I have attended several moving and estate sales managed by NexMov. The ladies are always very helpful and patient. They gladly take extra time to make sure you are satisfied with your purchases. I know the amount of hard work that is involved in setting up a move and holding a sale. These ladies have this down to a science. Everything is well organized and the workers can always let you know if and where anything you are interested in is located. I hope that they able to help me with my downsizing plans in the future.

Description of Work: I called Laurie at Nexmov to inquire either about an Estate Sale or their Clean Out service to prep my mother's (who had passed away last year) home for sale. Laurie arranged to meet me and my Realtor at my mother's home to look at all the stuff. Laurie was very upfront about the way their process works. We decided that if we did an estate sale, we might be able to cover Laurie's expenses and make a couple thousand of dollars, but the schedule was backed up and it would take months. Wanting a faster solution, we agreed that Laurie would arrange for the house to be cleared out, and she would sell the items on her own in exchange. This was very fair. She gave us time to get any thing that had sentimental value to us out before her crew began. | |When using these types of services, people need to understand there is a cost involved for Laurie (or whoever performs the service). They need to hire movers, rent trucks, transport the goods to their warehouse, sell the goods, etc. All this cost money. Sure, you could try and sell all your stuff on your own but it would take forever and you'll still be left with some items you can't sell. Laurie's company was perfect because it got us an empty, clean, ready-to-list house without any cost to me.

What would I have done without Nexmov! Laurie Johnson and her staff are so professional and caring. Everyone understood that this was a very stressful time for me and my husband and they were so caring and thoughtful before the move, during the move and after the move. My mother lived in an assisted living (which Laurie has moved her into the year before). When my mother needed more personal care because of her dementia, I called Laurie to assist me with this move. Dementia is one of those diseases that the person can be fine one day and then the next day they start doing things that can be harmful to them. That is what happened in my mother's case. My husband and I found a wonderful memory care facility to move my mother to - the only thing is that we needed to move in one afternoon so my mother would not know that she was having to move, which would have caused unneeded stress to her. I called Laurie and explained the situation and she meet with me that day. Laurie organized the move to occur the next afternoon. Laurie went to the new apartment and worked with the staff there to ensure that the move would not stress the other residents. She then took measurements of the room and organized my mother's furniture so she could take some of her most treasured pieces. Laurie and her staff handled everything - the move, the cleaning out of Mom's assisted apartment and the selling and donation of the reminder of the furniture, clothes and other items in the apartment. Laurie knew how stressful this was for my husband and I and she took care of everything on this end. This was a stressful time and Nexmov took over this part of the decision making for me. Laurie already knew where I liked to donate items because of the former move and she was excellent in suggesting other places that needed donations. When I saw my mother for the first time in the memory care facility and we went to her apartment, my mother said to me, "My apartment is just lovely. What wonderful person did all the decorating?" That was all I needed to hear and it just confirmed what a jewel Nexmov is. Laurie also called me the next week to see how I was doing which I greatly appreciated. I would recommend Laurie and her staff without any reservations. They do an excellent job with love and care. Their company is based on caring and not just on making a profit.
Description of Work: This was the 2nd time that Nexmov assisted me with moving my mother. This move was from an assisted living to a memory care facility. Nexmov also assisted me in 2013 from a move from a retirement apartment to the assisted living apartment.

Our elderly mother moved into a retirement home and contracted with NexMov to run an estate sale for items she could not take with her. The sale grossed 4800 dollars. My mother received ZERO, not one dollar. Several conversations with a co-owner ended the same way. After they deducted their fee and expenses there was nothing left for the owner of all the stuff they sold. Something is fundamentally wrong with this business model. If you intend to have an estate sale, be sure to ask questions about how they conduct business. They made money on my mother and she essentially "gave" her things away so they could. This was a devastating experience and one that has left the family feeling robbed.

