Capmire Projects

I contacted Capmire projects and 2 other companies in May for a bid on my kitchen remodel project. Capmire was by far the most professional and willing to listen to my project goals. They understood the price point of my neighborhood and didn't push for expensive upgrades that were not appropriate for my neighborhood. Their bid seemed fair and they became my final choice once I confirmed the wall paper would be removed rather than sealed and painted over. The project didn't start right away so that we could work around vacation schedules. This proved to be advantageous because it gave me ample time to get appliances ordered and granite and back splash tiles picked out. During the month of preplanning, all of my questions were quickly addressed (within a day if not hours) and I was given good direction on what things I needed to have ready for the project start. They were particularly helpful with picking out the granite since my sink side counter is long enough so that not all granite slabs are wide enough to make it seamless. They employed the help of the cabinet company to track down the kind I wanted in a length that would allow for seamless installation so I didn't have to run from granite yard to granite yard. The project kick-off meeting they have with the client is great so that everyone is on the same page and understands the work to be done. They also provide a schedule so you always know what work is going to happen on any given day. The project started on time,progressed quickly, and was done exactly on budget! They estimated 3-4 weeks, but in reality, the project only took 2.5. Not having to install a gas line for the range saved a couple of days and I didn't make changes once the project started, but still the work was done efficiently with some activity almost every day of the project. They also took care to protect my home including the tile floor that was staying and putting up plastic to minimize dust in the rest of the house. The work itself was done with minimal issues. Pre-fab cabinets ended up working well in my kitchen and helped keep costs down. They were fit in without almost no filler strips and look beautiful. One of the cabinets used in the island did have a problem with the finish on the side though. This was corrected without argument with a panel and trim, however, I did have to request that the other end of the island have the same finish so it was balanced. A small piece of the granite was also cut away to accommodate a wood chair rail. My preference would have been to cut the chair rail, but instead a repair had to be made to the granite to make it look acceptable. The back splash pattern behind the stove was some what complicated, but the guys did a great job laying it out so its balanced on all sides. The sheet rock work and paint also look good. At their request, they prefer to have daily updates on issues that I had with any of the work so they could correct it as they went. This worked well and everything that I had a problem with was taken care of with no push back. They were even willing to come back 1.5 weeks after the project was done to free up the window that had gotten grouted shut. A couple of recommendations: I happened to be home when the lighting was being installed. This proved to be a good thing since there were a lot of electrical questions and the lights were hung at the height I wanted. I would also recommend having a detailed plan of the granite installation so that it is done to your liking and requesting they call you if something unplanned comes up during installation. Overall, the kitchen looks great and I'm super happy with how it all came together. The kitchen looks high end without having spent a fortune to get it. Cameron and Casey are really good to work with since they are very customer service focused and definitely devlivered on my project! It's hard to complain about quality work that is done on time and on budget.

I called them 5 or 6 times over the past two weeks, left very detailed messages with a description of what we needed, where we lived, and our phone number, and no one ever returned our call. It's a shame . . . . they really sounded great.

Cameron and Casey were great to work with. They were friendly, kept me informed of progress, cost and and issues, but most importantly they were there in contact with their crews (I was running two room remodels at once) and their entire crew were all working from the same song sheet in perfect unison. They were always on time and I knew who was coming in advance. Casey and Cameron do use sub contractors but they were all teams of people that they had used many times before and you could tell that, especially with their team leads. My first comment on the workmanship is that their cabinet maker is an artist. He built a new custom island for the kitchen and you can't tell that it was not part of the original cabinetwork. Every detail on the trim is an exact match to the existing cabinets. He built-in the wine fridge, slide out shelves and sit up extension for the breakfast bar. He also built the headknocker in the bathroom to match the vanity style and again you cannot tell they were not a matched set. I could write a whole review on their cabinet maker...truly top quality workmanship. "The Granite Man"...also great quality. Looking at the counter tops I could not tell where he put the seams, he actually had to show me. The day they did my granite it was raining and he was outside in the rain cutting and finishing the counter tops and I could not believe how beautiful they were. Same with the bathroom vanity top which was also granite. I wanted to save the expense of a new backsplash so he carefully trimmed the existing tile on the wall so that the granite would slide in underneath and it is beautiful. Again, you cannot tell that they were installed 10 years apart. The shower is amazing - it is black slate with a emerald green accent strip that runs through the shower and across the tub enclosure and window. The design was Casey and Robert's (the team lead) idea and it is stunning. Casey provided feedback and design ideas throughout the bathroom remodel as I was not entirely sure what I wanted at the time we started the job. I was clear about the kitchen, but not so much about the bathroom and the outcome is truly jaw dropping. We did hit a snag with the flooring when the tile I put on hold by the supplier got sold and we did not know until Casey went to pick it up. Over the phone (I was working and could not leave) he described other similar tiles and ultimately we went for a natural stone tile that was similar to what I had picked out...only better..but every tile had to be custom cut to the right size. Since the tile was a natural stone there are variations in color and it is not a smooth tile. The team laying the floor took care to put the darker tiles in the closet and made sure the variations in the surface were placed so that they flowed well it the room. In line with their attention to detail the outside trim work on the bathroom window that was moved exactly matches the outside trim of the house so you cannot tell that is was not original to the house. I could not be happier with the work they performed. We did hit a few bumps in the road which every large project will have, but Casey and Cameron worked with me and in the end their only focus was on the quality of the work, was I happy and did we stay in my budget. I will be doing another remodel next year on my master bedroom and these will be the guys that I call.

