Sun Painting was very prompt in their responsiveness and thorough in the preparation of the bid. Mark provided exactly what he promised and on time. We've run into issues on closing on this house since the estimate so we're holding off on this project at this time. I would have no problem calling them for an estimate in the future.

The 'deal' was for $1100, and after inspection the actual cost tripled. I admit my house is larger than many, but it left me feeling like the 'deal' was just advertisement and I suspect not many people get their houses painted for that price. They had to replace some wood, which affected the price but some of that was supposed to be included in the 'deal.' The painting itself seems to be of a reasonable quality and done well except for one thing that bugs me; I had a glass door on the garage that got painted over. It's basically a storage space over the garage and I don't go up there much so it took me a few weeks to notice it, but I'm thinking it was kind of lazy to just spray over all the glass. They could have asked me first. In the end I just decided it wasn't worth having them come back out to fix it. Otherwise I think it go a reasonable paint job for a reasonable price.

Response from Sun Painting Texas LLC
I'm sorry to hear that there was an item that we could have done a better job on. If this member had called, we could have cleaned up the window in just a few minutes. But he didn't and it looks like he really isn't that concerned. He did, in fact, have a large, Southlake house, very tall 2 story with lots of tricky areas. There were quite a few repairs as well. I believe the bid with the coupon was very fair. Without the coupon, we would have been a good bit higher. I try to be open about the price and scope of the job up front. If there were an issue with either, the member could have and probably should have and certainly would have gotten a refund before we started. He did receive a quality job from us. And if he reads this and would like us to come back for any reason, I would welcome his call Mark 817-929-1088

It went GREAT! Mark came out to bid the work. I felt comfortable because as we talked I found out he used to work for a major home builder and I used to know one of the men he had worked with at that company. After the experiences we had had having our home remodeled, I was nervous about hiring Anyone to do Anything! Painting was the next to the last job to finish on a long frustrating update to our house. I was gun shy and ready to torch the place when we finally were down to painting the house! So, you can imagine how great it felt to find a company that was serious about work and pleasing the customer! And this is exactly what I found in Mark's company! Sun Painting is AWESOME!! Our painting team of 3 men were all VERY nice, punctual, courteous and showed up on time every day. They came to WORK... with Top Quality paint and they carefully painted the crown molding, the raised molding, the doors, trim work, the walls, ceilings. They made the PINK walls go away! I could not find anything they didn't do correctly. Frankly, I was shocked! And very HAPPY! I had told Mark I wanted him to paint my mother's home, which is what delayed my review. After an illness and surgery she moved in with us and sold her home to a DIYer so we didn't have Mark/SunPainting paint her house, but we would have. As I was wrestling with some of Mom's boxes still unpacked in the garage today, I remembered I had not left feedback and that is why this review is late getting posted. Thank you Mark and your great Team for an Excellent Job!!

I really like the work that Sun Painting did for me. The timing took a little longer than expected do to materials issues, a traffic accident the crew got caught up in the back-up of and one day that it was misting rain leading to a late start...all things out of control of the crew. The only thing I had to left in question is a section of items listed for replacement were soffits & fascia board...according to the crew chief it means only the bad sections will be cut out and replaced with new wood and not the entire soffit board and fascia board. After the sections were cut and replaced they were trimmed out and made pretty much seamless. As the old saying goes "The devil is in the details". I was not able to see the completed work on the last day they were at my house. After finding a few things that needed touch ups and completing I sent an email with pictures and called the office the next day. The crew meet me after I got home from work that day and completed the oversights and corrected the issues I found without question. Mark and his team back their work and are all professional and nice to work with.
Description of Work: Repaired and replaced rotted soffit, fascia & drip edge with new wood. Scraped down, primed and painted all wood sections of my house including two back doors, replaced garage jamb and took out old rusted wrought iron roof supports replacing them with 6 inch wooden columns.

After they painted what they painted we decided to hire them to paint some more. They took the money and didn't paint anymore. We bought the coupon and they went over and they painted what they could. Then, some of the employees offered to paint for a little bit cheaper. We accepted the offer and we paid them but then they didn't stay and do anything, they just took our money. That was the only bad experience I had with that.

This review was for work performed almost 5 years ago. The coupon was for a set amount of hours. It looks like the member was satisfied with our work. Instead of hiring us to finish up whatever it was we were doing (I don't have records readily available from that far back), he hired our guys to work for him directly. Aside from the ethical question this raises, it definitely points out the pitfalls of using unsupervised laborers, even guys who are working for a legit company. There is never any accountability. I wish that I had known about this five years ago! There would definitely have been some 'splainin to do when the guys got back to the office!!! And we probably could have helped this member out Mark

The tradesmen appeared when scheduled and worked full days as needed to complete the work. Our paint color was as selected. Where color matching was needed the match was perfect. Unused paint was left for our use on other walls and ceilings. Exterior paint will be needed for touchup when an exterminator contractor vermin proof's the attic and garage.

