. You had no intent on coming back this weekend. I in no way slowed your return. AND, when I was gone the last week of January, I left your company my house keys AND my security code to come and go at your convenience in order to fix the floors and paint (third paint attempt). No delay on my part in your attempts to fix what should have been a simple job. -Racial slurs about the painters? My comments that they can not speak English, and I could not communicate aren't slurs. Those are facts. -If by "caustic" you mean angry, you betcha. You'd be angry too is someone did this to your house. That should have been such a simple job. I'm still dealing with the damage this company caused. This house was a new purchase with the hardwood having just been refinished in September. -You were allowed to *fix* everything. The problem was, you couldn't. Paint job was still poor (and the Gary's admitted this upon their inspection), floor still with paint shadows (your company saw this too), scratch on hardwood still visible, etc....you handed over the key after your best attempt. Bottom line is this - Master suite was to be painted and this should have been simple. Horrific paint job with extensive damage. No indication these "painters" had ever picked up a paint brush as there wasn't even prep work - no sanding, priming, covering, etc.. Only damage and poor work. The public deserves to be warned. I wish I had been privy to a review such as this prior to hiring you. After seeing the quality of the employees and the quality of work, I can never believe this company is capable of anything.

Response from DFW Improved
In response to (deleted member name) review of our company’s quality, it is absolutely fair to say that DFW Improved fell flat on our face. The work that was originally performed was below our standards. In addition we did get overspray on multiples areas of her home and furnishings and scratched her wood floors trying to move something on the first floor. One of our management team contacted her on Sunday, December the 23rd to let her know that we were aware of the situation and that we would absolutely make it right. The attempts to rectify the situation were slowed by the Christmas Holiday and the fact that she was out of town, so for her to say we were slow to return is not fair. Our attempts to correct the poor quality of work were supervised by the original project manager as well as our sales manager and warranty manager. It quickly became obvious to all three of them that it would be an enormous challenge to un-do what had already occurred as she grew more caustic and condescending with each day, often making abusive comments to our management team and even going so far as to make racial slurs about members of our crews. As a contractor you understand than when you make a mistake, especially when it comes to the quality of work, you lose the confidence of your client. Sometimes you can recover and sometimes you cannot. In this situation we were not able to recover and it became a quick, downward spiral. When this became apparent and she informed us that she did not want us to make any further attempts to correct anything in her home, then our focus became making sure that we make it right financially. At this point we were out of pocket far more than the original price tag of her project but our feeling was that no matter what had transpired that was not her fault or her problem. So we charged her nothing for the painting since she wanted it re-done by someone else and we paid her the amount she was quoted to fix the wood floors. We even paid her an additional amount to fix a desktop in a room where we didn’t even work because she claimed “that it had to be from something one of our guys did”. In the midst of all of this she filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they informed us of it. Per our agreement with the BBB, all complaints must be addressed and they must receive notice from the complainant that it has been satisfactorily resolved. After we met with her and agreed that we would reimburse the costs associated with the remaining repairs, she agreed that we had done everything that we could (or she would allow us to) do to make our mistake right by her and she informed the BBB as such so they noted it as resolved. She is correct in her assertion that we were concerned about our reputation. We have built our company on doing the right thing and making sure that we treat people the right way. Her insinuation that we have friends and family writing reviews for us on Angie’s List is completely ludicrous and highly offensive considering how hard we have worked to earn those reviews and the way she treated our people. Many contractors would have simply walked away and never returned her phone calls or tried to deal with the situation and they would have received the same grade she gave us. DFW Improved did the right thing with the utmost integrity.

Started with just the ceiling. But he mentioned that they don't do a job that isn't at least $500. He sounded knowledgeable so showed him other things that needed to be fixed. Wrote everything down as we went from one thing to another. He was very personable and took time explaining things to me. He said he would contact me shortly to give me the estimate. I was very hopeful and eagerly wanting to get things done. So we waited. And waited. By the time he left, I had a long list of things that needed to be done. I know it was more than $500 worth of work. But even if it weren't, he should've called to tell me that. He did say he would send me an email. And maybe he lost my email address. However, I have his name and number on my caller ID so I know he has our phone number. For him to simply not call back was unprofessional.

I contacted Fence Makeovers via e-mail and they scheduled an appointment for a free estimate within 24 hours. They inspected the property and provided us with a detailed scope of work. A solid stain was recommended to provide a uniform look because the fence had a solid stain and different types of wood. The fence was bleached but remained several days without staining because of rainiy weather. The day of the staining, the crew showed up late in the afternoon and did not have sufficient stain to perform the job. Apparently they were told it was a much smaller job. They rushed to Home Depot to buy more paint and started to stain the fence around 5:00pm. It got dark around 6:30 but the crew continued to work until after 9:00 pm. It was very windy so I was concerned about overspraying. When I inspected the fence the next morning, I found several areas that they missed and other areas with drip marks. There was overspray on one window, a swingset, and newly installed gutters. The missed spots, drip marks, and window overspray were corrected shortly after I informed the company about most of these issues. I was told that the gutters could not be cleaned. I did not inform them about the swing set since my kids told me about it a week after the repairs were done. Overall, Fence Makeovers performed a very good job. My fence looks fantastic. The reason that I gave them a C in quality was because of the excessive overspraying.

I was able to get an appointment for the initial meeting with Juan B within just a few days of calling. Due to a personal conflict on my part I had to reschedule for a week later. Juan gave me very clear expectations of timing and work that could or could not be completed. I received the initial proposal and was very pleased with the price. I accepted the proposal and within a week met with Juan again along with the Project Manager, Doug S. We did a walk through of all of the work I was requesting and made sure my expectations were understood. Work began almost immediately. Mortar repair and brick replacement went very quickly. I had a few change orders and additional requests while the crews were on site. All my requests were welcomed and completed same day. Carpentry work and roof repair was done the same day as masonry. A few additional repairs were required on the roof - very minor additional cost. Pictures were provided to me to show the damage so I did not have to question the legitimacy. It was very apparent throughout the process that my project manager Doug was looking out for mine or in general, the homeowners best interest. The paint crew was able to come in and finish 5 large rooms, ceiling, baseboards and walls within one day. All of DFW Improved's crew was very professional, respectful and experts at their individual trades. However, I must say that my Project Manager Doug S. stood out as the most professional individual I have come in contact with in contract work to date. He came to meet with me every morning that workers would be in my home to assure that the work to be completed was to my specifications. He made the experience exceptional! Not to mention, all of the work was completed timely, smoothly and exactly as expected! Thank you to both Doug , Juan and Crew for an incredible home improvement experience!

All is well and better than before. Great job.
Description of Work: We had a busted water line in the attic above master closet. Gary was my first call. He made sure that my leak was under control by asking me to check a valve on the hot water heater and then proceeded to tell me what the next steps were. We immediately had a plumber and another company come in and extract water from the carpet and set up fans the same evening. According to the adjuster this limited the damage substantially. Thank you Gary.
