Legacy Landscape & Irrigation

We had a really good experience with this landscaper. Mr. Nutt came when he promised and spent an hour with me looking over the yard and listening to what I wanted done. He developed a plan and had it to me in 2 days, we did a small revision to the plan and agreed upon the price. He set a start date and told me a time frame, he and his guys worked hard for 2 days and did some extra stuff and finished as promised. We are completely satisfied with the result. The plants he used are lovely and look healthy. He did a wonderful job. I highly recommend Legacy Landscaping & Irrigation.

He did what he said he would do when he said he would do it.

40 year old sweet gum tree was cut down and carted away. Wood usable for firewood was cut and stacked. Stump was ground on removed tree and tree which had been cut down in 2011. All sawdust which could be removed was also carted away. Two red oak trees in the front yard were trimmed and debris was removed. A tree which I had selected from a wholesaler was picked up and planted. It was then staked, bermed and provided with a gator bag. The tasks were done over a two day period in a timely manner.

We had Brad out to do some repairs to our sprinkler system. What I had thought was the problem turned out to be just 2 sprinkler heads that needed to be replaced. Brad was punctual and got the job done quickly.

I had a non-functional sprinker system. About 6 months ago I paid another company almost $1,000 for 2 days of work trying to get the system functioning property, to no avail, but when they left, I could at least run 5 of the 6 stations (and had to manually operate the 6th). When even that stopped working, I called Brad at Legacy Landscape, and he replaced the control box--within 2 hours and for under $250, the system is totally functional again. Great guy, great price--I'll call Legacy from now on for anything to do with landscape or irrigation.

My initial conversation with Brad was very thorough and he scheduled a time to come to our home and look at our irrigation system. About a week later, he came to our home to connect the irrigation system to the well. After testing the system, Brad discovered we had some issues with the well producing enough water to water each zone. Our well driller informed us that this may be an issue so this was not a surprise to us. The following week, Brad came out and moved/added/replaced the needed sprinkler heads and made adjustments to our irrigation system control panel. Our irrigation system works perfectly now! Brad was professional, extremely thorough and probably the best irrigation system specialist we've ever worked with. He does work on the day promised and is easy to reach via phone. He takes time to answer your questions and explains things thoroughly. He is very friendly and works hard to do the best job while keeping expenses at a minimum. He could have easily charged us for a new control panel. Instead, he took the time to research our control panel and discovered it had what we needed to work with our well pump. This saved us about $250! I will most definitely hire Brad and his crew in the future! Highly impressed!

Our lawn died last summer due to neglect (a family member was hospitalized and while dealing with that we failed to water and maintain the lawn during the hottest part of the summer). Since the grass was going to need to be dug up and replaced anyway we decided to install a sprinkler system at the same time. We took three estimates on the job and all were about the same price, which tells me all three were giving me a fair price. Brad was able to work with us on the cost (and even provided two separate estimates, one with some additional things we wanted if they weren't too expensive and one with just the bare minimums of the job so that we could choose how much we wanted to spend). Brad came out and gave us an estimate very quickly after we contacted him and offered a lot of good feedback to us about our ideas and helped us pick out plants to meet our needs. Brad and his crew started on July 10th and were finished about three days later. They cleaned up nicely every evening before leaving, were all friendly and professional, and worked hard. There were no major problems after the job was completed though a few pieces of the sod didn't take well and died but Brad came back the next week to replace them and to evaluate the sprinkler system and adjust any areas that weren't getting as much water as they should be. I also want to point out that I was an extremely high-maintenance customer when it came to the privacy hedge. I was very picky about what plants I wanted to use (I think a lot of privacy hedges look ugly and I wanted something nice) and Brad was very patient. He sent me a long list of possible choices and included his opinion from best choice to worst and even included some photos. I'm really happy with the job he did and glad I picked him for it. He's been easy to contact with follow-up questions and I plan to use him again in the future for some work on the back yard.

Punctual (even a bit early!), professional, courteous, knowledgeable -- and willing to take the small repair job the first visit. The second visit turned out to hold some plumbing surprises (old, galvanized pipes that required extensive reworking) when they dug down to expose what was there so that the timer could be installed. Brad was cheerful and creative in dealing with it, going far beyond the effort that we thought the job would take. He got down and dirty to make the changes correctly in the old, old system. He set up the timer, showed us how to work it, and charged us fairly for both jobs. He will definitely remain on our list of "the man to call" when needed.

