Wonderful experience. The sales experience was low-pressure and very informative. You got the feeling Steve would have stayed all day if it helped us choose our floors. Then when we got the estimate, we were surprised that such great service came with a price that was competitive to any of the other estimates we got. The quality of the flooring they offered was high, and we could tell from our time in the showroom that the people at this company really know floors and offered useful advice. One of our floors was back ordered, but they communicated this quickly, so we didn't have a moment of wondering what was going on. The installers showed up on time every day. They worked insanely quickly, done in 3 days, even with some subfloor issues that we didn't anticipate. They even took care of little problems, like shaving off the bottoms off some of the doors because our floors were now higher. Nice guys, and very thorough and thoughtful.

Our floors in the kitchen do look slightly different but we are very pleased at how they really aimed to do the very best they could.

We are satisfied with the work that we have had done. Pre-installation, we appreciated that this contractor brought the hardwood samples to our house. This helped us select one that would go well with the current furniture and floor color. We also found that their pricing was fairly transparent for a flooring company. We bought a package that included installation of new baseboards, which they did a great job on, and we felt that our ~$6.50/sq ft charge was fair. While they were unable to even guess at how much we would have to pay to ?float? the floor (even it out after the carpet was removed), I requested they be conservative on their actual work and they honored my request. They only floated what was absolutely necessary. Both furniture moving and installation went smoothly. Our work crew (Joe?s crew) was very conscientious. They even offered, at the conclusion of their work, to help me by lifting the furniture so I could install felt feet on the pieces. Installation was dusty, as expected- we recognize that this is the nature of things. However, our air filters needed to be changed several times and the house deep-cleaned. Bear this in mind, future customers. We had one repair that needed to be made. They fixed it quickly and efficiently. We are completely satisfied.

It went great!!! The salesman that initially came out did a fantastic job of explaining our choices. The installation crew called the morning of the installation to let us know what time they would be arriving. They came in and moved our furniture, ripped up the carpet in a very short period of time. Once the carpet was up, it was determined that they would need to pour a floating compound to even out the concrete floor. The float compound had to dry so the 2 guys installing told us they would be back the next day. I asked what time they estimated they would be through the next day because I had an to be at work late on the 2nd day. The lead installer assured me that they would be finished in time. The next morning they showed up on time and even brought one extra guy to speed up the process so that I would not be late to work. I love picking companies off of Angie's list. No hassle and great work!! I would definitely recommend them again.