We can’t even begin to express our gratitude to Angie’s List for leading us to Capmire Projects. The moment we met with Cameron and Casey, we knew the positive reviews were accurate. They made us feel comfortable, understood, and important. The entire process, from demolition to final walk through, took exactly 5 weeks (far less time than we could have ever anticipated). They walked us through the process and helped us every step of the way. The level of communication provided by Capmire to their clients is superb. Safety and security of our home was an issue we were concerned about. Capmire acknowledged our concern and addressed it with each individual working in our home. They diligently kept our gate closed so our dog could not get out, locked doors and windows back when leaving the home, and respected our privacy and the fact that we were living in the house. Our guest bathroom was used as our temporary kitchen and the contractors were respectful of that by keeping the door closed. Casey was at our house each day to monitor progress and address any issues that came up. This made us feel very comfortable. Our custom cabinets were designed and built on-site by carpenter Robert and his crew. Storage and efficiency was an issue with our outdated kitchen and one of the main reasons we decided to remodel. We considered ordering pre-fabricated cabinets. But after seeing the quality of previous work and their willingness to design the cabinets exactly for our needs, we knew it would be worth it. And it was. The cabinets are one of the best features of our new kitchen and have provided us with a beautiful and efficient work and storage space. One of the reasons we ultimately decided to choose Cameron and Casey as our contractors was because we could tell they had incredible work ethic and solid morals. For example, when an old appliance was accidentally damaged during the remodel, they apologized profusely and gave us a credit toward our total bill. Accidents happen and cannot be avoided all the time. Cameron and Casey displayed their professionalism and made it right. Unfortunately, that is not a quality you find in many people today. We were happy to give them our business. Overall, we could not be more pleased with the remodel process and the result: a beautiful kitchen we love and enjoy. We will definitely use Capmire Projects in the future when we decide to remodel the guest bathroom in our home and look forward to working with them again!

WENT VERY WELL. FLOORS WERE PREPARED TO APPLY FLOATING AND MOISTURE BARRIER AND INSTALLATION COMPLETED WITHIN JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS. TILERS DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON FIREPLACE AND WOOD CREW DID EXCELLENT JOB AT PLACING THE WIDE PLANKS THAT HAD A LOT OF 'CHARACTER' IN THEM SO THE PATTERN FLOWS NATURALLY. CREW CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. CO-OWNER CASEY CAPPS PROJECT-MANAGED THE CREW AND QUICKLY FOLLOWED UP ON THINGS IF NECESSARY.

Wow. These guys have restored my faith in contractors. From start to finish, I have nothing but praise for the job they did. Everything went so smoothly, it was amazing. They had great suggestions and ideas on which vendors to use for tile and fixtures and saved me a lot of money. The initial contract spelled out every detail of the process and it was followed explicitly. Their workers were punctual, polite, extremely competent artisans. Casey is a stickler for details and a total perfectionist. He inspected all the work that was being done and insured it met the highest standards. Cameron, likewise, made sure all the billing and inspections were handled promptly and correctly, even issueing a refund for services. I have never had any workmen who were as meticulous about cleanliness. The area from my front door up three flights of stairs was covered in paper and plastic. The work area was swept clean at night and all the trash was removed. And, last but not least, I was issued a release of lien by all the subcontractors for the work they had done. These guys are great!!!

The amount of input they gave during the estimate was really good and that is one of the reason we choose them to do the work for us. We would use them in the future in necessary.

