Chavez Painting

We bought a old house and did bunch of updates. We also did painting. Jose was prompt to visit us to give an estimate and it was reasonable. I thought he knew what he was talking about so we hired him. Technically he is good at his job but has poor management skills. I will break down the review to what I liked and what not. Likes 1. Did good job on painting the panels. 2. reasonable estimate. 3. I told him to do some painting at the last minute and he did it. Of course I paid him for that. Dislikes, 1. His crew members smoked and threw buds all over the front and back yard. I had to pick up everything later. 2. After he finished the job, he said he will come back the next day to do some final things and fix the blinds and power plugs. But he did not show up on that day though I told him I was moving to the house on the same day and needed everything done. I called him couple of times but he never picked up my phone. I think I did a mistake of paying in full without him finishing the job. 3. part of the deal was to fix the holes in the drywall due to plumbing work. He did good job on the holes which were visible on main walls. But the holes under the sink are a mess. And never bother to clean after the work under sink. 4. Never gave me a receipt of the payment he received. He said his wife mailed me which I never got. 5. Did not fix some wall electric outlet covers. 6. he said he painted some cupboards in closets but he did not remove move the closet hangers while spraying the paint and now when I hang my clothes, paint sticks to them. It took me half a day to clean those hangers. 7. In some corners behind the door frame of master bath I can still see the old paint. it is not painted properly. And yeah did not fix the drywall in the master bath properly. It looks like someone slapped a blob of paint on the wall and it is full of cracks. Wish I can post the pictures here. 8. He almost messed up all the blinds in the house which he knew we were going to use them. In fact he never bothered to fix some of them until I repeatedly called. For example the upstairs bedrooms, blinds in the formal dining has a missing adjustment stick. 8. He gives excuses a lot for everything. 9. I called him after few days to fix some doors and also cracks in the walls due to foundation repair and he said he will work on that Saturday but never showed up. He dint even bother to call back to follow up. 10. We asked him to break the powder room vanity so we can put a new one which we already bought. He bought in a guy and he did broke down the sink but for some reason took the new one out of the box . we told him to put it back and he never did. Its like they do not pay attention to what you say. So, I think doesn't know how to finish the job or it was my mistake to make the full payment that too without a getting a receipt.

We got quotes from several different painters/painting companies. Jose's quote was the most reasonable (not the cheapest, but we got the feeling that we would get the best value for money from him). He was extremely professional and clean while he was performing the work. We have this huge skylight which is about 20 ft high and he did a great job of painting that too. They arrived on time every day - no delays, no mess ups. They were done in about 4 or 5 days. We even ended up giving him a fairly big tip since we were so happy with his work. The price I have mentioned above included both labor and materials.

Mr. Chavez responded quickly to my request for an estimate and was able to turn around the job in just a couple of days (estimate on Saturday afternoon and started the following Monday). We had a tight timeline to complete work between closing on house and the move-in date, and the crew was able to complete the work in one day (staying well past six p.m. to complete work which helped us out tremendously). He and his crew were exceptionally professional and seemed to take great pride in completing the work with high degree of care. For example, one of the painters founds a quart of trim paint in the garage and proceeded to touch up the crown molding in both the bedroom and bathroom without our asking. I will definitely call on this company again, especially because the quote for this work was extremely competitive.

They were great. They were just outstanding. He got A's across the board.

Jose was prompt and courteous upon our first meeting and tried extremely hard to do the right thing- I just think he was in over his head. I originally hired Jose to drywall our house during a remodel and we agreed upon a price. After going through several sets of workers he sent over who had no idea what they were doing, he finally called in a friend of his who was a drywaller. In order to get the work done, we had to pay more money to get his friend's workers to finish the job. This process dragged on for weeks and they left us with quite a mess- beer cans in the attic, trash on the back patio, a broken lamp and toilet base. Jose felt bad, so he said he would prime the walls for free. The problem is, he never sanded the drywall correctly and were left with scratches and divots and clumps and incorrectly sized outlet holes. It's 8 months later and we're still finding problem areas. Jose was/is an incredibly nice man and he really tried to make things right, but there was a lot of frustration on both of our parts and it's continuing to cost us money to get everything fixed.

