I had taken my 2001 Honda Accord to the dealership for a check engine light and had been experiencing jerky shifting between 1st and 2nd gears for about a month. The dealership very quickly informed me I would need to replace the entire transmission for $5200. I took it to Mid-Cities for a second opinion. After Mid-Cities performed a diagnostic on the car, they said it was likely a sensor error due to old, burnt transmission fluid and particle build up in the system. They recommended flushing the system and replacing the fluid as a possible solution before more drastic measures (i.e. a new transmission) be taken. Turns out this was enough to eliminate the shifting jerkyness and clear the check engine light. Since the service I've driven my vehicle to Houston twice and Austin twice and have no worries of breaking down on the side of the highway. It went from a possible $5200 repair at the dealership for a new transmission to $400 at Mid-Cities for the diagnostic and transmission system flush. They also recommended new spark plugs (which I had already planned to have done since they were overdue) and a new oil pan seal which made up the additional $600 spent. I dropped my vehicle off on Monday near closing time (~4:30pm) and picked it up Thursday morning around 10:00am. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service my vehicle received at Mid-Cities and their staff (especially Tam) were very helpful and courteous. I recommend them for major auto service needs such as transmission.

I was preparing for a major trip and wanted to have my belts and hoses changed on my 2008 Toyota Corolla with 115,000 miles. I called Mid Cities and was greeted by an amazingly cordial receptionist. She suggested to have trip inspection performed for free instead of just replacing things at random. This was a great suggestion because most the things I thought I needed done were fine but they found some serious problems that needed attention, and that other vendors didn't even address when I was in their shop. In the past I took my car to a dealer. They had done good work, but were hyper expensive and rarely suggested that I really didn't need the work I requested. Anyway, I arrived at Mid Cities and they were cordial and professional. I arrived just before lunch, so there was a slightly longer wait while the mechanics rotated through lunch. But they kept me advised of the progress on a regular basis, and even let use their loaner car to go get lunch. When they got o the car, they moved through the work steadily and statused me throughout the process. Before they began work they went over a detailed list of what they checked, and discussed the options for each recommended service. They also educated me in response to questions, and were very patient. I went to Mid Cities because of the top rating on Angie's List. I was not disappointed. It was as advertised, and oh, by the way, they readily honored the Angie/s discount listed on this web site. The shop is located near DFW airport, just south of 183, and is conveniently located near a major highways. They shop is very neat and clean, and the waiting area is comfortable. They have a small kids area and a TV, which thankfully wasn't on while I was there (most people were on their iPhone or iPad's). They have a single restroom but it was neat and clean. The location is walking distance from a number of fast food places as well. This is a efficient and reputable sole proprietor operation with a great staff, professionalism in everything they do, and best of all, they are friendly and VERY attentive. They take great care of you and you never feel you are being snookered, manipulated, or misled. And they are competent and the prices are very fair. I have lived here for 11 years and I only wish Angie's list existed earlier so that I would have found these guys a decade ago. I will be back!!
Description of Work: Full inspection in preparation for a major upcoming trip.. Changed oil and filters, front brake pads, and rear brake light bulb. Also found that the transmission needed to be flushed and fluid replaced but had to wait on that until later in the week. They also found a seriously corroded battery cable, which threatened the charging system. They actually had to rebuild the single cable to avoid me having to pay for the entire wiring harness that Toyota has engineered into the mix. That save me a ton of money. It is noteworthy that the place where I bought the battery just slapped a temporary connector on the cable, but never even addressed the risk to the charging system.

Mid Cities gave us a quote for the a/c repair then performed the work. After driving the car for a few days, we found the a/c wasn't performing adequately. We returned the car to them, and although Mid Cities spent several more hundred dollars to fix the car, they didn't charge us any additional money (even though I offered). They said that once they give a quote, they stand by it no matter what. They also did some additional work to the a/c and car that went above and beyond the actual repair. The air conditioning works GREAT now. Although they are some distance from our home, I will be going back if and when we need additional service or repair. It's just nice to know there's a service company there for us that is professional, punctual, stands behind their work, and who's value system reminds me of the old days.

