G.L. Hunt Foundation Repair

Great experience with G.L. Hunt! Heath from G.L Hunt came to our house quickly after making a call to schedule an inspection. He inspected the inside of the property, then the outside and finally the inside once more. He did not find any noticeable signs of structural decay. He provided some great recommendations on drainage improvements we could make to the property to prevent future problems down the road. The reason for our call was that we noticed new "settling" cracks in the drywall (1935 pier and beam house). What I really appreciated was that he did not try to sell us on some "unneeded" repairs. He was honest about the house and I believe his drainage tips were well thought out. If the situation does come up in the future where I do need foundation work, G.L Hunt will be the company I call.

GL Hunt provided quality people that did great work. My co-worker is gushing about them.

We had five companies come out, one of which was GL Hunt. The gentleman that came out was polite and took all the measurements that the others took. He used scare tactics and told us that we need approximately $24,000 in repairs. All of the others told us that no repairs were recommended. Beware of this company. Again, they did come out, were on time and the man was courteous, but WOW.

My experience went very well, they were even able to start my job a week ahead of the scheduled time . Eduardo and his crew were excellent! They are very professional and hard working, finishing the job in one day. I would recommend GL Hunt and this particular crew to anyone who needs pier and beam foundation work. Pricing may be a tad high, but the overall service, professionalism and finsihed product are worth it. I could tell a difference in my house instantly. Heath Jennings is a delight to work with. He is very knowledgable about what needs to be done and explains the process in terms you can understand. He is straightforward with the pricing and there were no hidden charges. The only problem I have is,now with all the rain the areas that were excavated and back filled have settled and need lots more dirt. I've asked them to bring my dirt back and Heath agreed to do so! LOL...........

This went well for us. I feel as though they are a bit expensive.

We interviewed four different foundation contractors plus had our own structural engineer come in to evaluate our problems. Three of the repair companies were very in line with the structural engineer's report which was comforting. We did not share the engineer''s report with any of the foundation folks until after they provided us with their suggestions, they hit the nail right on the head with where the piers had to be placed and how many. Heath Jennings of GL Hunt was great to deal with. He was very professional and knew what he was doing. He has a lot of experience in this business. We are pleased with the company and the results and highly recommend GL Hunt as a part of your investigation.

Our first contact with a representative of this company was December 19th, 2014. His name was A.J. I'd tried several different companies in the area and couldn't even get someone to come out and look at the house, but when I called G.L. Hunt, they were able to give me an appointment for an assessment on the day and time I wanted. A.J. was personable and enthusiastic. He walked the property inside and out, took some measurements and went under the house for a while too. When he was ready to give us his assessment, he first told us that this was one of the best looking homes underneath he'd seen in a long time. The house was built in 1955 or 1956 and he said the wood was in great condition and it only needed shimming underneath. He explained in detail what that was and how it would help the house. He answered every question we had. He then told us the "bad" news about one corner of the home where it was settling the most. He explained it was the only section that was going to need pier work and that 5 would probably fix it. He explained what that entailed, how it was done and why it was important. Next he gave us the estimate for the work and explained that if we wanted it done, it would be March before he could get a crew out to do it. He explained that the time of year gets very busy for them with pier and beam in particular because of the cooler, wetter weather. He talked about 2 different crews the company has that could do the pier and beam work. One foreman has over 20 years experience and the other is 15 or 17 years experience. We asked if we could get the most experienced crew and he called the office to see when they would be available. March 9th and 10th, and if we wanted to schedule them, we would have to put 1/2 the estimate down. We decided to make the arrangement. March 9th came raining and we got a call early that morning from the office telling us the crew would not be able to do their work in the rain. We were disappointed, to say the least, but the company cannot be held accountable for the weather. March 10th they were here bright and early and eager to get started. The foreman, Eduardo, was very nice and apologetic about the previous day. We showed him where everything was that he would need, and he laid plastic down with tape across our hardwood floors so the men would have a path to get to the crawl space when they needed to go underneath to start the shimming. Amazingly, they were able to complete all the work in 1 day. After they finished installing the piers, they walked around the outside of the house and everywhere that had cracks in the bricks, they filled in with mortar. EVERY SINGLE PLACE. They checked all the doors and even did some work around the front door to make it just right. During the process, he kept us informed of things that were going on and toward the end of the day, the water was shut off. After a few minutes of that, he came to tell us one of the pipes in the main bathroom didn't survive the movement of the house and we would need a plumber to fix the repair. He said he'd already called it in to his office, that his company was going to pay for the repair and that a plumber should be out the next day from Dal-Worth Plumbing to fix it. He apologized over and over, but since A. J. had done such a great job of preparing us for what could or might happen when the house got "moved" we were okay. Besides, they are picking up the tab; who can complain about that? After the crew left, we walked around the house and already noticed a difference. Let's not forget that they cleaned up after themselves, pulled up the taped down plastic AND they even swept the path after taking up the plastic!! How many companies actually clean up after themselves?? This was amazing. Our overall experience with G. L. Hunt has been positive, and I would recommend this company to anyone with foundation issues. Every person we have dealt with representing that company has been a true professional without the "coldness" one often gets from a large company. I should also like to note that the crew that came to fix our home; they are employees of the company, not a hired contractor. So when the workers come, you are dealing with representatives of the company that did the estimate; not a separate business. Someone might think we paid a lot for the type of work that was done, but I look at it like this. We got a lifetime transferrable warranty on the pier work, the crew are employees of the company, not a separate contractor, they cleaned up after themselves, they paid for plumbing repair that occurred while trying to fix the home, and they even put everything outside back like they found it. Every bit of the money we spent was worth it and if you find yourself in need of foundation work, brace yourself a little but call this company. They won't let you down.

