carpet installation

In the showroom, John, owner/salesman, helped me select laminate wood flooring to replace my worn, unsanitary carpeting. I shared with him that although it was a financial hardship, I needed his services because my granddaughter, who is disabled, had come to live with me when her mother passed away. My granddaughter, who is 10 years old, is unable to walk so she gets around the house by crawling on her hands and knees. He seemed very helpful. I was impressed to see a Bible on his desk and felt he was trustworthy. Referring to this websites reviewer's comment, unfortunately, I found the installation experience much similar to that of those on yelp.com. (Please refer to yelp.com for additional negative reviews). I stayed home with the crew of installers during the entire process and was told by the older installer that he is John's father. The installation was completed in a week with a few hiccups along the way. John never made a site visit to check on the installation. One installed completely, there were a few problems that I needed fixed. The crew was sent out to address the issues. However, I was concerned that the floor was noisy when walked on. It didn't feel like the slats fit together tightly enough and the floor popped and creaked when walked upon. I told them about it and was assured that this was just "settling" and was normal. Since I still had some additional remodeling to do, I kept the extra boxes of flooring they left behind so I could select a matching product to install in the future. Upon inspection, the boxes of wood appeared very plain and generic. I couldn't find the name of the manufacturer, product name, care instructions, warranty or anything. I also observed the wood itself was very thin which was very disconcerting. It was obvious that I had been overcharged for some cheap product that he wanted to get rid of. I called John and asked for the information above that I was in need of however he did not have anything in writing to give me. So, I asked for the manufacturer's name to look up this information on the internet. He was strangely hesitant to answer and finally informed to me that they manufacture the floors themselves (impossible) and told me briefly what cleaning product to use on the floors. During the year since installation, the floors are of obvious low quality. They are noisy, separating, the laminate is peeling away from the wood (particle board? it's glued to, and the glue has completely come off where the floor meets the tile in one room. The section has come completely off and is now breaking apart at between the planks. I've spoken to John several times and sent him photos of the problem areas. He has yet to keep his promise to have it repaired. He has sent no one to repair and the damage is growing as we wait. It appears I'm going to have to pay someone else to fix the floors. I hope other consumers research this company before wasting their money on Floorland of Texas.
Description of Work: Installed 700 sq ft of laminate wood flooring in several rooms of my home.

Response from Floorland of Texas
Hi, I am really not sure when this was posted, however I would like to respond to Mrs. [removed member name] experience. First and foremost, I would like to apologize for any frustrations or inconveniences we may have caused you. It is very unfortunate you feel that way about your experience, and wish I had known this sooner. From my understanding, everything was fine after the job was completed.. On March 1st 2013 (4:56pm) Mrs. [removed member name] sent me a text message stating that she "Loves the floor, the landing is beautiful.. How much to do all my stairs" I responded back saying that I am glad she loves the floor, along with a quote to complete her staircase.(5:05pm) On March 6, 2013 I received a message from Mrs. [removed member name] saying that there is a piece of trim that was not nailed, along with a loose transition. Honest mistake, things happen.. I responded, saying that I will have the guys come back to fix her concerns. We put a work order in to send an installer out, and it was repaired on the week of the 18th of March 2013. On April 9th, Mrs. [removed member name] inquired about getting her remainder stairs done, and maybe her bedrooms. So we discussed pricing. The following day, about 2 months after order date, Mrs. [removed member name] inquired about the products manufacturer. If I said that we are the manufacturer, I was mistaken. The laminate is a private label that we get a manufacturer to produce for us, same as other flooring dealers would carry, only with a different name. All the information about the product is on the contract. Any warranty, care or maintenance information should be in the packaging. And if there isn't, or were thrown away, I will be more than glad to send you the information via email. On May 11th, 2013 Mrs. [removed member name] inquired about cleaning products to use, and instructions. I replied back with all my suggestions with in a few minutes. On October 7, 2013 Mrs. [removed member name] contacted us about 1 or 2 planks lifting. I asked for pictures, and a brief description of the problem area. I set up a repair with a different installer (Pablo) to see what's going on, and repair all of the concerned areas. On October 24th, 2013 Pablo arrives for the scheduled repair. He informs me that the problem area was exposed to water, and was causing the pieces to pull up, swell, and curl. I instructed him to go on and still repair, (even though water is not covered under our warranty) to make sure the homeowner is happy! After this, I assumed Mrs [removed member name] was happy. No call, no text, no email.. Then I come accross this review.. This same review was posted on another site on July 17th of 2014. How can one fix anything without communication? On Aug 7th 2014, I get a call from Mrs. [removed member name] saying her transition came loose (which is shown in the picture she posted) So I gather all the information from her I needed, invoice# date of order, image, a brief description, etc.. I file a repair ticket for her the original installer to come out to fix her concerns. We generally don't have repairs, but usually standard time to get someone out is roughly 2-3 weeks. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later depending our schedule. I'm sorry that she has all these negative things to say about our company, and we appreciate constructive criticism! We cannot better ourselves and our services without it.