Overall everything went fine. I contacted Brad and he came to my property to give an estimate for the installation of the shrubs. Once I had the area ready for the shrub installation-which involved getting another company to remove an area of cement-I set up a date with Brad for the installation. I was in touch with Brad most of this time by email and he responded to my questions in a timely manner. A few days before the installation Brad advised me that the nursery, where he gets his shrubs, was out of the shrubs that I wanted to use. However, he also advised me that he would call around the DFW area until he found the shrubs that I wanted. Brad eventually located the shrubs and installed them on the planned day. When he got to my residence, we made a few adjustments to our plan which he adjusted without any problems. He and his crew went to work and they finished that same day. The shrubs look great and he advised me on how to care for them.

It was absolutely great! I called Legacy (Brad) after reading the reviews on Angie's List; this was also my first company to contact through this service. I left a message and he returned my call that day explaining up front that he was booked up for a couple of weeks, but after explaining what I needed he (a very small job), he said that he would try to make it out the next day. Well, sure enough he did and I was actually there to meet him and see him do the work. He was very prompt, profesional, and very personable. After he completed the job, at a very reasonable and fair price, I chatted with him about my front flower beds. He never tried to "sale" me on re-doing them, it was just an honest and earnest conversation about different things we did and things we could do if we wanted. Well, needless to say he is putting together an estimate for us and we will most definitely be doing future business with him.

We contracted with Brad Nutt of Legacy Landscape & irrigation to remove existing grass in front yard, till, grade, and install new grass sod. Job was to be done on 8 May. shortly before job was to be done Brad called, said he had a bigger job the week of 8 May and we would have to reschedule. He could not give us a firm date. We canceled and contracted with another company to install the grass. I would not consider Brad for another job nor could I recommend him as he is unreliable.

We recently moved into our home and agreed with another landscaping company that proclaimed to have a degree in horticulture. After several months of not showing up when they said or not doing what they promised and still billing, it became so overgrown in the beds, the sprinklers were never repaired as promised ect..., We received bids from others that weren't 1/2 as knowledgeable for a higher prices. Then we found Legacy on Angie List. We had seen Legacy's work in our previous neighborhood and we were impressed. We had to wait a few weeks for the appointment because they do such a good job they stay busy. They arrived as planned and they stayed on the job they didn't stop until it was finished. They landscaped, repaired the sprinkler system, laid stone in the water fall and repaired it, cut the trees back and were very knowledgeable answering all our questions. There isn't too much they can't do and they go the extra mile.

I obtained four bids from landscape contractors for partial redesign to help resolve some corner-lot problems. All the contractors were professional and courteous. However, I selected Brad Nutt's company, Legacy Landscaping. Brad Nutt was very patient with me as I expressed my thoughts and preferences. Afterwards, he would tell me the pros and cons of my ideas. What I appreciated most about my discussion with Brad was that he seemed to think past just agreeing with me, but would I be pleased with my choices months or years later. I was very pleased with Brad and his crew from the onset to the completion of the two day project. They demonstrated significant knowledge and skills and superior work ethics. I would enthusiastically recommend Brad to family, friends and neighbors.

I lost my grass in the drought last year. My once beautiful lawn was now a brown eyesore scattered with big, jagged weeds. Nothing could salvage it. In addition, I was unhappy with my landscaping and its lack of flowers. I was on a very tight budget and didn't know if I could afford to replace my sod and do extensive landscaping. I called four landscape companies and two called me back to make appointments. The first landscaper who reviewed my project was very nice and showed up on time. Unfortunately she was unable to give me a bid. She was very focused on the flowerbeds and the design she would do. She said she could not give me an estimate because she would need to figure out the design and what plants to include in the desIgn. I told her that I might be unable to do the flowerbeds and that my priority was the yard. She said she could not give me an estimate until I paid a deposit of $300. My budget was very tight and I was unwilling to give up $300 just to find out I'd be unable to afford the project. Brad Nutt from Legacy Landscape gave me an estimate of what it would cost to replace the sod and another estimate of the cost of removing the shrubs and cleaning out the flowerbeds. I decided I would buy my own plants to include in the flowerbeds, so I did not ask the landscapers to do any design work. The rate for Legacy Landscaping was very reasonable so I was able to do both projects. The men showed up on time and the work went fast. Within three days I had new sod and a blank canvas on which to build. During the process, Brad updated me on the progress and asked questions when things were unclear. He and his crew were great to work with. Brad gave me a few extras, like sod at the base of my magnolia tree, because he said it would look nice. I will definitely use them again.