Horrible---From the beginning they were responsive giving an estimate and getting us on the schedule. They provided a generic written estimate which not cover nor take into account our specific needs and what are considered normal and customary in the flooring refinishing sector. To cover ourselves we emailed back and forth with the estimator/sales person to minimize any mistakes or misunderstandings. We wanted to make sure that the dust free method was used, our trim would be reused unless it broke during removal and other details. From the onset there issues. We were supposed to have the dust free method, their independent contractor workers, did not have that nor were they told. This took about 2 hours to resolve with us being into an awkward position with contractor and company. There was more than one worker sanding and making dust but only one machine. While they removed the drapes, they did not curtain off nor cover any windows, bannisters, walls, refrigerator, shelving and other areas. They covered the stove and other appliances in the kitchen In the middle of the job they removed all the plastic covering in the kitchen. The contractors said they would clean. The sales person said oh dust can get underneath it even if taped. (So why tape or cover anything) They did make a curtain only after told to block off the bedrooms. Two months after the job dust is in the walls and other small areas that wood dust can get into. Due to the huge amount of dust,after the workers "cleaned", there was about 1/4 inch inside a closet in a corner. Flooring Direct was told about the large amount of dust. They did send a maid out--it took about ten days for cleaning person to come out after Flooring Direct agreed. While waiting for the cleaning service we attempted to remove wood dust and do some cleaning. The maid they used, a contractor's wife, stood us up, no call no show. Even though it was a weekend, we left message for the installation manager on his cell that day and the office. We did not hear from anyone that Monday, a normal business for them and waiting until lunch Tuesday to give them a chance to call us. They did not, we explained that the cleaning person no call no showed and it took a couple more days to get her to come out. They used the same person that stood us up.As you can imagine she was not happy cleaning behind her husband and did not really want to be there. It took more time to get the flooring issues addressed after the initial work was done. We had issues as the correct time of trim was not ordered and the incorrect was installed. The following issues have never been resolved in part due to our being tired of having work being redone. Our main issues in having the work done and what the result were: The trim original to the house appears to have been stained but we have natural color wood trim. We wanted trim that was the same prior to redo. Nail punch holes in the stairs were to be covered---they still can be seen and most contractors prior to work said it could be done. We wanted the stairs rounded...they did a good job with that but they choose without telling to skip one step--too hard to access or do... Thenatural gaps, between wood slabs were to be filled in----after the initial work many were not done and they used some wood putty to fill in....the wood putty does not appear to have worked as there are many gaps. After, we signed off that everything was fine it was really that we were done dealing with it they ran our credit card without our authorization,that we had on file without asking us how we wanted the balance handled. After we complained about having run our credit card without authorization, The president did responded. Here are some of his comments. We never stalled or intentionally delayed any repair or service call." I am sorry you are less-than-satisfied with our performance. Based on what I have heard you have been, as you say, both accommodating and reasonable. At the same time, our commitment to you and all of our clientele is to work hard until we achieve a good result. It is not that we never make mistakes. Of course we do. The difference we offer is a promise to never stop working until we fulfill our end of the agreement we entered into before the work commenced. As a company and management team, after many return trips to address each concern you had, including the hiring of outside contractors to clean up dust and move furniture, we feel we have kept our end of that bargain. Had we been trying to be ?sneaky? we would have done so before the extra time, money and effort we expended to earn your satisfaction. So the long and short of our experience is that it seems okay to be stood up and to have to keep calling to make sure the job is finished. It appears that we should have nagged more and while our experience may not be typical Flooring Direct does not seem overly concerned in the fact the job took about seven weeks. We feel one can understand how things can go longer but how does one justify not expecting full use of a house for a week and it stretching to almost two months. Given our experience we feel refinishing a floor should only be done as a last resort and to have everything in writing and monitor the workers to see what is and is not being done. Thought not required, this company does advertise with Angie's List I asked for prior to paying them for the dustless system to be used. I asked this of every floor person that bid on the job. Thus they paid for it as requirement for my job. Even though it is commonplace some companies choose not to use it. I work from home so scheduling was not an issue. The dust free process abates more of the dust and two workers and only one dust free machine means dust all over. The maid was scheduled to show up on a Saturday morning at 830. Everything was scheduled with me making many accommodations throughout the process. I work from home and put off traveling so that this could be done. I can firmly say that for hardwood refinishing there should be a better company to deal with. I have not used them for any other service.

Both installers arrived at scheduled and performed excellent service. Very professional and polite . A credit to flooring direct.

They did a great job. There were two people to move furniture but one person did the work. It took about two days to complete. The workers were great. They left the area perfect. They showed up when they said they would.

They said they do not install flooring already purchased from someone else-so this deal was refunded as I already had flooring purchased.

