The painter Pete did an excellent job. He did the whole job by himself! There was supposed to be "a crew" come out for "a few days" but it took Pete 10 days total. No fault of his though, since we have a 2 story, 5 bedroom house, with an outside pergola that was also painted. There were 2 days of rain and a Sunday included, so I guess 7 prep/painting days. Tedi is the office rep and she was very nice and accommodating. Strange that their office hours are only 8am to 1pm. We had 1 minor issue and Tedi asked a supervisor to call us. He never did! One did stop by the next day, walked around the house, but never knocked on the door to even talk to us so I don't know his name!? Pete handled the issue, went ahead and did it. Again, the prep/paint/cleanup job was excellent, but I would suggest the owner take a little more effort in professionalism and feedback to customers. The cost was double the advertised price because of the size of the house and the work needed on the pergola. It was still a lot less than 2 other quotes we received. I would use them again.

Our superintendent, Ben McCoy was on the job every day with Peavy "Pete"and was right on top of the service, the same day it was mentioned. I think that this member is right in that Ben could do a better job communicating what he's doing. He's an action guy. I will address this with him. Peavy is a really interesting guy. He's a great worker and very personable, but he prefers to work alone. I try to assign as many jobs as I can where he can be a one man band. This job ended up being larger than the usual peavey job so took a bit longer than planned. The job was extremely well done as he takes his time and does it right. A lot of repeat customers who have had peavy on my heir job will ask for him again Mark

Mark came out and walked our house had showed me one piece of wood that need to be replaced by the front door which I told him my husband could fix no problem .He then went around the house and said there were 5 other places that needed to have the wood replaced and he said he would add them separately when he sent the quote..I remember asking him again before he left too plz add the other 5 things needed to be repaired so my husband could look at them and so on... When he sent the quote what needed to be repaired was NOT includeds..I called everyday for over a week asking for Mark to plz send the list of repairs needed to be done so my husband could start on them and that I would also like for him to call me. After OVER a week of calling everyday which there office only takes calls between 8 -1. Tedi(sp) the girl in this office said Anna had talked to him and then she proceeded to tell me the price minus this and that and I knew at that point there was no way we wanted to proceed with this company as still I wasNOT getting what I had asked for from them ,at the end of the convo she did said Mark didn't add the 5 things beuz I said my husband would do them .I told her it was hard for my husband to do them when he didn't know what the 5 things were and Mark said he was going to send them with the quote her response was "I wasn't there" .I told her we were done with them and that they can't treat people like this and got the heck off the phone!!!
Description of Work: Absolutely nothing as we never got past there horrible communication, and run around attitude.. Response to Mark=> Wow, Your amount of lies is really shocking to me and I don't see how you can think you can get away with it and your babbling is really quite funny...I never walked the whole house with you becuz you were to send us what repairs still needed to still be done which you never did and you did NOT send us the quote the next day as I had to call and ask for it from Tedi...and seriously I am laughing becuz your remark about not really wanting to get our house painted is insane as I don't think the house with several bare pieces of wood look very attractive and legal action against the ppl who replaced our wood.... Seriously Mark you might be a legal action freak but we aren't and Wow you really are something else(HAH)! I told my husband after you left that there was something about you I didn't care for!!! Thank you so much for proving me right.. I could go on but I am not wasting one more second on a person who is about as far from honest that I have seen in a long time...

