I contacted Chris requesting an estimate for a series of holes placed in my wall and ceiling by an AV installer the previous week. I sent him an email with a photo of the holes and he gave me a 'rough' estimate of $300 to repair the holes and match the texture on the surrounding walls and ceiling. I agreed to that price and he set a date for the repair. 'Dan' arrrived exactly as scheduled and immediately began work. He worked without taking a a lot of breaks or stopping to chat. He took about 15 minutes for lunch and got right back to work. The last 30 minutes or so, Chris arrived from another job and helped finish up the texture on the patches. It took about six hours from start to finish. Dan was very careful the entire time to cover the carpet and furniture and 'wall off' the work area with plastic to keep the dust down. He even vaccumed up before he left. The quality of the repairs was first rate, except for a slight color mismatch, ( I told them I planned to paint the room later and not to worry about painting the repair) I could NOT tell where the patches were. I ws very impressed with the job done. I would definitely use Drywall Repair Specialist in the future for any drywall repairs I need. In fact, I plan to have some additional work done early next year in other rooms and will definitely call them. Another pleasant surprise came when I received the bill for the work. It actually came to less than the $300 originally estimated. It was $270. Chris and Dan are an excellent team and it's obvious they know what they are doing when it comes to drywall repair. I'd recommend them to any of my friends or family.

Fantastic Chris gave me a very fair price and did an excellent job on the repair. The room had a lot of built in furniture so I was worried about splatter from the work getting on the furniture or the carpet. I have never seen a worker so careful to not get paint or texture on anything in the room. Chris had plastic covering everything!! Bottom line, not a single drop of paint or texture on anything and the results were fantastic!!
Description of Work: Had a water leak from my attic AC uinti that caused a portion of a bedroom ceilign to fall in. I replaced the shhetrock but needed an experienced repair man to tape and bed, re-tectured the celing, and repainted the ceiling.

Chris and Dan were a joy to work with. The quality of the work is excellent and they are very detail oriented and concientious. On-time, rarely took breaks, took care to not damage existing flooring/surrounding areas and cleaned up after both trips to my home. Phone calls returned promptly also. I would highly recommend them to all. Fair pricing and wonderful workmanship!

I called Chris and explained the repairs I needed done. He thought he could do it on Friday or Saturday and said he would call me back to let me know. It depended on how quickly he finished his current job. Two days later Chris called like he said he would, and set up an appointment for Saturday morning. He arrived promptly and was very friendly. He completed the repair I needed done and an additional one. His price was very reasonable and the walls look like new. I couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: He repaired a laundry room wall. A shelf had fallen down tearing the anchors out of the wall and leaving multiple holes. He also repaired the gouges in the wall where the shelf hit as it fell. He also replaced anchors in a wall used to hold a dog gate in place and then patched the walls.

Chris is amazing! His repairs are better than our builder's original work -- just wish I could have him re-do every inch of drywall in my house. Chris is a great guy. Very professional, conscientious, and quite the perfectionist! He is a delight to be around. Cannot recommend him highly enough.

I found Chris Golden on Angies list and was impressed with his reputation. I called him and he actually answered his phone (which might sound strange but can be an issue when trying to find someone to do small jobs). I described my problem and he gave a rough estimate of $200. We made an appointment for Saturday between 9:30 and 10:00. He arrived at my house right at 9:30 as we agreed. He revised his estimate to $150. He set to work immediately and finished within the time frame he had promised. His work was really, really good. I am an Architect so I know good work when I see it. I could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks Chris for a job well done, quickly and for a very reasonable price. I would recommend you to anyone.
Description of Work: I had a roof leak that has been fixed but the damage to my ceiling was still present and unsightly. An area of approximately 2 feet by 2 feet of drywall had to be replaced and refinished, as well as an adjacent header wall retextured. Also, a 6" diameter "teenager" hole in the wall had to be patched and the texture matched. He did both quickly and matched the surrounding textures perfectly.

