They were awesome, they came out and we got a quote. It was great. Unfortunately, because we have a shared fence with our neighbor and we had an a/c that went out, and my mom had a heart transplant so we aren't going to be able to get that done this year. They gave us 3 different options for 3 different fencing. The one that we wanted to choose was the really nice board on board with the kick plate. The price was more reasonable than for the person we had come out from Lowe's. They were very responsive. I liked that they got the quote back quickly. They gave us several options, they included photos. Then, because we had some other things come up that were large expenses, they didn't call constantly and I didn't feel like they were pushy or pressured. They were very, very nice.
Description of Work: I last used Texas Best Fence to get a quote in March of this year. They were going to install a new fence and gate.

They were very professional from the estimating process and in every interaction with them. They were familiar with the requirements of our HOA and stayed within those guidelines. In addition, they also noticed areas of the fence needing repair and replaced split fence boards and color matched them with the new stain. It all looks wonderful and we are highly satisfied with the work and would recommend them in the future.

The company used a subcontractor and his crew to come to my home, remove old fence and install a new fence. The crew were knoledgeable and did a great job. They took more days to complete than originally promised however the workmanship was superior. Mr. Alberto, the sub contractor was very knowledgeable and friendly. He addressed all concerns immediately and was attentive to the work. Mr.Gary the sales man was also friendly and nice to work woth. My only negative comment is that the pickets were brought pre-stained but they were not stained uniformly. I noticed white patches in a few places. I mentioned that to the company who said to wait for 6 weeks until the pickets are cured in sun and if the discoloration still exists, they said they would re-stain for me.

The team showed up as promised and began work on the first day of removing the old fence, replacing two metal fence posts and adding the new fence posts for the extension to the front yard. They finished framing the new fence the first day. We provided Gatorade and ice water as the temperatures were up to 100 degrees. On the second day the team showed up and got right to work putting up the slats. We are very pleased with how the new fence looks and I'm sure the dogs are happy now that they have a new play area to explore as most of the back yard is taken up with the pool. We highly recommend Texas Best Fence as the quality of the workmanship has far exceeded our expectations.
Description of Work: We needed to get the 8ft. privacy fence in our backyard replaced because it was showing it's age and was beginning to break apart in some areas where the dogs played. We also wanted to extend the fence down the side yard to the front of the house. Jeff came out and gave use an estimate to replace the whole fence with new 8ft. 4in. stained cedar and extend it to the front yard.

After seeking competitive bids with 3 fence contractors from Angie's List and based on a clear written scope of work I prepared, I awarded and signed a contract with Texas Fence to replace some fencing and to build a stone retaining wall. The value of all work was about $18K. I had trouble getting a sample engineered drawing out of the sales rep after he had committed he would provide me with one. He even at one point said he had never agreed to provide me with one until I sent him his own e-mail saying in writing that he would. The installation was then delayed for many weeks beyond the 2-3 weeks the salesperson indicated and finally they sent someone out the Friday before the work was to begin that following Monday. That person walked the yard and reviewed the required work. Monday morning came and no one was on site to begin work. By mid-morning, the owner called and said that the salesperson had "guessed" at the amount of backfill dirt that was required for the retaining wall. He had bid 9 yards of dirt and they now felt 80-90 yards was required. The owner felt I should be happy they caught the error before the work began which I took to mean I could have been faced with taking a price increase or they would leave the work unfinished. The owner wanted another $5K which I was not prepared to reward them with. I went and gathered information to confirm for myself that they indeed had made an error in their math and the"guess" by the salesperson was 10% of what it should have been. The error was correct. Based on the the incorrect estimate provided, the higher price being requested, the poor communication with the salesperson, the fact that the owner pointed out to me that he was covered due to a cancelation clause he had in his contract, the arrogance of the owner (my opinion) and based on the fact that they were already the highest of the 3 bidders, I canceled the contract. While I never asked for the owner to absorb all of the difference, I do think if he had better customer communication skills on how the error occurred or how we could share the error that something could have been worked out. It was take it or leave though. As a note, this may be a good company and they may even do good work. I did not get that far. My experience during the bid process was very negative resulting in my canceling the order, not that they would have done any work without me paying more. I share this to avoid similar instances from occurring that impact others checkbooks. I also provide this to encourage everyone to look at their bids closer. I never knew how to calculate a yard of dirt but I do now. Seems like their salesperson should have been able to do so as well. As a final note, he was the only company salesperson of 3 that provided a bid on the spot. Perhaps taking some time and having someone review his work would have resulted in a different result. We will never know.