This member contacted us inquiring about our exterior coupon. I always advise Angie's members to call us before they buy a coupon to be sure they are comfortable with any extra charges. When I walked the house with her, I discovered that she had hired a carpenter who had spent weeks at her house and done quite shoddy work for a lot of money-over $2000. A lot of areas had been missed by this individual as well. I asked if she wanted us to do anything about the poor work and she said no. It was already paid for. As we walked, I asked her about this repair and that and she repeatedly said that her husband would take care of it. I stopped taking notes after a few of these and focused on measuring her house for the coupon. I sent her the proposal the next day which was about 600 extra due to the amount of the siding and the doors. I told her that, as soon as she purchased the coupon, we would get her on the schedule. She never purchased the coupon but began calling the office demanding that we give her a detailed list of repairs including costs for each item of repair. I did not have these as I didn't have good notes. Teddi informed her of this several times. I don't believe she had any intention of getting her house painted. I don't believe she had any interest in having any company or individual do any more repairs. She may have been wanting some documentation to proceed with legal action against the "carpenter" she had used. That is only a guess on my part. At any rate, she was very persistent and not very friendly. I'm sorry we were unable to provide the documentation she needed. We would have provided her with a great paint job. That's what we do. I wish her well. For any other member who is reading this, we have sold over 600 of these coupons. They are a great value to Angie's List members and we have been running these for several years. Call us before you purchase one and we will be happy to measure the square feet, let you know if there are any extra painting charges, and note damage and suggest repairs. It's really helpful if you can indicate up front that you are interested in the coupon and whether you are interested in any other services like repairs, deck staining, etc. I really love meeting our customers and spending a little time with you. My staff is super friendly and I'm guessing you will enjoy spending a bit of time with them. Mark

Update:10/16/2015 After working through the scheduling/front office issues, they came out and touched up the areas necessary. Work done is really nice. They do, do a good job. ********
Description of Work: Removed acoustic from ceiling, repaired cracks/small holes and painted the ceiling and walls in the live in areas. Tape under paint is visible, can see where the paint on ceiling needs another coat and the creases where the wall meets the ceiling in some areas need to be caulked or smoothed out. I called and left messages...someone came out and confirmed the work needed re-work. Someone was supposed to call me to set up the work but haven't heard back. I even called and left another voicemail this week.

I 'm not sure how Valente missed the areas this member is mentioning in her review, but Ben went over and confirmed that we have some work to do. Sometimes even a painter as good as Valente misses things. I called earlier to take care of these issues and am awaiting the member's call back. I will try again tomorrow. Mark

This job was delayed through no fault of the provider due to heavy spring rains and this being an outside job. But Sun Painting was prompt to send out their estimator to view the work and accept color samples for the paint and they stayed in contact through our "monsoon" season to keep me updated on scheduling. The entire job was performed in two days - one day for a thorough prep and the second for the painting. The painters did a stellar job!!! They were neat, professional and skilled at their trade.

My first contact was Teddy at Sun Painting, who is wonderful to deal with. I gave her all my info and what we needed to our new home and she said that Mark would be coming out for the estimate and walkthrough on the scheduled date. On the date of the appointment, Mark was a little early and he never called to ask how far away I was or if I was even on my way, he took the time to meet a few of my neighbors and just chit chatted with them. He was very detailed, asked tons of questions, most that I wasnt even thinking of. He was extremelly helpful and informative. After the walkthrough was all over he told me he would have the estimate to me by the end of the week. As promised my estimate showed up in my email by that Thursday and I was pleasently surprised with the pricing, I had really expected something more expensive. We talked through the bid and I told him I was ready to move forward and he stated that he would have the office get me the forms to sign and schedule the job. We had a slight hiccup here but it was more a misscommunication on my part than anyone elses. With that being said Mark got the job done as promised and as requested and the results are amazing. I held off on having the upstairs done until I saw how well they did on the first floor and have since scheduled to have the upstairs hallway and staircase done. They are fantastic and are true to their word and even though they are a larger company they treat you like you are their only client!

Two people came on Thursday, on time, to power wash the wood surfaces. A large crew came, on time, Friday to caulk, paint and do a major repair on our screened porch. They did a great job, cleaned up impeccably and the repair job was done professionally. The spring rains caused a considerable delay in starting the job. My husband I feel it was definitely worth waiting for. All the crew members were polite and focused on the job. I highly recommend Sun Painting!

Meticulous with the prep work. Arrived when they said they would. Focus on quality. I wasn't quite sure what I would get given the quote was lower than 2 other painting contractors I went with. The Angie's special helped defray the overall cost. We were very impressed at how they spend considerable time prepping. I will likely reuse these folks for future jobs as I was very impressed but I would ask for the same crew that they sent. Great gents!