They came out inspected the foundation and other than one small area that was of slight concern found nothing wrong. Living in North Texas you always worry about foundation issues and with a ton of companies on the take trying to take advantage it was great to find a company who was honest and did not recommend work that was not needed . If I ever need foundation work which I hope I never do I will be using these guys... If you want a honest analysis of your foundation I highly recommend this company

Heath Jennings with JL Hunt was referred to me by a local landscape company. Initially I contacted Heath by phone to inquire about my possible need for root barriers for my trees as I believed they were causing some problems to my foundation. Heath was kind enough to visit with me on the phone for about 30mins and answer a wide variety of questions that I had as well as suggesting some points of contact related to root barriers such as an arborist to get their opinions. Upon finding out we lived close by each other Heath offered to come by and give me a second opinion on the foundation and look at things as I had already had another company come by. While visiting with Heath he walked my whole residence and gave me pointers on things to look for in the future. Heath provided with a lot of information related to how poor drainage can cause foundation problems. Heath provide me with knowledge on what to look for and some things that I could do so that I hopefully would not need their services as it relates to foundation work in the future. Heath is very knowledgable in his field and I learned that JL Hunt had a wide variety of services such as drain installation, foundation work, etc. In a field where your paycheck is based on commission it was refreshing to get an honest and fair opinion rather than being sold something I didn't need. I am glad I do not need Heath's services at this point in time, but if I do ever need work performed this is the company that I will be going to. Heath spent almost an hour with me answering all of my questions even though I am sure he was able to tell after the walk through of my residence that I did not need foundation work and he would not be making any money off me. Heath represents JL Hunt well and I wish there were more people like him.