Our overall experience was perfect, couldn?t have asked for anything to be improved. The price was right, superior quality, quick response, punctual. Everyone - from the sales rep, the scheduling department, the billing department, the installers - we dealt with was epitome of professionalism. Here is our story - we requested an appointment on a Saturday (via Flooring Direct website) for engineered wood floors (this is 11 days before Christmas) to be installed over our existing ceramic tile (which was an awful shade of aqua blue) in the kitchen and breakfast area. Their scheduling department called Monday morning and the rep was at our house Monday evening. The rep was knowledgeable, personable, a credit to his profession. The quote was a price we couldn?t resist (we thought it would be more money) so we placed the order. The product we ordered was in stock and that Wednesday (2 days after we met with the rep), their scheduling department called and got our job on the schedule for the next Monday (3 days before Christmas). That next Monday the installers arrived right on time. The attention to detail to everything from keeping the work area neat (and my house tidy) to getting an exact caulk line at the baseboards was perfect. Once the installers finished, we all walked through the and looked very closely to see if anything needed touching up. Everything was done right.. . the first time. It?s the little things, but I was most impressed by the install of the quarter round to the baseboards. . . such a good work. . .a testament to fine craftsmanship! When we need carpet (which we will in the next year), Flooring Direct will be the first place we call and we?ll ask for the rep we worked with on the flooring project.

We had a great experience with Carrol John's from the beginning to the final visit. We spoke with Michael and let him know our thoughts on what we were looking for in replacing the tile and carpet in most of our downstairs. Michael visited our house, bringing several samples that matched what we were thinking. He was very knowledgeable about the product, making recommendations on what product would do best with our 60 lb puppy and what would look best in our kitchen. After making our decision on what we wanted they were able to start the following week. The installation team were very friendly, polite and punctual. They were very careful as they installed with our furniture and kept everything as clean you could with this type of demolition. Upon completion they cleaned everything up making it easy to get everything set up again. We noticed a small flaw in the wood when we were putting the furniture back and contacted Michael. The installation crew came out the We have recommended Carrol John's to my parents and a co-worker, both used them and were very pleased with the service and product.

THE INSTALLATION “TEAM” WAS EXCELLENT. THERE WERE SOME COMMUNICATION ISSUES IN THAT THE SALESMAN WAS NOT AWARE THAT WOOD FLOORING CANNOT BE INSTALLED/GLUED STRAIGHT ON TO A STAINED CONCRETE FLOOR AND I WAS TOLD THAT WAS THE PROCESS AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE 2 DAYS TO INSTALL. WHEN THE INSTALLATION “TEAM” SHOWED UP ON THURSDAY MORNING THE FIRST THING THE FOREMAN SAID WAS “I CAN’T INSTALL THIS OVER A STAINED CONCRETE FLOOR. THE FLOOR NEEDS TO BE PRIMED OR GRINDED IN ORDER FOR THE GLUE TO ADHERE”. THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION AS TO COSTS BUT IT GOT WORKED OUT. THERE WAS SOME CONFUSION AS TO SOME LATER COSTS AS WELL. SO, MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO MAKE SURE THE PROCESS IS CORRECTLY DESCRIBED BEFORE STARTING…OTHERWISE, THERE COULD BE SOME HEADACHES. BUT, IN THE END, WE GOT A BEAUTIFUL FLOOR AND IF WE DECIDE TO TILE THE LAUNDRY AND DOWNSTAIRS BATHROOM, WE WILL CALL FLOORING DIRECT AGAIN.

I selected this company based on reviews from this site. The salesman was great. He was punctual, polite, and professional. The product is great quality and I was pleased with the price. I received a call after the purchase to let me know it was backordered and was given an approximate ship date. They called when it came in and installed a few days later. There were two installers. They were prompt and professional. I was very pleased and will not hesitate to recommend them to friends.

I like that he did what I asked him to. They did try to fix the subfloors which was good. They were on time and were professional. They did a good job on the floors.

It was pretty easy to schedule the appointment. They did a good job, were quick, and did the job with little impact to us. The floors look great.

In some ways it was really great, however, there were some communication issues with the carpet supplier. When they started the job, I let them know that I only wanted short-pile carpeting. At one point, the carpet supplier sent medium-pile carpeting. In the process between getting the correct carpeting installed there were some communication issues, but it could have been due to the carpet supplier. Flooring Direct by Carrol Johns was really good about giving me updates. The amount of work that they did to level my floor to install the vinyl was impressive. The carpet is high quality and it looks great.