Sun painting was really responsive from the moment I called until the job was done. Met with Mark for a quote within a couple of days of my initial call. Received the quote within 2 days and they were able to start on Monday. We basically went from call to completed in 8 days. Crew of 4 men took 2 days to complete. They removed all electric plates, blinds, air duct covers and dropped the ceiling fixture covers - which is awesome. Moved here from Chicago and after having multiple painters there, they never did any of this - only painted around everything, so I was most impressed (perhaps it is customary here but it was a big deal for me that they did this) and of course replaced everything upon completion. The guys worked non-stop from start to finish, were polite and Dario was patient with my elderly mom who was home at the time they completed the work. 100% recommend Mark and his team. I will definitely call them again. Outstanding work and now I'm so happy to come home to my brand new house with beautiful paint and that 'builder's beige' is gone! Thank you!

They were a bit late on the first day due to an accident and traffic. The guys that did the repairs were polite and very considerate. They did a great job and were very focused on detail. The job took an extra day but that was just a misunderstanding of the quoted work and they worked on Christmas Eve to finish the exterior painting. Great job! I will be calling them again soon.

Owner came to the house after I had called and discussed the job - I bought an Angie's list deal to help save some money - discussed the fact that the house was going on the market and I needed it completely painted inside and out. He explained that the deal I bought only covered a small part of the job and gave me a quote for the rest that was thousands less than competing bids I had gotten. Once the job was in progress I was told ceilings are an additional cost - Paid it. Then doors were an additional cost - paid it - then the back sides of doors are not included in the bid he gave me to paint doors. Closets are not included - elected not to have the closets painted. Apparently the laundry room is a closet, because they didn't paint that either. Half the wallplates / switch covers were missing screws - the GFCI stickered outlet covers were all over the house rather than back by the sinks. Paint drips everywhere. They used the upstairs tub to clean their equipment and filled the drain with paint. My flooring guy Steve Oddo was the saving grace on repainting the areas that needed it and cleaning up after these folks. After expressing my concerns and the nickel and dime-ing the owner came down to the previous lowest bid on price. Buyer beware - get the entire job in writing and be aware if it is not in writing - it's gonna cost you more.

Response from Sun Painting Texas LLC
This is a very frustrating review for two reasons. First, I visited the site and I gave this member a short but detailed contract for the inside walls and a separate contract for the outside. The inside contract stated "We will paint the walls in the house" "Walls have 4214 square feet of paintable surface. The coupon covers 2500 square feet so 1714 feet are not covered" "total for extras, inside $943" (1714 x $.55) He then purchased our inside coupon and sent back a signed copy of the inside contract along with the deposit. When we were done with the outside and almost done with the inside, he called the office and asked why we were not doing the ceilings. They were not included in the WRITTEN contract. I really don't know how I could be more clear. We gave him a contract to paint the walls. No mention of the ceilings. Apparently, he thought that walls meant walls and ceilings. It doesn't. So we sent him a change order, in writing, detailing the cost of the ceilings. He signed the change order and we finished up the ceilings. The exact thing happened with the trim and closets. They were not mentioned in writing nor were they ever talked about. Again, we sent him a change order which he approved. I would refer to the final sentence of this member's review. Get it in writing. I would add one thing, though. Read what's written in the contract. It's very straight forward. 5 sentences or less. If any questions arise, make sure we answer them before starting. The second area of frustration here is the timing which led to other issues. We finished the walls prior to the wood floor guy starting, per the schedule. Because of the additional work we had to perform, we ended up working into the flooring guy's time. The member was tied to this schedule so we ended up painting the trim and the ceilings while the wood floor guy was busting out the old tile and demo'ing the floors and actually starting his install. This is far from a perfect environment for painting. I'm sure that there were some issues. We spent much extra time cleaning concrete dust, saw dust, and trash as well as trying to work with a house full of floor installers. When we finished, we really couldn't perform our usual clean up. Because the floor guy was there after we had completed our work (final finish is usually several days after the floors are stained), I'm sure he chad to clean up after us, as we would have if we were there after he left. I really don't feel that there was any ill intent from this member, just misunderstanding the whole process. In the end, I gave him another 20% discount on the whole job. Ultimately, it cost him $7000. That's painting all areas of a 2500 square foot two story house (app), base, doors, closets, walls, ceiling, all drywall repairs, wood repairs on the outside, and painting all areas of the outside. This was well within his budget. I'm glad we could help with that If we had known the scope of the job up front, the cost would have been the same, but the timing of the work and the continuous frustration by my office and this member could have been avoided. I would suggest to any Angie's List member who is reading this to get all agreements in writing. Be sure to understand the scope. Sun Painting is committed to satisfying our customers. As the owner and the head estimator, I may not always communicate everything as clearly as I should. but I am always going to listen. I will always follow up any questions in writing. Thanks, Mark

