They were good.?I never did actually see them,?I just talked to them over the phone and they came when?I was at work. I'm from chicago and wasn't aware of how to maintain my foundation properly in Texas. They advised me to use soaker hoses to kee[ our foundation moist so that it won't shift or?become damaged. Since my home is newer he said?I shouldn't have issues. They left me with a little booklet to refer to in case?I forgot.

Overall, I was very impressed with their knowledge and expertise. They put my mind at ease that I do not have any foundation issues and give me some good tips on how to improve my drainage and what signs to look for if I was having foundation issues. I am happy I do not have any foundation issues but would hire them if I did.
Description of Work: They came out and found some minor issues with drainage but no problems with my foundation. They recommomended some other ways to fix them that were easy and would cost me less.

My house is in the process of being refinanced and the bank has required an engineer's report on the foundation with repairs to the foundation if the report determines they are necessary. I decided to get bids from several companies in an attempt to assess the damage instead jumping straight to the engineer's report (which cost from around $250-$500). A representative from G L Hunt came out to take a look at the my house for an estimate of a foundation repair job. The rep. inspected the inside and outside of my house and told me that he thought the foundation work needed was borderline and that he recommended that I re-surface and re-paint the cracks in my ceilings/walls and adjust the doors that were sticking in my house so that it could pass a structural engineer's inspection. He went on to say that as the house currently is, I had 50-50 chance of passing an engineer's inspection. Ignoring the fact that the advice, if acted upon, could be considered fraudulent by the lender, what really compelled me to write this review was the representative's assessment of the foundation's issues and the corrective actions needed to be taken to remedy them. The representative appeared to merely "eyeball" everything in the house and outside and stated that I would need 4 pilings installed in the center of my back two bedrooms because the foundation was sinking in the middle of those two rooms. This would require having to tear up the wood floor to complete the work which would add to the time and cost of the repairs. Subsequently, I have had a structural engineer's report done on my house which used electronic equipment to measure the foundation levels throughout the house. Their measurements and report indicated that my house was sloping from back to front and that 10 pilings on the outside of the house would be required to fix the foundation. Furthermore their measurements showed that there was no circular depression in the center of the 2 bedrooms, but a continuous slope from back to front. Their estimate was free, but their advice turned out to be incorrect at best.
Description of Work: A representative from the company provided a free estimate of the foundation problems an options for remedies.

The sales man worked with me for two years before I had the work completed. He made two trips to my home to give me estimates and helped me find a plumber to fix the sewer leak discovered under my foundation which was the major cause of damage. The crew arrived on time everyday and were very professional. The foreman explained each day what they were going to do and completed one early. Side note: Two other neighbors had foundation repaired performed and I would say that G L Hunt did a much better job than the other two companies. One home the dirt replaced in the holes dug was insufficient so there are dips around their home. The second home the garage side of the home was not completely leveled, there are still separation between the bricks and the garage door still has issues when the doors open. Their company also did not fix the mortar between the brick or seal around the windows. When I spoke to them I was told that G L Hunt had given them a bid that was $100 higher so they went with the cheaper company.
Description of Work: Total of 49 piers installed, 12 inside the home and 37 around the outside of the home. The bid was for 11 piers inside but the installer decided add one more go stabilize the fireplace. When G L Hunt finished the job they repaired the mortar between the bricks, sealed around the windows, filled the expansion joints and secured the trim that had come loose when the foundation settled. G L Hunt put my home back together so I did not need to do additional work or hire someone to perform final repairs.

I got estimates from 3 companies, GL Hunt was right in the middle. That made me feel like their estimate was fair and accurate, they weren't over or underestimating, and their pricing structure was fair. I've never had anything like this done, and the salesman took the time to explain the process, using drawings, answered all my questions, and left documentation. Based on other things I had read online, I took the time to take pictures off the wall and secure glass objects in the areas that would be lifted. I have to say that turned out to be a waste of my time. Maybe it's that I just needed a slight lift but I never even felt the lift or experienced any "extreme vibrating and up and down movement" as indicated in another report. The crew arrived at 8:30 am and were done by 1:30 pm. They did 12 piers in all, including 3 through a concrete patio area. The foreman came in before the lift and took measurements and did visual and manual inspections. As he instructed the crew on the lift, he would continually check until he got the desired results. Immediately after the lift, the master bathroom door that had not "latched" because of being misaligned with the latch plate started latching properly, and the shower door that had been sticking since last summer was swinging freely without sticking. The window caulking, mortar repair, and injection of soil stabilizer was all performed as contracted. The crew cleaned up completely, groomed lawn areas where they had worked, swept up and hosed off sidewalks. The concrete repairs looked reasonable to me, and the holes in the soil along the foundation where the piers were sunk all appeared to be filled in adequately, I did not notice any holes or sinking areas. Having heard so many horror stories about foundation repairs in this area, I was expecting a nerve-wracking experience, but I have to say it was anticlimactic and not stressful at all. That seemed to indicate to me that the company cared about a profressional experience.
Description of Work: Gave estiimate, explained the work and the process, left documentation, sunk concrete piers around affected areas of foundation, did slight lift at back part of house, installed soil stabilizer, re-caulked at all windows in the area of the piers, re-mortarted in an area where a slight crack had appeared in mortar on north side of house.

