It wound up more than doubling in cost. They were working for almost 12 hours. Moved from Houston to Katy, moving a 2-bedroom apartment. I had things stolen, things broken, I had damage to 2 doors in my apartment. They said that they would come back to fix that and they never did. They moved a queen-sized bedroom suite (bed, 2 end tables, a dresser, and an armoire), office chair, 2 bookshelves, as well as art work. They also moved a lot of boxes as well. I was quoted at a 3.5 hour move (including things to be moved, time, and the fact that elevators were involved). One of the owners of the company arrived with another guy that doesn't speak any English at all and one that speaks both English and Spanish. The Bilingual worker was screaming most of the day at the guy who spoke only Spanish.. Jack (the owner) told them what to do and then disappeared. I did not know where he had gone, I assumed he was outside doing something. They took some items out of Apartment A. I went out to the catwalks and they had stuff just sitting on the floor by the elevator (which was outside because it's all outdoors). My $1200 zero-gravity chair was just sitting there, the elevators were packed to the ceiling with stuff. They broke both of the elevators while they were there. I went down to the truck and there is another pile of my stuff outside the truck on the ground. So we have a pile outside the first floor elevator, the 4th floor, and outside the truck. Jack is still no where to be found. I was on the 1st floor next to my pile of stuff and Jack was there. I smelled live smoke. I said that someone was smoking and Jack had said "No we don't allow our guys to smoke". Turns out that he was the one that had been smoking and he just dropped the lit cigarette in the middle of my stuff, thinking that I wouldn't see it. Didn't set anything on fire, but he didn't care enough to put it out. I went on to my new apartment, where my daughter was waiting, and he showed up about an hour later. He had stopped to pick up another worker and he said that because I had way too much stuff it took longer. My daughter is livid by this time. The movers were moving stuff in that was broken and damaged. They went into the bedroom and they were in there forever. We didn't know what they were doing. They had the mattresses set up over the door so we could not get in, but grandson is a big guy and he just pushed through it and they couldn't figure out how to get the bed together. It took my daughter to figure out how to put the bed together. Back in my original apartment, one of the workers walked in on me using the restroom, without knocking or anything on the closed door. he didn't apologize or anything. Just grunted and walked out. But Jack said that because I had so much stuff and it was so much work, that's why it was more expensive than was originally quoted. He more than doubled the price on me by the end of the day. I started out with $300 and I believe I went and got another $250 or $300. I was still $50 short. I could have gone to the ATM and gotten the remainder of the money, but I was so furious that I told him that I didn't have any more money to give them. Jack told me that if I didn't pay the remainder of the balance that we were even for any damages or anything. They had stolen a designer lamp from me. I called and spoke to Jack's brother and let him know that the lamp was stolen from me. I told them that I was going to file a report and that was the only thing that got his attention. I don't know how he got into the building, but around 10 pm, he calls me and tells me that he's already in the building (we have secured building and secured gates). I had my son stay on the phone with me because I was fearful. He did pay me for the stolen lamp, but not before threatening to take me to court for the remainder of the bill if I took him to court for the lamp. I did again tell them that I was going to file a police report and it was at that point that they agreed to pay for the lamp. I would never use them again and I would strongly caution anyone from using them.