We're not this fence contractor back to bid the job.
Description of Work: The appointment to bid the job was set between 10 am to 12 pm. Jeff left a message @ 9:59 am that he had already been to the house and left before my husband could arrive. Also, we needed to call the office to reschedule. 1st of all why did the company set a 2 hr window for us to sit around like an appliance delivery? Can't they make an appt like a normal business? Our time is valuable too. The job we're planning is around $20-$25K but he couldn't be bothered to wait 10 minutes. Guess who we're NOT calling to reschedule ? There are plenty of fence contractors in the DFW area.

[member name removed], Thank you for the feedback. While I understand your disappointment of not seeing our representative, I also don't understand why nobody was there for the appointment from your side. My company is in the service industry. We give two hour windows for appointments to take in account talk time with customers and drive time. I don't think an F rating is justified on responsiveness or punctuality. In this instance (very rare) the salesperson was a few minutes early to the appointment and nobody was at home or reachable by the phone numbers provided to my office. Jeff did the correct thing and left a message for you to call the office to reschedule. The two hour window is not an appliance delivery, but rather a time when we have scheduled for a representative to meet with you. If you had an issue with the "window" you could have expressed a need for a set time on the scheduling call. You will find many businesses like ours that utilize the window scheduling due to the larger areas covered in DFW and having to deal with traffic. I left a message with the phone number I have on file for you to call me. I would like to personally schedule an appointment for you and I to meet and discuss your needs. We are in business to have happy customers. I look forward to talking to you. My office is (972) 245-0640 and my cell phone is (214) 586-5508. Colby
I met with Jeff Richards with Texas Best Fence and we went through the project of replacing the existing aggregate deck with a combination of wood decking and concrete decking. We also reviewed replacing the fence and building an overhang to cover the porch. He gave me a bid on the spot and was professional. After awarding TBF the bid I met with Jeff again and he brought along Adam who would be the engineer for much of the project. Once again we went over the project and made some adjustments to the bid. This is where I made my first mistake with TBF. None of the details that we went over in the walk through for the wood deck were put in the contract other than the square footage and material. During the walk through I said I wanted the wood deck to be one step above ground and to go to the edge of the coping. This will be a point of contention later. Also, Jeff said that he would throw in the small fence around the pool equipment for free. This wasn?t put in the contract either which was another mistake on my part because I ended up paying for it ($350). Lastly, in the original bid for the concrete and decking work there was an Angie?s List coupon applied to the work for $250 that was taken off of the revised bid. Unfortunately I didn't catch that until after the fact. At the end of this visit we went over a schedule because they would have to coordinate with the company that was remodeling the pool. The project started and the fence, porch overhang, wood deck, and concrete pouring were completed in a timely manner. However, there were a couple of problems with the wood and concrete deck. With the wood deck, there was a place where the pool curved slightly and they did not build the wood deck out to the coping. This basically left a gap that was very noticeable and unattractive. The other problem with the wood deck is that they built it twice as high as what we had talked about. This wasn't a major problem except that they did not include a step on one side of the wood deck which is a safety problem. The problem with the concrete was that during really heavy rains the drainage system in place could not handle the down pour and water came up to my back door but did not flood the house. The lowest point in the concrete decking was about 10? from the back door and the drain was the about the size of a coke can. I spoke with Jeff and Adam at different times about my concerns and I was ultimately told by Jeff that I would be responsible for the cost to build the step, fill in the gap, and to make the drain larger. After another discussion with Jeff he said that he would meet with the owner of TBF and would see what he could do. After about two weeks of no progress or communication, the owner, Colby Coward, called me. He agreed to pay for the drain and the step and I agreed to pay for filling in the gap between the decking and coping ($200). Also the stain and seal had not been put on the concrete and the deck o seal had not been completed. After about three weeks from that conversation the remainder of the work was completed. I still had a large pile of trash and PVC pipe that was taken care of 2-3 weeks later after a phone call. Also, I went out and measured the wood deck and even with the step they have still shorted me a 2-3? in the length ($480). Another concern is that the concrete patio already looks worn and ready to be sealed again. When the concrete was finished it had a nice polished finish and that is now gone. I don?t know how long that finish is supposed to last but I had hoped longer than a month. The last problem was during the demolition they failed to take out and/ or cap two sprinkler line legs which were no longer needed. This resulted in two separate visits by a sprinkler repair man to properly cap the sprinkler line. This was covered by TBF but the process essentially ruined two areas of sod that I had just put down. Overall I gave them a B because of the multiple issues encountered above. While the wood deck, fence, and overhang do look great I am disappointed in the quality of the stamped concrete, the multiple issues encountered, and the general lack of supervision and quality control from the TBF team. They spent very little time on the project site and had very little communication with me on what they were doing which I think resulted in most of the problems stated above. I would be hesitant to use them on large project similar to this one but I would recommend them for fence building.