The crew was 10 hrs, late and only showed then (7 PM) because I had called 3 times and threatened to cancel. I had been guarantied the job would take one day. Now it was going to take another day and I had to take another day off work w/o pay. When they did show up the place was SWARMED by an army of dimunitive"illegals". I was not pre-warned that the process would involve vigorous lifting and dropping of my foundation, causing pictures to fall of the walls. I had to frantically run around the house pulling down pictures and securing other breakable items. The soil used to refill the holes was not compacted correctly and collapsed leaving 12 inch deep holes. They admitted they didn't do that right and had to come back to re do it. They broke about 4 mature bushes around the foundation during their work. They would not admit fault and I had to spend about $200.00 out of pocket to replace them. They did not repair the cracks in my brick facade per the contract. It took nearly 3 more months and multiple calls for their "brick specialist" to show up and do a third rate job. Where they jack-hammered through my concrete patio to sink piers they did not make clean cuts and had to come back to saw-cut and patch them correctly. These patches still did not match the one year old patio, so I had to replace the entire patio at another out of pocket cost of $2,500.00. Seven years later my house foundation still shifts (the soil in this area of Fort Worth REALLY expands/contracts under moisture variations). A G. L. Hunt rep has told me I need to run a soaker hose around my foundation ALL YEAR to maintain soil moisture at constant level. I had been doing that for 30+ years - the "foundation repair" was supposed eliminate that, why else pay $10K. I DO NOT recommend G. L. HUNT.
Description of Work: My slab foundation was cracked due to the soil heaving with variations in moisture content (rainy - dry seasons). Stabalizing the foundation would NOT repair the foundation, but would stop it shifting and causing cracks in the dry-wall. G.L. Hunt dug 30+ holes around the foundation so they could force multi section concrete piers under the edge to stabalize the foundation.

I bought a house that needed extensive repairs to the foundation as well as other areas. After purchasing the house I found out that another company had done some foundation repair on it and I contacted them but they said they would not do anything about the damage. I was given the name of G.L. Hunt Company by a friend and I called them up. They responded promptly and gave me a competitive price. The work was performed in a timely and workmanlike manner and they cleaned up after themselves very nicely. This happens to be the house that I now live in but I am a contractor by trade and have occasion to either use or refer foundation companies quite frenquently. I have used G.L. Hunt on several other projects and have refered them to friends as well.
Description of Work: I had the entire house leveled.

Mr Hunt himself came to my house and showed me where my foundation problems were. He explained what had caused the problem and step by step what his company would do to fix my foundation. His crew arrived at exactly the time and day they were suppose to. The foreman over the crew came to me throughout the process to tell me what they were doing next and how they would be doing it. I had never had anyone come to my home and explain the procedures as they did the work. It made me feel like they really knew what they were doing. They took their time while they were lifting my foundation so they would not do further damage to my home. The cracks in my home all went back into place perfectly and no others appeared. They dug down far enough so that each pier was sat on rock so the house will not shift again. I would use this company for any foundation work I might need and have recommended them to my friends.
Description of Work: They put 16 piers under my foundation. These were installed down two sides of my house and around a patio with very thick concrete. When they lifted the house they went from one pier to the next so they could raise it very slowly. This was done to make sure that they did not cause more cracks inside the house. The forman of the crew continued to come in and explain to me each time they were going to do something and why it was being done. They had to dig down a long way to find rock that they could set the piers on. Two days after they finished they sent a company to my house to check for any water leaks that might have occured due to the moving of the foundation. This was included in the cost of the repairs.