Jose Chavez and his crew were on time and started right to work. They had a lot of drywall work to do and painted the living room and dining area. I purchased the paint which kept the price affordable. They moved furniture and replaced it when finished. They Took extreme care in protecting our hard wood floors and cleaned up after the job was completed. We will have Jose and his crew do more work for us.

I called Chavez Painting for a quote on the work and received a call back and visit to make an estimate the same day. It took a couple days (2) to receive the bid for the work via email, but once I decided to work with them, work began the next day. The crew was very nice and did a good job. I would recommend Chavez Painting to others.

The owner is very easy to deal with and cares about his customers. I had an accent color in the bedrooms and his guys did not use painters tape to make the transition. There were also some other areas they painted that were not acceptable to me. I voiced my concerns to Mr. Chavez and he made them redo the areas in question. I wanted custom paint colors to match the bedding and other accents/art work being used in the rooms and used his paint guy with excellent results. He uses Eric at Pittsburgh Paint in Bellaire and Eric was a true color specialist. He was able to make the colors I wanted. I will also use Eric for future paint selections.

They did a very good job. It took a bit longer then expected, but they were upfront and honest. They did a great job and I can tell Joe stands by his work and goes the extra mile. We will have them work for us again.

Mr. Chavez repainted my bathroom after my formerly trusted general contractor did a less than acceptable job. Mr. Chavez came by on a Tuesday night, assessed the project, and agreed to return the following morning to perform the work. He actually arrived a bit early and finished his work in about an hour. Additionally, he walked through other areas of my house and did some touch-up work. He was very reliable, professional, and experienced, and he did a fantastic job. I will most definitely call upon him in the future. I offer my endorsement of Mr. Chavez's services freely and without reservation.

Joe came out the day after we called him and gave us a great estimate. He started work just 3 days later. The crew was on time and professional and Joe was very good at communicating with us. He also did a lot of things that we added in along the way with no or minimal charge. We were happy with the quality of the work and when we did notice a few things that needed a touchup he came out that evening and did it for us. It was a great experience working with Chavez Painting and I'm already thinking about what else I need him to come out and do!

I don't remember how much I spent on their services, but compared to the other quotes I remember it was good. I liked their promptness when they turned up for the quote. I also liked their efficiency and quality of their work. Jose was very good and very effective. He was very fluent and just did a good job.

reatly improved the Mr. Chavez personally performed or supervised the work done. I am impressed by the high quality of all of the work. Mr. Chavez was helpful in planning the tasks and staying in communication by text messages and phone calls. The work progressed according to schedule.

The hardware on the first toilet still does not work, the handle stays in an up position so I have to hold down the handle until the toilet flushes.When the hardware was installed on the second toilet, I was told that the toilet had to be replaced. So he replaced the second toilet but used a new set of hardware for the second toilet and did not give any credit for the brand new hardware he left on the floor.The new toilet's flushing toilet works great. But I cannot use the toilet, because it is not seated properly, meaning if you it on it it sways with your movement.I was not living in the home at the time. So I only became aware of the problems in the beginning of May, when my son and I started moving back into the home.If I had used ARS, which I always have, I would have had a year warranty. So I could get these fixed with no problem and without additional money.As far as the price? They charged the same as ARS anyway. And when I told him I had an Angie's Coupon, he was upset. He was not aware there was a coupon offered at that time on your website. He called in to dispatch to verify the coupon. I think it was only 10 percent, I don't really remember, I just remember that before he even began work that in my mind I thought, I am not using Chavez again if this is how they act towards a customer. Which is why I did not call them back, as I do not want them in my home.I will have to hire ARS, which I have to wait until September as I am on SS. So we use one toilet, and hold up the handle.

They did a great job. I think the price was fair. They did a lot of stuff for us. I give them an A for everything. We didn't have any trouble with what they've done. I will definitely hire them again. It is the best that I can remember.

The work was done quickly and very professionally. The bid for my one story 2300sq. ft. home was one of the lowest received. The crew arrived on time and did an excellant job. All rotton wood was replaced, the pressure washing was done,caulking was done around windows, surfaces were scraped and primed and the painting was done. It was very windy when they were working but they took a lot of care not to get overspray on brick or patio. I was extremely pleased and recommend them highly. I plan to use them again and have also recommended them to family and friends.

