Both times, even when by my untrained eye it looked like I was going to have huge foundation bids, they did their calculations and showed me that there was minimal or no repair needed! That's amazing and it shows that they don't lie to get business. I highly recommend these guys!!!
Description of Work: This company came highly recommended by a house inspector I hired. Two times I hired this company to evaluate the foundations on houses I was considering buying.

Scheduling was efficient and prompt. The visit was very professional. They measured / surveyed the entire foundation because we thought we had a problem. it turns out that the foundation was in good shape and no additional work was needed. Foundation repair is a high margin business, and it takes courage and integrity to say that no work is needed. We even got recommendations on what to do to maintain our foundation and signs to look for. We recommend Structured Foundation and we will call them if we ever have real foundation trouble or to inspect a house.

We had problems with this company from the very beginning. Very Poor with communication. Which should have been a warning sign. July of 2012 we had them come out and give a quote the day i moved into the house. We had to hold off for a few months while i dealt with everything else, but then called them back up early December to schedule the work to be done. They said that they were booked up till February. We agreed that would be okay, to put us on the books and they would call early February to let us know when they would be out here. mid February came and still did not hear from them so i called. They didn't even have me in the books at this point. And they could tell i was frustrated at this point. They said they would try to squeeze me in march. At this point i was thinking about going with a different company, which i should have done, but starting over from scratch would have taken even longer and i needed to get the foundation complete because i had pluming work that also needed to get done. so we agreed on march. The workers got here, everything seemed to be going smoothly. I found it completely distasteful to see the workers going behind my garage to use the bathroom. Companies like this should have a port a potty in the back of their trailer. it was uncalled for, and would have honestly preferred them just knock and come inside the house, even if they where dirty. Pretty soon into the work i heard a very large bang. Walked into the room i heard it to see my marble mantel floor completely shattered. I had them stop to come take a look what was done. They had placed the jack to raise the house directly under the mantle. now after reading the contract it does state that when the house is to be lifted someone of the company must be in the house. This was never the case. Someone should have been inside to see exactly where this jack was before lifting it. The company knew where the work was going to be at, and not once did they ever warn me about this maybe happening. I was warned of minor wall cracks and things of that nature. If i would have been warned i would have much rather preferred paying a handyman to come and take down the mantel, instead of having to replace it! then started the long drawn out process of trying to get the fireplace fixed. They did extra work on the house that they didn't charge me for, and was willing to half the cost of the new marble with me. I did appreciate them trying to work with me to resolve the issue, but i do think the whole thing could have been completely avoided. And the fact that the company is horrible with communication, granted i know they where speaking in-between me and my father and our situation may have been a little different than most houses. The communication was still very poor. Was told something one week two weeks later things still didnt happen, or hear from. i would definitely NOT recommend this company to anyone. The frustration, stress, and lack of communication for exceeds any good the company may have.

