Roberts Carpets in The Woodlands area did a terrific job for us! We ordered maple wood flooring for our master bedroom and for both master closets. They removed the old carpet and pad after we had moved out all of our furniture in order to save time, although they said they would have moved furniture for us. Their installers were professional and diligent. The only price adjustment was to include the bags of float which were used to level the floor. The job took from April 2 to 7th, allowing for drying time over the weekend, so the installers were in the house on 4 different days only. I highly recommend the company, and especially recommend working with Steve, the store manager.

My sales person Mellisa Lawrence helped me greatly. She recommended a wood flooring that was lighter than I had planned to install, but gave me exactly the results I was looking floor. She did a professional measure and recommended installers. I was pleased with Robert's dispatch and scheduling, on time arrival and quick work. It is disrupting to replace all the floors in your home, but they finished in 5 days including the time necessary for the float to dry and all of my furniture to be moved out and back in. My floors are beautiful and level! and I am extremely pleased with the work. All 3 crews - tile installers, wood flooring installers, and carpet installers were professional and careful of my home and possesions. Thanks Robert's!

We used Robert's Carpet in Stafford/SugarLand approximately ten years ago for carpet and tile, and did not recall having any issues, so when we wanted new carpet we decided to use them again. We drove to the showroom and met with Ron about what carpet to select. We checked out a few sample boards, took them home, and chose the one we wanted. The next day I drove back to the showroom to return the samples and met with Gilbert, who pulled our original house measurements from 10 years ago and used those numbers to calculate a total of approximately $7,000 and take a down payment for half the amount, for which I wrote a check. We shook hands and I was told I'd get a call when the carpet arrived at the warehouse so we could set up installation. So far, so good... ...except about three hours later Gilbert called to say he wanted to come by our house that evening to double-check the measurements because he was concerned they might be wrong, and he wanted to "save us some money" if possible. I had a sinking, "here we go" feeling about this, but we agreed to let him come out anyway because what else were we going to do, really. So Gilbert came out that evening, with the original diagrams of the house, and re-measured everything while making notes on his paperwork. All the time he was there we followed him around and he kept reassuring us that everything looked fine. When he was done, we shook hands and that was that. Until the next day, when he called me and told me there was a problem with the original measurements and that the master bedroom had been left off of them, so our new cost came to over $8,000 instead a little over $7,000 as we were originally told. We were confused by this because the original measurements were used to install the carpet we currently have in the house and clearly they'd been fine for that purpose ten years ago. We spent two days trying to get Gilbert to adequately explain to us why we were being asked to pay a thousand dollars more than originally quoted, but there was never a decent explanation for it. It took us 24 hours just to get him to send us the new measurements, and when we finally got them and called him to go over the information with him, he just didn't have any decent responses that justified the increased cost. In the end we cancelled the sale, because we could not trust that what we were being told was legitimate. We visited the showroom twice and neither time did either salesman mention to us that there was a need to re-measure our house; that only came up AFTER we'd given them a check and signed on the dotted line. My husband also went through and measured the house himself, and his measurements added up to the same as our original paperwork - the paperwork Robert's claimed had an entire room missing. As soon as we started to question their pricing and measurements they got very distant; we had to pester them to get them to follow up with us at all and it took repeated attempts to get them to email us the new numbers (Gilbert would say he was going to email us in five minutes, then an hour would go by and we'd hear nothing, so we'd call back and he'd claim he just sent it, or that he had the wrong email address, etc. etc. There were always excuses why it wasn't getting done). IF there'd been some decent explanation for why the total went up a grand, MAYBE we could have gone with it, but the argument that an entire room was left off the original measurements didn't hold water to us, and we couldn't get anyone to explain how that happened in a concise manner, which left us concerned about what other hidden costs we might encounter or what else might go wrong.
Description of Work: Gave us a quote for carpet and installation but then the price increased after we'd signed the contract and paid half the money. In the end we cancelled the sale.