Me: " You might want to reconsider your responses to the criticisms on Angie's list. I was impressed by your overall report, and was considering contacting you to re-drywall my house. After reading your responses to the customers, I was completely turned off to your company. A simple, not evasive explanation to defend your self would have sufficed. Your company comes across as being a potentially nasty entity to deal with in rough situations. You've already lost one customer with your angry defensiveness...a little humility will get you far in business." Chris' Response: "Thank you very much for your advice. Although I sincerely appreciate your feedback, I feel comfortable defending myself against what I perceive to be malevolent comments. I'm sure that in reading through our reviews, you were hard-pressed to find any that negatively reflected on the quality of our work. Most negative reviews are by people angered that they couldn't get a FREE estimate as quickly as they wanted it ( not actual customers of ours ). The only "rough situations" I have encountered in my 20+ years experience are customers who refuse payment and those who think our time is without value and expect us to work for free. I am fortunate to have the skills and talents to be in great demand and can avoid such customers. To conclude, we could have done your job better than 99% of all other drywall companies at a fairly competitive price. And you really should have used "yourself" instead of "your self". "Yourself" is a reflexive pronoun in which the receiver of the action is the same as the doer of said action. "Your self " is a special usage which refers to your own ego. That's just part of the attention to detail we bring to the job. " And part of the nastiness that is to be expected if any concerns from the customer might arise, I'm guessing. TRUE, I AM NOT AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER OF THIS COMPANY, BUT FOR GOOD REASON!!
Description of Work: Extremely unprofessional!! With as many other companies providing similar work, i would recommend avoiding this company! Below is a response I received from the company when I confronted them with my concern.

What this guy isn't disclosing is that, in addition to possessing poor grammar skills, he works for a competing business. He apparently needs to drum up some business to pay off his mounting legal bills and thinks that trying to discredit us will help. Notice that we had no actual dealings with this jerk. Please read our reviews from ACTUAL customers if you have questions about the quality of our work! And the next 5 customers who say "(Member Name) is a humorless jerk" will receive 10% off their total bill!

Overall we had a great experience with these guys! We bought a house that was built in 1962 and we totally changed up the kitchen, dining room and den area by gutting the entire area and redoing it. There was old paneling which was ripped out and no sheetrock behind it. The guys did a fantastic job with the sheetrock and the texturing at a reasonable price. They were great to be so agreeable as to work around our changing schedule of events.
Description of Work: They put up new sheetrock and finished it. The house had lots of old paneling and there was no sheetrock behind it. We took out walls and put up some new ones. They did all the sheetrock work and the work is outstanding! They were very easy to work with and came and went as needed to work around the electicians and wall changes. I plan to ask them to do some more work in another house that I have. I recommend these guys highly.

We're very happy!!! Small repair job (loose tape in 2 corners of room & small hole in wall) in our new (older) home that turned out to be a little bit bigger than expected . Turns out we had some very old termite damage to the wood behind the drywall and he repaired that as well. Looks great it looks great and was done in about two or three hours. Very professional and personable. Will definitely call again!!!!!! Highly recommend!!!

Dan came on time and was courteous. Made sure that the work dint cause debris to be scattered and padded the floors with cloth aswell so it wouldnt get dirty. Workmanship was excellent at a reasonable price. The floors were vacuumed after the job to leave the bathroom clean. I would use Dan again for sure!
Description of Work: Had a Paint bubble in the bathroom ceiling because of a leak from the roof. The work needed was to cut out the rotten drywall and make sure there wasnt any mold buildup and repair the dry wall and texturize it. The size was a 1x2 feet corner area on the roof.

First of all I want to say something to all the people who have posted negative reviews of Chris and Dan for not showing up at the drop of a hat and giving them the face to face customer service that they seem to want. YOU ARE IDIOTS! These guys are a team of one and sometimes two who actually DO the work. How in the heck do you people expect them to run around all over the metroplex and give estimate after estimate when they are busy working? It is 2011 people. Everyone has a camera on their phone for crying out loud. Take a freaking picture of the work, email it to them, describe the work, and let them make an estimate from there !! Here is what I did. I took detailed pictures of the work I needed done. I emailed them to Chris and described the work I needed done. I also discussed it with him over the phone. He looked at the work and said "About $400 or so". To that I said "When can you start?" I was amazed that he could do this much work for only $400+ dollars. I was excited. Well, Dan showed up exactly on time, and let me know that when his son Chris is swamped, he will off-load the job on Dan. Well, after I showed Dan what I needed done, he said okay, then he put his headphones on, and he got to work. He didn't goof around. He didn't waste my time talking. He got after it. He was a drywall repairing machine! He took about a day and a half to get the job finished. And when he was done, it looked AWESOME !!! I was floored by the quality of work at that price. Dan had to do "orange-peel" texturing in the garage, which is a very smooth texture that would not cover any flaws up, and the wall looks absolutely perfect. If I need anymore drywall or texturing work done, I will call them and use them. If they are too busy to get to me for awhile, I will wait. I cannot recommend them enough. If I could change one thing about Chris, I would ask him to get an email address that was easier to remember. His mindspring.com email is difficult to remember. I wish if he wanted to keep that email, he would get a more generic email, and have the mail forwarded to his mindspring account. But that is just me being picky. GREAT JOB GUYS! AWESOME!
Description of Work: I had two drywall repair jobs that I needed done. The first one was from water damage in the garage that was caused by a leaking bathtub drain. The damage was where the ceiling and wall met, and the water damage was from the ceiling down to about 5 feet below to the middle of the garage wall. The other damage was in the kitchen ceiling. I had stepped through the ceiling accidentally from the attic and created a 2 foot square hole. Also, there was minor water damage from that same bathtub leak that was widespread through out much of the kitchen ceiling. I needed the repair work in the kitchen to be good enough for me to faux finish the kitchen to match the walls.