Response from Structured Foundation Repairs and Roofing Systems
Response to complaint: [member information removed], Dallas Texas This customer’s complaint is so filled with inaccuracies and distortions that it will take a while to cover. Her first complaint is that we had poor communication. That is simply untrue and the exact opposite of reality. We originally inspected this home for the agent representing her in early July, 2012. After she purchased the home, she had us back out to meet her and explain the repair plan. That was at the end of July. We explained the scope of work to her and her father. The house/foundation was in bad shape (it was a 100 year old house. The brick veneer was falling into the house around the windows, part of the crawl space was inaccessible as the wood was almost touching the ground requiring us to “excavate” enough dirt to create clearance to access and repair the foundation). We went on to explain that after the excavation there probably will be rotten wood that will need to be replaced at an additional charge. They understood the scope of work. In late December, her father called our representative to say they were now ready to do the repairs. He told the father that we were currently about 2 months out on the schedule and, that as soon as they signed and returned the contract to us, we would give them an actual schedule date. After a few weeks without hearing from them or receiving the signed contract, we attempted to contact them. We didn’t have either one of their phone numbers, but we did have her email address. We sent several emails over the next few weeks with no response (apparently, our emails were going to her spam). In mid-February, our representative happened to be across the street inspecting another home and left his business card with a message that he could not get in touch with her. She called back about a week later saying she was supposed to be on the schedule for late February. He explained about not receiving the contract and only being able to email her. He went to her home within a few days to get the contract signed and schedule the repairs. During this visit, our representative went over the scope of work again and what to expect. He explained that doing foundation work on a home involved moving the floors and that whenever you move part of a home, you can cause damage. Damage can occur when a house settles and also can occur when it is raised back into place. This is especially true in the case of a 100 year old home. He gave her examples of what can happen: loose bricks can fall off, windows can break, cracks can occur in the walls and floors, etc. The point of having that conversation is to alert the homeowner that there are inherent risks in moving a home. We don’t list every single item that could possibly be damaged because that is simply not practical. We are simply trying to give them a general understanding of the risks associated with foundation repair. Our contract is also very specific in saying that we are not responsible for damage that occurs, which is an industry standard. She admits that we talked about potential damage, but didn’t specifically mention the mantle. By the way, what she is calling the mantle is actually the roughly 2 foot by 8 foot decorative flooring located right in front of the hearth. Probably more accurately called the fireplace surround. It is essentially a small marble floor in front of the hearth. She complains that we were lifting the home without anyone supervising causing the marble to break. That is also not true. The work that was done under the fireplace and all along the left side of the home was replacing the rotten sill plate (sill plate is a 2x4 laying flat on top of the concrete perimeter beam and under the floor joists). To replace the sill plate, it is necessary to lift the floor joists off of the sill plate so it can be removed and a new plate installed. It was while doing this that the fireplace surround broke. Our crew supervisor called our representative to tell him what happened. When our representative tried to explain that we were not responsible for damage, as was explained to her prior to the repairs, she responded: “If you do not fix and pay for this, we will sue.” Incidentally, threatening to sue is generally not the best way to encourage someone to help you. Even after hearing that she threatened us with a lawsuit, I instructed our representative to tell her that even though we had no responsibility to repair the marble fireplace surround, as an act of good faith, we would not charge her for the roughly $1,500 of extra work that was done over and above the contracted amount of work. We then called her father to explain that we were going to comp the additional work as an act of good faith. He seemed okay with that “solution”. They both said they were not going to pay for our repairs until they found out what the marble surround was going to cost to fix. The following week we followed up with her and found out that she had made one call to a wholesaler who quoted her a price of $3,600 for just the marble. Our representative told her that was not right, and, on his own time, visited almost 10 different wholesalers/fabricators. He found someone who could match the marble and install it for $1,200. We gave her his contact information to schedule the work. During this time, there was a total of 28 calls that we made to them with only 5 being returned. We never got any calls that weren’t a response to ours. We would get an agreement with one of them, and the other would say no. Since they were holding up payment for our repairs until the marble was fixed and since they weren’t doing anything to set that up (after agreeing to), our representative actually called the fabricator for measuring and the install. We were finally paid a little over two months after our work was completed. We have successfully repaired over 10,000 homes and are recipients of the Angie’s List Super Service Award. Never have we had a customer like this. We went above and beyond trying to help this customer and her response was to besmirch our company and our work. I understand why anyone would be upset if something undesirable happens during our repairs. That is human nature. But, I’m not aware of any other foundation company that goes to the lengths that we do in trying to prepare the customer for all of the possible issues that can result when you move a house.

The representative was punctual. After he completed his inspection, he explained the situation to me including showing me pictures of the current issues. I have had two other foundation companies do work for me and got an estimate from another company. This was the only company that told me that they would get a permit and that required an engineering report before and after the work. I realize that the engineer is hired by the company but it does provide a third party examination of the work. I did not crawl under the house to examine the work but felt that the work was done properly. I have a positive opinion of this company. I used another company on a different house and have had problems that I have not been able to get them to address, even though there is a warrenty and they are a large company.

I was preparing to do some remodeling, and wanted to make sure there were no existing issues with the foundation before spending a lot of money on renovations. Structured came out and did the job quickly. The engineer found no issues and there was no charge for the inspection. They are a class act. I'd heard about them on the radio and here on Angie's List, so I thought I'd try them out. I'm glad I did! On-time, professional, courteous.

Chad arrived on time and he was ready to work. He explained what he was going to do and started mapping the elevation of the foundation of the entire house. After carefully going thru the entire house, showed us the results. Chad told us that even though the foundation had some peeks and deeps, it was within the normal fluctuations a foundation goes thru. Advised that no work need to be done and gave us suggestions on how to water our yard. We will call them in around 2 years check again. He even suggested that, since they inspection is free of charge.

