 + -1 moreIt went fairly well. I had called these guys based on the Angie's List reports. They showed up promptly for what I thought would be an estimate. In order to assess the leak, they had to dig a hole to access the water lines and since they were hip deep in dirt, they just did the repair. They did a nice job and the price was hard to beat. They charged $356 for the repair and the replacement of several sprinkler heads and a general checkout of the whole system. A plumbing company made me a bid of just under $1000 for just the repair. Update: When they had to return on 7/3/08 to again repair a feed line connection/leak, they charged me $197. That repair lasted 3 years and then apparently their work or glue joints failed in 2011.
Description of Work: We had a leak where the irrigation system tied into the water line between the meter and the house. We also had some broken sprinkler heads. Irrigation Design Services repaired the leak and the sprinkler heads in a few hours. First repaired by this company in January, 2008. Then leak reoccurred in July, 2008. The company promptly came back out and fixed the leak. The problem was again where the PVC sprinkler feed line connected to the copper pipe that attached to the main water line to the house. Update, 6/1/11: The PVC lines/joints attaching the anti-siphon/cutoff valve sprung a major leak. A neighbor was having a sprinkler system installed at the time and the guys doing it kindly came over and repaired the joints for free. Update, 4/26/12: Broken sprinkler PVC line , probably due to car driving over fitting (next to driveway) and three of six valves are "missing" in the yard somewhere. This company is coming out to repair the broken line and find the missing valves.

 + -1 moreDidn't go, as he never returned my call let alone show up for the appointment. I called another person to come fix my sprinkler system. Estimated cost was $75.
Description of Work: Talked to Michael and he told me he could repair a sprinkler head. Said he would come over the next day at 4 p.m. I left work early to meet him. At 4:30 I called and got a recording and left a message. 30 minutes later I called again to the second number listed and again got a recording and I again left a message and asked if he was coming over and if he would call me to let me know. He never showed up and never returned my calls.

 + -1 moreMichael was great. He was easy to locate and respond very promptly. He came to my house within 24 hours of the initial inquiry. He gave me an accurate estimate on the phone. He was very polite and professional. I will definitely use him again and recommend him to all my friends.

 + -1 moreI called seven companies and three responded. While I don't always go with the lowest bid, Irrigation Design Service was the lowest in this case. That combined with the great reviews on this site made me decide to award the bid to them. The crew arrived at about 9:30, and finished at about 2:00. Before leaving, I was given a demonstration of the work that was done, as well as the proper operation of my control panel. This company knows what they are doing, and they are very professional.
Description of Work: When I moved into this home a few months ago, most of the sprinkler system did not work, and the rest did not work properly. Irrigation Design Services modified the system where needed, and repaired the rest.

 + -1 moreI was very happy. I had another company out who was unable to fix it at all. They even offered to deduct the $275 it cost me for repairs from a new system when I am ready to get a new one. They were very pleasant and so helpful to me since I cannot replace it at this time.
Description of Work: I had a leak in my irrigation system repaired. They also checked the entire system to let me know of any other problems since it is quite old.

 + -1 moreI had an emergency when my pipe burst and started to lose water. The workers came right out, started the job and repaired everything very quickly. Although I was unhappy that one of the workers had cut a bush without telling me first, the owner made sure he corrected the problem right away.

 + -1 moreI felt that they had poor communication skills and lacked commitment to their customers. I decided to just forget the whole thing. When I do something in the future I will not call them and go through this again.
Description of Work: I was going to have them install an irrigation system in my yard of about a quarter acre. They gave me an estimate of $1500. I called many times to schedule the appointment to get this installed. When I finally got them on the phone they never showed up or called, and we waited on them.

There were two people doing the work. I did speak with them and they did let me know how many needed to be replaced before they did the work.

 + -1 moreThey did a beautiful job. Removing the rock was difficult because there was a lot of it. It took longer than expected. The job also cost a little more than expected because extra sod was required. There are still some stray rocks left, but not too many, and they could have swept up a bit better.

