It was wonderful. The job was very good. We had no problems. They were on time and did what they said they would do. They were always available. I have used them one other time for a rental property. The price was very reasonable. They came back to fill in dirt.

This company was very punctual and professional. They worked quickly and got everything done in one day. We were not initially satisfied with the work because there was a problem with the floor in the family room (it did not feel solid under our feet.) We called to ask that someone come look at it. Someone did. A repair was done, and then we were satisfied with the work. The company was easy to deal with; someone was always available to answer or return our calls. We have recommended this company to friends and family who need foundation repair. Their pricing was lower than other companies we had called.

DONT USE THEM. The only time that thet were on time is when they came out to give me a quote. The day of the repair work. They showd up at 3pm and wanted to continue with the job using the headlights from the work truck. I don't know about you, but my home Is my largest investment and I don't want them working on the foundation in the dark. No call was given, they just showed up I sent the crew home when it was so dark that my solar landscape lights came on. They wanted to contunue working in the dark, but sent the crew home because they couldn't see what they were doing. They returned the next day and are working on it as I'm writing the review.

Response from Structured Foundation Repairs and Roofing Systems
The customer called me “as a courtesy” to tell me that she gave us a bad review. In that call, she complained to me that she had to call our office the day before to see if we were still coming as scheduled. I reminded her that I had originally told her that our office would call her the day before to remind her that we were coming. Since our schedule is subject to delays from unforeseen issues, we typically call them in the afternoon. She simply called us before we had a chance to call her. The next complaint was that we didn’t call her when the crew was on the way. The response to this requires some background. Her job (5 piers) was just slightly bigger than the smallest job we do and does not require a full crew of seven and an entire day to complete. Therefore, small jobs like hers are “attached to a day and a half job, or a two and a half day job, etc. On the day we were scheduled, the early job was delayed. My office spoke to the customer and gave her an approximate time that they would be there and that the crew chief would call her on the way (the customer was already clearly upset at this time). Shortly after telling her that, the crew chief called back and said that he had run into another problem and would be later than he thought. Because the customer was already upset, we decided to have the crew chief take a couple of guys to her home and get them started while he finished up the previous job. The crew chief did not call her to tell her he was on his way. He thought the office was going to do that. That was his oversight and we apologize for that oversight. The crew had about an hour left of work to complete when dusk arrived. Because the customer was upset about the delays, etc., the crew chief decided that it would be best if he could finish that day. While that is not the most desirable situation, he would have been able to light the area sufficiently enough for them to finish and I understand his decision to do that. However, the customer said no and they returned to finish early the next morning. It took them about an hour and fifteen minutes to finish. The time necessary to repair any foundation can be estimated but it is not an exact science. Sometimes the repairs go quicker than anticipated and sometimes they go slower. In this case, the start of her job was delayed because of the previous job. While that is unfortunate, it was something beyond our control. We tried to keep her informed (with the exception of the crew chief failing to call her when he way on his way) but I believe we were never going to really satisfy her. In the “courtesy” call she gave me about her bad review, she stated she was notifying me of all of the problems on her job because she was afraid we would go out of business if we didn’t “fix” some things and that she needed us to stay in business (because of the warranty on her piers). While I certainly appreciate feedback on our performance, I don’t understand the horrible review. To say that she doesn’t want us to go out of business and then start off her review: “DON’T USE THEM” doesn’t make sense. Since the only thing we really did wrong was the crew chief not calling her on his way, I believe her review is severely “over the top”. What purpose is a review like this other than to “scare” customers away from us in an attempt to hurt our business? Furthermore, as she states in her complaint, she was composing her review before the crew was even finished with the repairs. What does it say about a customer that writes a bad review before the crew is even finished? As of today, we have successfully repaired about 13,000 homes and are currently repairing about 200 homes/month. There is no other company in the DFW area that even approaches that many ongoing repairs. We’ve achieved that level of success by providing our customers with an industry leading level of service. Having said that, our company is made up of about 150 human beings. And human beings can and do make mistakes (the crew chief not alerting her to his arrival was our mistake in this case). However, our goal is to satisfy each and every customer. Unfortunately, that clearly is not always possible. Her “review” is simply not justified by the events that occurred.

The outcome was successful according to the engineer, so the work seems to have been well done. But the process was messy. We asked twice before the job for information about what to expect and what we might need to know about the process. We were told nothing. When the first crew showed up after a great deal of scheduling angst, we were treated to a string of "Didn't they tell you to move the furniture? Didn't they tell you how much dirt was going to be piled in your house? Didn't they tell you about the dust? Didn't they tell you.....etc." It is a noisy dirty process regardless but a little communication would have allowed us to save some landscaping and be prepared for the ordeal. They also sent a plumbing contractor to check the plumbing who turned out to be a real ripoff artist (Mills).

