This company was very honest and thorough, and they even didn't charge us the last time we called. The people that came out were excellent, professional and determined that we didn't need any repairs after all. I am just so impressed, I can't say a bad word about them!
Description of Work: I recently had this company do some repair work on the foundation of my house.

They arrived on time with multiple workers and completed the job within several days. They had to dig a long trench around the house to accomodate the French and surface drains. They neatly piled the dirt on tarps so that damage to the lawn would be minimized. Overall, the installation went smoothly and was as neatly done as could be expected. They even came back and filled in some areas that had settled slightly. Overall, I was very happy with their work. The bottom line is that the drainage system works as they claimed it would (2 years after installation). I would use them again.
Description of Work: Structured Foundation Repairs installed a drainage system around my house to remove water that collected near the foundation. Our house is in a hole so all of the runoff from the yard and roof tended to collect around the foundation. They installed a long French drain (to remove underground water) and a surface drain (to remove surface water). Runoff from the roof also went directly into the surface drain. The drains dump out into a green belt behind our house.

Doug Porubsky arrived at the scheduled time and did a thorough evaluation of the home. From the measurements taken, it appears that the home was constructed on a slope making it difficult to determine how and where the foundation may have shifted. The doors are square in most of my home including the lower, front of the house. However, it is evident from a crack in one place on the exterior that there is damage. Mr. Porubsky suggested they return in the summer months to re-evaluate and see where there is movement. He explained how incorrectly placed piers could create additional damage. I appreciate his honesty, value his opinion, and trust his judgment. I plan to heed his advice and have him return in July. I will hire Structured Foundation Repair to do the repairs required.

Although Structured Foundation was the most expensive of the three bids we received, we chose them because of the complete service they provide. The quote included 3 things that were not included in the other bids: obtaining the city permit, a post-lift plumbing inspection by a 3rd party plumber, and an engineer's report from a 3rd party engineer after the work is complete. Additionally, they are bonded and insured, and do not use sub-contractors or day laborers. We had a false start; the work was rescheduled to Saturday due to weather. Saturday came and went, and no one showed up. I called the contact number I was given, but there was no answer. Monday morning, I got a very apologetic call from Structured Foundation, and we rescheduled for Wednesday. The workers showed up on time, and did a very professional job. They put the dirt on tarps so it did not get in my lawn, and hauled away the extra. The work was completed within the estimated time. The plumber contacted me on Thursday, and came out for the inspection on Friday - no leaks! I would recommend Structured Foundation.

Tom came out and made the bid. It was a smooth process and he put me at ease. The job itself took three days, and involved 25 exterior piers and three interior. The three interior piers required pulling back the carpet. The crew generally did a good job, but I wasn't really prepared for the mess that they left behind. In addition to lots of food wrappers and other litter, the dirt holes were rather unevenly filled. At the time of the bid, Tom made it seem like they were just going to cut a small hole in the carpet for the interior piers--I did not realize I was going have to hire a professional to come back in and re-lay the carpet. While I realize that they have to do what they have to do to repair the foundation, I wish he'd been more communicative. When we had concrete work done for pool repairs a while back, the pool company did a great job making the concrete look like it was undisturbed. In this case, however, with the hole that they cut in the patio, it's not even close in color and texture. If I'd known that it would be so unsightly, I would have had them leave the hole and hired professional concrete people to patch it. Frankly, never having had this type of work done, I have no idea if my experience was good or bad in comparison to others.

Response from Structured Foundation Repairs and Roofing Systems
Thank you for your feedback. We will definitely address your concerns with our employees. We strive to leave your house as tidy as possible when we leave and it does not feel like we met your expectations in this area. I should make note that we cannot put the carpet back when we are finished because the concrete has to cure but we do have referrals for companies that can do it very economically to help you out. I apologize if we did not communicate that effectively on the front end. If you will call our office and ask for Jaclyn, she will be more than happy to send someone out to re-grade the dirt and perform any remaining cleanup. Again, thank your for your feedback and please feel free to contact me with any further concerns. Heidi Morrison, Operations Manager (972-484-1200)