We had bamboo flooring put in. We had a lot of work to do because it required sanding and cementing because underneath the carpeting was a lot of different layers of residue. It looked beautiful. They did a beautiful job laying it down but the sealant that added additional protection seeped through in certain spots. So we complained. He comes over and he drops off a cleaning solution. I told my husband for the price that we had to pay for those floors, "I'm not doing it" So it took several attempts for them to come out, get rid of the residue and then [unclear 38:38] the floor. So I would not go to them again. It was thirteen years ago. So whatever they're like now, I can't comment on. It left a sour note in our minds. The pricing was higher than what they quoted. They were punctual, we didn't have a problem but it took several attempts to get them back here four or five times. I've heard from other people that for some reason their quality of work has gone down.
Description of Work: Roberts Carpet & Fine Floors put in wood flooring for us. It included the dining area, living room area and one hallway. It was carpeting initially, that was taken off and then we had hard wood.

The Initial Sales experience was good. Salesman was knowledgeable and helpful. After Ron Wilhiter (Sugar Land Store Manager) visited our home to measure for the amount of carpet and we agreed to purchase the product the problems began. 1st the price quoted was not the price we where charged. So I called Ron and ask why is it more he indicated that there are some add on fees they are not allowed to discuss. Like the disposal fee and some other charges. Long and short it was going to cost more. So we expressed our concerns about price disclosure and agreed to have the carpet installed. When the installers arrived they informed us that the carpet seams would be different than Ron had quoted and charged and since we where expressly charged and paid for more so the seam would be smaller we were upset. When I call Ron and asked about the second discrepancy he indicated he never told us that and never sold us additional. However, I have the drawing that shows the additional carpet required and the seam layout. When I asked if they could give us some sort of discount he said he would have to call his customer service manager at corporate. I have never gotten a call back. Of course we did not have to accept the carpet as presented but since they had already ripped out all our old carpet and Habitat for Humanity had already picked it up and they had 1/2 of our money and we would have to wait another month while they ordered the proper amount of new carpet. We agreed to let them install the carpet AS IS My complaint is with Ron Wilhiter the store manager and sales person he has no integrity and as a result gives Roberts Carpet a Black Eye. Their Installers did a great job. They did remove the disposal fee after we gave the carpet to Habitat for Humanity however, they only deducted $50 instead of the $90 Ron told me at time I questioned them on the hidden charges. I just did not feel like arguing.

The lady in the office was really nice. She was excellent in explaining all about the floors, the types of woods, and all the tiling. She helped us design with the tile. They were very accommodating with the dates. They did everything in the right time that they said. They said they would be here in a week and they did the job exactly in a week so it was perfect. They were very professional. The floors are beautiful and everything was really nice.

Overall it's okay. They hired out contractors to do the work not necessary their own employees. There was a miscommunication between the person who showed up to do the work and the stores. So the person who came didn't know for example which tile went where. There was miscommunication too with the scheduling. But I didn't have much communication with the store manager but the one I spoke to was the gentleman who I guess was in charge of all the contractors. Any concerns we had were quickly resolved. People who come to do the work are not necessary their employees so just be aware that you might have to communicate things twice or pursue more help if you needed early on.

It’s been great so far. I haven’t had the flooring installed yet because I have had foundation problem. I had to have the foundation fixed and then wait 3 weeks. Then I can get the flooring put in. I have already paid a part for the flooring. The customer service with Ron Willhide was dead on; it was perfect. The quote was about $6,741 for wood floor plus the float. The quote for the tile was $2,169 plus the float. The float is $40 per bag. It was just very easy talking to the sales person. He wasn’t pushy. He told me about the sale item and when that sale would be ending. It was within our budget and I was able to bring home a large sample of the wood that I wanted. He came out to the house and measured to make sure there wasn’t any moisture or there has to be a moisture barrier. He came out and measured everything. In fact I am going to get carpet from him later on in the year or maybe next year. He went ahead and measured all that too so I have an idea of the square footage that I have upstairs. Then I can just go in and see what kind of carpet I want. I had checked out some other places and this was a very good price. The quality is A1.

I was very pleased with the experience at the store and the installation. I visited the store several times and took samples home four times before I found ther one I really liked. Price was a factor and I did have several flooring stores come out to give estimates/ The installers arrived percisely at the time the appointment was scheduled and worked around the inclement weather. I am very please with this experience. They moved all the heavy furniture out of the room and made sure they put it back to my satisfaction. They did a great job! I have more carpet to replace and I will go back to Robert's Carpet again. Great experience and happy with the outcome.

