Prompt, courteous - reasonable price for repairs

Purchased 'big deal' for his services with the intent of having him do stair rails for my mother in law's garage. He was hesitant to do that job and would only do so if I purchased the material in advance. I didn't know what to purchase with someone taking a look, recommending material and measuring. He was not keen to do this, so we re-purposed his time to work on our house instead. Upon arrival, I asked him to look at moving a toilet forward slightly. I seemed to understand and know more options than he did, so I moved on. I finally settled on replacing the light sensors on my outdoor flood lights and fix a fence gate latch. These are not complex, but I had not got around to doing them and if I have 2 hours of work for someone to do, this would at least allow me to salvage the 'big deal'. Fixing the gate should and did take about 15 mins. Replacing the sensors are also easy (3 wires) but does taking moving a ladder to each spot around the property (there were 3). It took him 3 hours to replace the 3 sensors. Replacing meant getting a ladder, turning off the breakers, unscrewing the plate, taking the wire nuts off the old unit, replacing the wire nuts on the exact same unit, then screwing back in. I may have taken me 30 min each, including taking a break for water and I would expect the same from someone more experienced. Again, understand it handyman not electrician, but this was not complex and I only defaulted to it trying to find someway to spend my 'big deal'. At the end of the project, he let me know that because he spent 90 mins more than 'big deal', I owed him for the 1.5 hours he spent extra on the task. I reluctantly paid but would have preferred paying for his knowledge, creativity, efficiency and communication. I did not see any of this and would have appreciated at least knowing when he was going over the agree amount so I could decide if I would finish the job instead. At the end, he wanted to 'pray for my house'. Thanks, but that is not the reason I hired you. May want to study the trade and pray for efficiency and knowledge instead. The benefit of doing the Big Deal is to get exposure to people who provide a service with low risk and a fixed value. This allows for a 'test drive' of people's services, capabilities, and get a feel for how they will work with you. For me, he received low marks in most of these categories as I hire a handyman with the idea that they know more, will be more efficient and allow me to concentrate on stuff that is important to me. He did not meet that criteria.

I've used Justin Repairs numerous times over the years with great results. Larry Rosenbaum is personable, prompt, and professional. He has a good grasp of a variety of disciplines which makes him very handy around the house. All the work was done with care and in a timely fashion. Larry is very observant and makes good suggestions when he sees something that could use some attention. Not being handy myself, I've relied on him for continual home repair and improvements over the years.

Mr. Rosenbaum was professional, courteous and extremely competent each time he came to our home for repairs and installations. I am extremely thankful to have found him through Angie's list. I will be calling him in the future for all of our around the home handyman needs.

1. Gave some time saving tips by email first 2. Did excellent job on repairs 3. Repaired the door lock instead replacing it. That saved us $40. Good value & advice!! Would definetely recommend!

Not only was Mr. Rosenbaum punctual, he worked with me on the schedule so that I didn't have to miss work. My new dryer was delivered when I wasn't home. Lint was under the dryer caused by the old dryer vent. Mr. Rosenbaum cleaned it up. He was very professional and was such an inspiration. I appreciated his helpful advice. He even removed a storm door that I have to replace because the handle was broke. I will recommend him to all my friends who live in the area and his card is in a very safe place in case I need additional work done.

After loading my washer with a full load of clothes and then find out it didn't work, I went online to find a local repair man. It was a Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised to find Larry with Justin's repair. He called back and was at my house withn an hour.It was a simple repair which he explained to me and was reasonable. I'd call again if needing an appliance repair.

Poor workmanship. The doors were not straight. The areas where the hinges were mortised was sloppy.

I found this company using Angie's List and called them on a problem I was having with a Kenmore washing machine. Larry was prompt in getting back to me and setting an appointment. He showed up right on time and was so friendly and professional! Larry is super knowledgeable. I can't say enough on how good Larry was to work with. The service and quality of work was awesome and the price was very reasonable. When I have a need for work in any area that Justin Repairs does I will certainly give them a call. I highly recommend them!