They showed up when they said they would, did an accurate estimate, so no surprises on any front. EXCEPT: they said they would repair the sprinkler lines that they broke, but did not do so. It's possible that they did not realize the area they broke, so I can give them that. It took me a couple of weeks to get my sprinkler system up and running like before. I did not allow this to affect their grade, however. They made a real, honest effort at cleaning up after themselves. It was a huge mess because it started raining half way through the first day, but they were able to finish the next day. All in all, a very good job and the foreman in particular was a really great guy, very nice yet professional. Great experience.

This team from start to finish was awesome. We'd contacted two other companies to look at our foundation as we've know that we've had movement over the years. Our house was built in 1972 and is a very long ranch (approx. 4100 sq. feet). We were estimating that it was going to be over $15K to repair it. From the very beginning, they came out and spent nearly two hours measuring the elevation every few feet and taking time to explain the process and how they would complete it. Never at any time did we feel like we were getting a sales pitch. We were shocked when they said it was going to be $7400. Although spending money on your foundation is not fun, we were really pleased to get it repaired for under $10K. When Eric and his team arrived to do the foundation repair, they were amazing. The layed tarps over the sidewalks and deck to collect the dirt they had to dig out to install the piers. We were a little freaked out when they jack-hammered about (7) 2X2 ft. holes in our back deck, but we just figured that we would get the deck re-surfaced anyway. To our amazement, when the work was completed, they cleaned up our entire property and re-poured the concrete for our back deck (which is pebble-tech). I can't even see where they jack-hammered the holes. We had no leaks or damage during the adjustment and Eric was inside monitoring the house as it was being lifted. They were professional, polite and they did exactly what they said they would do. I've had a lot of contractors disappoint me over the years. These guys were great. I'm really happy I found them on Angies list.

During initial appointment, Rhett used an instrument to measure the levelness of the foundation. He determined that 9 concrete pilings were needed to level the foundation. On the day of the repair, the workers showed up on time and got right to work. Again the instrument was used to measure the amount of lift being performed. They completed all the work the same day. The next day, a plumber showed up to make sure all the pipes are intact. The job was performed well overall. The only complaint I have is that the workers did not level the back filled the holes. Also, one of the sprinkler head was buried. During the initial appointment, Rhett did mention that they will make the best effort to preserve the landscape.

I interviewed several foundation repair companies. Out of all of them, Structured Foundation seemed more professional and provided more service. $13,000 is a lot of money, but I feel I got my money's worth. Structured pulled the permits and arranged for engineering assessments before and after the work. Our house was built in 1914 and had foundation work performed by multiple, inept organizations/individuals. I actually paid for some of this shoddy work, so I was very selective when choosing a foundation company. Structured replaced every pier under the house with code-appropriate piers, completely replaced the damaged beam around the perimeter of the house, and replaced three other damaged beams. They completed all of this work in three days - at one point they had 12 people working under the house. One other note: most of the foundation companies I talked to said they could start within a couple of days, which tells me they either didn't have any work or they just picked up people off the street to do the work. Structured had to schedule us about a month out because they were so busy - all of the people who do work for Structured are actual employees. As I write this review, the washing machine has started its spin cycle. Before the foundation work, that spin cycle could be felt all over the house. Not anymore! Highly recommend Chris Bailey and Structured Foundation!

I had several estimates on my house foundation, so I knew that I had some areas that were low, and some that were high. While other companies gave me a variety of very expensive options, he determined that my situation was so complex that my best course of action would be to get a third party engineer's report to give me a better idea of what repairs actually needed to be done. I respected that he didn't try to sell me on a repair that may not have been the best option for me.

Called Structure to receive one of three professional foundation repair companies for an estimate/opinion. Very Punctual and Professional tech (Raj) came out to inspect. He was super thorough and took several measurements in and around the outside of the house. After Raj was finished he walked me through signs of settling versus foundation issues. He educated me how and when to water my foundation and how to fix settling signs such as spider cracks in corners and ceilings. However, all in all I was told that I had no current foundation issues and to make a point, Raj makes his money by selling repairs.