Response from Structured Foundation Repairs and Roofing Systems
This complaint that we didn’t explain what to expect is hard to understand. First of all, our representative went to this customer’s home on two different occasions and finally referred them to an engineer. When we got the engineering report’s recommendations, we prepared a proposal for the customer and called him to go over what was being done. While this is typically done in person, in this case, it was done over the phone. Our representative went over in detail with the customer what to expect and, in his words, “didn’t sugarcoat anything”. The process of installing piers on the interior of a home is a big mess and, over time, we’ve discovered that it is very difficult for a homeowner to grasp the entirety of it. Therefore, several years ago we put together a document titled “Preparing for Interior Piers” and we give it to the customer in addition to explaining it. This document was emailed to this customer prior to our repairs. The document states: “Installing interior piers can be a loud and dusty process. Our experienced crews know how inconvenient this process can be for you. They will do everything possible to insure the process is handled with the utmost care for your home and property. Carpet may need to be rolled up and/or flooring may need to be removed in order to reach the concrete slab. A jack-hammer is used to remove the slab. Plastic drapes are hung in every effort to minimize the spread of dirt and dust, however concrete dust is very fine and difficult to contain. Please protect your furniture and any valuables by removing them from the work area or covering them with sheets or plastic. Jack-hammers and pressing machines (used to press the piers into the ground) are part of our repair process. When these machines are in use, the noise level is high, comparable to a lawn mower. This noise may be hard on small children, elderly people, and pets. As the crew digs, the dirt is piled on pieces of plastic next to each hole. When all pilings have been installed, the crew will begin the lift. Should the project take more than a day, the holes will be open overnight. Care should be taken around these areas until the job is completed. The dirt will be put back in the holes and the concrete areas will be patched. Depending on humidity, it may take up to three days for the concrete to cure. Excess dirt will be removed. Please note that replacing the carpet and/or flooring and dust removal is not part of our clean up process. Please call our office should you have any questions. Thank you.” As you can see, we go to great lengths to prepare our customers for the invasiveness of installing piers in the middle of their home. Unfortunately, it is apparently still difficult for some customers to really grasp how messy it is. In any event, I’m not sure what more we can do to prepare someone for the process. The installation of exterior piers often requires the removal of bushes in the work area to be able to install the piers. Sometimes the transplanted bushes survive and sometimes they don’t. While we make a concentrated effort to preserve the landscaping, our contract states very explicitly that we cannot guarantee the survival of the landscaping. The last item on this complaint is about the 3rd party professional plumber. The only thing we hired the plumber to do is test the plumbing. Once the leak was discovered the homeowner could have hired any plumber he desired. Apparently he elected to use Mills Plumbing. Any issues with Mills Plumbing are between the homeowner and the plumber. However, after seeing the review we contacted Mills Plumbing. Apparently Mills Plumbing has since contacted the homeowner and they have worked out their differences to everyone’s satisfaction.

Mr. Jack Phelps came out to do an inspection of a property we have listed for sale. After being told we needed 10 piers by a not so reputable company, I felt the need to have other opinions. Mr. Phelps was very professional and through about pointing out things he found. At the end of the day, he was honest and told us that he DID NOT see enough damage for concern at that he didn't think repairs were needed at this time. We appreciate his honesty and wish more folks could follow suit. Thank you for your time and coming out to look at our house!

The owner, Tom Kidd, came out & was my 3rd estimate for repair. While they were not the cheapest, they were by far the best! Tom took the time to go over my results, provide options & suggestions--very honest & absolutely no pressure. The work was done today & they put in 8 piers & had to jackhammer up part of my front porch. Kevin, the crew chief was fantastic! The work was completed in one day, new cement on the porch & totally cleaned up. Only 1 rose bush had to be dug up (which was great since most of my mature landscaping in the front was along the sides needing repair)! Would highly recommend to anyone for their honesty, workmanship & price.

VERY GOOD crew and especially Van the crew chief. Van and his crew are true professional in everyway. Van answered all my questions and was very patient answering my wife?s questions. Two minor problems that occurred, Van handled without hesitation. It is a real pleasure to see workers take pride in the job they do. Good cleanup. Everyone I dealt with in this company, Heidi, Janis, and Patricia, have been extremely helpful easing my concerns that things would be accomplished on time. We are very satisfied with Structured Foundation and will use them again should the need arise.

The phone service was questionable. I felt like I was dealing with AT&T not a local company. When I indicated that we were looking for someone to evaluate our basement for a potential wall replacement, he asked if it was pier-and-beam or slab. I repeated that it was a basement. Apparently reading from a script, he asked the same question again, "Yes, but is it..." I know basements are unusual in North Texas, but seriously... I specifically asked for them to send someone who had experience with basements, and he responded, "Of course." I was not reassured. On the other hand, the estimator was right on time and extremely professional. When told we were expecting to replace one wall of the basement, he immediately informed us that they don't do that type of work, but stayed about another half an hour talking to us about the issues on our house.

Thank you for taking the time to review our company. I would, in turn, like to take the time to explain our processes and hopefully give you a different outlook on the events that transpired. On any given day we set between 25-100 appointments. The average time we spend on the phone with each customer is 4-5 minutes. We have a specific set of questions that we have developed in order to get enough information to schedule the evaluation and provide some history to the analyst. On the other hand, we want the call to be speedy and not leave the customer feeling like scheduling took forever. It is a balancing act for sure and on busy days that department runs like a well-oiled machine. I apologize if that came off like you were dealing with a phone operator. To address the basement issue it is important to note that basements are a rarity in North Texas. Only about 1 in 10,000 homes in Texas has a basement. We encounter customers on a regular basis that have Pier & Beam homes that call the understructure of the home their “basement”. So again, I apologize that Marcus did not communicate effectively why he kept asking you if your foundation was a pier & beam or a slab. He was just trying to confirm that everyone was on the same page. That is usually the question that clears things up for us. I agree that Marcus should have asked more questions regarding the nature of the repair for the basement. However, our office employees do not have the same comprehensive training as an Analyst and are directed to schedule the appointment and let the trained professional address the issues and the questions. We do have several analysts who have experience evaluating basements and we have repaired several. The gentleman he chose to visit your home was one of those Analysts. While we were unable to address your particular situation, we are pleased that you found your Analyst professional and hope he provided quality information.
