Houston Pool Table Movers

In-State Moving Service, Out-of-State Moving Service,

About us

What brings me here is my passion for this game. I started playing or learning about this game in Louisville, Kentucky. I thought I was really good when I picked up my first cue. I walked into a rundown little pool hall called C & L Billiards and had a 15 year old kid teach me a $60 lesson. That’s when my journey began. I am now ranked a 7 in the A.P.A. and figure in a few more years of practice and competition I will reach semi-pro. A couple of months after I moved here to Houston I started working for one of the largest billiard retailers in the nation. Although they were a great company to work for, being head installer and doing 3 to 5 jobs a day wasn’t allowing me to give each table the time and attention that they all require. I knew that if I wanted to set up great playing tables and give the type of customer service I would want on my own table, I would have to go at it on my own.

Communicated promptly prior to move and showed up on time. The guys were professional and courteous. They did a great job and offered lots of friendly advice on pool table ownership and maintenance. Highly recommend them.

Fabulous. They carried the disassembled table down a floor so that carpet could be easily installed. Then they came back very soon after carpet was installed (maybe next day?) to put it back. They did a great job of assembling. Very friendly and professional.

The guys were great, on time, and gave me a few pointers on maintenance of my pool table. When I first saw the 2 guys that showed up at the pickup location and it was not Dalton (the owner that I spoke on the phone). I was alittle worried, but the 2 guys that did the job were great and it showed that Dalton trained these guys well. Thank you. I would definitely recommend Houston Pool Movers.

The two employees showed up promptly, took the heave slate pieces upstairs (as I had already put everything else upstairs to help expedite the job). Once they centered the base, they made sure my wife and I were happy with positioning of the table before putting the heavy slate pieces on (point of no return). I would hire these guys again as the assembled table looks great with the new simonis felt I bought to resurface the table too. The cost I show is just for the labor to put the table back together, not the cost of the new simonis felt.

I called Houston Pool Table Movers after reading many great reviews on Angie's List and reading about them on there website. I was able to speak directly to the owner, Dalton Riley, and set up a date for installing new cloth in about a week. We discussed all the details and price. My table is a nine foot Connelly Ultimate with two inch thick slate. Because of the extra thick slate we needed a larger cut of cloth than for a standard nine foot table. So the price we agreed to was a little higher than normal at $535 for Simonis 760 cloth and installation. Dalton advised me to get the 760 instead of the 860 that I had asked about and I am very happy with it. Dalton and his helper showed up on time on the agreed date and worked for about 3 hours. They did an amazing job and cleaned up everything perfectly. They also fixed some problems with the rails for no extra charge that were caused by poor installation by a different company. I asked Dalton dozens of questions during the installation and Dalton answered them all patiently and fully. He even gave me some advice about billiard practice since he sometimes plays pool professionally. His comments were all very helpful and interesting. It has been about seven weeks since the work was done and everything is still perfect. I highly recommend Houston Pool Table Movers and I will definitely use them again for any repairs or new cloth.

We sold our pool table on craigslist. We wanted to work with professionals that specialized in the proper disassembly, move and setup of a full-size pool table with a slate surface. It was important that our buyer would be happy with the table, delivery and setup. We also wanted to include the cost of the move in our price so potential buyers would know the complete cost including setup by professionals. The owner was very helpful and responsive as various potential buyers responded to our ad with their questions, locations (some including long distances), schedules. He helped us understand the implication and costs of various options including re-felting options that we passed on to our potential buyers. Houston Pool Table Movers not only provided an excellent service but helped us differentiate our listing from a large number of alternatives; resulting in the smooth sale and delivery of our pool table. I would definitely recommend working with them for both moving and selling your pool table.

Very professional and was able to use existing felt despite previous company removing some of the felt flaps by the pockets.

The 2 men that showed up to do the work were professional and answered all my questions.  I was pleased with the work they did and the pool table had no damage to it from the move.  My issues are certainly not with them.  However, the owner charged me $30 extra from his original quote because of an 'elevator charge' (which is more than a 10% increase from the total quote I originally received) after the work was completed.  Base quote is $270 to move the table I had, and there was an extra $10 stair charge that I knew about and discussed with the owner prior to the job.   Both of these costs are labeled clearly on his website.  Stairs are difficult to move heavy objects, I totally understand the extra charge there.