Hired Capmire Projects for remodeling my kitchen and master bath. I consulted several contractors and received two complete estimates. Capmire was punctual and very detailed with their proposal. They really worked with me: making suggestions and different options and trying to make it as economical as possible which I really appreciated. They were always on time (or they would contact me) and budgeted their time so there was work being done at all times. Casey was on site every day and if he couldn't come Cameron covered supervising. They kept contact with me during day and progress went very smooth. They were always curtious and really were always concerned about our living in the house during construction which was not difficult because they cleanedup daily. They did a beauyiful job! I love my new kitchen and I try to spend as much time as possible in it. The transformation was amazing! They also constructed a new shower to update my masterbath and resurfaced the cabinets and laid a continuous tile floor to match. The shower looks wonderful--- very spa like. What a difference! Thank you--thank you--thank you. I plan to use them again and can't wait.

I decided on a partial re-do of my hall bathroom, which meant I didn't want it gutted. I kept the walls and fixtures in the same places and did not replace the tub, tile floors or the tile around the shower. Those were a nice neutral color. The vanity, however, was old and too low, and out everything was out of date and builder-grade (flowered wall paper and gold fixtures). I went ahead and purchased most of the new items I wanted installed. After consulting with Cameron Capps, one of the owners of the company, getting a bid (the bid I received from another company was not much different) and signing a contract, they started by doing the demolition of the vanity and linen closet, then rebuilding both to my specifications as we had discussed. They also removed the old, gold-trimmed shower doors. The cabinet makers arrived promptly at 8am on Monday, morning, Feb 20, as scheduled, and quickly got to work, putting down a protective covering on the carpet on the stairs and in the hall before beginning the demo. They showed me a sample of the vanity doors for me to approve before they continued. When they stained the cabinets I didn't think they were dark enough (I had asked for espresso, and they turned out more chocolate-colored) so they continued to stain them until they were the right shade. While they were doing this, the granite guy came and measured for the countertop. I had picked out the granite earlier. They installed the countertop along with the sink and faucet I had bought, and the granite backsplash. They then picked up the toilet from Home Depot and installed it and the shower doors that I had purchased online. They then painted the walls with the colors I had picked out (still not sure about the rust color, but that was my choice, not theirs) and installed the light fixtures. Casey Capps, the project manager and co-owner, was available by cell phone at all times, and came by regularly to check on things and make sure I was happy with how things were going and answer any questions I had. The workers were punctual, professional and polite at all times and cleaned up every day before they left. I had changed my mind about a couple of things during the project, and Casey adjusted the contract price accordingly (up to replace a light fixture that I hadn't originally planned to replace, and down because I decided I didn't want to put a couple of mirrors where I had originally planned). The whole project took just under 3 weeks to complete, and I am VERY happy with the results.

Casey and his team did a great job in all stages of the project. The work was done properly and looks great. I really appreciated his responsiveness to areas that needed a bit more finishing on the floors. Agreeable and easy to work with. Thanks!

When I get ready to do the work, I will get a firm bid from them. They may be pricier but they were very professional. I was very impressed with them. I was really pleased with their attitude and professionalism.

Casey and Cameron were professional and responsive to all the issues we needed addressed. From beginning to end they communicated about everything that was scheduled for each day. The employees and subs were polite and considerate. as well as efficient. We are very pleased with the results.

The owners of the company were very patient and receptive. The service was very satisfying. They paid attention to detail.

We found them on Angie's list. They were really good, they are kind of new at this and I had to monitor them a little bit. There were a few communication problems between the contractor and the men doing the work. Overall I would recommend them highly.

I think they did a fantastic job. They were extremely professional. They were ahead of their schedule that they created. Everything went very smoothly.

Very pleased with the work. They beat their schedule. They were always professional and responsive. I felt comfortable with the workers that they have being in my home.

I generally liked them. They use sub-contractors to get different jobs done. They are generally good but some of them seem to be in a rush. We have some minor issues with them but the good side is that they can correct the issue every time I directly call them. Their response is very friendly and timely. They are sometimes too busy and forget to do what we requested. It is possible that I may use them in the future.

I had a great experience with Capmire Projects. They were prompt and thorough with their estimate (as well as fair!). As the holidays are a busy season, Cameron was often in touch regarding their start date, which made me feel comfortable that my job was important to them. The workers were professional and the job was completed on time to my satisfaction. I would definitely use them again and encourage you to do the same!