I called Legacy not knowing what was wrong with my sprinkler system, I only knew I had a leak that I had repaired myself but didnt know the old pipe cracked an additional foot from where I had fixed it. Brad and his crew repaired the pipe then located a bad valve and updated it. I must say, I didn't ask the estimated cost, b/c of the reviews from Angies list. I was starting to wonder what it was going to set me back because Brad was out here a half day and had to buy parts. Once billed, I found his pricing was extremely fair. This man works hard, is fair and honest. He told me every step of the way what was wrong. I'd definitely use again.

Brad was great. Not only did he inspect and adjust the sprinkler system, he took the time to explain how it all worked and even gave me some landscaping tips. I was very pleased with his work and professionalism and am looking to call him for some additional work to be done.

Everything was great! They did excellent work and were as fast as lightning with the installation.

Brad came out to my mother's home earlier in the week (Tuesday) and listened to what I wanted to have done. I told him I was up against a Sunday deadline. He understood and provided the estimate that evening. Brad was able to fit us into his schedule and came out on Friday morning. He took out old borders around my mother's home and installed new borders (bend-a-board). He also added plants and flowers to the landscape as well as a rain sensor to the exiting sprinkler system. Brad and his associate were great to work with. The work was performed on my mother's behalf who is 75 years old. My mother had quite a few opinions of her own and would speak with Brad constantly. Brad was very patient with her and took her desires into consideration. The end result was a vast improvement to my mother's landscape and one she will be happy with come Spring! Legacy Landscape is the absolute best! Brad has been servicing my irrigation system for several years, including regular checkups and the installation of drip irrigation in my front beds. He is professional, hard working, punctual, and very trustworthy. I highly recommend him, and would not consider using anyone else.

We have just used them this year for the first time and we were very pleased with what they did in the front yard and that they worked very timely. They took all our bushes out, replanted, redesigned the whole front yard. We then decided we would have him take our bushes in the backyard as well and then we decided we would like a bid to put bushes back in, but he wasn’t forthcoming with the bid. He didn’t respond to that at all. But what he did, he did a nice job. He did what he said he would do. We were pleased with the work they did, but I have spoken with neighbors who had landscaping by other people and if they called them back to do another job that was smaller, they didn’t get any response out of them. It seems to be something a little more common in that field. Overall, I would give him a good rating. I was very pleased with what he did. The fact that after getting the amount of money that we gave him, that he didn’t even respond to give a bid to just get the plants and put them in, I don’t know how I would rate that. It just does not build good customer relations. We were disappointed that he didn’t even respond to the email for the bid. His price is good. When he came and gave us a bid, I would rate him high on responsiveness there but the fact that he just sort of dropped everything after he finished the front section of the yard and had him do a bid on the side, and then take out everything in the back along the fence line, but when it came to like wanting him to replant that area, he didn’t give any response on that. We had already paid him for the work he did do. He was excellent on punctuality. We would use him again if he responds.

Timing was essential - once the pool was taken out and the new raw dirt arrived, I couldn't wait weeks to have the landscaping and irrigation put in. Brad was very accommodating - he had to move the date out when the pool removal was delayed due to spring rains and then ended up coming a day earlier than the second date because we had severe storms predicted for the scheduled day. He was here supervising his crew for most of the 1.5 days of work. His workers were pleasant and friendly - I did not feel uneasy in their presence at all. They did the work I requested, plus a few other items that came up after he gave his estimate - spread a good sized pile of extra dirt left by the pool guy, lay some stepping stones in the new lawn, and move/carry a large planter for me. Even though this work was not included in the estimate, he charged me the original cost - which was greatly appreciated. The work took about as long as he had predicted. Brad and his crew cleaned up the area very well before they left. He left extensive instructions on how to care for the new grass and promised to come back the next week to check on the work. I had three estimates from different companies. Brad's estimate was about the same as one of them and significantly less than the third. Not only was the price reasonable, but he was the most thorough in measuring the area and talking to me about what I wanted (and what would best satisfy my needs). I was prepared to keep looking at other companies if I didn't like the first three I interviewed - which turned out to be not necessary. I am very pleased and would use Legacy again.

Overall Legacy came out on the date promised and discussed in detail what they could do to improve the conditions of our back yard and pool area. They started and finished as scheduled. We love our yard! Thanks Legacy