They actually came to my other car shop, picked up my truck and gave me 3 different options on how to take care of my transmission. They said they could replace it, rebuild it or just fix the part and see what happens from there. I choose for them to rebuild the transmission, which is what they believed was the best idea. They put a warranty on it as well that covers up to a year. Everything runs great. A couple weeks later I noticed some transmission fluid under my truck, called them up and they said to bring it in and they took care of the problem. I have not seen a leak since. Everyone I worked with showed character and seemed like very decent people.

I use these guys a lot because I have a real POS car. This time my sister had been borrowing it and the check engine light came on. Since she was stopping by the shop to pick up her own vehicle that day, she dropped mine off for me (right before they closed) so they could take a look. First thing the next morning, I got a call saying that my car was ready. The only the thing wrong was that my sister hadn't turned the gas cap all the way when she filled it up the night before so it was showing some really scary sounding error about a fuel system leak or something. Point is, they could have charged me anything because I had no idea what was wrong with it and hadn't even seen the car in a week. Given my car's history of problems, I would have believed anything they told me, bu they were honest and didn't charge me a dime. They didn't even laugh at me for bringing it to them with such a silly problem. I love these guys.

We were not charged for their efforts and they gave us more referrals for a sloution to the problem. This car was a performance vehicle and required special testing equipment that they did not have. We were impressed with their professionalism and honesty in this matter.
Description of Work: We took our son's car there from a referral. It was making a noise in the front end on turns. The manager and a mechanic put the car on the rack. They inspected the front end, made some adjustments, test drove the car. The noise lessened some but was still noticable.

Mid-Cities Service Center has people in their business who really know what they are doing! Each of them I met possessed an attitude of commitment to excellence. I would recommend them to any of my friends and even let them work on my own mother's vehicle. I trust their quality opinion, work, reliability, pricing and sincere straight-forward attitudes. A bonus I found was that they ONLY use OEM parts to replace. Thanks, Mid-Cities Service Center, for an EXCEPTIONAL job very well done and an excellent customer service experience all around! I will most definitely return to you the next time I have a vehicle service or repair need! - And, by the way; I found them due to their already highest available rating by almost thirty previous clients on Angie's List!
Description of Work: I was initially impressed by this vendor's high rating on Angie's List, so I decided to give them a try. I called and spoke to Ron Taskey, Manager, asking if they could give me a ride back home if I dropped off the vehicle. He said, "Sure. No problem." When I got there, Ron and the lady at the front desk immediately greeted me cheerfully. I told Ron the front end on my vehicle was "shaking" back and forth badly and that I believed that I needed a four wheel alignment, if he found and agreed that was the problem, as well as the brakes inspected and an estimate for all work. Ron had Gideon, one of his mechanics, take me back home. Gideon was very nice, as were Ron and the lady at the front desk. Ron called me within a few hours and told me the situation. I pretty much figured the brakes needed replacement. He gave me the great news that only the front ones did. He said they had a special on the four wheel alignment. I thought their special of $69.99 was quite reasonable. He provided me an estimate for a total of under $425.00, so I told him to go ahead and do the work. He called me around 4:00 p.m. and told me my vehicle was ready, even though earlier, I saw they were extremely busy. He sent Gideon back to my house to pick me up so I could get my vehicle. I paid and took my vehicle home. I noted on the drive home there was no longer any notable shaking of the front end and that my brakes stopped on a dime. My wife, who mostly drives this vehicle, has tried it out for the past couple of days before me submitting input about this vendor. They did a quality job, possess exceptional customer service skills and I have finally found myself a permanent mechanic not too far from home! Thanks, Mid-Cities Service Center, for doing an exceptional job quickly (same day) for an exceptional price. For the first time in a very long time, I don't feel cheated and I am not dubious as to whether or not they actually performed the work they said they did. And, unlike past mechanics, they didn't come back to me with a list of "other things I needed to have done either now or in the near future" when I picked the vehicle up. They told me after they performed the work requested that the vehicle seems sound, in their opinion. And I now personally truly trust their opinion!