Whenever I met with them, they were honest and I liked as to how they did the follow up to make sure that we were all on the same page. Overall, they were very good. It helped us that they worried about the details. They were our contractors and they found another fence company that did it. They were able to take care of the little details and we thought that they were reasonably priced. They were professional. We really liked them as we thought that they did a good job. We did not have any problems with their price. They were very good with their responsiveness.

It took me 3-5 months to get quotes from different vendors - picked 4 from Angies List and Capmire Projects was one of them. Both Casey and Cameron turned up on the first visit and we talked about what I was looking for in the kitchen. They worked on the quote and provided it relatively quickly (less than a week - which is understandable given the scale of the job). Their quote was not the highest nor was it the lowest - somewhere in the upper middle of the four quotes. The next phase was to scope out their ability to make 'modern' kitchen. In Texas, it is hard to get to see 'modern' kitchens. Most of them are old fashion, ornate and elaborate kitchens which is not what I was looking for. I was looking for simple clean lines wihtout the 'fuss'. Cameron and Casey were very gracious as they tapped into their database of client to see if I could visit some of the more 'modern' construct that they have done. Though these kitchens were not exactly how I would like my kitchen to be, it gives me an appreciation of their handiwork. Once I was happy/ confident that they could pull this off, we went into the detail planning phase. This was about 5 months after the first quote, so Cameron requoted with some of the changes that I requested - different wood and different granite. They provided a work schedule - which showed a 6 week progress. The workers came bright and early on the day that they were suppose to start and basically started sealing the kitchen with a barrier to prevent excess dust in the living room. They also started to gut out the kitchen on the same day - tearing out the cabinets. THey were careful with the appliances as I was going to resell some of the units. The work progressed very quickly on the first week with most of the tearing out and reframing the new walls (after removing the wall adjoining the laundry and kitchen). The great thing is that they tidied up after themselves everyday - which makes living through the mess more bearable. Casey was very good about the logistics of getting diffeernt tradesman over to do different part of the jobs. There was minimal disruption to the flow of the work progress and he always let us know if there is changes to the schedule. Over the course of the 6 weeks- we had 2 change orders to incorporate some additions that I requested and one was due to a line item that was missed. The greatest part was when the final unveiling (I was away for 5 days nearing the end of the project). We got home and eveyrhting was done - just the tiny snag lists. The design was just as I had envisioned it to be - modern sleek simple lines. One of the great thing about Casey is that he is always very responsive - to all the calls that i made to him when I discovered things were not as discussed. We did have one hiccup but Casey fixed it with no argument at all - got everything sorted out without me having to put up any argument - which you would expect for a contractor - but no not them. Key thing working with Capmire projects is that you will get a very responsive (customer focused), professional, schedule orietned and clean contractor.

Cameron and Casey are professional, flexible, provide detailed proposals, and are easy to communicate with. The bathrooms are now better-looking and more functional. We would hire them again.

Was the ONLY provider on Angies list that responded to my inquiry concerning a small home remodeling project... Even though it was too small for them they were the only ones who took the time to respond!

I have been waiting to write this report when I actually had time to do Capmire justice but apparently I will never have enough time so I will just try to capture as much as I can now! From my first t the last interaction with the Capps brothers they were professional and courteous. This behavior continued throughout our entire aquaintance. They initially provided me an estimate on the couple of rooms I planned to tackle (Kitchen and Master Bath) which was MUCH higher than I anticipated. This was completely due to my ignorance of the cost of remodeling! Cameron walked me through the entire bid showing me where we could cut back and was so thorough and knowledgeable that I knew I had found my contractors. The guys knew I was working on a tight budget and timeline and made every effort to finish on time for me and to stay within budget. I didn't make it easy on them... Due to my own "additions" to the remodel I spent more than I planned and we finished about a week behind but that was mainly because I decided to update my two guest bathrooms as well and I have expensive tastes. The subs for the most part we fantastic. Robert and Leo (carpenter and painter) were professional, timely and really took time to listen and understand what I wanted done and to get it right even if that meant redoing something. The only issue I had was with a plummer and Casey handled that immediately! Casey provided me daily updates on progress and was fantastic throughtout the entire remodel. He took the time to understand my taste/style so that when he needed to consult me on a design choice he basically already knew the answer and came to me with a recommendation vs. making me try to figure it out on my own then tell him what I wanted. Both of the Capps brothers really care that their customers come out satisfied and happy with the product. I can't say enough nice things about these guys and I would recommend then for any project big or small.

They were great. I wouldn't change anything about their work.