They were courteous, professional, on time and took great care with my home and my many questions. I am pleased with their work. After the repair is completed - they send an indendent engineer and plumber to re-check my home. I had to call about these services as it seemed like quite a bit of time had elapsed and I had not been contacted about this. My paperwork had been misplaced -- but they rectified the situation, apologized profusely and followed up immediately. The whole process was new to me and a bit overwhelming -- but I was thoroughly pleased with their work. The Crew boss and the office staff were especially pleasant and easy to work with.
Description of Work: After noticing cracks in my interior walls, I checked on Angie's List and with family friends. I selected Structured Foundation Repairs to come and check my house. There was a difference in elevation of over 2 inches in the foundation. This required installing 16 piers.

This was an A+ experience. The work was done right, it started on time, ended on time and the work area was left as clean as it was when they started. After the crew finished, with the exception of the upturned perimeter dirt and a much more level slab, you couldn't even tell they had been there. When the need arises, I will refer Structured Foundation with great confidence to my friends, neighbors, family and other loved one.

I thought that they were very good and responsive when I called for information. In general, I thought they did a good job. There was some concrete work that was not well done the first time and they had to redo. We also had some issues with the soil around the piers that needed to be replaced. I live in a pier and beam home and was concerned that I had foundation issues that may require shimming the home. Brandon came out to take a look and indicated that I had no issues and the "problems" that I had perceived were just normal movement within a home. I was fairly convinced that something would need to be done and Brandon could have told me so without me questioning it. His honesty saved us thousands of dollars; we are very appreciative. That is the way to do business and we will surely contact them in the future if we do have foundation issues.

I was very impressed with Cace's knowledge and professionalism. Though we did not need any work done, it was a very pleasant experience. I will call Structured Foundation Repairs again if I see any changes or need repairs.
Description of Work: I called Structured Foundation Repairs to inspect my foundation due to some cracks on the exterior brick. We had some separation of dirt away from the base of the foundation slab. Cace Collins came and inspected inside and out and determined that I should build the dirt level higher around the foundation. He did not see anything that he felt should require foundation work and explained perfectly what the situation was and how to prevent it.

