The worker performed the detail and it was done pretty well for the most part. He was very courteous and did ask me to take a look around and let him know if I saw anything he missed. I pointed out a couple of (what I thought were obvious) spots and he took care of them. I easily noticed one or two more but at that point decided that I could take care of them more quickly when I got home instead of taking more time to point them out. I rarely have detailing done, so maybe my expectations of a $99 detailing were too high--but I thought I would be a little more "wowed" for what I paid. I do know there were details addressed that my usual $30 car wash doesn't; it just didn't feel like $69 worth of extra "wow" factor. Again, maybe my expectations were too high.
Shortly after leaving, the worker called to let me know he accidentally left my iPhone earbuds in his truck. I do know it was a completely honest mistake, as they were in my cupholder and he would have to have moved them in order to clean it. In no way throughout the entire experience did I have any notion that he was a dishonest person. And again, he called me as soon as he realized what had happened. Now this is where it got a little more frustrating. In the same conversation, he said he would call me next time he had a detail to perform over in the same general part of town where mine was done. A week or two went by and I did not hear from him. I had his cell number on my caller ID because we had to talk back and forth several times to coordinate on the day I had the work done. I gave him a call and he said he had not had any jobs on my side of town but that hopefully he would have one soon and could swing by and drop them off then. I was not necessarily in any rush to get them back because I do not use them very often; however, they are Apple brand, came with my phone, and aren't cheap to replace. A couple more weeks went by and I had not heard from him. I called again and he said there had not been any jobs on my side of town for him to swing by and drop them off to me while nearby. I asked where they were located and said maybe I could just swing by when I had time and pick them up. He gave me the business address, which was several miles from my office and--since their M-F hours are the same hours I work M-F, I knew that getting there and back on a lunch break wouldn't be quick and easy. He said they were open a few hours on Saturdays and I said maybe I could stop by on a Saturday instead; however, he proceeded to tell me that he did not work on Saturdays so if I wanted to do that, I needed to call him the day before so that he could be sure to take them out of his truck and leave them in the shop for whomever was working Saturday morning to give me. So, what at first sounded like a fairly convenient alternative was not necessarily that convenient.
Several weeks passed and I gave up trying to figure out a week in which I could remember to call on Friday to pick them up the next day. I believe I called one more time and stated as such, to see if we could revert to the "drop them off the next time he is on my side of town" plan but was again told something to the effect of "there just haven't been any jobs over on my side of town". By that point, I was put out just thinking about trying to coordinate "here or there" and avoided the issue. Several months have since passed and I still don't have them back. Obviously, as I mentioned, I do not use them very often but the whole issue here is about principle. I know gas is expensive, but a single trip by the company early on and things would not be where they are now, about 8 months later. Angie's List has been reminding me for months to complete a review and I held off in hopes that Primetime would say to themselves "Hey, it's been a really long time and we still have this customer's property. Let's get this taken care of." That way I could spare myself about 5,000+ characters of typing and simply review the actual detailing itself. I finally decided to take the time and let my fellow Angie's List members know exactly where things stood and how the whole experience went down. I have no intention of ever using their services again and would not recommend them to any of my friends or family. And those who know me well know it takes a lot for me to get to that type of mindset because I try to be fair and give a company/person/situation the benefit of the doubt at least once. In this situation, I feel I gave it to them many, many times.
