Description of Work: Inconsistent cable and internet service, poor customer service (not sure they know what term means), long wait times when you call, I don’t really have anything positive to say about them.

So far, it's been good. I don't have any issues. They're nice to deal with. They're very polite and very helpful if I need help or if I have any issues. Another thing that I did lie about this company is that I didn't have to sign a two-year agreement with them. For me, that's a good thing.
Description of Work: I'm using Sudden Link for internet service. Two weeks ago, I called them about my bill.

I call Suddenlink a lot because of Internet problems. Last time I called I waited and waited and waited, a lady from VIrginia finally answered. I told her I am having issues with the internet again. After spending sometime giving them Name, phone number, address, and more she tells me she has to transfer me to Texas. I am on hold, waited, waited, waited, finally a lady comes on. I tell her my sad story, we are doing name, phonenumber, address, on and on. She tells me she can't find any record of my existence. After explaining for a while that it cannot be true, she finally asks me where I live. I told her Texas, come to find out she was in Arizona. So she transfers me and I waited, waited, waited, waited......finally someone comes on. I immediately ask her if she was in Texas and at last she was and after another 10 minutes finds my records, I actually did exist, she then tells me to unpluck the modem and the router even though I told her I already did it 3 times. So dutifully I shut off all computers, the router, unplucked the modem, then put all back together and it didn't work. She then tells me, I can't see your modem I have to sent someone to your house. So I said, "Ok, it needs to be right away, my daughter has to turn in her economy assignments by midnight". Unfortunately, she tells me everyone is already scheduled, they will be there by Monday. All my attempt to explain that I needed the internet were to no avail. So I left for a while, came back home in the evening and the Internet worked. The next day, Sunday afternoon, the internet is out again. I call Suddenlink and after waiting for 25 minutes and nobody answered I hung up. On Monday a repair person came by. He was very nice, unfortunately the Internet was working again by then, so there was nothing to do. Then two days later Suddenlink calls me up asking if I want to add their phone service. I told them no thank you, I don't want any phone I want my internet speed faster and no interruptions. The next day a lady calls me and wants to sell me phone service and a 30 Mg internet speed. After that I was just a little upset. This is just my latest sad story about Suddenlinks performance. I have many more.
Description of Work: Suddenlink has a monopoly in my area and they are taking advantage of it. There are 5 channels I watch occasionally and I am not given any choice to lower my bill by removing totally useless channels. Internet is always slow, even though I pay for the fastest available. I cannot use Satellite TV because of too many trees in my neighborhood or I would switch Television. The bill is getting higher and higher. There are no other cable companies in my area even though they tell me they would like to sell their service here and I cannot find out why. If you have a choice pick someone else.

I called to have Internet and cable installed in my new home. Previous homeowner had sudden link Internet and directtv. Was told technician would arrive between 2 and 4 on a Thursday evening. Upon arrival he indicates they couldn't "install" new outlets - I would need to get a contractor. He clearly was not equipped nor did he have sufficient time or materials to do all that had been represented he would do (Internet + 5 cable connections) so I just had him install cable internet in same place as previous homeowner. When I had initially made my appointment I was told that 4 cable installations were included but each extra was $20. When I received my bill they had charged me $20 extra for outlet installation. I called customer service and was on hold for 10 minutes and person said she would have to consult with billing. I called a number she have me and was on hold for another 10 minutes and told that to reverse the fee a technician would have to come out to verify and I woul have to be home for an 8 hour window! I indicated I worked and my kids needed transport to school so I couldn't commit to an 8 hour window but I remembered I had some time off for spring break so I will be able to here. But really for $20 they make their "customers" sit on hold for 20 minutes, basically accuse them of lying, and try to tie them down at home for an 8 hour window. I even asked the person on the phone to contact the contractor that did the install for verification, but that wouldn't do. If they didn't have a monopoly they would have been out of business long ago.

They aren't responsive or customer oriented!
Description of Work: I've had Suddenlink for home security for several years. I wanted to change to wireless. I contacted them and they quoted me a price that was 3 x as much as competiters. I told them if they could offer a competitive price, I'd stay with them. They declined. They did the same thing several years ago when I switched TV service because they weren't competitive. Then several months later they called begging me to come back and they'd match the price....too late! The Suddenlink security guy that came out to unhook mine spent the whole time telling me how great my new company was and that I'd be happy I switched...feeling pretty good about my decision after that!

Do not have Suddenlink come to your home if you are having false alarms or any other difficulties with your alarm. It can take up to a week to schedule a technician to come to your home. During that time, you are without an alarm! When they came to "fix" the faulty equipment, I was told I needed an upgrade to fix the problem. NO mention was made of any cost at that time. Later, I received a statement for that service, and it took 4 trips to the Kingwood office before it was resolved. DO NOT CALL SUDDENLINk on the phone! They will do nothing to resolve a problem. Always ask for an itemized statement. Be persistent and talk to someone in charge, if you can find someone in that position. After several trips to the Kingwood office, Suddenlink removed the charges for the upgrade to my alarm system, and I paid only for the smoke detectors.
Description of Work: Technician came to my home to fix my alarm system that was malfunctionig creating false alarms. He said I needed an upgrade to fix the problem. He installed the upgrade. In addition, I asked for two smoke detectors be installed. The alarm system continued to malfunction after he left. I received no written statement regarding any charge when he was at my home. He told me the price of the smoke detectors; however, the technician never indicated that an upgrade would be an additional charge. ALWAYS ask for an itemized statement when work is done in your home.
