Description of Work: Jim and his crew were the silver lining to an otherwise horrible situation. We had a flood that resulted in considerable damage to our newly renovated home and they were amazing in every way. I wish they could have handled every component of the recovery...not just the water clean up. They were highly skilled, professional and so courteous. I can't sing their praises enough.

Jim Bauer initially came to my house as the third contractor I had spoken with. He was the only one that didn't try to "sell me " on what I needed, but rather told me the truth of what might be going on behind the wall in question. He then sat down in my office and put all his paperwork/tools aside and we spoke for a half hour about his career and owning his own business...he told me his story of being a homebuilder ...first a contraction manager and then a project manager and eventually a 15 year career as an executive. This background was unheard of to me as of yet, and I was immediatley aware of all the knowledge he had to offer to me and knew he was definitely the right man for the job. I hired him on the spot and he was ready to get to work almost the next day, if I so chose. His crew was friendly and kept to their work, not bothering me one bit during the process. He wasn't over chatty or unfocused. He was there to the job and do it right. He is so thorough and smart, that other contractors I hired to come in and put things back together after the remediation would be complete were asking him his opinions on how to do THEIR jobs. It was remarkable...without knowing it, he had become the Project Manager for my house's problems and was directing the whole gang. If it weren't for Jim, the process of fixing my water problems would have been a nightmare, and I wold have had to do it all myself, and figure it all out on my own...but with him I knew I would have things done the right way all around with decisions that I could trust.
Description of Work: Water Damage occurred severely in my home...a downstairs closet was beginning to show signs of mold creeping in along the baseboard. I called a few different contractors to come and take a look. Jim Bauer was my immediate choice because he was the only one that actually explained what could be happening even before he was able to "open the wall" to see the culprit creating the damage. He was not trying to get my business, but rather trying to be as informative as possible so that I could make my own decision on how to proceed. He immediately got to work as soon as I hired him. He was incredibly punctual and always prepared for anything he might encounter in the process. My closet was opened and removal of all damaged areas took less than a day. He then cleaned, and restored what would be left of the remaining wall structure, and used products to prevent any further mold or wood rot.

Jim Bauer got a crew out to the house within 3 hours of my call on a late Saturday afternoon. The tech in-charge was Sean. He and his crew were there on time as planned and got right to work. This timely service continued the two follow-up days as well. They worked with my schedule. I was impressed with their professional appearance and how they treated my tenants furniture. I would certainly call them again if the need arises.

On Oct 19th, we called PuroClean after discovering a leaking water heater. They arrived in about 2 hours, and started cleaning the mess right way. The whole project lasted about a week. Throughout the process, two engineers, Sean and Wesley, came to our house to check on things almost every day. They updated us about the progress and answered our questions. They were very punctual and responsive. Communication was great. They also took care of our house (e.g., putting on shoe covers) even though restoration was due anyway. They also took pictures, which were helpful in our negotiation with the insurance adjuster. They also made sure that they were on site when the insurance adjuster came. The owner Jim Bauer was also very helpful. All in all, we are very satisfied with their service.
Description of Work: Our waterheater (in the attic) leaked, which caused water damage in most of the house. Puro Clean did a great job drying out our house.

Description of Work: I had some chicken breast left on my stove and burned dispensing a horrible protein smoke smell throughout my house. I checked Angie's list for referrals and PuroClean had high ratings. When I first called the two ladies I spoke with on the phone were very nice and helpful. They said the owner/manager of this particular store would call me back asap. "Jim" called that evening and said he would have one of his guys call me the next morning, probably between 8:30 and 9 a.m. to set up an appt. At around 10 - 10:30 a.m. Sean called. He said he was working I believe east of town. I told him I would like to set up an appt as late in the day as he could since I work about 20 miles from where I live. Sean said he would call me after about 1:30 and let me know what time he could meet me at my house. I never heard another word from him. I finally called his cell phone about 4:30 - 4:45 to see what the deal was. Never received a call back apologizing for getting busy, he forgot, whatever the reason. Just would have been nice to receive a call even if he couldn't meet me that day. This happened on a Friday and I actually waited until Monday hoping again, that I would receive a call - but no call. Sean seemed like a very nice and helpful person on the phone but him not returning a potential customer's call was very unprofessional and rude in my opinion. The same Monday I did however, receive a call from Dennis, the manager of another location (I believe Jim, from the other store, asked him to call me because they were so busy) and he came to the house the same day and was very nice, informative and professional. Thank you Dennis. I very much appreciate your time. Since I've not actually had any work done just an estimate, I don't want to rate the work per se. This review is more about a customer service issue.

