When the work crew arrived, they even found that an existing unused circuit in our house could be dedicated to the new building, making some of the estimated work unnecessary and saving us several hundred dollars. They could have done the work as estimated and we would have never known the difference.
The quality of the work is outstanding and everyone a pleasure to work with. This is one of the very best service providers we have worked with. Will never call anyone else for electrical work. (And have already recommended them to friends.)
They were on time which is very important to me. I found them to be were very professional and did a great job. I will definitely recommend them and use them again.
Based on an earlier very favorable experience with ABR Electric of Allen, TX, I called them again to do the electrical work to power 4 exterior remotely operated motorized sunshades on the West side of my house. A neighbor and I did the installation and I ran temporary extension cords to operate the shades during the summer heat. Realizing my crude wiring job didn't look very good and required permanent professional installation, I called for an appointment and Nathan told me their entire crew was tied up on a commercial job at that time but would be finished in several days. I made an appointment for Friday, November 21, 2014. James Allen, Jr., arrived and assessed my wiring needs. I had initially told Nathan that I had 4 sunshades that I needed "hardwired" which I thought meant to be permanently installed. James brought the correct materials for hardwiring the units but what I wanted done was not "hardwiring" in electrical terms which means to remove the manufacturer's installed power cords and attaching the electrical wires directly to the motors. However, to remove the manufacturer's installed power cords would void the warranty. James said I needed 3 additional weatherproof junction boxes with GFCI protected receptacles with the wire encased in flexible conduit which he installed after making a quick trip to Home Depot. The delay was entirely my fault for using incorrect terminology and while I deserved being chastised, James just smiled and explained what was needed for what I wanted done. He deserves an A+ grade for his diplomacy and the very professional looking installation. His drip loops are awesome. He returned on the following day, Saturday, and replaced two 29 year old hardwired smoke alarms with new combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms that I supplied.
James is a very cordial, polite, knowledgeable and pleasant young man and is a credit to his profession and ABR Electric. He is also a true American who voluntarily gave up 4 years of his young life to serve in our military. Thanks, James.
I had problems with my Christmas lights on the East side of my front yard every time it rained. Instead of the exterior GFCI receptacle tripping, the circuit breaker in the master electrical panel in the garage would trip which resulted in disruption of power in some rooms inside my house. I had to manually trip the exterior GFCI receptacle so that I could re-set the inside lights and wait a couple of days for the light strings to dry out enough for the GFCI receptacle to stay engaged. I set out on a mission of finding a reliable electrician in the Plano area and decided to give ABR Electrical of Allen, Texas a chance to live up to the praise their customers gave them. I was not disappointed. Since my problem did not require immediate attention, my appointment was set for several days after my initial call. On the eve of the appointment, we had a major storm with several inches of ice but Josh arrived at the appointed time. He tested and then immediately replaced the GFCI receptacle but the ground wire was open. That line had been added about 10 years earlier by Mr. Electric at the time they replaced my master panel. Josh traced the affected wire under the insulation in the attic, replaced the wire which solved the grounding problem. He confirmed what I had suspected that I had a broken wire or miniature socket somewhere in the hundreds of sockets being fed by that line. Through the process of elimination, I was able to find the defective light string and replaced it. No problems during the 2013 and 2014 seasons..
Josh was a very knowledgeable, professional and friendly young man - a credit to ABR Electric.
Based on this experience, I used ABR Electric again in November, 2014.
ABR Electric was excellent. After calling multiple providers, I spoke with James, the owner. He agreed to come out and gave me a ballpark estimate over the phone that was lower than all other licensed electricians, including some of the Craigslist guys that only do and quot;Light Electricaland quot;. His son James Jr. was working in my area the next day, so he sent him over to give me an estimate. James Jr. was great and provided a thorough estimate and even provided some design tips in regards to where to place the lights. He even fixed an electrical outlet for free while he was there that he identified as a Safety Hazard and said that he couldn't leave my house knowing that the outlet presented a risk. A couple of hours later I was emailed a formal quote and we agreed to have the work completed in a couple of days.
James Jr came back out and did an excellent job. This wasn't a simple job as there was another room directly over the kitchen so caution had to be taken when drilling holes. James Jr. was great in avoiding pipes, studs, and duct work and installed the lights with very limited patch work needed. When speaking with him, he is very knowledgeable about his craft including all of the codes and regulations. He covered everything with plastic and cleaned up after himself. He hauled away all of the old light fixtures and made sure that I was satisfied before leaving.
I strongly recommend this company. They are honest and fair. The peace of mind of having electrical work done by licensed electricians that will do everything the right away and not put your home in risk of fire is great. James Jr. was a nice guy and I will request that he handle any electrical needs that I have in the future. The company will be in great hands when his dad eventually retires! You should definitely give ABR Electric a chance, I was more than satisfied!