They did an excellent job. The majority of the crew was Mexican which was a lot of inconvenience but the foreman was a bilingual. He really knew as to what he was doing and they all did a fantastic job. They put 43 piers under my house. They did a great job. We had about five and a half inches of rain two days after they finished and I had one corner settled. I called them and they came back out. They dug up four piers and readjusted them. Their work came with a transferable warranty. Their price was very competitive. I will definitely work with them again. There were three reasons that I picked them for of which one of them was because they were recommended on Angie's List and also because they did a better business deal. I had a couple of relatives that had some work done by them quite a few years back and they were also impressed with them.
Description of Work: I used the services of G. L. Hunt Company Incorporated in the first part of October 2011. I had to have the foundation leveled.

G. L. Hunt had fixed the foundations on our house before we bought it (for a previous owner.) When I called them in to check the foundation I assumed the warranty would cover the damage (it was in an area that they had fixed before.) They informed me that the warranty was void since it hadn't been renewed within 10 days of signing the house purchase papers. This was not even an option for me since the house had been sold twice since the work was done. I was told that NO OTHER FOUNDATION COMPANY HAS THIS ESCAPE CLAUSE ON THEIR WARRANTY. Other companies transfer their warranty with the house automatically. Essentially this means that GL Hunt offers no warranty because it is unenforceable and hence worthless. We went ahead and called them anyway because there was an extremely long wait for foundation companies (due to the dry summer.) They had to pull up our flagstone patio to get under the house and when they put it back they spread the gravel all over the patio and ruined the look. A week later when I was watering the foundation, the patio caved in under the area they had dug up. I called the company to have them come and fix it (thinking, reasonably, that it was their responsibility to fix it since the soil was not compacted well enough when they put it into the hole.) So we went ahead and fixed the patio ourselves. Post-script: After seeing the review, Mr. Hunt came over to our house to meet with me and apologize for the quality of service they had rendered. He insisted on doing another job to make up for the last one and to fix their reputation. Since the previous fix had started to sag and move away from the rest of the house again, they went ahead and fixed that and installed brackets this time to keep the extension (that was moving away) more rigidly fixed to the rest of the house. They fixed up the patio MUCH better this time and fixed another part of the house as well. Overall, they did a great job. The gentleman in charge fo this job (Mr. Ole Suarez) did a fantastic job of making sure the we were satisfied. If I used G L Hunt again, I would insist on him coming back to do the job.
Description of Work: The company fixed a part of the house that was beginning to tilt because of the excessively dry summer of 2011. They introduced 4 concrete piers and jacked that section of the house back into place.

Worked with us to allow payment on date of service. Also worked with us to schedule it at our convenience, including finishing on a Saturday. Crew came day before and with our approval, dug the holes for the pillars. Cable wire was cut and foreman contacted cable provider and it weas restored the same day. For a dirty job, creww was efficient and tidy. Extra dirt removed was placed where I directed and remainder hauled away. I have had no noticeable problems since the repair. Would use again, but hopefully will not have the occasion to do so.
Description of Work: Foundation required repair and obtained numerous estimates that ranged from 8 pillars to 15. Even had structural engineer perform check (at my own expense). His report and Hunt's matched closest so went with them. They placed 15 pillars around approximately one-half of the house and applied EarthLok.

The crew and the foreman arrived a little late (maybe 30 minutes) but called to let us know. On arrival, the crew unloaded supplies in the driveway while the foreman came inside and rechecked and remeasured the things that the representative had put on the diagram. He went outside and did the same thing, took my husband with him to explain the exterior work to him. Foreman got his crew started and stayed with them and checked each stage of the process, measuring after each small lift until it was like he wanted it. At noon, they broke for lunch but stayed in our yard. I believe that the whole operation took about 7 to 8 hours and was done carefully. The last thing they did was to replace the shrubs back in the beds and filled in the mortar between bricks where it had cracked before. Then they cleaned up every scrap of paper and every pile of dirt. When all was done, the foreman walked us around the house with a check list and had us rate each thing. After we did this, we signed off on the job. All in all, it was a good experience and we feel that we got good value for out money.
Description of Work: Due to dry weather, we had many cracks and they were getting worse with time. We called G.L. Hunt and they sent a representative to our home. He measured all around the house inside and out, to determine how far the house had sunk and where he would need to put the concrete piers to raise the sunken areas. He made us a diagram of where these would go and explained to us how they would dig and where they would dig. Said that shrubs would be put back and that mortar would be patched to match the original on our brick. He figured an estimate and left it with us. We called later that week to schedule the work.

As is usual around these parts, sand can cause all sorts of condensation problems in any foundation. At first they were a little reluctant to hydraulically lift up the entire foundation to the height our engineer said was necessary, but they finally did so and the job was completed to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: The foundation of our 2500 square foot house was cracking and we had the contractor jack up the base and set in concrete peers. The job took about 4 full days to complete and they took away the waste with them when they left.