This was a very pleasant and professional experience from the very beginning. The office staff was quick to respond to my requests and questions and stayed on top of the project the entire way through. The field rep came out to see us and walk to project to make sure that everyone was on the same page. The project was to take 2 days and because we both work they had to accommodate our schedule. The morning of the job the 2 painters actually showed up early and began immediately. Because this was July of last year it was extremely hot and I really didn't expect a whole lot to get done once the heat started. All the board replacements and prep work was done by mid-afternoon and then the guys let me know that they were going to work on through the rest of the day and get things finished. The weather report was saying 101 degrees for the following day and that was going to be to hot for them and the paint. They put in 14 hours and only took a short lunch break. The house looked brand new and we were very happy. A couple of weeks ago I noticed some pealing and cracking and since we had used an Angie's coupon for the original job I wasn't sure if I should even bother calling Sun. I emailed them from Angie's web page, explained the situation and asked if anything could be done as we were at just about 1 year since the original work was done. Ben arranged for a painter to come out this past Monday morning. He met with my husband and walk the project. We had marked what we were aware of with blue tape and those spots were fixed immediately. The painter then worked his way around the entire exterior fixing any pealing, cracking and calking we weren't aware of but he was. We have never really had a bad experience with any of the companies we have used through Angie's List but Sun Painting is so much more than what we expected. Going forward if we or anyone we know need a painting service you can be sure Sun will be the first choice.

We bought a coupon deal thru Angies list on 4-8-2015 Sun painting could not come to our residence till 5-1-2015,met with the representative of Sun painting on that date and he evaluated the job. We were sent a estimate for the work along with additional items on the following day, agreed to have all the work done on 5-4-15 three weeks of rain delayed the job(understandable) finally received a confirmation date of 6-11-15 took day off work no one showed and after 3 hours of leaving message received a reply of no we will not be there (wasted day for me) Representative from Sun painting stated 4 persons would show up at 9:00 on 6-15 even if he had to put on painting clothes himself,1 person showed up at 5:30 in the afternoon to power wash (no 4 persons as promised and no one from Sun painting) Worked with the sub contractor and he said a crew of 4 persons would show up on 6-20 and yes they did show and worked for 12 hours and returned on 6-22 to complete the job. The painting on the house is very good they covered all plants and areas to protect them from stray paint very satisfied with the job yet Sun painting would not return several messages left and don't seem to care about the customers time or communication after the coupon has been purchased. Time between coupon purchase and completion was 2 months and 14 days, if you are in a hurry to complete the job or expect them to show up when they call you stating they will be their, and return your calls then I would not recommend sun painting.

This member and his wife drank a lot. Every day. We couldn't make much sense of their conversation later in the day any time we called. We tried calling earlier and leaving messages, but they usually didn't get them. This was during the rains we have had and, since they live in ponder, we were careful not to send a crew out without a good day forecast. That's an awfully long drive to get nothing done due to weather. The member also insisted that he be home while we were working. This really restricted our ability to do the job. Gabe agreed to work over a weekend and we were finally able to get the job done. We did an excellent job and hopefully this will be what matters in the end Mark