We discovered mold in our master closet approximately one month after repair of a toilet leak. I called and talked to Jim Bauer of Puroclean explaining the situation and he scheduled to have Sean and Wes come out to inspect the damage the next day. They used equipment to help pinpoint that the source of the mold was from the water damage from the toilet and helped to arrange a call with Jim to discuss my options. Since I had 100% coverage for mold damage through my homeowners insurance, we waited until after a visit from my adjuster to begin work. Puroclean was able to begin work the very next day after I called to confirm that the adjuster had approved the work. Upon beginning work, Wes or Sean spoke to me twice daily to confirm what time they would be beginning work for the day and to give a status of the progress at the end of their day. Their communication was very thorough and helpful as I had never had to deal with such a project in my home.
Description of Work: Puroclean performed removal of water damage and remediation of mold growth in my master bathroom and adjacent closet. Puroclean's service including taking measurements of the water content of the drywall, tile, carpet, and wood surfaces and removal of all damaged materials. They also arranged for a plumber to do the removal of the toilet and cap off of the sink and shower. During the process they also discovered significant mold behind and under the shower which required stripping the entire bathroom down to the studs and concrete floor. Prior to beginning work, Sean and Wes set up a containment area using heavy duty plastic. They also covered the flooring from the bathroom out to the front door to protect it while moving materials and equipment in and out of the house. The technicians installed drying and filtering equipment that had to be ran for approximately 10 days to completely dry out all of the studs. They visited daily for repositioning of the dryers scheduling their visit times in advance around my schedule. I felt comfortable enough with Sean and Wes to provide them unsupervised access when a convenient time for me was not available.

I was disappointed with responsiveness and answers. The issue I have is that the testimonies and advertising on Angie's List refer to Inspection, Testing and Remediation of which inspection & testing is what I needed. I sent an e-mail on line on Friday, called a few hours later (still during working hours) and left a message with what I perceived to be a message service. I received a phone call about 24 hours after my initial email contact and about 18 hours after my phone message. It is not that this is terrible response it is just much slower than anticipated by reading the testimonies. I was informed politely that Texas has strict guidelines for Mold inspections, testing, and remediation so I would have to contact a company that does the inspection & testing. So I called who he recommended and (of course) had to leave a message. Well if you are in the market to buy a house today you know that if it is a good one it will not last long, waiting a day can be the difference in getting or loosing the house you want. All in all it is not that Puroclean did anything wrong, I just want others to know that INSPECTION & TESTING is not one of their offerings and speedy replies are considered to be within 24 hours (by their measure). If I need a remediation of Mold I will call them for a quote based on the testimonies on Angie's List.. Just a thought on a customer service level... If a company remediates, do you think they would have to inspect the house to provide an accurate estimate?

+ 0 moreAbout 10 months ago we had the opportunity to work with Jim Bauer with PuroClean. It is rare that I will write a review but based on my experiences I felt that this needed to be shared. Jim and his crew perform very through, effective, and efficient work. Additionally Jim and his employees are highly skilled at what they do and are willing to take the time to explain what they are doing, their plan, and expected results. I waited to right this because with water damage if the affected area is not properly treated it may take months to find. But, after 10 months there is no signs in any affected areas that reflect unresolved problems. Jim and his team went above and beyond and showed genuine concern for resolving the issue and could related to what we were going though. However, at the end of the service performed you want your house to be trouble free. Based on my experience Jim delivered on every level of customer satisfaction. Simply put, if you are in a position where you need a restoration specialist to come do not read any other reviews, just pick up the phone and call.

I came home from vacation to find my house and garage flooded. I had a car full of kids and out of town guests to add to the chaos. I called PuroClean and Jake arrived within an hour to save my house and my sanity! Jake spent 5 days working on my house to ensure it was dry and mold free. He was aware that my son is a severe allergic/asthmatic and took extra precautions to ensure our home was safe for him to come home to. Jake was very respectful of my home and talked me through the whole process. He helped me find a plumber to fix the situation and made sure the prices were fair. Jake came and met with the insurance adjustor to ensure they saw all the damage. He helped "restore" my home so we could live in it until the damage could be fixed. He even followed up with me after leaving to make sure all was ok. I hope I never have to go through this again, but if I do, PuroClean and Jake will be the first people I call.
Description of Work: I had a pipe burst in my foundation and flood my home and garage. Jake came and pulled up flooring, cut into sheet rock, and removed all the damaged materials. He brought in drying fans, dehumidifiers and made sure my house was dry and mold free when he left.

