Mr. Handyman of South Austin/Lakeway

I left a voice mail message and received a call back the same day. The entire job went very well and the technician, David, was excellent. He arrived on time and was knowledgeable, respectful and personable. He went to the nearby Home Depot and purchased the peg board and the boards for the installation, returned and went to work. He worked steadily until the work was done. After a couple of days a leak developed in one of the shower heads, so we called and received an apology and arrangements were made for David to return the next day to fix the leak. He arrived with a great attitude, an apology and fixed the problem. So all is well, and we will not hesitate to call them in the future.

They arrived promptly, listed all materials used on their invoice, charged exactly what they quoted based on a half day or full day. Ours was a full day repair because of underlying damage and roofing.

I called several drywall installers first, but they were busy and since I am very allergic to mold, I wanted the drywall removed and replaced quickly after the roof leak. Mr. Handyman sent a technician, David, who was very professional and knowledgeable out the next day. At my request ,he finished the job on the same day. It took several hours as the plaster over drywall had to be textured and dried in between coats. In the dead periods I had David paint some other areas of the house, install in new cover for the doorbell outside and do a few other odd jobs. I could probably gotten it done a little cheaper if I were willing to wait a couple of weeks, but I would not have gotten the other odd jobs done around the house too and speed was of the essence to me.

He was a nice guy, was able to come right away, his work was good but it was a bit pricey.

The gentleman did a good job but I was Quito One price and he try to charge another. I said I would only pay what I was told.

Exchanged messages with Mr Handyman and gave me the most informative and honest response of all providers contacted. As it turns out we need to hire a professional plumber. Instead of coming out and wasting our time he was upfront about this. +1. We will be hiring this person when we need some actual handy man work.

Overall experience was very good. The carpentry work that they did was done very well. Their carpentry work was done so precisely. He also did some roof work for us as well.

Following the no show of another handyman service, my wife contacted Gary and described our project. Since he was in the area, he said he'd come by that day to review the scope. He showed up within hours and spoke with my wife; she said he was very professional and courteous. The only question that was unresolved was whether painting would be necessary. Upon leaving he indicated we'd receive an estimate the next day. We emailed him that night that painting wouldn't be necessary... No estimate, no explaination, no further contact. It's not a very respectful, nor professional way of treating potential customers. If you don't want the job, say so and we part company on friendly terms. It's as if the reputation these tradesman create doesn't matter, there's plenty enough 'cattle' out there to make their living.

I was very happy with them. I was quite pleased with their work. Gary came out originally and I liked that he was very direct. I felt like he knew what he was doing. The job took more time in parts because the guy who actually did the work had to stop to get something from the store. I had to reschedule it, but it was done timely and he came right out the next day. He was very friendly and very professional. I didn't go to a lot of places, but they did quite a bit of work for me.

Mr Handyman of South Austin/Lakeway does a great job. We have used them many times in the past and have always had good experiences. They are always on time and the pricing is fair. Their professionalism and quality is excellent. I will 100% use Mr Handyman of South Austin/Lakeway again in the future.

Highly recommend! He was prompt, efficient, accurate and we were very pleased with his recommendation on where to install the new ceiling lights to maximize lighting within the garage in three locations. A+

He advised that the roof pitch was too steep and he wouldn't be able to do the work. He stated he didn't carry the type of insurance needed to do tie-downs that were needed to make the repair. He did a great job and was honest with us.

I called Mr. Handyman to get an estimate for issues noted with rotted wood from a home inspection that was done. I got a pretty quick response, not sure how fast but he was the 1st to respond and we setup an appt. He showed up on time and was very professional. We went over the home inspectors findings on the rotted wood, he got on roof to check chimney, checked wall, and garage door. He explained what he would be doing and how long it would take. He warned me that the chimney may be a bigger job because of the many pieces that were laid on top of each other that could fall apart as he took them off to get to the board that was damaged. And the garage door trim were several different size/type pieces. I didn't want to pay for custom made trim so I asked for the best he could do so that it wouldn't stick out from the rest of the trim. He assured me the paint could be matched: I'm not the original owner so I have no idea what the paint color is. I triple checked that he could do the job by a certain date since I wanted to put the house on the market by the weekend. He said it was a 1 day job and made me feel comfortable that he could match the paint. Because I was pressed for time, I didn't deal with any other handyman so I can't comment on the price but I'm very happy with the results. I was kept updated on when they would be there, they finished by the time promised, they cleaned up, they were careful with chimney and no extra work was needed, the garage trim blended in well, and the paint looked great!

The experience was positive. He was good. He cleaned up.