It was a horrible experience and a major waste of time. I ordered the $1199 paint package that covers 1600 square feet of exterior. I paid for it in full on September 30th. I received an automated e-mail advising me to call the office to schedule an estimate. I called and the earliest they could come out was October 26th at 10 am. Mark Bozio shows up around 10:30 am on the 26th. He seemed like a nice guy. He walked around the house, wrote some notes and told me he would e-mail me an estimate. The whole process took maybe 15 minutes. He sent an estimate on the next day. I e-mailed back the same day with a few cost related questions. Questions were answered over the next couple of days and I signed the agreement on October 31st. On November 3rd I get an e-mail stating that Sun Painting will wait for me to call the office so that they can collect the 50% of "their" charges??? I called the office...no answer. I called Mark's cell phone and left a message asking him to call me and explain how I had not already met their 50% deposit requirement. The total job was $1614. I paid $1199 for the package...that's roughly a 75% deposit. He never called back. I followed with an e-mail expressing my disappointment. I told Mark via e-mail that if more money was required to get started because of the $415 worth of extra work I requested, that he should remove the extra work and just schedule the coupon work. He sent a message back suggesting that I request a refund from Angie's List. ??? 30 days has already past as it took 3 weeks just to get them to come out and do an estimate. The whole thing was absolutely bazaar. A phone call from Mark explaining why additional monies were required probably could have resolved the whole thing. It was not until I spoke with one of the Angie's List concierge team members that anything was explained. It was a time wasting experience that from my vantage was completely unnecessary. Life has enough hurdles for one to overcome...who needs additional ones?
Description of Work: The planned work was painting 1487 square feet of exterior trim ($1199) and repairing and painting a stucco mailbox ($415). The work was not performed.

Our office spoke with this member many times. His statement that he didn't speak with us is inaccurate. He has a very large 2 storyhouse, all stucco with two back porches and several doors to paint, including 2, 10 foot steel mansion front doors. He only wanted the trim on the second story painted. Very tricky but less than 1600 so we will paint it. He first wanted to know how many square feet I had measured. When he discovered I had measured less than 1600, he wanted a partial refund. This was an enormous, money loosing job for us and he wanted a refund! Next, he wouldn't give a deposit. It's our policy and we have very good reasons for that policy. I have a long list of Angie's List members who decided that they had already paid for all work when they bought the coupon, even with a signed contract from us to the contrary. Angie's List doesn't do anything to help us. I really wouldn't expect them to. They handle the coupon. We handle the extra work. I emailed him trying to explain our policy. Our office called and spoke with him several times. He was very trying and I finally suggested in email that he should get a refund from Angies List which he did, no problems. I am not a big fan of the coupon model at Angies List. We have met some great customers over the years, true enough. Actually, most of the 500 or so of these deals I have sold have gone great. But if there is ever going to be a problem customer, it will be when we run a deal. What's missing is a chance for us to meet with a potential customer and get a feel for each other. The deal might not be a good fit and I would much rather find that out after a friendly meeting than after money has been paid. I hope this member finds a cheap enough deal with another company to make him happy. We were not it

They were responsive within a couple of days. The painting went relatively well, although there were several oversprays that could have been avoided. My impression was that they were moving at flank speed to get the thing done, and they did complete the job adequately. The price was excellent; the quality was OK. They neglected to reposition our high soffit light bulbs and left them on the ground near one of our front trees. However, they did come back and restore them to their appropriate positions.

My experience with Sun Painting was short-lived and bizarre. That's why I decided to write this review. Others have written of great experiences with this company, but I'm at a loss as to why my experience turned out the way it did. The owner of Sun Painting arrived on time to see my house and prepare estimate for painting the interior and exterior. He is charismatic and comes across informed and enthusiastic. He said he would email the estimates to me in two days. I confirmed my email address for him. While we did the tour, we discussed work needed but that we were looking to spruce up the look w/o doing a total repaint. He said that he could do that otherwise repainting the entire outside would cost $40,000. We were floored by that comment and asked for clarification. He explained. In my mind I'm thinking wait a second. My house is 3800 sq ft and two story. There is nothing about that that says $40,000 paint job to me. I never received the estimate, though I did call and ask for it after he missed his promise date. I hired another company. We started and finished the exterior painting work with another company last week (Nov 18-20, 2015). Clearly I hired the right company for the job. Anyway, Sun Painting sent me a follow-up email thanking me for requesting their estimate. There was no estimate attached to the email and I hadn't ever received their estimate, so I replied to the email and explained that I never received their estimate and I hired another company. So they sent a reply thanking me for that. That is just bizarre. I'm so glad I didn't hire them.

