We did not hire this company, we only got an estimate to install a patio door. However, they were on time, professional and courteous.
Description of Work: We did not hire the provider; quote was too high compared to other estimates.

Ultimately we went with another contractor due to cost. We would definitely consider DFW for future projects though!
Description of Work: We just got a quote for a kitchen remodel from DFW Improved. It came down to them and another contractor. John was really great. We enjoyed working with him. He was always very professional, punctual, available and responsive. He came out several times to meet with us to answer questions.

I have never worked with such incredible contractors before! Corey and Tony were our contacts at DFW Improved, and you could not have more helpful, responsive, polite and friendly people to work with. The work performed is perfect, right through to matching a faux finish look that I thought was going to be really difficult to do. The way the work is undertaken is amazing. The teams protected our home each time they came in, sealing off areas with plastic sheeting so literally NO dust went anywhere while they were cutting away the old beam, removing plaster board etc. It really was quite astounding to watch the amount of care they took to look after everything, minimize any mess, and minimize any inconvenience. DFW Improved use different specialists for each part of the project and the teams really know their work, which gave me great confidence. They also scheduled the teams so efficiently it was like watching a finely choreographed dance! Just as one team finished, the next was here! Our projects took about 3 weeks to complete, and as we could not be here all the time they set us up with a lockbox on the front door. This worked really well, and I didn't worry about not being at home because the crews they use have been with them for years. My faith was well placed, there were no problems. I will absolutely be using DFW Improved again. I'm SO happy to have finally found a reliable good quality contractor who can take on any project no matter how big or small.
Description of Work: 3 projects were undertaken: - installing a new oven and range, which involved electric work, cutting granite countertop, removing cabinets etc. - using specs from a structural engineer they fixed structural problems caused by a previous contractor. This involved replacing an entire beam, lifting the ceiling back up a bit, re plastering, texturing and painting/faux finish glaze part of the area. - complete bathroom remodel, including removing walls, converting a bath to a shower, tiling, new fixtures, paint etc.

Our beautiful home developed water leaks around an upstairs window and a box seat/window directly downstairs in the breakfast area. Since the issue was only manifested by a certain kind of rain pattern, we were not able to diagnose the problem. This went on for years. Three years ago, we hired a contractor (not from Angie's List) to help us find and fix the leaks but ended up paying LOTS of money for nothing. We had thought all was well because it had rained and rained without any leaks. However, the special rain pattern did occur and we realized that the leak had not been addressed. Now what do we do? Since we had already been "burned" by the last experience, and, since we didn't have the knowledge ourselves on how to find and fix our issue, we were very cautious about selecting someone new. We did our homework by studying Angie's List and the BBB. We narrowed our selection to (3) companies. We chose DFW Improved for (2) reasons: 1) We reviewed the BBB to see how DFW Improved resolved conflicts--we found only one such case and we were impressed how DFW took the customer's perspective and resolved the issue by exceeding expectations. 2) We sensed during his inspection process that Jason was viewing our problem as if it were his. Later we would discover that each of the (3) specialized teams sent to do the work displayed the same ownership. Jason and his team leak tested the entire area using a water hose/ sprayer to locate the root cause of the leak(s). Next, their specialized teams corrected the construction on the outside to seal our home. They returned the next day and leak tested the entire area to verify their fix. We were with them side-by-side the entire time, not because we were skeptical, but because we had been fighting this battle for years and wanted to understand the root cause. DFW Improved seemed eager to have us right there at every step. Obviously, our confidence was soaring when we could see with our own two eyes that ALL the leak(s) had been addressed! Finally the team inside replaced the sheet rock, retextured and repainted the walls. Our home looks beautiful! Wow! Words can't describe how important resolving this issue is to our family. But DFW Improved seemed to understand, and they gave us their very best work. Not only did we receive exemplary service, but we made some very good friends.
Description of Work: DFW found and fixed numerous water leaks caused by cracks and break down in the brick mortar, roof flashing and ineffective caulking seals. They professionally repaired (replaced sheet rock, retextured and repainted) all interior roofing and walls. The worked very carefully to preserve existing wallpaper to prevent escalating costs for replacement. They kept their work areas very clean and were very considerate of our home.