Overall my experiance was very good. Note that I ordered this service right before we got all the spring 2015 rain that filled our lakes back up so there was an expected delay in service (hard to paint in a storm). However they kept me informed and it was well understood why the delay happened. Once things dryed up, they were able to get to my project in relatively short order and completed the job in 2.5 days. We had some communication issues in regards to painting my shutters but they solved them with no complants and took corrective action as soon as it was brought up. Would I recommend Sun Painting. Yes. My house looks great, they did what I asked and considering the circumstances they give me and my house the time and effort it deserved, dispite the back-log of business I'm sure they were trying hard to get to.
Description of Work: Painted all wood exterior of house a new color. Power washed exterior prior to painting and repaired some minor water damaged wood.
We were really pleased with the quality of the work from Sun Painting. Mark came out to give us an initial quote then came out again to confirm the scope of work before we agreed on it/signed on the dotted line. There was a slight misunderstanding about the start date due to the rain but once we got past that and they came onsite, we were nothing but pleased. The crew was professional and courteous, and even went out and tinted the paint we provided as they needed it. They normally provide the paint but we requested we buy our own paint and that cost be removed from the estimate (which it was). Overall we were really happy with the result and how carefully the painting was executed. The crew seemed to take great pride in their work and each area was prepped appropriately. The project lasted longer than planned, but that was due to the monsoon we experienced in May. We would highly recommend Sun Painting, especially Jose and his crew.
Description of Work: Painted exterior of home in 3 colors (body, trim, accent). They also painted the garage in the same color scheme, the front porch, and the porch swing. Replaced rotted wood siding, full prep including hand scraping, power washing, caulking (where needed) and window glazing.

Project got off to a rocky start when the painters got lost on the way to our home and were several hours late after several weather delays. However, the work crew was courteous and tidy. They cleaned up the job site each evening when they left. They stayed late the last night to finish the job and completed the entire project in two days. The owner was responsive to our concerns and addressed any issues. We purchased a coupon and then had additional services performed. The price was reasonable for the siding repairs and exterior door painting. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for an exterior painting job. The finished product was excellent.

This was a big and complex job. I was on a tight budget and these guys came in at a sharp price. Unfortunately, their proposal was a bit vague and lacked a great deal of specificity. I made a few changes, added what I thought was a bit of clarity and adjusted (increased) their price some. But in retrospect, I was not sufficiently precise. That said, the work that had to be done got done and given the situation, perhaps an imprecise quote was the best way to go. After I paid the deposit and the crew arrived, we drove out many of the details and negotiations began in earnest. There were no cost over-runs but the completion date slipped a few days, Mark Brozio, Sun Painting's owner was quite responsive. The size of the crew doubled, as if by magic. I continued to gently supervise and negotiate with both the crew and the owner, Mark. At then end of the job, when I still had some concerns, Mark Brozio surprised and delighted me by saying that for a job of this size a "Powder Puff" service was included: after all the other trades had completed their work at my house, Sun Painting would return and do any required touch-up work at no additional charge. This last comment, along with the volume of work they performed at an agreed upon price, has endeared me to Sun Painting. They will be my first choice in the future.

Although at the beginning there were some slight communication issues, I attribute that to the provider's inability to stay on schedule due to all the rain we have had. Long story made short, they did a beautiful job from beginning to end. The prep work - power washing, scraping, and caulking - was exemplary and the actual painting was very professional. They were very careful with my landscaping, and cleaned everything up each day before they left. Sun Painting takes great pride in what they do and I recommend them highly. Although the category says "Painting - Interior" the work was performed on the outside of my home.

Ben and Pevey, two man crew, did a good job BUT there were some things that disappointed me. The paint technique was excellent, trim work and edging perfect. The drywall repair was less than expected. While the holes in ceiling from moving lights were patched beautifully, they did not match the texture. So although repaired, the areas are noticeable because they are textureless. Also, the previous owner did a terrible job patching walls. I would expect a professional paint company to repair those areas, however many, prior to painting. I would also expect not to be able to see the repairs, ESPECIALLY when receiving the amount of money they did for this job! Also, though they draped the rooms in plastic, there were so many splatter marks on the floor, I had to walk around for a couple days bent over scraping little dots off the hardwood floors, something else I would expect the company to address on their own. When I asked Mark the owner, to meet me so I could discuss, because I wanted to be sure my expectations weren't unrealistic, he said he would send out the lead painter, who actually did call the next day. But at that point I was moving into the townhouse. Now with furniture in place I am concerned of the mess they would create bringing in their equipment, etc., so at this point have opted not to address my concerns. They also cleaned their paint equipment on my lawn, leaving paint permanently marked and disappearing only by virtue of being mowed little by little each week. I couldn't bring myself to give Sun Painting a grade of C because of the overall beautiful trim detail they did, but I would have given them an A++ if they would have repaired the walls better and would have highly recommended them to others. At this point, recommendations will come with "proceed at own risk!" Had I known they wouldn't prep the walls better, I would have prepped them myself before the painters arrived. HOWEVER, I paid over $4K for this work (1375 sq ft). For that, I expect excellence!