I didn’t spend anything for the repair work as it was covered under warranty. Their responsiveness when I had the issue to do the repair was very good. The crew showed up on Saturday and got right to work. Andrea came by mid day to check on everything. The old fence was completely removed and the new fence installed all in one day. The crew did have to return to take care of the porch railings. We had one snafu. I was expecting a top cap with the quote and completely missed that it was not there. I then got a quote for the top cap and had it installed. A different crew did have to come back to the house to correct the top cap. There were gaps between the fence and the top cap. The fence and porches look wonderful and I am completely happy! I will definitely recommend Texas Best Fence,

This project began in late January. My patio faces north (at top of incline) and when the northwest rain hits the back French doors, it rains in my back door. I have already had to replace the doors and indoor flooring due to rot from rain seeping in. I met with several contractors, and TBF had the most knowledgeable, professional rep named Jeff. As a result of our meeting, we determined that I needed to add gutters along the patio and restain the fence. Jeff scheduled a fence rep and advised me to hold off on gutters until the arbor was installed, so that they could design the angle/install to catch all runoff. I then met the fence rep who needed to get with Jeff to requote the arbor staining (I preferred a different color which would change the quote). I never received the call. I left message for him the following week. My work became more intense and the project was put on hold. Finally in mid-late April, I called Jeff back to ask for a copy of the quote so I could sign it and get back on schedule. Two phone calls and a text message later, I received a call but no paper work. I again called the office and asked for a return call. No results. Then I emailed and received a call the next day with a claim that the original quote had been misplaced and they would be sending a new rep that very day to provide a re-quote. I scheduled for the following day and met with Nate, who did not have the same experience. I did receive a quote and got back on their schedule. I felt strongly that this company was the best choice and really wanted this to work out. Being a busy season, I figured on waiting at least a month to six weeks for the work. I called the office and explained that I did not mind the wait but would need a call before setting a date due to my sometimes inflexible work commitments. I began calling once a week for the first two weeks of May, but forgot on the third week. When I did call on the last week of May I was informed that they had scheduled me for Monday, June 3rd. Unfortunately, my job schedule prevented me from confirming this date. I requested the date to be moved to June 27-28. The following week, June 5th, I received a call from the fence rep with an apology for not showing up on June 3rd or 4th. He said that he would definitely be available for June 6th. I told him he didn't miss anything, as it was supposed to be moved to June 27th ? 28th. He agreed to the schedule change for June 28th. On June 26th, I called to verify the schedule and discovered that the fence staining was scheduled for June 28th, but the arbor was delayed to July 1st. So again, I rearranged my work schedule to accommodate their schedule. No one showed or called on June 28th. I again called the office. They called their rep, who finally called me and explained there were delays on other projects. I can understand delays, but to not call and let me know early enough to change my work schedule is unprofessional and shows a lack of courtesy, since I had taken a vacation day to accommodate them. They rescheduled again for July 5th - and I found out the arbor was rescheduled as well, NOW July 5th. I mentioned the above because if you are looking for a contractor and you have a strict schedule, with limited flexibility, and need to be there when the work is being done, then this is not the company for you. It is not because of the delays because this can happen to anyone. No? it is because of their lack of courtesy in not calling to inform me of their delays and rescheduling. In all other areas, their professionalism is outstanding and I have to give a shoutout to the folks that answer their main number, Leeann and LaDonna. I apologize for forgetting the latest employee?sname, but she too did an amazing job trying to keep the customer satisfied and keeping up with the contractors. July 5th arrived and everyone showed up. As others have mentioned, you cannot fault the professional behavior, the actual