DFW saved my floors. They were wrecked by another company, so I hired DFW Improved to refinish the floors from scratch. The final result was phenomenal and I was so relieved that the train wreck was over with. In this line of work you get what you pay for so I will not argue with the price because the quality of the floors couldn't be better. I was very thankful on how punctual they were and they even fit around my schedule to have it done in three days. If anyone is considering hiring DFW Improved, I highly recommend them.

The estimator was two days late in providing us with the quote, which came in astronomically higher than our budget (nearly $29k vs. $15k) and did not line item out the additional work we asked them to quote. I responded asking for a specific price on a smaller scope of work to stay within budget and received no response. Clearly if it doesn't cost 2x the going rate, they aren't interested in doing the work. We will be using another company that is providing more value for the budget and responds to our requests. Follow up to Company Response: I am not looking to trash this company, in fact I really had high hopes for them in the beginning. Unfortunately I must point out that their response below is not accurate. During our on-site meeting to scope out the work, they made absolutely no indication that it would be challenging to do the work for the budget I suggested, or even that it they couldn't do half of the work for that price. I never "insisted" that they write up a quote anyway... had I known they were going to be twice my budget I would have thanked them for their time and sent them on their way. The budget is what it is and their rates are what they are; there's no need to make up conversations that never happened.
Description of Work: DFW Improved quoted a master bath remodel; they were nice to deal with, however their pricing ended up being way beyond the budget we communicated with them. We communicated in our RFQ that our budget was $15k and emphasized this during our meeting with the estimator. We asked them to also line item out several options that we would potentially consider if we could make it work.

Response from DFW Improved
When we met with the client for the initial consultation his expectations were way off from what we could produce the project he wanted. Our staff explained to him that would could not deliver the full master bath he wanted for the budget he had in mind. The homeowner & our staff member even discussed that it would be challenging to do half the bathroom for that price, but he insisted that our staff member write up the proposal for the full project. I met with him on Friday 9/26 and told him that he could expect the proposal by the middle of the following week (we emailed it over on the following Thursday). It's unfortunate the grade he gave us is based on the fact that the homeowner's expectation for a DFW Improved delivered project is skewed. We were professional & forthcoming with what we could deliver.

It took four days, as it was a relatively small job, and coordinating all the crews, for each of the steps, couldn't have been easy. I have to compliment all the company's people: Sales Rep Ian McIntosh, Interior Designer Jo Gifford, and Project Manager John Griggs, who were very professional, and communicated very well. The first day, a crew came in, demo'ed the original countertops, pulled out the compactor, and fixed the flooring. As a lagniappe, John had them help me out by repairing my bathroom door. The second day, the cabinet maker delivered, and installed the new cabinet, and also replaced the toe kick throughout. Day 3, the tradesman arrived, and installed the new laminate countertops, and John delivered the new sink & faucet. The last day, the plumber came in, and installed the sink & faucet, and re-connected the garbage disposal and dishwasher. He even ran the dishwasher, to make sure it was set up correctly. The tradesman all did very good work, very professionally. Overall, I am very happy with this job, and would definitely recommend DFW Improved, to anyone.
Description of Work: Replaced the kitchen countertops, sink, and faucet in my condo, along with removing a compactor & replacing it with a cabinet. They also repaired the gap, in the floor, where the compactor sat below the surface of the wood flooring.

It was very good. Their pricing was on par with other estimates I got. Their professionalism was far and away from other people who I had gotten estimates from. Their communication was excellent. It went really well. We would definitely recommend them. We used them over the span of a couple of months and they finished in June. They were willing to work with us. Extremely responsive and gave quote faster than any other contractor. Very reasonable price. Seemed a little impersonal when he came for the quote and did not ask a lot of questions nor provide any suggestions or advice - a little too "wham-bam-thank you ma'am" for my taste but I cannot thank them enough for rushing out to help us last minute. Went with another contractor only due to schedule

Garrett arrived right on time. From the beginning he was courteous and professional. He listened closely to what we wanted to do to the kitchen and offered suggestions where applicable. He took careful measurements of the kitchen and other rooms affected by the remodel which were used to create the scale drawings of the proposed remodel. Ultimately we went with another contractor, but that was due primarily from a recommendation by a trusted friend. In the future I would not hesitate to contact DFW Improved for another project. I am certain they would do an outstanding job.
Description of Work: Garrett provided a very detailed estimate to remodel our kitchen including laying new tile throughout the downstairs portion of our house. This included removing wallpaper, removing popcorn texture on ceilings, painting, plumbing, electrical, and everything else that needed to be done. I was very impressed with his estimate which included detailed drawing of the kitchen with new cabinets and island.