I'm sorry we missed the opportunity to work for this member. I emailed them our estimate the day after I saw them. I was unaware of the later communications with my office, but it appears that my staff may not have attached my original email to the response they sent. It appears to be just a clerical error. As to the ball park figure, it was just a ball park. This house is in Preston hollow, about 3 blocks from Mark Cubans. The whole house plus the 2000 foot guest house needed painted, including brick. I had not done an estimate of the entire property, just a few areas. The brick was badly deteriorated and two of the huge fireplace chases had already been rebuilt. Knowing this and the condition of the rest of the houses and brick fence, I broke my own rule and gave them a guess. Hopefully, I will follow my own rules from now on. I'm glad these folks were able to get the work done. I apologize for our miscues Mark

When this exterior paint job was paid for up-front (9/28/2015) the office told us that they would come out to estimate the week after next and painting would follow the week after. The office has repeatedly changed/rescheduled from the best dry days to paint, to the worst days - when it is FORECAST TO RAIN! We tried repeatedly to work with them, but to no avail. We were repeatedly assured by the office staff that they would get the job done promptly. But we always got pushed aside. For example, we were scheduled on Friday 11/13/2015 which was a perfectly sunny day. They called us and stated that they would not be able to come because of the rain. However, that day was forecast to be a sunny dry day. I asked "What do you mean, what rain?" and they finally came clean and stated that they had to give our day away to someone else because they were rained out. I called them today and stated that this repeated stalling tactic week after week has now become unacceptable. So I stated the house must be painted tomorrow 11/19/2015. on 11/18/2015 the company responded "I just got off the phone with my office. We will be unable to perform any work for you. I will issue a refund to you a refund using the same payment method you used for the deposit. You should call Angie's List to obtain a refund from them, as well. If you have any issues with them, please send me an email and I will make it happen." Now they finally admit they can't paint our house! We demand a prompt refund of the full amount.

Not a nice person at all. I really don't really want this kind of person in my life even for a day or two. And do you really think bullying the office staff serves any purpose? When it rains, we can't paint outside. After it rains, it's too muddy to paint outside. When it dries out, we will finish the jobs we started first, then move to the newer jobs. Screaming at Teddi won't change that. Refund issued. Mean person gone. Back to the business I love and the customers I love to work for Mark

As always, these guys follow normal best practice when painting. Not a mess left behind. Fixed the door and painted it and it looks incredible. Sunroom matches outside uncovered porch and they primed and then painted. Scraped first, patched etc.
Description of Work: Painted sunroom.

I was kind of waiting to see if the office is going to reimburse me. The painting went well but when the painters came in and they were painting trim for everyone else and they charged me extra to paint the door but they took down some exit lights and they started taking them correctly because they had been up about two years. They started taking them down and there was a bracket about every six inches. They took down a part from across the patio and across the back and they broke down all the brackets and everything and left it lying there. It was kind of irritating a bit but the paint job was great. They were slow about getting it done.
Description of Work: I had my house painted by Sun Painting.

Response from Sun Painting Texas LLC
Mark Pevey had pulled down some Christmas type lights from this member's back porch. They were held in place by a bracket made from a clear plastic which was completely disintegrated. When he tried to remove any of them, the piece crumbled. He showed this to the owner and they agreed that Mark should just pull them down. The owner indicated that he would order some new brackets and Mark could come back to hang the lights when the brackets came in. They arrived a couple of weeks later and Mark went back out and hung the lights. I thought that was the end of it until I read this review. I have left a message for the member and am awaiting his response. I will send him a check for this as soon as I get the cost. I apologize for our communication Mark

Mark and the team are true professionals. They have been doing this a long time and it shows. Terri is always pleasant and responsive to our calls. Dario is an expert painter. We could not be more happy with the job they did and will hire them again for our next project.

Wonderful experience. Our crew was Ben McCoy and Mark Pevey. Could not have had a better experience. They had some difficulty removing the wallpaper and it set them behind 1 1/2 days. They worked on Saturday and late into the evenings to get the work completed. And the quality of the end result is just stunning.
Description of Work: Removed wallpaper from 2 1/2 baths, textured walls, repaired ceilings as needed, painted all ceilings, painted entire house.

We had a little trouble getting things scheduled due to the weather (all the rain in the spring of 2015), but they eventually made it out to the house and performed the services as requested. We were in the process of selling our house and feel the new paint helped with our curb appeal.

It took a lot longer than I would have like to get finished. The original schedule date was great however they canceled due to loss of contractor crew. Then it took about six weeks to get the schedule work out for them to perform the work. The communication during the process was great as they never tried to avoid me and kept me updated. The crew that came out was professional however and did a great job overall. However there was one room that did not need texture removed but it was the room that did not appear to look as good as it could have. I would definitely use again