work, and the responsiveness to make things to your satisfaction. As another mentioned, I thought I bought a higher quality of wood but after the cross 2x2?s went up, I noted obvious dents and ¾ cracks all the way through which they immediately replaced with satisfactory cross beams. The fence rep was also careful to protect my plants in the garden from stain. A week later, I had a gutter installation contractor come out. It turns out that the back beams of the arbor are too close to the house for the gutter to be installed correctly. There is only a two (2) inch clearance. Did I mention gutters on the day of installation? Apparently not! BUT TBF does this for a living. I am surprised that I would have to defineexactly how far away from the house to install beams. I didn't know that it needed to be at least a five (5) inch clearance. This is where I was counting on the TBF?s expertise and the reason I chose them over another contractor. I have worked with the gutter contractor to install a solution, which was tested in the rain yesterday, and it did not work on the inside corner. So now I am now searching for another company to see if they can fabricate a solution - so far, unsuccessfully. The current arbor and gutter solution does protect the French door area; so I have met my original goal. But the fact that I am still trying to solve the problem of water on the patio is frustrating. This could have been easily solved with a change of 3-4 more inches in the beam position. Thus, I am dissatisfied with the work, although in the end I assume some responsibility. I should have listened to Jeff in the first place and not going ahead with gutters, and two, not reiterating that I planned to add gutters to the workers onsite the day of install - whether I should have had to state that or not. On a final note, the electrician who installed the fan called and scheduled an appointment. He came on time and did an excellent job. I will use him again and recommend him. Prevent a Shock Electric 972-467-4146 Ray. To summarize, I rate professionalism a B because of lack of courtesy calls,a nd the fact that the team should have known to install the arbor farther from the house. I rated punctuality a C because the TBF team did not show up when they said they would. If you are an experienced, knowledgeable homeowner with a flexible schedule, you will be very pleased working with TBF. They do a solid, professional job and are unfailingly courteous and responsive once you get ahold of them. Otherwise, if you have never done this type of home project before, or have a full time job that requires you to plan time off in advance, I have to recommend you do a great deal of homework, and be prepared to serve as your own contractor - and accept the results accordingly.

Texas Best submitted a bid that was half as much as the other company considered, so I was hesitant to choose them. I have vines and landscaping I did not want damaged, and we also were concerned about stain on the pool deck and in the pool. I asked a lot of questions and they assured me they would take care to prevent any damage. They did a great job! The fence is exactly the right color. We had zero problems. The price was very reasonable. Bart was very easy to work with. 100% recommended!

It went very well. The job was completed in two days as stated. For the most part I am pleased with the attention to detail. Even though my pickets came pre-dipped in stain, they finished up by locating and hand staining any wood surfaces exposed after cutting. Also, there is a difference of 5.5 ft between the initial measurement on the quote and the finished product. They credited my final payment by 6 ft - no questions asked. There are a couple of minor cosmetic items I have inquired about that I believe will be taken care of as noted in their 10-yr warranty. Overall, this was a very good experience and I would recommend them to anyone.

It went well it was just hard to get scheduled with the company; workers doing the work were fast and precise in getting the job done, and the fence looks great. Former debris left from a fire and vandalism was removed off site along with small trees that were blocking the construction of a new fence. I love the color and decorative motive at the front gate.
Description of Work: Install new fence in the back yard with a swing gate in front and double swing gate in the back yard.

They did an excellent job. They even came back to fix some minor problems. Their sales guy was great and was on top of things. He answered all our questions, and when we changed up what we were doing, he was reasonable with the pricing. The crew also cleaned up after themselves.
Description of Work: They put up a new fence.