 + -1 moreI replaced my 14 year old mechanical irrigation system controller. It would not work. Took the new one back and got another one and installed it. It still did not work. I didn't have a voltage meter to check out the electrical connections. I called Irrigation Design Services at 11:45 on Saturday. Michael showed up an hour later. He used his voltage meter to check the connection. He found the problem in 5 minutes, a loose common connection. He took all of the connections made by the company that installed it 14 years ago and reconnected them. Works like a charm now.
Description of Work: Michael checked the old wire connections. Found the connection between the common field wire and small wire that connected to the controller was bad. He took all of the old connections apart and reconnected them.

Description of Work: Michael gets my highest rating; professional, personable, and interested. He showed up on time made a couple of minor changes to his original plan (at his cost) and finished my corner lot with a backyard pool in less than a day. He stopped by that evening to go over the controls, settings etc.

 + -1 moreAfter the heavy rains of 14 March in the Houston area, Michael was very busy, but he called twice to let me know that he was delayed or still working on some other issue. When he arrived, with one employee, he immediately went to work checking the irrigation and drip system. He replaced and aligned some of the sprinklers that were no longer functioning. He spoke with me about how I envisioned the new drip system would best be created. Michael is extremely personable ans accomplished exactly what I needed to have done. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want. Based on his initial work with me, if the price is fair, I plan to allow Michael to build the new drip system for me.
Description of Work: Check the lawn and shrub irrigation system, service a drip system for potted plants, and provide an estimate for a new drip system.

 + -1 moreI called on Monday afternoon, and the owner Michael said he could have someone out before noon the next day. Lee called about 8am asking if was OK to come out. I couldn't answer the phone, so he came over anyway to check because this was the only call on my side of town. Lee was very courteous, prompt, knowledgeable about the system, and quick to diagnose and repair.
Description of Work: My sprinkler controller was blowing the fuse repeatedly. The serviceman (Lee) diagnosed the problem at the controller with the RainBird box (faulty solenoid on circuit 1), found the faulty solenoid with the RainBird search device, and replaced the part.

 + -1 moreWe notice the backyard was flooded so I called the water department, which told me the leak was coming from the sprinkler system. When I called to make an appointment, he was very responsive and wanted to go out that afternoon. I however, could not take off work so we made an appointment for later in the week. The appointment came and he was a no show, so I called him. He apologize (he forgot) and sent a helper within the hour. The helper said that it would be around $500 if they had to replace all of the valves, but they would try to save them if he could. The helper worked for an hour; he ran out of light. They came back the next day when no one was home to complete the work. Michael showed up later on that day to invoice me. I paid him, but found out a week later that one of my five stations did not turn on. He sent a helper out the next day when I was home to fix the problem at no cost. He was very professional and the price was reasonable.
Description of Work: We had a leak on the main line to the valves. They cut out the manifold to the values and repaired the main line and replaced one out of five valves.

Mike confirmed that the old control system was not available anymore. He asked how many zones I had and brought the correct new control with him when he came the day after I called him. I was informed that there was a back log of work and the job could not be completed for a few weeks; which was fine with me. I was contacted a few days later and informed that they had a break in their schedule and could begin the next day. They did a great job of cutting the grass and digging the trenches. I have a large yard, so the job took 2 1/2 days to complete. I did have a leak about a week later and they came the next morning and took care of the problem.

 + -1 moreThe men that came to my house were exactly on time and very nice and knowledgable. They determined the problem within minutes and had everything finished within 35 minutes. The only problem that I had was with me, I had trouble making adjustments to the system. The owner was kind enough to come out the same day that I called since he was going to be in the facinity and made the changes and did not charge me for additional time, even though the trouble was with me and I told him so on the phone.
Description of Work: I called and requested that someone come out to inspect and repair my sprinker system and adjust it for me. He arranged for one of his workers to return the next morning at 7:30, which was perfect. He determined the problem with the system immediately and repaired it. In addition, several sprinker heads needed to be replaced or repositioned and that was done also.