My husband and I went to the Woodlands store of Roberts Carpets on Saturday, October 6 to buy some high quality carpet for our Master Suite. The salesman was "Joe" C. He was not very informed about the products or he was just being a jerk when asked several questions about density, twist, weight etc. Acted like he didn't know what I was asking. We brought a sample square of carpet to match with like-kind and he identified it incorrectly as nylon when it was actually PET (High-quality Polyester). Given that there was at least one other sales person on duty, I did not appreciate his walking away from us without a word to take care of other people who walked in after us. Three times Joe walked away without a word leaving us to stand waiting for him to come back to continue helping us. Finally, we asked if someone could come to our home to measure the job. Joe said he would do that on that coming Tuesday. He took our information and we scheduled an appointment time for him to come and measure the room. When we requested that he come anytime after 10:30 or 11 am on Tuesday he said he had to open the store at 10 am so he had to come over to our house earlier than that. Very reluctantly we acquiesced and set the appointment for 9:30 am. Joe also rudely wanted to know why we wanted a later appointment. He leered at me and asked, "Does your husband sleep in, eh??" We left with four samples of the carpet we wanted that Joe was to pick up when he came on Tuesday to measure the job. A job which, by the way, would have been approximately $3000.00 total. After going home on that Saturday I had time to analyze Joe's lack of product information, uncaring conduct and obnoxious comments and told my husband that I was not sure if we would buy from Roberts Carpet because of Joe. We decided that we would give Joe a chance to keep the Tuesday measuring appointment and then we could return the four carpet samples to Joe and he could give us his estimate for the carpet. Well, none of that ever happened! That's right........Joe NEVER SHOWED UP FOR THE 9:30 am APPOINTMENT.that he insisted was the only time he could come and measure the job. As a matter of fact, today is October 16th (his missed appt. was for Oct 9th) AND WE STILL HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THE MAN!!! We still are waiting for him to come and pick up the four carpet samples that he also insisted he had to have back as he made me almost beg to bring them home with me. GO FIGURE.....why this company didn't want our $3000.00 CASH business is beyond me. We ended up buying a top quality 80 oz Karastan carpet from someone else and they got our $3234.81 in cash.

We went to the store to find carpet to replace our entire second floor. When we pulled up, the only sales person working was smoking a cigarette in front of the store! When she was finished smoking, she approached us complianing about the constuction on the store. We told her what we were looking for and she said the carpet we were standing by would work. When we started asking questions about the other carpets in the store, she seemed irritated and explained she was the only one working. She told us to look around while she had to go help another customer!

Response from Roberts Carpet & Fine Floors
It is truly unfortunate that our salesperson demonstrated such a lack of enthusiasm in this matter. Unfortunately, Pergo, once again, has completely revamped their line; products, warranties, installation instructions, etc. As the changes have taken place, the communication with the retailers has been slow in coming leaving the retail salesperson feeling unprepared to give good information to clients. It is regretable that we were not able to clearly express the situation to our possible customer.

Overall the process was smooth and professional. We were apprised each step of the way on the progress of our project. Clean-up with tile remodeling is always an issue, so we were pleasantly surprised inside the house with a less then expected level of dust. Outside the house the crew was not as tidy, especially in cleaning up the backyard concrete, where a lot of water was used leaving our backyard muddy. We will definitely consider using Robert's Carpets again. The only drawbacks we found were the lack of a lifetime guarantee - which some local companies do provide; and the fact the company did not assist in the replacement of wooden thresholds to adjoining rooms. Again other companies will provide this level of service.
Description of Work: We updated the existing tile in our kitchen with a ceramic tile. The knowledge of the sales staff at the Woodlands' office was impressive. Staff listened to our family's lifestyle, directing us to appropriate choices for our family. The pros and cons of various tile grades and selections were explained, allowing us to make an informed decision re: our upgrade. We obtained several bids for our project. Robert's Carpets was by far the best overall bid. We never felt like we were being "sold" a product during our interactions with The Woodlands' staff. . The installers arrived as scheduled for the duration of the project, staying late as needed to ensure the project finished on time. They attempted to control the amount of dust generated by the project by blocking off the construction area. The crew was professional and clearly took pride in their work. Overall we were pleased with the crew and the quality of the job performed.

Very well. Everyone showed up on time and worked straight through. The process went much faster than I had expected, but, I also had the house fully prepared and free of obstructions. Some parts of the process were messier than I expected, but with no previous experience, I have no complaints. Be aware of one thing: Your wall to wall carpeting is not that clean, no matter how often you vacuum it. That was the real shocker. I am so glad I am switching to tile.