The project manager came out and gave the estimate and I was happy with him. The work was actually performed by 2 different individuals over the course of 2 or 3 different visits. The fist guy pressure washed the house and did an excellent job. He was quite a go-getter and I was happy with the work he performed. I had lots of problems with the second worker. Quite frankly I wouldn't use them again. He set the expectation that there wouldn't be any problem with the touch up matching the house and if I look closely I can see that the paint doesn't match. I have gone back to the paint manufacturer and they have basically told me that there is no way to match the paint. My only recourse is to repaint the entire house. At this point that touch up job is probably going to cost me $7-8,000 to fully rectify it. I called them after I talked to the paint company to see what we could do to rectify the problem and I left messages and they never called back. I would never use them again.

David was finished with handing the two items early and even gave us some help with a troubling DVD player. We were amazed at how skilled he was and how fast he took care of our tasks. we were very pleased and now know who to call on when we need a handyman!

David is wonderful - he has helped us previously and does a great job. He arrived on time, we went over the list of things to do and he started with the most difficult and time consuming project, which was hanging our screen door. Our doors aren't standard size, so he problem solved and figured out a great solution that looks and functions great. He always comes up with great solutions to problems and does a high quality job.

the repairs were made - the deck was to be sprayed washed - it wasn't not completely spray washed because Mr. Handyman himself rushed his employee to get the rented spray washer back to home depot (his was broken). Waited a couple of days for deck to dry and then his employee came out and started waterproofing over dust and mud on the deck. I brought it to his attention and he continued to put one layer over the surface. It was not professional and was dripping and running down the sides and debris was stuck to the wet surface. I call Mr. Handyman and he wasn't going to come out as he had a nose bleed. He did come out - sent his guy home and he left and was to come the next day to figure out how to fix the mess. I realized the next morning that as Mr. Handyman's worker had left the evening before that he had taken his tray of waterproofing and dumped it into my trash can. I was so disappointed in this company. I called Mr. Handyman's office the next morning and told them not to return. The quote was for $1400 and I paid $700 down and I will tell you I don't have a clue what I received for $700. It has been less than a year and there is no waterproofing on my deck and from the "so called" spray washing the wood is splintered. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

They showed up within one hour of my call, started the job right then, completed it within 3 hours. It was outstanding. The work was done perfectly and they even took care of a couple of other things they spotted that I had missed. This was a rental property and the tenants had just moved out. I would definitely use them again.

It was easy for him to remove a tile, and it only took about a minute or two. The harder part was cleaning the thinset mortar off of the cement slab. This was done with an electric tool and could be done fairly quickly. One good tile was chipped by him in the process, and had to be removed. The new tiles were cut to fit underneath door jambs and closer to the wall. My problem is that the tiles were not placed very well. They are uneven to my eye. To test this I took a sheet of paper and slid it all over the floor where the original tile existed, and it slid across fine. However, on the tiles that were installed, the paper hit the edge of the tile in some places, because it was sticking out too high. An excess of thinset mortar was probably used, because it is filling in the grout lines in some places, and this may have caused the tiles to be higher. In addition, the tiles are not aligned accurately. Even though he may have installed tile many times, it seems to me that there may be a few key tools, tips, or techniques that he is missing which would help him do a more accurate job. The tiles are installed "correctly" in that they won't break, but with a jobs like this, aesthetics is half of what you are paying for. It seems to me that it would only have required a little more attention to detail on what was probably the easiest part of this particular job.

We were very happy with the work they did. They did the work quickly, and I have no complaints. I rate them high overall.

I had several different jobs done by them. They could handle whatever I needed to get done and they handled it well. For a handyman service, they were pretty handy in all areas. They were knowledgeable and cleaned up. I will continue to use them in the future.

I was impressed with Gary's knowledge of how to do the job right. I felt David and David R. were thorough in their approach to painting a large expanse of cedar fence. Although I explained to Gary that the side fence was to be moved out and connected to the back fence, adding whatever fencing was needed, they proceeded to angle it in to match the current back fence line, so that the left side of the yard was not squared off with the back fence but at an angle. Unfortunately, I did not realize that he didn't understand what I was asking for until it was too late. I told him about the discrepancy, and he said it would have cost a lot more to have it done the was I asked. Considering that we lost two feet of land with his approach, it hardly seemed that it would have cost "a lot more" to have done it as requested. He did not offer any reduction in price for the error, as I would expect. I decided that the best course of action was to let it be as it is. It would have meant tearing out fence posts, etc. With this exception, I think they did a fine job and were conscientious in their approach. Based on the fact that I was quoted $2,200 to remove the back fence and install a wrought iron fence, I thought the price of $3,400 was high for moving and painting a cedar fence.

David was very professional and polite. He had to go to the store to buy a few materials for the job, and returned quickly. He carefully explained what needed to be done in each job, and then showed me the results. Gary runs a reliable and trustworthy business. Good work!