When I asked the owner about the extra elevator charge once the job was completed, he didn't really do anything except make excuses.  He certainly didn't take the extra charge off my bill.  Which for all I know, he could have made up.  I told him both addresses, mentioning the stairs and the elevator ahead of time when he gave me his quote.  That elevator charge is definitely not mentioned anywhere on his website.  Nor during our initial discussion or quote did he ever mention the extra charge.

First, it makes absolutely no sense as to why there is a charge for an elevator.  Especially a charge more than double a charge for stairs!  Second, when you quote a customer something and then decide to change it after the job is done...that is wrong in my book.  I told him there was an elevator when I booked the job and I would not have used him had I known ahead of time that I would have been overcharged.  Overall, really disappointed with the customer service. There were actually emergency access stairs right next to my condo, so if I wanted to be an awful person I could have made those 2 workers take the stairs instead of the elevator and saved myself $20.  Lesson learned, always get everything in writing.  I didn't get a quote in writing from the owner nor did they bother to give me a receipt one I paid.  I will have to move this pool table again in the next 6-8 months, and I unfortunately have no desire to give this guy any more of my money.

Response from Houston Pool Table Movers
"When a customer calls me I am very thorough with the questions I ask so that I can determine the type of table and all the services required to complete the job. When (removed member name) contacted me she told me it was being moved from upstairs to downstairs, so the quote I gave her only included stairs on one end. My crew contacted me to let me know that it was going upstairs with the use of a service elevator. Although they did not have to carry the pool table upstairs, it was still a long walk from the elevator to the customers residence. My charges are not just based off extra physical work but also the extra time it takes to complete the job. I am a small company with only a few workers that are paid hourly. I pride myself on being very thorough with all my customers when setting up a job, so I would like to convey that if (removed member name) says she did state there was an elevator and I say she did not then it was a simple miscommunication. I also understand that elevator charges are not mentioned on my website because we don't come across them often, but I will take into consideration her concerns as far as adding them. I try to quote all my jobs on a case by case basis and certainly don't make charges up. I am glad she was happy with my workers and hope that she would give us the chance to work for her in the future."

They did a very good job with the rails. They perform like new and the new felt on the rails is a perfect match with the 25 year old felt on the table. The pool table is much more level now. They came when they said they would and did the work quickly. My only issue with them is that I had to remind them of the estimate they gave me and to level the table as part of the work, but once I reminded them they did the work they had agreed to at the estimated price.

I contacted Dalton (the owner) several times before the work was done and he was very professional and helpful. He even called me back on the weekend. He answered all of my questions and I definitely felt confident about his knowledge. He was not available to do the actual job himself so he's workers came out. They were both very friendly and professional. They answered my wife's questions and arrived on time. There were a couple small issues which I notified Dalton about and he was back within a week to correct them. The company stands by thier work and gave me no issues about having to come back to make some adjustments.
[FYI - I had also tried calling the and quot;Originla Pool Table Guyand quot; and it didn't even sound like a company. The person who answered the phone sounded half asleep and then told me he didn't know anything about prices and his wife would call me right back...I never got a call back]

Disassembled table, moved, replaced felt. reassembled. I assumed the owner that I dealt with over the phone and whose bio is listed on his web site would be doing the work. Two other men showed up promptly when agreed. They were fast and efficient taking the table apart and delivered it to my home and set it up. After looking at some videos on the web as to the proper way to re-felt and level the table, I thought they seemed to be rushing the project and used a 2' carpenter's level instead of the machinist's level recommended by the videos. Table looks great and seems to play well so all in all I am happy with their service.

Went perfect. Darryl , called twice to confirm and make me aware of a delay. The tech did a great job and the cost was substantially better than others contacted. Thank you Angie's list for recommending this service.

The owner's name is Dalton Riley and I've used them three times and have referred him to other people who have been very happy with it.
