Well first off I must say that I appreciate all of Daryl and his worker's hard work. I think I got an incredible deal for the amount of work these guys did. I had just purchased my first house that I knew had electrical problems thanks to my detailed home inspection report from Reality Inspection Services (different Angie's List review). I was able to get most of the repair work/ safety issues covered in the cost of the house thanks to that report. I called Daryl about a week after getting the keys to the house and created a list of things that needed to be done. Daryl took the time to walk through the entire house and explain in detail what needed to be done on my punch list. My first priority was to have all items that were safety concerns addressed first and then have him write a seperate estimate for the items I wanted added or installed thinking that I would only be able to afford most of them. He spent about an hour and a half with me scoping out everything to make sure he included all of the work accurately in the estimate. Several days later he emailed me a detailed estimate exactly as I requested it (itemized for each job requested). I wanted everything brought up to code so there were no worries as far as whether or not the house has safe electric wiring. The estimate looked great and everything I wanted actually fit in my budget. I scheduled work for a week later. He showed up the first day solo and got to work right away prepping the work so that his team could come in the next day and do the things he couldnt do by himself. I have never seen someone work so hard, especially when he had to replace the electrical line coming to the house from the transformer (the second day of work). I had a tree fall on the electric line which damaged the pole on the roof going down to the meter. Daryl and his team relocated the pole because it was in an odd location in the first place. He put in a new pole and properly anchored it because the electrical line was fairly long and the pole would have alot of strain without the anchor line. This anchor line should have been on the old pole in the first place, but thats obviously not Daryl's fault, it was another electrician. On the same day as the electrical line replacement, he and his team (three guys total) ripped out my old and very dangerously overloaded Federal Pacific panel (please google federal pacific panels, they are ticking time bombs) and replaced it with a brand new Square D electrical panel with more circuits for items I will be adding later (hot tub to name a few items). They started work at 9:30 and didnt finish until everything was done so that the house had electricity that night. They finished at about 6:30pm or so. Daryl and his team got all of the work listed above done in 6 business days. While he and his team were working on things, they found other things wrong (rodent damage or improper wiring) and stopped to fix it and make sure it was right before going on to the next task. For example, daryl was working in the attic for a few hours on my living room lights and stumbled on some improper wiring for the kitchen. It was the hottest part of the day but he stayed up there to finish it and make it right. He stayed up there for almost 2 more hours more just to fix the kitchen. I appreciate his honesty in everything he did. He spent ALOT of time in my attic making things that were very wrong and making them right. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I have many other home improvement projects to do so I had to put our landscape lights on hold but when it comes time to do it, I will call him for sure. Plus Daryl took a van load of firewood off of my hands (my backyard had pieces of a tree that was chopped down years earlier but I didnt have a use for it since I had a gas fireplace). Thanks Daryl for all that you did!

The experience was very pleasant. See above description of the full story.
Description of Work: Daryl was very responsive to my request to review the project and give me a bid for the installation of canned lights, additional electrical outlets (1) and movement of several other electrical outlets. He personally came at the time agreed upon and was timely and very professional. He also had excellent suggestions for some things I did not think of. He quickly gave me a bid and communicated often and timely with my contractor. He and his team started the project on time and finished in what I consider an expeditious manner. He and his crew were very personable and courteous and cleaned up before leaving the site. I told him that I would be calling him to do additional electrical work in the near future and that I would highly recommend him to anyone who asked me for the name of an electrician. Thank you Angie's list for having him on your website.

Something that he took care of was not working properly. I called him back and told him that he needed to come back and look at it. He left a message saying that he could not tell me whether he would be charging me again and that it would depend on what the problem was. I was not home when I received that message. I left a message back saying that it should be under warranty, and that if he planned on charging me he need not bother coming back. I left a message saying that I wanted him to call me, but he never did. I never heard from him at all. He had a very high rating, but I wouldn't use him again because he wouldn't stand behind his work. The part that he put in is totally broke. I had to go and get a part from a fan store. He installed another fan and did really good work, but it's a shame that he didn't have enough business sense to correct a problem on something that he had just worked on. It wasn't very good customer service. I would've used him again and I would have recommended him to people had he followed up. I was very dissatisfied. His price was reasonable, but he just didn't stand behind his work.
Description of Work: I used Daryl Howard - Master Electrician to install a fan. He had once installed a fan for me and had done a fabulous job. I had an issue with another fan but he would not come back to fix it. My microwave kept tripping and he had to work on that also.

Overall, it was probably a fair price, but more than I had hoped to pay (especially given the estimate), but seems to be a job very well done. Didn't have any problems contacting Darrell and arrival for estimate and for work were both right on schedule.
Description of Work: I had ceiling fans and lights already installed on a patio pergola and needed a circuit installed in the breaker box to power them. I wanted the fan and lights wired to a switch panel I had made plus one outlet installed. I was given a verbal estimate of $300. The work done was excellent. The crew that did the work did a wonderful job of keeping conduit hidden and as unobtrusive as possible to our patio area. I was very unhappy when the crew gave me the bill that was very close to triple the estimate, but was considerably relieved when I later received a phone call from Darrell saying that he noticed the bill had gotten so high and was taking a good chunk of it off.