Response from Structured Foundation Repairs and Roofing Systems
We appreciate the positive review and hope that your individual repairs were successful. We would however like to take this opportunity to educate future customers about scheduling and what is possible and what is not possible. The customer in this instance, while she liked us the best and our pricing was the lowest, said the other company was able to do the work the same week while we were booked out at least a month. While we appreciate customer’s desires to have work done in a timely manner, there is a limit to how quickly foundation repairs can be done if they are done legally and responsibly. Even if we had a crew available that week we would not have been able to do the repairs and remain in compliance. Let me explain: In order to work in the City of Plano, a permit is required. In order to obtain a permit, a third party professional engineer must be contacted prior to the work being done to conduct a third party evaluation and confirm the repair plan. In this market, a good Engineer could be scheduled out at least a week to ten days. It then can take multiple days to obtain the Plano city permit. It also takes time to schedule the DIGTESS (utility line location service) that is mandatory anytime you dig more than 18” in the state of Texas. In the past, at times it has taken up to two weeks to have that service completed. If foundation repairs are performed and a utility line is damaged without a DIGTESS, the railroad commission of Texas will impose a fine of up to $10,000.00. All of the above items are factors that affect how quickly Structured Foundation Repairs, Inc. can do repairs. Angie’s List Customers: Please beware of foundation repair companies that say they can do the work the same week.

After he thoroughly inspected and measured (which took just over an hour), he showed me the worksheet and explained what he was looking for. Fortunately there was nothing wrong my foundation and the cracks I had shown him were merely cosmetic. I was very pleased with his thoroughness and pleased with his detailed explanation of the processes he had performed. He also gave me a copy of the worksheet and said I could use that if we ever decided to sell the house to show that an inspection had been performed. I was very pleased with the service and the free evaluation.
Description of Work: They came out to examine my foundation. I had been noticing cracks in my brick on the exterior of the house with minor cracks in the drywall in the interior. The employee came to my home on time and after showing him my concerns began taking measurements. He drew the floorplan on a worksheet and took elevation measurements in a grid pattern throughout the entire house. He also inspected the entire exterior of the foundation.

Structured Foundation inspected my home twice before recommending a plan to correct the foundation problems. Unusual circumstances made it difficult to determine the exact movement of the foundation, therefore Structured Foundation recommended waiting a period of time and allowing them to re-evaluate. I very much appreciate the extra effort taken to ensure the job was done correctly. They earned my confidence and trust. I had originally planned to get three estimates, but because of the honesty and thoroughness of Structured, I went with them. A team of 13 men arrived as scheduled and worked diligently. They had to go down 24 feet but were able to complete the work in one day -- 2 piers were inside the home, 2 in the garage, and 20 along exterior walls. The large crack in the mortar in an exterior wall has now disappeared and the bricks are once again aligned. Before the piering, I could put my fingers between the brick. Now only a hairline crack is visible. Great care was taken to limit the amount of dust and dirt. Cleanup was complete and thorough. The entire team was polite and courteous. An independent engineer was sent to inspect the property before the work was done and after the work was completed. In addition to the independent engineer, an independent plumber was sent to inspect for damage. There was none. All went well.

I was concerned with a few cracks and a sticking door after my neighboor experienced damage to her foundation. I sent an email for an estimate and was able to schedule an appointment that day for the following week. Bradley was professional and informative. When they checked the foundation, they found it was level to within acceptable tolerances. Determined that 2 concrete piers would be sufficient to stabilize the garage, though they said it was not absolutely necessary, and that it would not necessarily close the separation in the brick. It did not close the separation in the garage door, so I was disappointed. But, I was watching them perform the work; and I am satisfied they did the job properly.
Description of Work: I called them because the frame of the garage door separated from the brick exterior. They checked the level of the entire Foundation. Installed 2 concrete piers.

Promptly answered the phone and arranged for an inspection for the very next day. The consultant showed exactly at the time of the appointment. After a quick visual inspection Raj told us he did not see big causes of concern regarding the foundation and all that he sees are typical for an older house where the dry wall joints slightly separate. He then proceeded to spend a detailed amount of time taking measurements and charting readings to verify if there are problems beyond what the visual inspection would tell. Then he patiently explained a few areas to watch for as they could turn bigger if not maintained. He gave us practical tips and said his good bye. My wife and I were super impressed at the level and quality of service and professionalism for $0. We would definitely use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: Inspected the house for foundation issues.