It started with the first phone call to schedule a consultation. Very professional. Case was assigned to the project. Again very professional and knowledgeable. Amazing customer service. Miguel was the project manager. He and his crew Cruz and Frank worked tirelessly to get the door and window completed. Miguel was in constant contact even through the delays due to vacations and weather. I cannot express enough how amazing this process was. I have had such hesitation hiring contractors due to horror stories and DIY shows. This was nothing like those stories. I will use DFW Improved again. Thanks for a good ending.

Although I ended up choosing a different contractor, it was not because of DFW's professionalism. After I first contacted them they called and scheduled an appointment to come out and measure. Case Kinkel, my contact was on time and professional throughout the visit. I had him rework the proposal a couple times and he was prompt and efficient in making those changes. At the end of the day, they are admittedly higher in price since they include a dedicated PM, designer services, and shorter project times. With my house being on the lower end of the price spectrum, I couldn't justify the premium pricing.

The DFW Improved manager came out and assessed the problems with the rotted wood and cracked tile. I was impressed with his understanding and description of the causes and proposed solutions. He was clearly knowledgeable about the situation and had credible answers to all my questions. I left the meeting with a good feeling about working with him. I made the decision to select DFW Improved after this meeting even though I had two other offers at less cost. The subsequent work progressed as he had described with no surprises. They kept me informed about their progress at all times and even accommodated changes in their schedule that I required. They cleaned up the area as much as possible after each day and did a thorough cleanup at the end. The results were excellent and I will definitely use their services in the future when required.

We hired DFW Improved to do some remodeling and repairs on a recently purchased house. Their bid was higher than some of the other quotes we got, but also seemed more thought out and thorough. The salesman (Jason) was professional, and the Angie's list reviews were good, so we decided to go with DFW Improved despite the higher bid. Overall, everything went great. At the pre-construction meeting, Scott (the project manager) was incredibly helpful, and it was more than apparant that he understood both what we wanted to do as well as the best way to meet our goals. They stayed within budget, and were great about keeping us updated along the way and discussing materials before decisions were made. We added additional work throughout, and they were good about timely getting us bids for new work. They also did a great job repurposing existing materials to help keep costs down, as well as matching what was already in the kitchen as necessary for new materials. We were not living in the house during the remodel, but went by weekly to check on progress. On occasion, there were smaller issues that were not done as they should have been (e.g., the way backsplash tile was cut to tie into existing). In each end every instance, we merely let Scott know our concerns and the issue was promptly remedied. At the post-construction meeting, there were again some minor issues to be corrected (e.g., another coat of paint in some areas) all of which were likewise promptly taken care of. Overall experience and quality of work was great, and would definitely recommend.

I felt that I got ripped off with the plans as the prices were astronomical compared to other providers. The guy was nice to work with but I felt they were trying to take advantage of us. They were very late with the plans by two weeks as well and the cost made me not use their service.
Description of Work: We engaged them to provide an estimate before we bought a home. They wanted the details so they could come up with plans. I agreed to have the plans done. My house was long overdue for exterior carpentry repairs and paint, but the idea of trying to coordinate the whole project was unpleasant and something I kept putting off. After careful review of Angie's List, I selected DFW Improved to act as the contractor for the project. Scheduling the initial visit was easy, and Juan arrived on time to view the property and discuss my requirements. He emailed me the bid, and after a revision at my request, I signed the contract. Juan brought the project manager, Miguel, to meet with me, discuss the scope of work and select paint colors. From there on out, Miguel was my contact and took care of everything. The carpenter and painter were top notch and respectful of my property, doing an excellent job and cleaning up each day before leaving. They were on time and worked full days, breaking only briefly for lunch on site. Miguel was frequently on site to view progress and make sure everything was being done to my satisfaction.