After returning from a trip, our tenants found a large patch of nasty mold in the master bedroom closet. It wasn't clear whether the water damage was coming in from the roof. Jim and his company were very helpful in explaining what needed to be done and working with other contractors to help fix the problem. They came out promptly to the house to do an inspect and gave a written estimate that clearly set out what services they would provide and at what cost. Jim also recommended Louis with a very honest roofing company to do a free roof inspection--they determined that the leak was not coming from the roof and suggested we contact an HVAC comopany. Another Angie's List roofing had told us they didn't know for sure where the leak was coming from but wanted to charge us $400 to fix it. After consulting with Jim, we agreed it would be best to start the mold work in order to figure out where the water was coming from. After Jim's men broke into the drywall they found the problem--a burst HVAC pipe (just as Louis had suspected). In the end, Jim and his company worked well with our HVAC contractor and the problem was quickly fixed.

+ -1 moreI and my husband invited Jim Bauer to inspect the house we are planning to buy for mold and water damage.He was right on time, very professional, and very informative. He tested the whole house and found some serious concerns (mold behind the shower tiles). His service made us change our minds and not buy the house. He saved us from huge expenses and headaches. He educated us by explaining the process very clearly and showing us the readings in the measurement devices, which made it more real for us. He was very patient and nice in answering all our questions. I can't say enough good things about his expertise and his manner. I will recommend him to all my friends who have or suspect mold/water damage in their homes and I will hire him for inspecting another house we are planning to buy.

I live in an older home with a crawl space. The kitchen drain pipe had a huge crack/opening and I had been dumping water under my house instead of into the sewer drain. I didn't notice until it created a bad smell into the house. I fixed the pipe but I had all this water under my house. The house smelled and I was getting all sorts of bugs. I called a couple of different water damage restoration places. The first place told me it would cost me $1500 for them to put fans under the house to dry everything out. I called PuroClean as well. Jim sent someone out to look at the house and personally called me back. He told me that although there was a lot of water under the house, it was already starting to dry out. His technician checked the humidity of my beams supporting my house and everything checked out okay. He told me he hated taking money from me for something that would happen anyway. He said it would take awhile, but the crawl space would dry out on its own. Since the beams under my house checked out, there really wasn't a hurry. He said that the smell and the bugs would go away once everything dried out, but suggested that I call a pest control company to get rid of the bugs right away. I was amazed! Another company was going to take $1500 from me. Jim checked out my house, checked my supports, and gave me great advice...all for free! He spent at least 15-20 minutes on the phone with me explaining everything. This is the kind of company that you can trust!

My refrigerator ice maker water line was leaking for under 7 hours but caused a huge problem. The water went all over the kitchen, under the cabinets and under the wood flooring in the dining & living rooms. I contacted PuroClean, because of the Angie'sList entry. They were very responsive and were out within about 4 hours. Sean was very professional and did a great job of explaiing everything to me. He was very careful in removing the baseboards & kick plates to keep the damage to the minimum and was able to save some of the baseboards. He extracted the water I could not get to and even tried to extract from between the seams of the wood flooring. Sean came out each day to check on the drying, added and adjusted the fans. He added an air purifier to help with my allergies due to all the blowing and dust and he added floor pad fans to try to get to the water under the wood floor. There is just no way to get the water out from under glued down wood flooring. Everything else was dried out in about 4 1/2 days. The owner of the company also stopped by to check on the work and Sean was onsite when my insurance adjuster came to inspect. The PuroClean team have worked with my insurance adjuster before so they already had a working relationship and I think that really helped with the claim. I don't know what the cost was since my insurance covered it but whatever it is, it was worth it. I also liked that Sean came back each day. He had another worker, Wes, with him a couple of days but I really liked the continuity of having Sean there through the duration. Sean called each day before he arrived to ensure I knew he was coming and he worked around my schedule for his visits. Wonderful customer service from Sean and PuroClean overall.
Description of Work: PuroClean came out and assessed the damage from the water leak. Sean first used a sensor to see where the water damage was. He then removed the baseboards, cabinet kickplates and drilled holes in the drywall to get to the inner walls and under the cabinets. He then started extracting the water that had gone under the cabinets and he tried to extract what he could from under the wood flooring thru the seams. He then positioned fans and dehumidifiers all around the damaged area. Sean came out each day to check the progress. He added more fans, repositioned others, added another dehumidifer and an air purifier. He also put down some floor mat fans that we hoped would help dry out the water under the wood flooring. After about 4 1/2 days he checked that everything was dried out and removed all the equipment. He then sprayed an anti-microbial solution along all the baseboards and under the cabinets.

