First, we schedule an appointment about 2 weeks in advance to have my windshield replace. The appointment is a 2-4 hour window. During the appointment time (when they are supposed to be here), I get a call from Mobile Glass. They tell me that my windshield is no longer in stock at their warehouse. To keep my scheduled appointment, I either had to pay an extra $100 to rush a shipment or reschedule my appointment for 2 weeks.
I ask to speak with the manager/owner (Norman Newome), and I'm trying to work something out. I offered to split the difference of the $100, and he refused. I thought it was a reasonable offer, but that's not what is concerning. Not only did he refuse, but he then went on this bizarre tirade. He kept alluding to the fact that I was a woman and he knew how to run a business because he was a man. Then he asked: "After that, why don't we just get your husband down here so he can kick me in my b*lls!" I swear to you, that's not even the worst of it. I don't even feel comfortable typing everything he said because I intend for this review to be public.
As can be expected, I left a couple of negative reviews about my experience (on Yelp and on Facebook). Norman then sought out my reviews, and again began personally attacking me by insinuating that I was mentally ill and the doctor needed to "up my meds."
I realize my experience with Mobile Glass is incredibly bizarre, but you can look at Mobile Glass's Facebook page for verification. That's where I posted the review and Norman responded.I should also note that Mobile Glass offers discounts to people that post positive reviews, so please be wary of any positive review you see on Yelp or Facebook.
"Hey this person was quite a character. Before we actually had them on the schedule we realized what we were getting ourselves in to and avoided them altogether. Of course they turned out to be a Troll and tried to write negative reviews everywhere, but we have more reviews than any of our competition and almost every review is positive so they did nothing to harm us. We actually have received quite a few calls that turned out to be very satisfied customers whom mentioned they read this persons reviews and thought it was hilarious that we called them out and that they were obviously mentally impaired in some way. If you aren't getting bad reviews, you aren't making money."
"We DO NOT work directly with insurance companies. We process insurance claims by having the customer satisfy the payment with us and submit their receipt for full reimbursement from their insurance provider."
I still had the original invoice and I called and spoke with Norm. Norm was glad to get the windshield fixed (for free since it was their fault) and told me he would have someone at my place of employment on 03/29/2012 between 9am-1pm. So I made appointment and arrangements regarding my lunch with my work. I waited, waited, and waited. Finally at 1pm I called them to find out what was going on. I spoke with Norm again and he said it was his fault for not putting me on the schedule and apologized for it. At this point I was a little irritated because I had made all the necessary arrangements and had to re-configure my schedule to have them come out AGAIN.
Norm scheduled me for 03/30/2012 between 9-1pm again and I did the same thing. The same technician came out at 12:45p.m. This was in the timeframe that was stated to me so I went with it. I let the technician know that the whistling sound was coming from the passenger side of my windshield. He proceeded to ask me if water was coming in and I stated no but I also have a parking garage at my apartments so my car hardly ever gets rained on. He said that the seal would not have to be replaced on the side because if that was the case water would be coming in my car. I told him again where it was coming from and he just said he was going to fix the bottom part of my windshield. I told him that would not fix the problem and if the whistling is there when I go home at 5:30pm I would call them again on Saturday. Sure enough the whistling noise was still there when I started to drive home.
I called Norm again on Saturday and explained the situation. He asked me if I could bring my car to him on 04/04/2012 at 3pm. At this point I am severely frustrated/angry as I felt I should not have to take my car to them. The whole reason I called them to begin with was for the convenience. In order to get my windshield fixed I agreed to have my husband bring my vehicle to him at 3pm so he could have his technician there at the same time and they could figure out the problem. I explained to Norm my husband doesn't get out of work until 2pm. Norm stated that was fine and HE would call my husbands cell phone at noon on the day of the appointment to make sure my husband was going to be there at 3.
Wednesday 04/04/2012 comes....no phone call to my husband. We cant find the address to his shop because it is not online or on his invoice (which was my fault because I should have got that information when I made the appointment). I called 4 times to get someone to pick up the phone. Finally on the 4th time someone picked up. I asked to speak with Norm and I got him on the phone. At this point it is 3pm and since we did not know where to go we were late. He asked if we were coming and I told him we needed an address and asked if my husband could come quickly. I told him yes and my husband was there in 15 minutes. I went into a meeting at work and came out to find a message from my husband stating they were going to come out to my work AGAIN (4th time now) to fix my windshield. At this point I am livid. I call Norm and asked why my windshield wasn't fixed at that time. He said he couldn't keep his technician waiting on me so he sent him out on a job. I then asked him why he didn't call my husband at noon like he said he would to give him instructions and his excuse was that Dallas had a major hail storm and they have been busy. I told him that was not my problem. I explained to him he said he was going to do something and didn't do it. He acknowledged that. I also stated that I am being severely inconvenienced by the lack of communication by him and his staff. He stated he was not trying to get out of fixing my windshield and I pretty much had to take the appointment the next day. I stated to him I had appointments after 1030 and he needed to be there before that time. He said ok we will be there by 9am. I am like ok and I wait for the next day to come.
At 9am Steve (yes the same technician) comes by and finally replaces the windshield. He stated if I had a problem with the windshield if I could call him directly. I state that is fine and I go back to work. After I go back to my vehicle (after work) I see the shoddy job the man has done. I could see all the caulking and everything from the INSIDE OF MY CAR from the drivers side. I DID NOT CALL THEM AGAIN TO CLEAN IT UP. My windshield no longer whistled but the way it looks looked like I got clear plumbing caulk and just threw it up there. I finally just called another company to come and do it right. They were quick professional and even did it at a reduced cost for me since I had such a horrible experience.
So all in all it took multiple phone calls, 3 visits from the technician and 1 visit where I had to take my car to them and my car still looked horrible by the windshield. I would never recommend them to anyone of my colleagues or friends. I have a photos on my phone showing the caulk on my windshield. I just haven't figured out how to upload them. But as soon as I figure it out rest and believe I will.
"I honestly have no recollection of this customer. However, the idea that I did not do EXACTLY what I said I would do when I said I would do it is obviously not true. Anyone that knows me has already figured out that I'm part of the solution, not part of the problem. I suspect this customer had very poor coordination with our office which resulted in multiple visits and issues. Of course we make mistakes and from time to time there is wind noise or leaks with installs, however that is why we have a warranty and when we fail to make things right we refund your money and allow you to find someone who is better suited to help you. You can't satisfy every customer, but if you're nice and good looking life is still worth living!"