Excellent! Will have Chris out in the future!
Description of Work: There was a fire in the townhouse complex that we have rental property. Fireman had poked a hole in the ceiling to make sure that fire hadn't spread throughout the complex. I called Chris on the 7th and he asked about how big the hole was, and he gave me an estimate of $100 - $150. We agreed to meet on 7/8 and once Chris got there he went straight to work. Took him about 45 minutes to an hour, and it looked like there was never a hole! He noticed another spot in the ceiling where there had been a water leak prior to new roof being put on... he cut that section out, and repaired it too! All for $100.... we couldn't just pay him $100 so we tipped him $25.... so I would highly recommend Chris. In fact my husband talked to him about doing some drywall repair work on our home. Thanks Chris! Great JOB! KLM

I thought the plug to the stove had fallen back into the wall, and since I wanted to replace the stove I thought it would be a good time to go ahead and get the box reattached and the drywall fixed. Plus, what with all the dry weather we've been having, bugs are coming into the house through the hole in the drywall. Dan came out and let me know that in fact there was no plug - that the stove was hard wired. If I wanted a box, it should be done before the drywall repair. But what about the bugs? So Dan suggested a temporary patch until I could get the electrician out, at which time I could call and have them make any permanent repairs. Sounded like a deal to me. Dan worked quickly and cleaned up after himself. I am very pleased with the work and will be calling again when the box is in, or for any other drywall work I need in the future.

I called Chris to schedule an appointment to get the work done. He called me back the same day and scheduled an appointment for the following morning. Dan arrived on time and began to work right away. He did a very good job on repairing the wall in the bedroom, under the bathroom sink, and the ceiling in our bedroom. He textured all the areas, also. I highly recommend this company. Dan did a great job at a great price!

I have lost count of the number of jobs Chris has performed for me and my family. He has remodeled a bathroom, replaced drywall after water damage, painted, rehung exterior doors and helped in the remodel of a kitchen. The last job was removing wallpaper and interior painting. I have total confidence in Chris. I never bother getting an estimate from Chris as he works without any breaks and charges a reasonable per hour rate. I would not hesitate to recommend Chris.

Chris & his partner Dave arrived on Wednesday & we decided the best option was to replace the entire garage ceiling. They removed the old ceiling & replace 13 sheets of drywall in a day & a half. They taped & bedded the new ceiling, removed the debris and everything looked great by midday Thursday. Great work at a fair price. Thanks Chris & Dave!
Description of Work: I had 30 year old two car garage with a drywall ceiling sagging and the nails popping from the rafters. My options were re-nail or replace. Contacted through Angie's List via e-mail. Received a call the next day and I asked for an estimate and scheduled a visit for 6/4. They arrived on-time and my wife walked him around the house showing him what needed to be repaired. He explained it was common and should not be a problem to fix. He said he would e-mail an estimate to us that evening or the next day. We have not received a response after waiting a week. If you are unwilling or unable to perform the work, be professional and tell your customer that! Update: Your sarcastic and condescending response speaks volume. In my business I follow up with customers to make sure they receive my communications, especially if it is for an order because I value my customers. Since phone calls are so inexpensive why didn't you call me to ensure I received your estimate? The e-mail was never received (perhaps you should double-check the address) and why would my wife have to give you the e-mail address when you already had it from the original referral e-mail through Angies's List? For anyone that uses this company be wary since he is lying about responding and then gets an attitude when his actions are called into the open. Notice that in all his responses to bad ratings, he consistently blames the customer or anyone except himself.

