 + -1 moreIt went great. Chris and a helper knocked it out really fast and professionally using high-quality materials and skill. Admittedly it wasn't the largest job in the world, but it's still MY project and the drywall component was very important because it had to be exactly. Chris misunderstood how I needed the outside edges of the tub done (which I believe was really my failure to communicate it well), but he came back at noon the next day to get it right with NO EXTRA CHARGE. In fact, when I answered the front door he had the spackle and float already in his hand ready to get 'er done! He also gave me some good tips on the painting what I had to do to get the texture to match the existing drywall.
Description of Work: Drywall replacement and repair in bathroom, including tub and shower surround for remodeling project.

 + -1 moreI called drywall specialists and Chris came out the next day. He called before he came by. He was extremely neat and tidy. He repaired the hole and textured the ceiling perfectly. He came back the next day to paint it after taking the broken pieces to match the paint. It turned out that the paint didn't match perfectly, so we went through the garage and found some paint left over from building the house. We found some that was the right color, but not the right texture, so Chris went out and had another gallon made of this color. He came back and finished the job, and now it is absolutely impossible to tell where the hole was. Unbelievable work! Also, he took it upon himself to fix a small hole in the wall left by a picture hanger. He filled it, textured it, and painted it for no fee at all. I kept offering to pay him more, but he wouldn't take anything more. I had some people at my house while he was here and they also commented how much of a perfectionist he was.
Description of Work: I slipped in the attic and put a leg through my ceiling.

 + -1 moreI called a few weeks before thanksgiving, he suggested I call after, he was jammed, and typically after Thanksgiving it slows down and could accommodate, I was further away than most clients. Called after and arranged for Thursday and Friday before Christmas. He came out was a little bit late on Thursday, but his assistant had a flat tire. They scheduled for 9:00am and showed at 9:30am. I showed him the garage, patches on the ceiling in the house and cracks I wanted repaired. They went to work wasting no time. In the garage they discovered the drywall was only nailed, so they screwed in to secure. This was the only surprise of the job, this work extended their time somewhat and added to the cost a bit. Original estimate 400 to 500. Next day he was hoping for an 8:00am start, traffic accident delay them until 10. They went to work right away again, and finished the job to my satisfaction. Would hire again.
Description of Work: Covered the taped seams of walls and ceiling in the garage to provide a smooth finish. In addition he finished the box where the water heater sits on. He also repaired finish around the attic door, and inside the house he repaired two ceiling areas in the living room where the builder had done a terrible job when warranty work was requested. Chris did an excellent job in the ceiling area making sure the areas he repaired looked just like the rest of the ceiling. And last but not least he repaired a few cracks with caulk. For the finish in the garage, I did not have them sand it to perfection, that would have taken more time, and for the garage, I could probably sand myself to my liking. One thing he did do, that I appreciated was that he spent some time screwing in the drywall in the garage, as it was all nailed in, and movement would have probably cracked the seams later on. After he was done the drywall was properly secured. He also made sure all the areas he worked on were clean.

Description of Work: We recently purchased a home and found several drywall issues that needed to be resolved before painting. Chris repaired a section of wall that had been wet due to a roof leak. He had to cut out the section, put in a new piece, and texture the section to match the wall. He also repaired a pencil thin crack in the ceiling and many large holes left from bolts used to hang heavy pictures.

 + -1 moreCalled Chris Golden to come out and give an estimate. He arrived on-time & gave an estimate in about 30 minutes. My wife and I were very happy with his bid, which was very reasonably priced. When he and Jeremy arrived to begin work, we were amazed at how clean, knowledgeable, and thorough their work was. Each morning they assessed, made a quick strategy, laid out tarps, and worked very hard all day long. When they left they took the days mess with them. They are both real craftsmen, and are proud of their work. I am pretty difficult to please, but I have to say their work was superb.
Description of Work: Repaired and floated approximately 50% of the house in a contemporary remodel. This involved digging out the original tape beds and re-floating for a smooth finish.

There was even a place in the kitchen where the molding did not reach the ceiling, and he was able to fix this for me. He was able to do work on several different things and had all the right tools to complete the work. We were very pleased with him and would hire him again in the future.

They did an excellent job: moved furniture to set up scaffolding, placed drop cloths where needed, cleaned up afterwords. And the workmanship of the actual work was excellent as well.
Description of Work: Repaired two spots of water-damaged ceiling, small cracks on 20'-foot tall ceiling in two spots, and nail heads in a bathroom. Then painted the lot to match the existing color (we supplied the paint).