I went online and asked for someone to call me about checking out my foundation. I did this on Sunday to 6 different companies and GL Hunt was the only one to get back to me the same day. The other companies called the following Monday, Tuesday or not at all. When I spoke with the person about a date and time she was extremely friendly starting me off feeling like I was working with a nice company. On the scheduled day the tech (named Heath) came out at the right time and called a few different times to update me. This was extremely respectful because I have a 8 month old at home and appreciated the heads up. When Heath came out I wanted someone to really spend a few extra minutes helping me understand what was happening with my homes foundation. He did just that. He went into detail why the house was moving the way it was and what should be addressed to correct it. He went into great detail to make sure I fully understood and addressed all of my concerns. I felt like he gave me advice as if it was his house and his wallet that was being worked on. I often get MULTIPLE bids from many companies when needing something this impactful before making a decision. Heath did such a great job it was easy to compare the service and cost to all of the other guys. Heath was very upfront about being the best VALUE and not just the cheapest or most expensive. He was 100% right!!! Once all of the bids were completed I obviously got emails from everyone wanting to know who I was going with. GL HUNT was the only one who had the owner call, ask if I had any more questions, thanking me for just giving them the opportunity and even going as far as sending me a hand written card and a nice little treat. They truly understand service. Many companies TALK about their service but very few back it up. I am in the customer service industry so I grade companies hard and they exceeded my expectations. Needless to say I decided to go with GL HUNT but the awesomeness didn't stop there............I asked for a little bit of help on the price to make it more affordable for my family they did just that. I called, presented a counter offer to them and they called back the very next day and countered me back with a LOWER offer than I asked for. Who does that??????? I will write another post once they come out and complete the work but I do not expect any thing less that perfect from these guys.

Adam Browning came and gave us an estimate for the repairs. Before he left, he was able to give us a print-out of where the piers are needed and went all aound our house with my husband to point out the trouble spots. He was very professional and polite. We knew that house was in bad shape when all the doors were sticking and there were cracks in the walls and in the bricks. He assured us that things could come back together and that the company dealt with even greater problems than ours. He gave us a quote on 25 piers and finance options. The crew came on time the next week and the foreman was really nice. I felt very comfortable immediately and was able to leave and go to work without worries. The job was finished late on the second day, but the crew sealed all of the windows, applied mortar to any parts of the house that needed it, and it looks great! As expected, we did get some cracks in some of our walls after the house was lifted, but those are easy fixes, and at least I have the assurance that my house isn't falling apart now! I'm very pleased with the service. The foreman Eduardo only put in 23 piers because he said that once the garage side of the house was lifted, it took care of the rest of the garage. How great was that! I believe that this company employs honest, hard-working people who have great pride in doing excellent work.

After a miserable experience with another company and with the recommendation of a co-worker I called GL. I only called once compared to the 15 or more times I called the company who was supposed to have rectified the problem a year ago. Heath met me at my home and performed a thorough inspection, checking the levels throughout the house. It was then I discovered the foundation of my home was under warranty from the other company. After multiple attempts to make contact with the owner of the other company to set up a warranty claim, I received a call from one of his employees apologizing for the owner's lack of response. He stated he wanted to get the issue resolved. I was grateful until he arrived to correct the problem. The single employee dug one hole and discovered a concrete pier they had installed. There was a one-inch gap between the top of the pier plate and the foundation of my home. He place another one or two shims on top of the old ones and jacked it up to the foundation. He informed me that he had been instructed to pump his jack only 24 times and let it go at that. He did so, covered the hole and left. It was obvious that I had no warranty. I called GL Hunt back and scheduled the work required to correct the foundation problem. Although the price was three-times what the previous owner had paid for the unwarranted work, there was little question the work had to be done. The GL Team showed up on time, with a team of five technicians and one supervisor/Engineer. They went right to work. They dug four holes around my foundation; two of which served two piers. they cut a 2x2 foot hole in my front porch to enable a pier to be placed under the foundation. Shortly after lunch they started the sinking of the nine steel piers. The two piers under the fireplace sank 27-feet before reaching suitable resistance. The other seven sank to a level between twenty and twenty-three feet. After each pier had reached sufficient resistance, the power jacks were removed and heavy duty hand jacks were placed at each location. The five technicians each took charge of the jacks while the Engineer determined how much each position needed to lift in order to make the foundation level up properly. It was like a orchestra director leading his team. The Engineer counted the cadence and each technician pumped their individual jacks in accordance with the number of pumps the engineer had directed. The chimney settled in snug against the house and the final shims were installed. The foundation now secured the technicians refilled the holes, reset the stones outlining the flower beds, filled the hole opened in my porch and finished it off with new concrete. They resealed the chimney to the house with a mortar solution, cleaned the area, replaced all of the shrubbery and vegetation removed and except for the fresh dirt in the flower beds and the fresh concrete patch, you couldn't tell they had been there. I applaud the job performed and the professional approach displayed to the project. It was beyond obvious the team knew exactly what they were doing and did the job exceptionally well. I highly recommend GL Hunt Foundation for any and all forms of foundation repairs.

