1st the price quoted was not the price we where charged. So I called Ron and ask why is it more he indicated that there are some add on fees they are not allowed to discuss. Like the disposal fee and some other charges. Long and short it was going to cost more. So we expressed our concerns about price disclosure and agreed to have the carpet installed.
When the installers arrived they informed us that the carpet seams would be different than Ron had quoted and charged and since we where expressly charged and paid for more so the seam would be smaller we were upset. When I call Ron and asked about the second discrepancy he indicated he never told us that and never sold us additional. However, I have the drawing that shows the additional carpet required and the seam layout. When I asked if they could give us some sort of discount he said he would have to call his customer service manager at corporate. I have never gotten a call back.
Of course we did not have to accept the carpet as presented but since they had already ripped out all our old carpet and Habitat for Humanity had already picked it up and they had 1/2 of our money and we would have to wait another month while they ordered the proper amount of new carpet. We agreed to let them install the carpet AS IS
My complaint is with Ron Wilhiter the store manager and sales person he has no integrity and as a result gives Roberts Carpet a Black Eye. Their Installers did a great job.
They did remove the disposal fee after we gave the carpet to Habitat for Humanity however, they only deducted $50 instead of the $90 Ron told me at time I questioned them on the hidden charges. I just did not feel like arguing.