 + -1 moreChris arrived at 9:30a, calling to apologize a few minutes prior for running a little behind schedule. When he arrived, he told me that he might have to reschedule the cathedral ceiling since another job had tied up the proper scaffold. Unfortunately, I have a tight travel schedule and wasn't happy to hear that the job would need to be rescheduled. I was very happy to learn later in the day that Chris had gotten his hands on an alternate and would be able to complete the job. He and his partner worked for over 10 hours and did a great job. The paint job is perfect, the repaired dry wall looks identical to the drywall around it and the guys stayed until almost 8:30p to make sure the job was completed in one day. The guys were very conscientious, draping everything and cleaning up behind them as they went. I'm completely satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: Chris and his partner repaired three areas in my home that were water damaged. One was a closet wall, one on a standard-height ceiling, and one on a cathedral ceiling. They also finished some painting that I had started years ago and had left unfinished because I couldn't reach the higher spots. One of these spots was in a steep stairway, the other near the cathedral ceiling damage. To reach these areas, they set up a a scaffold.

On her recommendation, I subscribed to Angie's List that day (Friday, 8.17.07). I selected Chris, contacted him, received an estimate of $80 - $100 site unseen, and scheduled the repair for 9:00 the very next morning. He arrived precisely at 9:00 am, was professional, courteous, cleaned the area, and charged me $80 for the repair. I would highly recommend him and, unlike many other contractors I've invited into my home, would feel comfortable in my husband's absence.

 + -1 moreI called them for a quote on Tuesday afternoon. They were out to give me the quote by Wednesday at noon. The price seemed very fair so I gave them the go ahead to do the work. The work was finished by Thursday morning and the quality of their work was very good. All contractors should be this professional. I will definitely use them again. They understand customer service where many contractors do not.
Description of Work: There was a leak in the roof and an approximately 4' x 4' section of drywall needed replaced. Also, there were about 10 - 15 drywall patches that were filled but needed textured.

 + -1 moreMy first impression was very good because I was able to talk to a person and not an answering machine when I called. They immediately set up an appointment to come to our home to give an estimate and then they showed up on time for the appointment. I am hard to reach by phone and they were able to communicate with me by e-mail even e-mailing the estimate. They were very flexible on scheduling the work around other work I was having done. The quality of their work is excellent. I was not home while they worked but they remembered to do even small repairs I pointed out to them on their first visit. They were very conscientious in covering areas with plastic and moving furniture back in place. I thought the price was very reasonable for all the work they did.
Description of Work: The "popcorn" was removed from the ceiling in our living room and entry hall. Drywall was installed on our fireplace wall which had previously been covered with a stone facing. Repairs were made to two other areas in our home with damaged drywall. They also sanded and touched up drywall where chair rail had been removed.

He explained in detail the work he would be doing and immediately informed me when the project grew a bit larger than we had planned (because he uncovered more drywall than we expected that needed replacing). I'm very pleased with the finished product - the parts of the repaired ceilings are indistinguishable from the rest. I was very impressed with him and have already hired him for a second job.

 + -1 moreWhen I called Chris he explained that with all the rain that had occurred in May-July that he was overbooked but would put me on his "queue", and that he would call me in advance when my job was near the top of the queue so that we could schedule. We continued to communicate via e-mail and phone. Chris answered every phone call I made to him. The first day Chris did the walk-through of the house and gave me the estimate. At that time I had the option to say, "No Thanks", or "Go Ahead". I chose the later. Chris and his assistant's work ethic was incredible. Chris worked the dual roles of craftsman and supervisor. Never was there a minute (other than lunch) that work was not being done. They were effective at containing dust created by sanding, and very detailed when cleaning up at the end of both days. I was extremely pleased by their punctuality, friendliness, open communications with me at every phase of the job and their craftsmanship. They are pros.
Description of Work: Chris and his assistant repaired drywall cracks caused by foundation problems and termite damage in seven rooms of our 30 yr. old house. For larger cracks, Chris skillfully cut out the old drywall or drywall tape and then artfully repaired the site with new tape and/or "mud". For smaller cracks caulk was used. For areas damaged by termites Chris cut out damaged sections of drywall and installed new drywall board. Chris' final step was to apply texture to the surface of all repairs. He did an excellent job of matching all the different wall textures. The work took two full days to complete.

 + 0 moreI was very pleased to find a person who was willing to come out to do this rather small job. He was a nice guy and the whole job took him about 2 hours. He even found a few chips in the ceiling I hadn't noticed and touched those up as well. The paint matches perfectly and the walls are smooth once again. I do not recall the price, but it was more than fair for quality and detailed work.
Description of Work: They repaired many small areas where there were holes in the drywall, or dents and then touched up the paint on the repaired areas.

He worked diligently, only stopping for a short lunch break and finished the work in less time than he estimated. He covered the furniture and carpeting well leaving virtually no mess at all. He cleaned up and removed his materials and equipment each day. He was courteous and polite and offered many choices of texture making sure I was happy with my decision. We will definitely use him again for projects we have planned in the future.
Description of Work: Chris prepped and textured the walls and ceilings in two rooms. The drywall had already been installed, taped and bedded but. Chris had to make the walls perfectly smooth then apply texture. One room was a new addition and the other was an existing bedroom.