They told us the job would take about 3 weeks. Months later it was still not done. As they were doing the work there were issues from framing to electrical. I reached out to the owner but had no response back. We had to let them go. The new electrician found the wire that was used was the wrong size for our breaker. If DFW had continued and hooked it up the way it was. my house could have gone up in flames. If they had changed the breaker the room would be underpowered for an office or a media room. I had to have the wire pulled out and replaced. There were many issues with the framers work which has left a legacy of a wall that is not straight. Eventually one of DFW's higher ups took over the job. Just before he took over, the framers didn't show up to install a custom beam. My roof was left unsupported for about a week. The new guy decided on using the same framers. Under his supervision, the day before Thanksgiving, the beam was cut 2 feet to short. The replacement that they put in the following week was not of the same quality.

I called DFW Improved prepared to be disappointed based on 3 previous attempts at getting quotes from other companies for the work we wanted to do in our backyard (either no response or just not the right response from them). I made an appointment with Jason and he came out to speak to us just a day or two later. He was very professional, extremely helpful and was right on time. They provided a quote within the week, which was wonderful based on my previous experiences the 3 months prior fighting to get responses from other companies. We chose Dfw Improved for our project, and within two or three weeks they started the job. They were right on time every day and the foreman, Damon, and the crews were the best! Everyone was wonderful and professional, and most importantly, they did great work. They also did a fantastic job cleaning everything up ( except they left some extremely heavy stones in the driveway that we asked them to move and we were scratching our heads as to how we were supposed to get them out of there - my husband figured it out and took care of it). Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. One of the crew members even whistled while he worked, which made me smile. He obviously enjoys his work! We have many other projects in the future and I will be making another appointment with them when we are ready to continue our home improvements. Thank you, Jason, Damon and crews at DFW Improved!

I Found 3 drywall companies on Angies List and one from a referral. The referral took a week to give me an estimate, and the bid was around $1600. The other 2 drywall companies either took way too long to respond or were too expensive. DFW answered their phone immediately and told me a salesman would be assigned to me and would set up an appointment to give me estimate. My salesman called me later that day and set up an appointment for the next day. He called me the next day and said he had a cancellation and would like to know if it was possible to meet earlier. We did, and when I arrived at the house he was there to meet me. We talked about the scope of the work. I had torn off all the drywal from our kitchen and small dining area to install higher supports for the new cabinets we had ordered. We also had taken off all the popcorn texture from the ceiling, so originally I asked my salesman to give me a quote to install all new drywall, tape and bed the walls, add texture to the walls, Repair any holes or cracks in the ceiling, float the ceiling add a light orange peel texture to the ceiling and paint the ceiling. The salesman said it would be a couple days before he could get the estimate back. When we got the estimate it was around $2600. I called him and said we only had a budget of $2000, and to not worry about installing the drywall, that I would do that. His estimate came back at $1962. After accepting the bid, he said a project manger would be assigned to this job and he would be in charge of Working with the contractors. The project manager met with me in the next couple days and said he could have the drywall and ceiling done the next week, but the painter may be up to 2 weeks. As it turned out, the drywall guys came out the end of the following week and the painter came right after that on a Saturday. I think the weather played a big part in in speeding up the process because it was cold and rainy, and their new construction jobs were postponed. All the contractors were neat, friendly and did an excellent job. The project manager was there for every phase of the project to make sure everything was done to specification. After I signed off on the job and paid, I noticed a couple thing that bothered me, and the contractors were back there fixing all the small issues that needed to be done. They took a little longer to get back to fix them, but I was that was not a big concern. Overall, I could have paid less for the whole project, but DFW Improved was the most punctual in getting back with me, and had a workmanship warranty that sold me. Although the whole process took a little longer than I would have liked, everyone from the salesman to the project manager to the contractors were all very professional, and delivered when they said they would. DFW Improved has contractors for everything. I will definitely consider them for my next project.

Juan from DFW came out and did a very copmprehensive quote on the home. He coordinated with the insurance company to make sure that getting my house back to pre flood condition and that insurance would cover it. I was assigned Chad as Gen contractor for repairs. He mostly coordinated wiht my wife but talke dot her daily throughout repair process. The workers were professional. We did have one day where a painter did not show up but they were able to get him reschedueld and the job was still done on time. Chad went above and beyond on our home and even had the painters touch up a copuiple of areas uncovered to make sure that it was all pleasing to the eye. I would recommend them and would use them again.
Description of Work: This was an insurance claim for flood damage and they did the resroation work.