On a recent Saturday about noon our water heater blew out, resulting in about an inch of water in four rooms in our house (office, bathroom, kitchen and breakfast room). After shutting off the water, we immediately got on Angie's list to find someone to help. We were lucky to find PuroClean. They responded immediately; Dennis arrived at our house in a little over an hour and immediately got to work. Dennis and his helper removed the water, and moved the affected furnishings (including several hundred books from the office). They stayed with the job until late that evening; by the time they left they had removed the damaged wallboard and insulation, and set up a dehumidifier, HEPA filter, and 18 turbo fans to start drying out the wet walls and flooring. They returned again on Sunday and for two or three days after, until gradually the moisture was removed. We cannot say enough positive things about Dennis. He was efficient, competent, professional and treated our home and furniture like it was his own. He gave us valuable and reliable advice about how to handle several aspects of the situation. He has the personality and ability to work well with people in stressful situations. We recommend Dennis and PuroClean to anyone who may suffer the misfortune of water or smoke damage. (Cost of the service was covered by insurance.)

PuroClean was very quick to respond to my initial call and kept me informed throughout the entire process. Everybody was very friendly and professional. They even recommended great contractors to fix the plumbing and replace the drywall, which are things that they don't do.
Description of Work: I had a water leak in my bathroom that had caused visible mold. PuroClean removed a part of the damaged wall and baseboard, found where the leak was coming from and referred somebody to fix the toilet. They proceeded to clean up the damaged wood inside the wall, dried it out over the next week, came back and sealed it and cleaned up. They kept the bathroom sealed and hauled away everything they removed that had mold.

I called Puro Clean because I had a horrible mold smell in a bathroom. I could find not mold present and wanted an expert opinion as to the source of the smell. Jim came out to my house the next day, was on time and a true professional. He brought equipment to determine moisture etc. After examining the bathroom he determined that we did not have a large problem but that the moisture was getting into small cracks that needed to be caulked. He is very honest and told me how we could correct the problem with caulking which we did. I am a senior citizen and I am so glad to find a trustworthy company that did not try to sell me something that I did not need. I would recommend him to anyone. Overall, I was very satisfied with every detail of the work by Bob Culley and PuroClean. I am an engineer and tend to ask many questions. Bob was very thorough and patient in his answers and made sure that I was comfortable in my knowledge as he proceeded. Bob's crew was equally polite and helpful during the process.
Description of Work: After a freeze-guard faucet cracked and sprayed water inside a wall of my house and under all the kitchen cabinets, there was considerable black mold growth in those areas. The water mitigation company decided that the situation was beyond their scope of service and recommended Bob Culley of PuroClean. Bob responded to my call promptly and discussed the probable scope of the job on the phone then came to my home the next day. He showed me his credentials and licenses to perform the work. I verified his rating with Angie's List. After inspecting the situation he told me that he would describe the process but could not estimate the job scope, schedule or cost until he tore out enough sheetrock and other material to determine the extent of the water penetration and mold growth. The tear out took two days and revealed that the water had run along the edge of the slab and pooled in a far corner. This required considerable demolition from the original water entry point into two other rooms. Bob showed me all of the damage and explained the probable scope of the job. He documented and photographed everything in a way that my insurance company (The Hartford) had no problem authorizing immediate payment. The total job took about 10 days including creating the containment space and cleanup. After Bob was finished, the reconstruction contractor had no significant problems rebuilding my kitchen, utility room and breakfast room.

