We had ceiling damage in a small guest bathroom resulting from a leak in the roof. Rick Bokal of Rubiola Reconstruction and Remodeling came out to give us an estimate. He did, and we submitted it to our insurance carrier for review. They did not indicate immediately that it was out of line, and three weeks later the work was performed. We paid Rick for the work and submitted our final claim; whereupon, the insurance company indicated the the job was almost twice as much as they would pay for similar work. We asked Rick to respond to the adjuster explaining his reasoning behind the charges to ensure that all parties were on the same page and comparing apples to apples. He said he that he would; however, instead of doing so, he sent a terse email to the adjuster with nothing about pricing, but only stating that he had no obligation to the insurance industry, only to his customers. It would seem that his customers are not particularly well served if he is unwilling or unable to demonstrate that his prices are fair and appropriate for the work to be performed. Ours was a small job that only required replacing part of the ceiling sheetrock and insulation and painting the ceiling and walls. In the process, the toilet, a hanging cabinet, and a couple of towel racks were taken down and then replaced. The quality of the work performed was adequate--the painting part of the job would have benefited from a second coat, but we weren’t aware of that until it had fully dried--not a big deal--we can touch up with the paint that was left behind. Also, Rick had originally offered to fix an imperfection the the existing sheetrock wall, but the person who performed the work claimed that it was outside of the scope of the job. Unfortunately, Rick did not come by to check the work until the job was completed, and, to his credit, he did offer to redo it, but we declined. A little closer supervision could have prevented that misunderstanding in the first place. After the work was done, and before the incident with the insurance company, we asked Rick for a couple of other bids on other projects we are planning. We thought the bids were high and told him so--now we know they were high, and we will not be using him again or recommending him for any other work.
Response from Perilous Times Restoration
"We strive to do our very best for each one of our customers. Our remodeling prices are very comparable with this region. We encourage you to get multiple estimates from licensed and insured contractors and to thoroughly check there background. We are not the cheapest yet not the most expensive and we will always meet or exceed your project expectations. In this case, I offered and it still stands today 6-23-2013 that we will correct any issues that are not satisfactory. We stand behind our work . That's what you will get every single time. Call me direct at 210-501-7677. Rick"

The work performed was beyond what I expected. I experienced what most would believe it wouldn't happen to them, an electrical fire. The job was not as easy as most taking into consideration the age of the house and the fact the home was due for foundation repair. Rick Bokal had his crew started the job a week before the holidays installing a new roof in about three days that included replacing rafters where needed. They started right back Jan. 7, 2013 gutting the house, a licensed electrician came in and rewired part of the house that needed it (recommended) instead of the whole house, painting the inside of the house from top to bottom, and drywall was hung in three rooms. Rick Bokal did additional work that was beyond the scope of work (what was originally bided). He was understandable, patient, and calm even when I was frustrated. The job wasn?t always pleasant but Rick assured me of the outcome and sure enough he came through.

Thank you Rick and crew for an outstanding job on my home.

I called several water damage companies here in San Antonio....most were answering services. The owner Rick answered when I call Rubiola Restoration and was at my house within 45 minutes.
He had his people work into the night and he made several trips back to make sure everything was going well. He handled my insurance companies request...paperwork etc. He made sure that items were repacked and nothing inside the boxes had water damage. He even wrote on the boxes what the contents were inside. He had his people straighten out everything and restack boxes. I know he did alot more work that he was not paid for by the insurance company. He told me that when the insurance paid I could pay him...wow.
They hauled off everything that was ruined.
.A week after Rubiola Restoration was paid, Rick called to make sure everything was ok and if I had found anything that was water damaged. I had, a drill charger that cost $150.00. He came out added it to the list and called state farm and handled it.
I cannot tell you how impressed I was with his honesty and customer service. He gave me his personal cell phone in case I had any questions. I wish there was a rating higher than "A".

We were totally pleased with the service we received. The final bill came out to be less than the original estimate, and they appear to have saved our carpet, wallboard, and baseboards in the affected rooms. We did not have to pay until the job was complete, and the technicians were professional and accomodating in coming when we needed them to and even offered us some advice about things we could do ourselves to speed the process of drying and reduce ourcost. They even gave us better advice on dealing with our insurance company on a claim that we got from our insurance agent.
Everything was restored to where we were before the "flood", and we  were very comfortable that we were in good, knowledgeable hands every step of the way. Their office personnel were very nice and acccomodating to deal with, as well. We recommend them most highly and would use them again in a minute if we ever had need of their services (which I hope we don't!)

Rick was very skilled and dedicated to completing the work on time, he even worked on weekends when needed, and kept at the job until finished, unlike most contractors I have dealt with.

I had a slab leak in the living room that affected the dining room and hallway. After the plumber came in and fixed the leak, Rick and his team came in and removed the nasty soaking wet carpet and pad and put in a heavy duty dryer to help salvage the drywall and base boards. The damage was just too extensive and much of the Sheetrock and base boards had to be replaced.  Rick helped me with getting the correct info to my insurance company. Once my insurance company gave me the check to do the repairs, Ricks team came in right away and worked fast and clean/neat. I never would wish for the original problem (the cost of plumbing repair was not covered under insurance). But, Rick took what was at first an overwhelming disaster and turned it into a manageable experience. My house now looks SO MUCH nicer than it did before the water leak. Rick and his team were not only professional, but extremely patient and understanding about the initial stress I was feeling.  I am VERY glad I pick Rubiola Restoration. If I ever need any of the services (they do much more than just water extraction) I will certainly call them!

Rick had originally told me that he would arrive between 9 and 11 AM. When I called at 11:20 to see where he was, I talked to the woman in the office who told me that he was on the way. He arrived 10 minutes later and said that he thought he had committed to be there by noon. He repaired my carpet and cleaned the carpet and rugs and did a very good job.