Prompt, professional, courteous. When we did encounter a problem, they were very good at communicating what the problem was and the various solutions and the cost. The crews were very contentious about working around the shrubs and landscaping. Overall I was very impressed with G L Hunt and would not hesitate to call them again on any foundation issues.

The company is excellent all the way. Adam was the person who first came out to show me what they do and Kevin was the chief. They could not have been any better. Always gentlemen and work went on really well. I can't say enough about them. They were right on.

From the company owner to the workers everyone was a professional. They took our circumstances into consideration and made us feel comfortable with all they would be doing to put our home level again. The owner of the company also called to thank me for using them and that if I ever had a question or concern to please call him immediately. Our Sales person, Adam explained all the different types of piers and what would be best for us as we have a pier and beam plus partial slab home. He even called in one of their foremen to look things over to make sure what he was telling me was correct due to having both of those foundations. The foremen who came to our home were punctual, professional, courteous and articulate as were the crew. They not only kept the job site neat and clear but answered our neighbor?s questions. In the middle of the repair we had a family emergency and they were very cooperative with us regarding the issue. I'd highly recommend G.L. Hunt Company to anyone in the Fort Worth/Dallas area for their foundation repair.

Service was excellent, they showed up when they said they would and completed the work in the time frame they said they would. They cleaned up afterwards, put everything back as it was before the work started and we are extremely pleased with the results. We had some large cracks in our living room and right away those were hardly noticeable and still are a week after the work was done.

I was employee of a Bank that G.l.Hunt inc. on all reverse mortgage application. I called several companies but was the most comfortable with G.L.Hunt and their representative Heath Jennings. Heath was very professional and explained how my house had shifted. The first repairs were 15 piers . They removed my bushes and replaced all landscaping. When the dirt settled they came back and refilled the areas that needed dirt. They put piers by my back door ( on patio) fill with concrete and when cracked they came back to redo and it is in good shape. In January of 2013 I called Heath with another problem where the house was high, it had sunk and we had another 9 piers put in that area. That was a cost of $2475.00. I called Heath in July because of a crack that appeared above my den window ( a pier is below the window). To have him look to see if the pier had shifted? We had plumber do a test on water leakage under slab. So now we are working on 2 sewer leaks under my house. I have referred G.L. Hunt to several of my friends and neighbors who have used them. I'm pleased with their work and concern on fixing anything need that need to be done

They did a great job. I have not had to repair any cracks on the walls or had any foundation movement since they completed the job.

Adam Browning the Field Technician arrived at our house at the appointed time. He spent two hours inspecting the work to be performed and explaining very thoroughly to my wife and me exactly what would be done and the exact cost of the job. He was very courteous and professional . He answered all our questions and left us feeling very secure in our decision to go with his company. When the crew arrived at the appointed time to begin work, Kevin the foreman also was very professional and organized . He too was courteous and knowledgeable and again made us feel comfortable with our decision in choosing G.L. Hunt. The workmen impressed me with their efficiency and speed in which they performed. When the job was complete they left the job site as clean as they found it. G.L. Hunt Company is highly recommended by us for their high quality and professional work. They were all timely and professional and their attitude on the job was outstanding. We would recommend this company to anyone looking for honest, dependable work performed.

A representative from GL Hunt (Adam) came to access the issues and to take measurements. Adam was professional and courteous. He explained what would be done, and quoted a price, not just an estimate. A few days later, the work began. Eduardo was the foreman of the job and he too was professional and courteous. When an unforeseen problem arose, Adam called and said he would send out help to fix the problem. Again, Eduardo came and worked on the problem. Eduardo even came back on his day off to complete the work. I would highly recommend this company. They have pride in and stand behind their work.