After experiencing a water leak that lead to mold, a contractor suggested PuroClean for the clean up. The next day, the owner Jim Bauer contacted me and said he would be in the area working another job and could he come by and take a look. Remember, I hadn't even contacted him yet. To some this would be a turn off, to me this was exceptional customer service. Jim came by with his lead guy J.D. to check things out. He pointed stuff out and made sure I understood what would need to be done and answered all of my many, many questions and concerns. He asked if he could spray a solution on the mold areas to minimize the mildew smell and he also asked if he could put a tack strip cover down to protect our feet from the nails that the insurance companies representatives had left exposed. I agreed. Both were appreciated for I have a 2 year old running around the house. When it came time to clean I notified the insurance company that I wanted to use PuroClean. Jim and his team were pros from day 1. They filed permits with the state and let me know the start date. They came out a day early to put up a containment area (state mandated for the amount of mold we had) and put down carper runners to protect our floor. During the removal process his team was always on time and when at the house they were courteous and professional. (My wife also mentioned this to me) They cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day. Jim called daily with updates for we had to move out of the home during the mold removal. If there was anything questionable Jim always erred on the side of caution/the customer. You can never be too careful when it comes to mold. I have no doubt that this would not have gone as smoothly if it hadn't been for Jim and his team. I would HIGHLY recommend PuroClean to anyone.

Jim and his associates promptly arrived and thoroughly explained what they were searching for with their equipment. He also explained in great detail about how various woods react to water and made sure we understood the process of drying out the floor and walls, especially the water you could not see. His past building experience gave us added reassurance that he knew what he was talking about. We especially appreciated the fact that he took the approach of monitoring drying time halfway through the process by personally coming back and rechecking for moisture instead of drilling holes or ripping out our unique flooring and baseboard on the first visit. Thank you Jim!!! The quick response and knowing exactly what to do, saved us from a large insurance claim. Jim and his employees? professional honesty, friendliness and courtesy makes the company stand out among others.
Description of Work: After a toilet valve ruptured and water filled our bath and surrounding areas with water, we contacted Jim Bauer with PuroClean Restorations. They used equipment to detect water within our walls and under our flooring. After thoughly explaining the situation, Jim installed numerous blowers and dehumidifiers. Puroclean appear to be very professional. They are very knowledgeable. These folks are courteous.Puroclean gave us no written estimate. In fairness we gave them a 72 hour turnaround (as we did with all vendors). We received one inquiry from them in terms of a question which we attempted to respond to. They phoned the mold testing service but chose not to submit an estimate within the time we allocated. I would use these folks if you have the time and money. They appear to be extremely professional (as do at least two of their competitors).

Jim Bauer was courteous, punctual, professional, and I especially liked the consideration given to my husband's health conditions. He and his team contained the area that needed drying so the particulate matter wouldn't affect my husband's immune system. I also liked the clarity with which everything was explained, and I even got to see how all the water detection sensors worked and what the levels meant. I was also impressed by the neatness of the job site during and after, and the respect for my rambunctious cats. This has been the most positive experience I have ever had in dealing with a contractor, and I would highly recommend this company to everyone.
Description of Work: I had water damage inside my home due to a sprinkler malfunction spraying water through a small crack in my outside brick windowsill. The carpet and wall underneath the window had to be dried. Then the carpet was pulled back to dry the pad, and also the drywall and inside windowsill was removed to dry the inside of the wall and look for possible entry points and also see if there was any damage. They used fans, an air scrubber, and a dehumidifier. To contain the particulate matter, they hung up plastic around the damaged area from floor to ceiling. Testing for dryness readings was conducted over the course of the week to make sure everything was progressing properly so the next team of contractors can come in to replace the drywall and reconstruct everything. After the job was completed, he and his colleague (who's name I have unfortunately forgotten because I am terrible at remembering names) showed me the possible points of entry and the course of action that should be taken for corrective measures. Recommendations for contractors to deal with these issues were given. I put cost as N/A because this will be covered by our insurance and that is being handled by the insurance company. I will update this report when everything has been processed.

We emailed for a mold assessment based on ratings on Angie's List. Jim Bauer (the owner) called us back and offered to meet us whenever we wanted, including on the weekend. As it happened, he came out on a Sunday afternoon. He called ahead of time to let us know he was on his way, and he arrived right on schedule. He quickly assessed our situation, performed a chemical test to verify that we did not, in fact have a mold problem. He recommended other alternatives for an easy fix to our issues, and was very thorough in explaining exactly what was happening and why. He did not hard sell us on any unnecessary services, even though he could have easily tried to recommend services that we probably didn't need but would not have known the difference. Overall we were very impressed in every respect.
Description of Work: Jim Bauer was extremely helpful. He was very flexible about timing, and came out on a Sunday to do a mold assessment for us. He was thorough, professional and answered every question we had. We very much appreciate the quick and excellent service he provided and would recommend him to anyone looking for mold testing and remediation, or indeed any water, fire, mold or biohazard restoration services he (and PuroClean) provides.
