Description of Work: Interior patching and painting; my first experience with Southern was great. They were professional and work was good. I ATTEMPTED to use them again for a $5000 exterior paint job in the spring of 2013 and my experience was horrific! They missed 3--yes, THREE--dates when they were scheduled to begin the job. They didn't call except the first time. I had to call them and when I did, the man did not apologize or offer an explanation. I finally called and said I was done with them. To the owners' credit, he called and apologized, asking for a chance to regain my business. By that time, I had already hired another company. I believe my problem was the fault of a foreman or supervisor who I'd guess is no longer working there but it was enough to make me skeptical of using them again.

Description of Work: Their crew consisted of one man who from his work was not very experienced. Upon completion one week later there where multiple areas that where either missed or large drips from two much paint. I also would not pay them until they brought back a portion of my guttering they had taken to paint match.. They did not honor my Angie's list discount.

+ -1 morePaint smudges on front door handle, paint drips on sidewalk and on new wood deck. Interior window sill not properly sanded before painting, paint chips left on carpet. Large bubbles on front door, also not sanded. Garage door painted shut. Entry doors to house left open when crew left allowing rain into house. As a courtesy and precaution, I should have been told the doors were open and the crew leaving. Anyone or anything could have entered and my pets could have walked out. Interior paint is not even a close match. I provided the names of the manufacturer and color of the original paint. I didn t expect an exact match but did expect a reasonable effort. I noted the mismatch to the crew leader and he suggested they paint the rest of the woodwork with the new color. I countered that it made more sense to take a cabinet door to Home Depot and try to get a closer match. He responded Yeah, you can do that if you want to.
Description of Work: Paint exterior of house and touch up small amount of interior woodwork.

+ 0 moreDEREK'S CREW WAS ON TIME AND POLITE. THE WORK WAS REASONABLY PRICED. THE QUALITY OF WORK ON THE TRIM WAS POOR, TOO MUCH GLOSS TRIM PAINT ON WALLS UNDER THE TRIM. THE CREW CAME BACK TO MAKE CORRECTIONS, BUT THEY DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM TO OUR SATISFACTION. DEREK DID NOT COME BY TO INSPECT THE WORK AFTER COMPLETION AND HE WAS HARD TO CONNECT WITH, TOO MANY PHONE CALLS TRYING TO CONTACT HIM.
Description of Work: REMOVED WALL PAPER FROM KITCHEN AND NOOK AREA, TEXTURED WALL AND PAINTED, AND ALSO PAINTED FAMILY ROOM.