We have had Larry work on several items including installation of hardware for kitchens, intstallation of outdour lighting, toilet repair, etc. Service has always been fantastic.

He did everything possible to repair the appliance. He got the parts, did the analysis and explained my options. Together we decided that given the make, condition, history and value of the appliance that I would do better investing in a new one. The repair would be fairly costly (parts) and the problem was likely to re-occur, as in the past. He was totally honest and looking out for my interests. He only charged me trip fee even though he did work on the unit.

He did a great job and cleaned up after each project.

Everything went amazingly. I emailed Larry with some requests, and he was at our house first thing in the the morning 2 days later. He was very responsive to calls and very flexible with taking calls in the evening. Originally, we only had Larry look at our dryer vent to fix it being bent, but he actually consulted with us about the routing it took through our garage and in the way of our car and offered a much more efficient and direct solution for it to route, which was out of the way of our car in the garage, which was a lifesaver. He also came prepared with all the supplies needed and made recommendations for the ones of the highest quality and most economical. Overall, we were very happy with his responsiveness, service and professionalism.

Overall, the experience was good. The pricing was fair and he was pretty responsive. He did a good job!

It took a long time to do. I had no way of knowing how long it would be. But he did a good job. No problems.

Larry did a great job with this work. He came on time and took great care with everything he did.

After making the trip to my house and assessing the problem, Larry decided that no special adjustments were needed at this time, and only a little silicone lubricant in the right spot was needed to take care of the problem at this time. Larry said that since he did not do any work, he was not going to accept any pay. Larry even called me at a later date to make sure I did not have any further problems with the door. Larry seems to embody a great combination of ethical standards and expertise. I will not hesitate to call Larry again in the future.

Larry performed the work as expected and also identified several other problems, which he fixed. We would definitely use him again!

I called on a Saturday morning and had to leave a message explaining my problem and asking if he would take on the job. Larry called me in the early evening and apologized that he had not been able to come on Saturday, but that a job he was working on when I called had a severe run-over that he needed to complete. He told me that he does not work on Sundays, but asked if Monday morning would be alright. He also explained his pricing, which was $65/hr -- no travel time or service fees. WE agreed on a time on Monday. Larry was a few minutes late. He apologized and explained that he had had a pipe burst in one of his walls on Sunday and had a flooding situation going on. Additionally he had found some oil leakage from the car on the garage floor. In spite of those personal emergencies, he explained that he felt my situation was more of an emergency and came to perform the work. Since the sticking doorway is metal frame/metal door, he tightened the frame and also re-enforced the strength of the bolt by using much longer screws. He had the door fixed in less that 30 minutes, and then proceeded to adjust the storm door such that it would now close completely and securely, even after the shifting. That was not even part of what I asked him to do, and there was not extra charge. I explained about some other projects I was considering and he gave me some ideas and indicated his interest in performing the work. Overall, a very good experience. I highly recommend this individual/company.

I've used Larry before. He's a good man. He showed up on time. Properly fixed the things that needed fixing and properly installed the new faucets. Larry is friendly and pretty easy to work with.

Larry is very pleasant to work with and really cares about doing a good job. He will fix what he can fix and he will honestly tell you when he can't fix something. He is also prompt and courteous, which is not always easy to find in a handyman.

My 13mo old Whirlpool range with double oven and glass stove top quit working. I called and emailed this company and several others that I found on Angie's list. He is the only one who called back period; he called late in teh day at about 7:30p. He apologized for being late but said he had been on a job; he was very polite and discussed the problem with me. He felt that it was a issue with voltage rather than a mechanical problem and suggested that I check that first. The next day he called me back to follow up and said that he discussed this with his Whirlpool parts supplier and he also felt that it was voltage. He was correct so he did not come out and make any repairs but his help was priceless. I will use him in the future.

He is fabulous! If I have a project that he is unable to fix but he is always able to call someone to get it fixed correctly. He's very honest and resonable in terms of pricing. He explains things thoroughly and gives you the way to fix.