Initially we had three companies come out, take elevations, and suggest corrections for what we felt were significant foundation issues. All three suggested we not have foundation work, and two thought our problem might relate to water leaks or an underground spring. We had an engineer come out and take elevations, and he actually recommended significant foundation work. His initial report called for 41 piers, 30 exterior and 11 interior. After we received his recommendation. we had three companies bid on the work. We chose Structured to do the work...they were not one of the three that came out initially. Because of the scope of work to be done, we chose to basically move out of the home. We planned to move to Austin in July anyway, so we wound up putting most of our stuff in storage and took the rest with us to an apartment nearby. Turns out moving out was a genius move. I can't imagine trying to live in the home through this significant a lift. The work started right on schedule. If you haven't lived through foundation work, all I can say is try and look at pictures beforehand. It can be a little disconcerting to walk into your house to find a three foot pile of dirt and a big hole! The crew that was assigned to our project were all very courteous and professional, and did good work. They were incredibly conscientious about the appearance of the property, cleaning up materials and sweeping everything each day prior to leaving. Once they had the piers in place and began the lift, everything went well. They actually got to a point where they could not lift one side of the house any further without risking structural damage, so they stopped until our engineer came back out. He took more elevations and recommended the other five piers, which we agreed upon. At that time, he commented that the lift on the other side of the house was "impressive"...they had lifted to the point where there was very minimal elevation difference, with little to no additional damage. Once the additional five piers were in place, they were able to lift that side of the house and complete the work, on schedule. They put things back as well as possible outside, and did a good job filling the holes inside the home. One thing...we probably didn't mention that we were going from carpet to wood laminate inside. Some of the concrete fill was a bit high, which would have required more float for the laminate flooring. Structured came back and rather than grind down the concrete, took those plugs completely out and re-poured. My biggest concern through the whole project was with the communication we received. While the work was being done, the only communication I had was with the foreman on site (other than communication I initiated, and believe me, I initiated some). Biggest thing is I believe there should be a company liason who communicates with their customers while the work is being done, at least on projects of this size and scope. First concern...the foreman made a comment about his boss wanting the guys to go fast so they wouldn't have overtime. I've been in that situation before, asking someone I managed to avoid overtime, so I understand. That being said, we were looking at piers all the way around the exterior of our house as well as a bunch inside, and a 6" lift. I certainly didn't want to hear that they were rushing the project! Basically, this is more a training issue rather than a quality of work concern. Second, when they ran into the lift problem mentioned above, they stopped work until we decided on what to do. I asked them to wait until we could bring our engineer back to make recommendations. I left the house and came back just before lunch. On my return, I found the guys filling the holes where the piers were placed. I asked why they were filling the holes when the lift was not complete, and the foreman said his boss told him to fill the holes and finish the job. I think this was again more of a language/communication problem...I spoke to someone with the company (regrettably rather angrily...all I had to go on was the "no overtime" comment combined with being told they were to "finish the job" while there were obviously still some elevation issues), and found out the crew was filling the holes in order to protect the home, so there would not be any exposed piers, until we made a decision on the additional piers. In this case Structured was doing the right thing, but had someone contacted me proactively rather than allowing me to find out what was going on from the foreman, most of my anger/concern could have probably been avoided. Short story, both sides could have handled some things differently. I still believe Structured could have done a better job communicating with me, but at the same time I should have reacted and handled the situation WAY different than I did. Taking the communication concerns out of the equation, Structured did a wonderful job on our SIZABLE lift. We did have to have some plumbing issues repaired before it passed inspection, but our engineer came out and gave it two thumbs up. He was very pleased with the work performed. We have since had the elevations checked twice due to some questions/concerns, and in both cases all elevations have measured exactly what they did following the lift. Overall we are happy with the work done by Structured, and would have no problem using them in the future or recommending them to others. Short story, this is one of those "thrill of victory, agony of defeat" type things. Communication was lacking, but the actual work performed was great.
Description of Work: Installed 46 piers (33 exterior and 13 interior) on a 1,600 sq. ft. home. Significant project, as there was approximately 6" elevation difference between the high point (middle of back wall) and the front of the house.

It was fine except they couldn't get my sidewalk back to the way I think it should be. They tried to fix something I think they should have just taken out; even their supervisor thought it was a horrible job. Their foundation work was good, but the sidewalk work was poor. They were the only company in town to come look at my house before I hired them. When I complained, they were very responsive. I was upset with the foreman. He sat in the pickup with air conditioning the whole time leaving the workers in the heat. Because I'm hearing impaired, I asked them to send me a translator and he didn't leave my side during the whole job.

Our house was built in 1960 and we knew we were having some typical 1960-slab foundation issues. We were also wanting to put our house on the market so we called Structured under the recommendation of our real estate agent, along with a few others. Tom Kidd came out and did the inspection and gave us the bid. He was prompt, well informed and easy to work with. His bid was actually in the middle of the three bids we recieved so we opted to use them. We could not have been happier with the work. They were easy to deal with and seemed very concerned with our house - moving a house as old as ours, with as many piers we installed as daunting. We installed 14 piers total. They explained what "could" happen and fully prepared us for anything that the foundation repair might cause - including the cosmetic issues with sheet rock, etc. and the potential plumbing issues that could arrise. Our house is somewhat jinxed so we had the worst of everything happen - but along the way Structured was there - they were supportive, they recommended a great plumber and held our hand through the process. I was not super happy about having to do so much foundation work, because who would be, but i was really happy with their service. So happy that we are now in fact going to use them (hopefully) on a new house we are going to make an offer on - if we get the house of course! They came out and did a preliminary inspection for me, Rodney the inspector was awesome. He was candid about the house and it's potential issues. And he gave us a bid that seemed more than reasonable, this was affirmed by our current real estate agent (a different agent than before and someone who had not worked with them before.)I have recommended them to several friends and would certainly use them again.