It was pretty fast and simple. I described the problem, the guy had a quick look and immediately diagnosed the brake problem and gave me a tentative quote. He also gave an educated guess on the check engine light based on the code given but said they would need to inspect it more thoroughly to know for sure what was wrong. It ended up just being a disconnected hose so an easy fix. The work was finished by the next day and I was charged the initial estimate for the brakes plus the $98 diagnostic fee bringing the total to $415. It's a little hard to swallow paying $98 for reattaching a hose, but I do understand that it's a flat diagnostic fee which includes tracking down the problem in the first place. A company's gotta make money and I'd rather pay them the fee than anyone else since this is my second time using them and they've been straight with me both times.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and reattached a loose hose, replaced rear brake cylinders, flushed brake fluid and cleaned all the parts that had been sprayed in brake fluid.

I found Tam at Mid-Cities Service Center to be a pleasure to work with just as previous reports to Angie's list have stated. She is very knowledgeable and keeps the customer informed as to the progress of the work. The mechanics produced a list of all discrepancies of the vehicle and allowed me to prioritize which items to have repaired/replaced. Additionally, Mid-Cities provided complimentary drop off and pickup service between the shop and my home which was much appreciated. I found all repairs to have been done professionally and promptly. I highly recommend Mid-Cities Service Center to anyone for their automotive service needs.

I was not happy that I was there for 2 hours thinking they were actually working on my brakes. We had our SUV inspection done there in May and it took them till September to actually get the codes to pass inspection. While I was sitting there for 2 hours I heard numerous phone calls to customers about their codes failing. That seems to be their big thing there. Could that many cars actually fail codes or is something wrong with their system?? I will not take my car back to them, they may do good work, can't say other than the inspection work I had done on our other vehicle which my husband was not pleased about. I do not believe they provide the customer the best way of handling maintenance on their vehicles during hard economic times. If I did everything they recommended on my vehicle, the cost would be astronomical. My car is very well taken care of, recommendations are generally followed, I carried my car to Denton to the mechanic who I generally use and trust. He said the brakes were 50% and did not need to be replaced at all. I asked him how I could get rid of the pulsating and he said they could turn the rotors and put new pads if it bothered me, so this is what I had done. Total cost $120 and my brakes are no longer pulsating. Everything else checked out fine on the car, no problems found. Back brakes did not need replacement.
Description of Work: I took my car in for inspection of Brakes as it was pulsating when the brake was applied at high speed. I also wanted them to perform a 32 point check-list on my AAA membership I have. I was quoted an estimate of $250. I waited for 2 hours and told my husband the quote and that I was having the work done.. I assumed they were actually doing the work but after 2 hours of waiting he comes in and gives me the estimate for the brake job of nearly $600; that both front and back brakes needed to be replaced since I only had 40% left on brakes, rotors were warped. The rest of the items he recommended replacing were expensive such as timing belt, radiator hoses, thermostat, water pump and several other items that should be replaced while they had the system open. Battery was failing load test and alternator tested weak. I was listening to the items of suggestions with concern until he said "my cabin filter was filthy" and needed to be replaced. I take care of my car, servicing it every 3-4K miles and when he said the filter should be replaced every 15K miles, and it has...and no way could it be filthy as It is checked every time I have the oil changed at 3-4K. Cabin filters are a big red flag for me and I knew this was not the place for me to have work done on my vehicle. Course all the things he said were just suggestions but the way they talk to you makes it sound imperative you should have the work done promptly. I like to do business with people who when they tell me something is not right I can depend on it not being right. Not slightly imperfect but that I need to actually do something about the situation.