Response from Nexmov LLC
It is correct that the gross sales totaled $4,800.00. This was due to there being far fewer items in the home when we arrived to prepare for the sale 8 business days before the sale began. To net a profit after expenses, gross sales have to be much higher than $4,800.00. After deducting all expenses an amount of $2,900.00 was left. Per our Agreement, we have a minimum guarantee of $3,500.00. Included in this amount is the option to allow NEXMOV pack up any items remaining, clear out the home and sweep and vacuum after the sale is over. Any items unwanted and remaining are delivered to the charity of the client’s choice. We return the charitable receipt to the client. Many estate sale companies walk away and leave the left overs for the client to deal with or charge them to clean up and remove them. This can be not only a burden but can cost the client substantially. We also guarantee that our client will never have to write us a check even in this circumstance when the minimum guarantee falls short. In all successful business models, a business must be profitable to stay in business. Here is our side of the story: On March 18th, I met with our client that I will refer to as “[member name removed]”. She explained to me as we walked through her home that some things would be going to her three daughters and some things would be moved to her new senior community apartment. At this time, she pointed out the items and furnishings that she knew her daughters would be taking. She stated that her daughters would be visiting soon to help her sort through everything and help her with what they would be taking and what she was taking to her new home. I sat with her and explained the details of an estate sale and how our process worked. I showed her a blank Agreement outlining all the terms and details we were discussing and told her I would leave it with her so she could take her time in reviewing and also give her the opportunity to have her family look at it as well. I told when she felt comfortable and was ready to precede I would come back and go over it again, answer any questions and then get her signature. She called me 10 days later and said she wanted to proceed with the sale. I made the appointment for March 31st to visit her. As with all appointments at the signing of Agreements, I always have a family member, or our client’s realtor or my business partner there to make sure everyone is on the same page. In this case, my business partner was present. Before we sat down to go over and sign the Agreement we conducted a thoroughly review of the items in the home by looking in closets, drawers and cabinets. My business partner and I agreed there appeared to be enough items to conduct the sale based on what “[member name removed]” had told us was going to be left to be in the sale. We then sat down and spent over an hour thoroughly going the Agreement, answering questions and getting “[member name removed]’” signatures. We then took pictures of all items that we had been told would be in the sale so advertising and marketing could be set up. We scheduled the date of April 15th to send our team in to begin the preparation. On April 15th, my business partner, Cheryl, went to “[member name removed]” residence along with one other individual on our team to begin set-up. Upon arriving, “[member name removed]” stated she was worried she would not have enough to have the sale as her daughters took more than she told us originally they would be taking. Cheryl called me and explained that there definitely was a lot less. I also found out through the company that moved her she stated to them the same concern. In cases, where the home as empty rooms are not enough items of interest we will ask for permission to bring in other items. We explained this and “[member name removed]” agreed for us to proceed. She frequented the house each day and we saw her displaying signs of emotionally being stressed with “letting go” of her home. After pricing some items that she felt was below what she wanted to sell them for we gave them to her. She also requested for us not to sell a solarium room filled with many beautiful potted plants. She wanted to leave them for her new buyers. This was another $400 taken away from our sales, but due to her emotional state we felt it was healthier decision to abide with her wishes. I had 2 phone conversations with “[member name removed]” son-in-law whom is an Attorney and then [member information removed], “[member name removed]” daughter. There was never an issue with us breaching the terms of the Agreement. We actually were very lenient and went out of way during the preparation and the sale to cater to our client, “[member name removed]”. It was stated to me that “[member name removed]” had wished she had just given everything away. I am not sure how that would have been a better alternative as she would have had to pay someone to pack everything and then dealt with many individuals coming and going. I truly wish “[member name removed]” and her family the best and speed her recovery from the emotional stress of moving from her home. Sincerely, Laurie Broesche-Johnson

The move went like clockwork, and everything they promised was dome in the time frame allotted. They moved additional items from the house under my direction a storage room with the same type of care. They moved each items as if they were moving their own. All do's and no don'ts with this company. Their "can-do attitude" is based on their competence and professionalism. I would definitely use them again, or recommend them if the time comes for any other family members need this type of service. They have well trained staff and the owners are caring and professional.
Description of Work: NEXMOV provided the moving and care of my mother's furnishings and clothing from her house to Independence Hill independent living apartment. they assisted my Mother in determine what furnishings would fit in the one bedroom apartment.. they took extra care with my mother's family pictures and antiques she wanted moved with her. They also set up the apartment in the most appropriate way to maximize the space provided. They also made the move as seamless as could be considering my Mother's leaving her home of over 20 years. They set up her items in such a way to make her feel at home as best as could be expected. They gave my Mother some real tender loving care of her and her "stuff". Super Job!!!

Nexmove did an amazing job. They were efficient, compassionate and followed through with every promise. The entire experience was painless which was paramount in regard to my parents fragile mental and emotional condition. I was free to stay with them during the transition, providing comfort and constant confirmation for my dad who has advanced dementia and was struggling to understand what was going on. I cant imagine how he would have processed this move if he had to watch me pack them up and unpack him - that would have been too much for him to handle. Thank you Nexmove for the superb service - it was worth every penny!
Description of Work: Nexmov moved my parents from an assisted living apartment in San Antonio to an assisted living apartment in eastland, Texas. My parents simply walked out of their home which was completely intact, rode with me to north Texas where they spent two nights with me. Nexmove came in and packed everything up - including taking the pictures off of the wall and emptying every drawer. They then drove everything to the new place and completely set up their new home. The following morning my mom and dad were able to walk into their new apartment with all of their furniture set up as closely as possible to where they were set up at the old apt. Even their bed was made and their clothes in the correct drawers! Not a single box remained to be unpacked. They were able to go from home to home.

The move went well if you asked the adult kids. We didn't have to make the decisions. If you asked our parents, the move and the weeding out process went too quickly. But we had to move quickly so they would not drag out the move. We were pleased with the results and would use NexMov again.
Description of Work: Laurie moved my parents from their home into an independent living apartment. They went through each room, the furniture, closets and kitchens to determine what they would need to move to downsize from a 2000 square foot home into a 1 bedroom, study apartment. She took the pressure off the family.