Thank you for the lesson in customer service. Allow me to return the favor by acquainting you with the laws concerning libel. If you defame a person in a public forum and hurt his ability to make a living, you had better be prepared to defend yourself in a court of law. So let's review the events that will land you in court soon enough : 1) I took time out of my Saturday to stop by and look at your job. I do not make it a practice of wasting time looking at jobs that I have no intention on bidding on. 2) I sent the estimate to you, at the email your wife gave me (ian@emian.com), on Sunday evening. To answer your question, your email was not included in your original request. And since the email did not come back to me as undeliverable, I assumed that you had received it. I assumed that you are a big boy and don't require babysitting. Sorry to be wrong. I will show the log from my ISP during the trial showing that I made an honest effort to send the estimate to you. 3) After less that a week, you couldn't wait to post a bad review calling me unprofessional. When I dared to explain myself, as is my right, you responded by calling me a liar. I take my reputation VERY seriously, especially here on Angie's List! I will defend myself to the fullest extent of the law. As for my "bad ratings", notice that none of them are about the quality of our work! Most of them are from people that had to have a free estimate and didn't want to wait for it. I go to great lengths to make all of my customers happy. Go ahead, look at our company ratings. There are 88 good ratings and 7 F's, all from people that we DIDN'T do work for! I have won the Angie's List Super Saver award five years in a row. Not bad for a liar, huh? In conclusion, I welcome any criticism of our work or treatment of our customers. But if you feel the need to defame and libel myself, or anybody just trying to make an honest living, then you had better be prepared to learn a rather costly lesson!

I called Chris (Drywall Repair Specialists) on a Tuesday morning told him what I needed done, he checked his schedule and returned phone call as promised. He was at my house first thing Wednesday morning and finished up the job on Thursday morning. Being a 30 year old house, he ran into some unexpected issues but got them resolved and completed the job as promised. I have also asked Chris to give me estimates on some other remodel work I need done. Not ever having met Chris and going solely on the ratings from his Angie's List customers, I was pleasantly surprised with this outcome from start to finish, considering my past experiences with other contractors following up and completing a task. I hope to use Chris again.

It’s just a couple of guys who are part of the company. It turned out fabulous and he was wonderful. He was here for 4 hours and did a great job. He was very responsive to my call. I actually called several people but I couldn’t get a call back I think because the job was rather small. He came out in a timely manner and was friendly, courteous and professional. His work was great and better than what my husband and I could have done. His price was really reasonable and I just felt like he was very fair with his work and his price. I have kept his card because he does other things also; so if we ever need anything, I would definitely call him.
Description of Work: I used Drywall Repair Specialists probably about 3 months ago. I had some shelving in an office we were doing and the shelving collapsed putting really large holes into our drywall; so he came out and repaired all the drywall for us. He also installed the shelving correctly and patched up the paint around the area.

Chris let me know that it would be the following week before he could come by, and I told him that was fine. I called Chris again on 5/19 to check on his schedule and left him a message. No call back. I called again on 5/24 to follow up. Chris answered and said at this time they didn't have time to go and give estimates. I told Chris I had called him on the 10th and he said he has several people on the wait list for estimates. I asked him to go ahead and take us off. I gave Drywall Repair Specialists a low score because Chris should have been up front with his schedule when I called him on 5/10, and then he didn't bother to call me back when I left a message on 5/19.
Description of Work: I called Drywall Repair Specialists on 5/10 and spoke with Chris. I asked if he could come by our location and give an estimate to replace around 60ft of sheetrock.

Response from Golden Home Improvement
As I recall, I initially gave this customer the choice between waiting for a free estimate or having us come out for an hourly rate. He said that he would prefer to wait for a free estimate. I then told him that it might be a few weeks before I had the free time and he said he didn't mind waiting. So after two weeks he called and I informed him that I was in the middle of doing four jobs simultaneously and didn't have any free time as of yet. I guess that must have raised his ire, because here I am defending a bad review. I received about 30 requests for estimates from you good people of Angie's List last week. I wish I could afford to do nothing but drive all over the DFW metroplex providing free estimates, but with gas at $3.75 per gallon I'd soon end up in the poorhouse! So please remember that a good contractor is usually very busy. Much like a popular restaurant - you might have to wait to be seated.

Chris called me with 24 hours after I emailed his company to come and give me a quote. Based on my information over the phone Chris gave me a rough estimate and I decided to schedule appointment for drywall repair. He arrived on time and was very nice to work with as my project expanded once he was here...I asked him how much more to patch the ceiling pre-wired speaker outlets as that we have never used them ( I had several outlets in three rooms) Chris only charged me $50.00 more and you can not tell where these outlets were!!! He cleaned up his work area when done, even gave me a estimate to remove my wallpaper and texture my kitchen walls for a another time. I plan to use his company again. Chris seems to enjoy his work and as a customer I really appreciate a skilled contractor who cares about getting a project done on time while not cutting corners. I only wish there were more contracts like Chris!!! <Thank you Chris & Drywall Specialists.>
Description of Work: I had several drywall repairs needed due to electrical switches being relocated and light fixtures relocated etc.
