No way, no how would I ever refer Schlitzberger's to anyone. Tommy, the father of the owner, David, sold me my job. I chose granite from Lackstone, and Tommy went with me to order the granite. He also went with me to pick out and order the tile from Arizona Tile. Tommy's vision for the granite and backsplash were good. The execution of the job was purely unprofessional. I ordered my job in September. In December I told Schlitzberger's to stop working entirely and I was done with them. September 19 - placed order September 24 - counters measured Oct. 7 - backsplash removed Oct. 30 - first two counters installed ....many days of work and time.... Dec. 15 - work still not finished After Schlitzberger's removed my backsplash (thankfully, we did not remove my counters as they had planned), they told me "my job would be done on October 30). This was far from the truth. They showed up about seven hours late, and they only brought my back countertop. They had no intention of installing my island countertop, my backsplash, or either of my desks. This impacted my schedule for my appliance install, so they finally brought my island counter to my house and installed it at 9:00 at night. They did not consult with me about the design of the sink when they altered the plans from what they had shown me. They did not even know if they could seal the type of granite that they made my sink out of or my back counter top. They planned on doing my backsplash and two built in desks "some time later." The cut of my desktop did not match the obvious angle of the trim on my desk, so they suggested that they should send out a cabinet person to match the trim to the incorrectly cut counter. Weeks later, they installed my second desktop. Their backsplash installer, Cesar, was unskilled, as was his helper. They continually created electrical sparks in my kitchen by placing a level over hot wires on in my electrical outlets. My wall was not level behind the backsplash, so they built up the wall with mud. When they installed the tiles, many tiles were crooked, many cuts did not match up, and many cuts were crooked. I had to fight with them to correct the poor workmanship. They finally suggested that they would mount my tiles to hardiplank in their shop and the install the backsplash tile as if it were a slab. They did nothing in their shop, but they mounted part of the tile to hardiplank in my garage. During the job, they removed my under-cabinet lights, and Tommy told me I would have to hire an electrician to reinstall them -- which I did not do. Several times, their worker did not show when he said he would, and then he told David that I was not home when he got there, even though I was waiting at my house. Again, tiles were crooked, which I noted to them before they finished. They did not fix these tiles, and continued the job while I was not at home. When they said they were finished, the tiles were crooked, cuts were again mismatched, and one whole portion of my backsplash is noticeably unlevel. They also used the wrong color of grout -- we had agreed on light colored grout to match my tile, which they did the first time. They used dark colored grout the last time. As a result, all of the backsplash needs to be redone, again. Tommy suggested, "if you can just wait until next year, we will fix it." David does not manage his company or his crew well. He promises "this will be perfect," and falls far short. When major problems arise, he shifts into 8-5 mode and stops answering his phone, often times never returning calls or having someone from his office who is unknowledgable about your project call you back. I missed a lot of work during this installation. I authentically regret using Schlitzberger's.

This was a very complex job with unique materials. The sink and perimeter tops were made from Meteorous shist, a beautiful stone formed of compressed layers of mica. This stone is difficult to work due to the flaking of the edges, and we admit that this job took longer than expected. We tried to accommodate the customer by coming to his home after hours, and we made numerous install trips to work around his schedule (as correctly indicated in the customer's review). At the completion of the job we genuinely thought the stonework looked amazing. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused this customer. We always focus on the artistry of the stonework, but we also try to imagine ourselves in the customer's shoes: trying to put a kitchen or bath back together with limited time and multiple contractors.

After the father and son got there act together. It slowed down the whole process they couldn't get to the pack splash in until they put the counter top in. Which was I will be there next week. Then the next week. They placed, them in such a hurry the forgot tom put the wooded template down int the kitchen. Now I can't mount my dishwasher to the cabinets. Like I side when you got them there they worked. Made me fell like my house wasn't big enough for them.

Tommy, the owner, came out, examined, and photographed the crack. He showed that the crack and its reappearance were caused by lack of any support of a long area of the granite where the crack formed. The space the previous installer allowed between decking and the granite permitted flexing and cracking of the granite. Tommy showed how the unsupported granite retained a limited ability to move up and down, thus risking the possibility of more cracking. Tommy's men solved the problem by hardpacking the empty space and expertly filling in the crack so that the repair appears to part of the veining of the granite. Tommy and his men exuded professionalism throughout in marked contrast to the unreliability, slipshod installation, and refusal to accept responsibility of the other firm. Tommy saved us the cost of a potential need to replace the whole counter. The excellence of his work makes it easy for us to recommend his company without reservation.
Description of Work: They repaired a reappearing crack in the granite countertop caused by shoddy installation by another firm. After many repeated calls, that firm patched the crack, but the patching material subsequently fell out.