They did a great job! All the workers were very careful to not track paint through the house. They took their shoes off while painting in the rooms and then always made sure to slip them on again before walking through the house so any paint on their socks wasn't transfered to the carpet. We had our master bedroom ceiling painted a dark color, so multiple coats had to be applied. I was really impressed with how careful and meticulous they were at getting the lines where the ceiling and the walls met. They did such a good job--way better than I could have done on my own. They did have to come back a second day to finish up, but a lot of that was because his workers arrived half a day late the first day because they got lost. He got started without them, though, and got a lot done. I was happy to see that he didn't use it as an excuse to not get started. The price seemed a little high at first, until I saw how much work went into getting the ceiling and wall lines perfect. It required a lot of taping and cutting and painting and re-painting to make things look perfect. What he did in a day and a half would have taken me a week and a half, and it still wouldn't have looked as good!

I emailed Joe to arrange a quote and he responded right away to schedule. He communicated promptly when the current job he was on ran long and we re-scheduled. I had a deadline to complete the job and Joe met our deadline with time to spare. He was extremely responsive with prompt emails and phone calls throughout the project so I never had to wonder when they were coming or when they would be finished. He and his team were always on time, courteous, friendly, thorough, and organized. Their prep work to protect our furniture and other surfaces was very impressive. They cleaned up each evening, vacuumed their work areas and put away all their tools each day. It was a complete pleasure to work with them, the price was very fair, and the result was fabulous! We would definitely call on them for our next project.

Jose and his team were magnificant! I called him to get an estimate and he was the same day. He was professional, honest, and put me on the schedule within a couple of days. He painted all of the walls inside my house which included 2 bedrooms, living, kitchen, dining, bathroom, and laundry. They were done in one day. One of the best things I can say is that they were very efficient with their time. They painted everything within one day. They also helped move furniture and kept everything clean when they left. They went way above my expectations. After he was done, he told me was going to come back the next day to repair my wall that my puppy had dug through a couple of months prior. So he came back and repaired the sheetrock, textured the wall, and painted it within 2 hours. Then I inquired about if he could do ceilings. I had a couple of seams where the tape had popped. He said that he could do it so the next day they repaired the seams, screwed in the sheetrock, sanded it down, then re-textured and painted. I came home and it was like a brand new house with the paint and the ceiling. I asked him to touch up my back door as I replaced the back window but had not painted it yet. He painted it very well and also touched up the front door for me without me even asking. And he didnt charge extra for the simple gesture. Lastly, he pulled the old caulking from my bath tub and re did all of it from top to bottom. He put on some new stuff that would not mildew over time like the last contractor. It looked great as well when he was done. His pricing was very reasonable, and he is very trustworthy. I was out of town for work and I gave him a key to my house when he did the ceiling. Him and his crew were unbelievable when it came to clean up. They helped me put everything back where it was and even helped me move my furniture back where it was. They vacuumed everything up and were so mindful of keeping everything clean. Look no further than Chavez Painting. When I do the front of my house, I will hire them again.

They were very professional and they even went the extra mile at protecting my wood floors and furninshings while they were painting.

Most reasonably priced, and was available to do the job next day. Very punctual and did the job well.

We received bids from 3 different painting contractors. Chavez painting was the first to respond, first to come for an estimate, and the most reasonably priced. He also was reasonable in his time estimate (2 days as opposed to the 3-5 day and $2500 estimate from another contractor). He even accommodated our work schedules by coming the day after Christmas. Mr Chavez himself with one other person completed all the work. They arrived on time and finished the job in one day (shorter than anticipated!). They cleaned up after themselves better than any other painter we've ever worked with. We will definitely be calling him for all future painting needs.

we recently purchased this home, it had multiple nail and screw holes in several of the walls in the living, dining, and staircase walls, we were having a house warming party that weekend! gave Jose a call and told him the predicament we were in, Jose came that day to look at everything, gave me a estimated price of $500.00, he then returned on Thursday to perform the work, it took him most of the day, he matched the paint perfect, and really made the walls look new again. Jose and his guys were very professional, on time and cleaned up after themselves. Great Job Jose and thanks for getting me out of a bind!!!

I was confident that what I wanted done would be executed right because there was no language barrier. And, it was done. Jose is a self starter and knows his job.He is a very skilled painter and a very good business man. His estimate was great and I will use him again. I will also tell others about Chaves Painting