Although the furniture and items remaining in the home were old and in poor condition, NexMov still conducted an estate sale. After the sale NexMov completely removed all items in the house which were not sold at the sale. Clothing was given to charities and unusable items disposed at no cost to the mother/daughter. NexMov did a superb job and made it an easy job to prepare the home for sale. I highly recommend NexMov to anyone wanting to conduct an estate sale. The owners of NexMov were very caring and compassionate.
Description of Work: NexMov assisted an elderly friend with an estate sale for the household goods in her daughter's town house because the daughter had to be moved to an assisted living facility. Many of her daughter's good furniture was moved to the assisted living facility apartment.

She was going to come out to look at the items and got delayed and said she was going to come back out and never showed UPDATE 12/08/2013: I read the provider's response with interest. Since my review was given over the phone to an Angie's CSR, I want to clarify a few contrary facts: I began attending estate sales in an effort to understand the process and observe the various companies at work. I became acquainted with NexMov during a local estate sale they held on October 24-26. I spoke with Ms Johnson. She visited my home on 10/30/2013 at 3PM. I explained I wanted to sell all of the collectibles and antiques I'd collected in the past 30 years. I wanted to reclaim the LR/DR in order to celebrate the holidays. I have a table with 2 extensions and 8 chairs. I showed her my grandfather clock (she told me she sold one recently for $650), an antique rocker, and a tea serving cart with a pull out copper plate for hot dishes. All throughout the LR/DR I showed her my collectibles including some Roseville, Fenton, Westmoreland, Johnson Bros, Wood Bros, Fiesta, Goldinger, Quimper, depression glass and crystal. I also showed her a buffet, display end table and pointed to an Irish wedding bed (footboard/headboard) which was covered with a blanket . I took her to a spare bedroom that had 2 jewelry chests 4.5' high with drawers full of vintage jewelry, silver and bakelite. There was also a spare twin bed standing upright in that room along with a number of plastic and U-Haul wardrobe boxes full of my office and winter clothing. The dresser in the bedroom is a Widcomb dresser with a custom glass top, carvings and handpainted. The coordinating Widcomb mirror was in the LR/DR which is also carved and handpainted.. Laurie and I discussed consignment, selling online and garage sales. I advised I'd tried consignment but it took too long and yielded very little. I tried Craig's list and had some success but I had too much to list. We discussed garage sales and shared some negative experiences with those ventures. As involves her second visit, she was to bring her partner who was more experienced with antiques and collectibles. That was to be on ll-7 at 3PM. She called that morning at 9:33 AM to confirm. She called again at 2:18 PM to say they were running late. Laurie told me during this call that she was thinking of holding my estate sale on 2 days-- Friday and Saturday, 11-22 and 11-23. When she was here on 10/30 she said we should have it on a Thursday and Friday to facilitate customers that work during the week. Eventually, she called back and said they had gotten too busy and would not be coming that day since they were prepping for an estate sale that weekend. The fact that I relied on NextMov in good faith for a pre-holiday sale that didn't happen left me gravely disappointed. I will continue to vet other providers.

Response from Nexmov LLC
NEXMOV’s mission is about finding solutions to help those in need and turn no one away. We have services that assist senior adults with packing, moving, unpacking, estate sales and even clearing a home. We even help with challenges that may not deem profitable, but we do reserve the right to prioritize one over another. I am not sure why it is stated that this appointment was not made. I personally visited this individual and her husband in the home and spent about an hour with them. I also took many pictures of the items and rooms of the things she wanted to sell. She explained to me she had been clearing rooms, closets, cabinets and in general her overall home for the last couple of years and placing all unwanted items into her front two rooms, which were her formal dining and living room. She also stated they were not moving, but just trying to de-clutter and gain more space in the home. I explained, due to them and their physically challenged daughter living in the home it would logistically be impossible to do an estate sale. The rooms she had selected to be the holding area for the items she was selling was stuffed so full that there wasn’t even a safe walking path and there were many boxes throughout the room that would need to be unpacked. There was also an extra bedroom in the back of the house she wanted to liquidate. This room appeared as a cluttered storage room with an old mattress and box spring laid upright against the wall and a few pieces of old furniture of little value along with several bags and clothes piled in areas. She also took me into their master bedroom where she showed me a dresser she was using along with many boxes of shoes and purses in her closet she wanted to sell. I ask her if she had considered having a garage sale and she replied that they are not physically capable. And I would have to agree, it was a lot of stuff to stage, unpack, tag and price with no space to do it in. I also explained that if we conducted a garage sale for them that there was a huge risk of the sale not making enough to pay them anything after we were paid for our labor with preparing and conducting the sale. I also provided some other solutions such as contacting consignment stores but she was not interested. I explained to her that we would entertain trying to market and advertise her items and possibly a private sale or garage sale, but we had other obligations for the month of November and December and would have to arrange a time to come back as soon as our schedule permitted. There were no agreements or contracts signed and no services have yet to be performed. I left her my personal cell phone number and brochure and regret a call wasn't made to me first before making a negative comment about us.