Daryl came over on the scheduled day and looked at the breaker box. He told me the ballpark figure of the work to be done but said he would email me an estimate. He did and I agreed that it was a very fair price. I choose the best day available for me the following week, he had an opening, and the appointment was scheduled. His partner and his helper showed up on the appointed day and did the work in a timely and friendly, professional manner. This is a company I will definitely use again if the need arises. Great communication, fair prices, quality work, and friendly owner/employees!
Description of Work: They changed out my old federal pacific breaker and put in a new one, along with putting a new grounding rod in to make it code compliant.

Our house was built in the early 50's and I had tried to some of the work myself to save some cash. However, the previous owners had butchered some of the wiring and I realized that the task was above my skill level. I set up an appointment after work to meet up and go over what I wanted done. Mr. Howard was not able to make the initial appointment because he was trying to restore power to a client's house that was out due to the snow storms that we had. Rescheduled for that Saturday. We discussed the work to be done and he emailed me a bid that I agreed to. The work was done the following Monday. I am extremely happy with the results. Price includes labor and materials.
Description of Work: add two non switched outlets through built in cabinets. reconnect/troubleshoot fixture that was not getting power. add pull chain switch to fluorescent fixture. repair power phases as they enter the house at the weatherhead. replace garage light fixture. replace two light fixtures in the kitchen .

I had called Daryl to have 3 light fixtures fixed. When his two guys arrived, they were very nice, very efficient and did what I needed them to do, including running to the hardware store to buy replacement parts. They also probably saved me from a house fire because on one of the fixtures, the connections were pretty "fried."
Description of Work: 3 ceiling light fixtures were not working for various reasons. They replaced parts and got them working again. They also changed a hard to reach light bulb on the outside of the house.

THE ONLY ELECTRICIAN YOU WILL EVER NEED - The only problem I can see with Daryl Howard, Master Electrician, is that his work and professionalism will soon make him so popular, he'll be too busy to take on new customers. First, I'm a stickler for promptness, neatness, competency and completion of a job on time and on budget...I got all of these from Daryl and his crew. All were focused on the job at hand. very quick and efficient. What was originally expected to take two days was completed in one! This is the real deal: promptness, neatness, competent, efficient, honest and great price. What else could you ask for? So, keep Daryl Howard, Master Electrician's number handy...but don't wait too long to call, because if the work he did for us is any indication, he'll soon be too busy for new customers! Thanks to you and your crew, Daryl. A great experience.
Description of Work: Installed four recessed and three recessed eyeball (spot) lights, installed dimmer switches to control new lighting; relocated existing light fixture in dining area; provided nail plates in garage; added cold water ground to main panel; repaired pre-existing can light issue; covered open junction boxes; cleaned up disposal wiring under kitchen sink.

Apointment was set for 2pm. The morning of the appointment, they called and asked if they could come early. I said yes. He arrived right on time. The workman was professional and efficient. I showed him the problem, he replaced one breaker and was gone. 30 minutes max. The only issue I have is he installed a used breaker, which he sold to us at a discounted price. However, my husband was later able to find the same breaker at Home Depot, NEW, for the same price he sold us the used breaker.

Overall it went very well. I contacted Daryl Howard and set up an appointment in order for him to take a look at the project. He showed up as scheduled and provided a time and material estimate. The work was scheduled and completed in less time than he had estimated. My project was a little different in that I had already done a lot of the work but was unable to finish it on my own in a timely manner. All of the work was performed safely and professionally. There may be less expensive contractors around but when it comes to electrical work, quality and knowledge are the most important factors. Daryl Howard is the master electrician

Called Daryl and left message. He called back by close of business the same day. He came out the following day (Friday) to assess the problem. Gave me his hourly rate, and told him I had one more estimate to get on Monday. Other company failed miserably to be a responsible business owner. Called Daryl back Monday morning and hired him. We set up for Thursday, July 8. We didn't connect unfortunately. My fault completely. We rescheduled for Tuesday the 13th. He arrived at 10am, figured out the problems, and went to pick up the switches I picked out. He was back within 30 minutes, and was done by 1:30p. I am completely satisfied. He is fantastic, and will hire him again for some other future work that will need to be done. He is MY electrician. Hire him... he knows what he is doing, and he is a nice guy, and very personable. You will be glad you did. Thank you Daryl!

Daryl and his assistant arrived when he said they would. They operated in a very professional fashion, completed the work in an organized and neat manner, and performed the project within the time frame that was set. Everything was installed to my expectations which is something many people do not do these days. Daryl knows the electrical code and follows it to keep his installations safe and functional. I would highly recommend Daryl for anyone needing electrical work and I will be calling him again in the near future for some more work that I need to have done. Thank you Daryl, see you soon.
Description of Work: New electrical service for new well pump and irrigation controller that included wiring from breaker panel to new irrigation controller location, buried conduit to well pump, submersible well pump wiring and all terminations. This is approximately the fourth time that I have used Daryl Howard's service. His associate Justin performed the work. Daryl responds promptly to calls. Although I have been home while the work has been completed I would have absolutely no problem leaving Justin here or leaving a key for him. I highly recommend Daryl Howard and his associates. I needed a ceiling fan installed in my downstairs living room which required running power for the electrical box to the middle of the ceiling. Mr. Howard came to look at things and gave an estimate, including explanations of anticipated problems. Well when they opened my ceiling up, they found it was full of these bizarre concrete blocks, and most electricians would have given up and cut giant chunks out of my ceiling's drywall, but Mr. Howard and his assistant worked around it and hung my ceiling fan perfectly without having to resort to that. And they laid down plastic and didn't make a mess at all. He arrived on time, was super nice and professional, and is obviously very experienced and knowledgeable. Would definitely hire again!
