Levinson's Construction

Two people from Levinson's Construction came to remove some wallpaper from a fur down in our relatively small kitchen. I had purchased four man hours for $99 and assumed that it would be more than enough time for them to remove the wallpaper from that relatively small surface area. However, when they began, it became apparent that we were dealing with decades of wallpaper over primer over wallpaper, and it was not a simple or quick job to take it down. Although they had warned me that the amount of time it would take to remove any amount of wallpaper would depend on its state, I was not really happy about paying an extra $170 for the two extra hours it took for the workers to finish or rearranging our plans that day in order to be home for the extra amount of time. I do not fault them for the amount of time it took to remove the wallpaper, but it would have been nice if they had given me an estimate for the total amount of time once they got started and saw what the issues were. Also, it would have been nice if they had been willing to take a few shortcuts in order to finish the job faster, as I had hinted at (such as, "I'm not interested in getting all the way down to the drywall; could you just prep it for pain and make it smooth?"). And it would have been best of all if they said, when they first saw the job,"Why don't you just put some 1/4" drywall over that wallpaper and paint that, rather than stripping it all off first?", which is what someone else later suggested and which would have saved us hundreds of dollars. (I certainly would have given them that job, had they had the experience to see that simple solution and the integrity to say so.) I give them a less-than-perfect score not because they did not do good work but because that level of work was, in the end, not what was best for this customer.

They are among the best people I've worked with. I was continually informed of progress and the cost as the project progressed. They worked efficiently and neatly.

April and Carlos were about one hour late due to car trouble, but she did call ahead of time and let me know about the delay which was good. They were very professional and kept the house tidy as they went about their work. I bought the $99 three hour labor big deal. Before beginning the job April told me how much the additional labor and materials would be since the work could not be completed with three man-hours, which was understandable given the scope of the work. The actual work took substantially longer than quoted, but she would only accept payment for the amount quoted at the beginning which was very professional. The quality of the work was wonderful, and I will definitely use April again if the need arises. I have already recommended her to a friend.

The crew was promt in their arrival time and completed the task within the time allotment. The ladies did a wonderful job from start to finsih. Very tidy and professional.

I purchased the coupon from Angies List and was called back within the day - and got on the schedule for the next day due to another cancelled appointment. The 4 hours coupon was for 2 hours - 2 people. It ended up taking almost 6 hours to complete the job - but I'd rather have someone do it for me then have to do all the removal myself. The only complaint is that there is still a lot of wallpaper glue that has to be sanded down before we can paint the walls.

April called me right back, and scheduled an appointment promptly after hearing the description of the job. She showed up right on time with her helper, and together they knocked out a complex dry wall cut-out repair,plaster and paint. The whole job took longer than 3 hours, but after it was done it looks like and is indistinguishable from the original drywall. One cannot tell where the repair was made at all. April was fast, talented, and most importantly, she cleaned up every last piece of dust without being asked. She is a great skillful contractor. Thanks April!

Living in a home during a remodel is never easy but it was well worth the effort. I had my home painted and floors replaced. I started out with the painting at the flooring companies request, if I would have to do it over again painting would be done last. April and her crew are very detailed oriented and I would not worry about "accidents" on the floors. My furniture and belongings were covered with new unused plastic drop cloths. Items were carefully moved and replaced. I had painted several test colors on my walls and she took the time before she even had the job to help me decide on what would work best in my home and lifestyle. Each day she and her crew arrived on time and stayed cleaned up every day before leaving. She even offered to come in after the floors were finished and do the touch-up herself since her name was on job. I will keep her number on speed dial for life's little accidents. I used to laugh at the big box commercial about "getting this years colors on the wall this year", I would think yeah right to much effort. I will use Levinson's Construction to repair, change and update periodically without hesitation.

Took a very long time for WP removal many days. Then when it came time to paint it seems like everything was a bit rushed, then got a little sloppy at the end when one of her painters wanted to go home early. Then on the master bath it was getting more rushed, and cleanup was not happening. Then April had to leave for a couple of weeks and I went ahead an hired another person from Angies list to complete the job, they knocked out the rest in no time. The master bath still looks pretty sloppy, I did not contact April to fix it, Im sure she would have, she was very nice, and she did not feel good about leaving the job unfinished. For a large job I would not use this group again.

April, the owner of the company, and her helper arrived promptly at scheduled time. They began with the work right away and worked until job was complete and I was satisfied with the results.

They came out to assess the work. I gave them my email so they could get back to me with an estimate, but they never sent one to me or called.

Did an excellent job and repairing cracks in sheetrock wall, also provided and caulked gap in tile floor between wall and floor. Excellent work

Went very well - timely, neat and clean. Also very good communication with Ms. Levinson regarding scheduling and rescheduling job. She is excellent to work with.

The two-person team arrived promptly and set up to begin steaming off the wallpaper. They worked solid for four hours and then gave me a quote on finishing the stripping job and repairing the drywall. I knew the wallpaper would be tough to remove, as it was similar to butcher paper and did not have the standard backing that modern wallpapers have. When I agreed to the additional work, the team finished the job. The additional charge was reasonable, and the walls were ready for me to paint or paper. They did a fair job of cleaning up after themselves, but this was the kind of job where small bits show up later in crevices.

April arrived with one other person to begin working. I showed her the the two spots that needed to be repaired, and she got to work. They laided drop clothes down and was very clean in their work. I was very impressed with the quality. So I asked them for a quote on another spot that I had, and they charged me less than the hourly rate, even though this additional work took about an hour. They even spoted a hole I wasn't aware of and fixed it no charge. Only thing I would suggest is that April get some more staff, as she has become very busy, so it takes a little time to get on her calendar. Other than that, great service, and would use again.

Contractor gave me an estimate the same day I called her. Her price was reasonable and she started the repair on time as scheduled. Sheet rock repair was done on the first day and on the second day, she textured and painted the ceilings. She even went the extra step to match and pick up the paint at the paint store. Every thing went very well.

I purchased an Angie's List deal to have the wallpaper removed from a small area in the guest bathroom. When I called to schedule the work, I was told that their next available date was over a month out. Which I rather expected because contractors can get very busy with these coupons. The day of the work, they were incredibly late. They did call to inform me and apologize. Apparently one of their employees locked the keys in the van. After they arrived and I showed them the area that needed to be worked on they got right to work. They laid down drop cloths and covered the vanity and floor. The wallpaper that needed to be removed only totaled about 40 sq ft, but it wrapped behind the large wall hung mirror. The crew consisted of two women and I did ask them if they wanted my husband and the neighbor kid to take it down. They said no, that they had it. Well, they didn't have it. The edge was dropped and broke a large portion of it. Again they were apologetic and told me to just let them know how much it was to replace it and they would pay for it. I called several glass places to get an idea of the cost. Then I told her the range of prices. They opted to simply go to the glass place themselves to purchase the mirror and bring it back the same day. Which was okay with me. In the mean time, they did work on taking the wallpaper down. That part went just fine. The ugly 70s wallpaper came down and they even sealed the drywall behind it as some of the paper backing came off with the wallpaper. At the end of the day, I did end up with the wallpaper removed and basically the same mirror I started with; however, the path to get there involved a little more drama that I would have liked.