We did all areas of this home; walls, ceilings, base, doors, casings, and closets. The previous owner had done a lot of patching and texturing (not well). Our bid was to repair damage and paint, not to get the texture in perfect condition. As we were prepping the walls, we repaired two of the worst areas since they had been noted by me and were on the contract. Ben did quite a few others as good customer service. The previous homeowner had also splattered some paint on the floors. We completely covered everything with plastic so were pretty sure it wasn't ours. Neither Ben nor the member noticed the specs of paint or the bad texture when they did the walk. When she noticed these areas the following week, Ben told her he would come right over. The clean up would take very little time and the texturing would have really made her happy so he was ready and willing to come back. She was doing a lot of pre moving right then and said she would call when she was ready. We are still eager to clean up the specs and can certainly fix any texture areas she would like. I probably should have been more clear as to what a good paint job entails and then asked if she wanted us to do anything above that. Mark

Showed by on time finished on time my house looks great they repair many problems too. Not cheap but quality is great. The painter needed to get behind some crappy red tip bushes to paint and I told them to cut down what they needed to do the job as I was going to cut them down completely in the future. They cut them down completely for me and moved the bushed in the street for no charge WOW I was impressed They took down my ham radio antenna and put it back up on the roof No Problem will use these folks again.

I got several bids and Sun was in the middle but due to their reviews on AL I selected them. I signed the SOW on 2/2/2015. The work was JUST finished last Friday (5/2/15) after numerous delays. In fairness some were weather related, but there were plenty of opportunities to finish the work, but instead, we received excuses, some of which were asinine (the painter's compressor allegedly broke down twice while on our premises in this period). The worst part though is the attitude of the owner (Mark Brozio). He made every excuse in the book for not getting the work done and basically refused to take responsibility. He argued with me over email that it had been 60 days (when it had been 90). He confused me with another customer (texting me as "Charles" on one occasion). Then when I complained about the delays, he accused me of engaging his workers to do other work on the side. I have used various companies off Angie's - that's why I have a membership - and this is BY FAR the WORST experience I have had. Hint to Mr. Brozio for future communication - rather than attacking your customer, try something like this - "I apologize for the delays, this is not typical of our service, and I hope you can find your way to give us another try in the future".
Description of Work: We had a chimney (exterior) that the siding was basically rotted out. So, replace the siding, trim, and paint.

I apologize to this customer. I asked my part time framer to bid on this job and submitted my proposal per lario's numbers. Lario absolutely will not show up on a job with the threat of rain. Since that's all we had for the month of February, I sent a crew we use on and off to do the work since I didn't want to cause any further delay to our customer. This crew chief, Russell, turned in for the job, labor and material, at the end of March. I had paid for both lumber and paint at this point and I paid Russell in full. I also ran the customers card. Nothing more was said by the customer. The customer emailed me on May first, Friday, that he was really unhappy that the job had taken so long, that the guys had just finished Friday I indicated my confusion to the customer which must have come off as being argumentative. For this I apologize. And I have no idea what's going on with Russell. Why Friday? Why not 30 days ago when I paid him. I have already emailed this member to see if there's anything we can do to alleviate this situation. We stand behind our work and if we have any issues, we will do whatever we can to fix them

The painting was pretty good. However, not so good with other things involved like cleanup and not getting paint on my wood floors and bricks outside by the porch and the hose spicket. Before the job was started, I had pointed out some doors that would need to be adjusted to keep from sticking after the painting. Anyway, it was agreed to be taken care of. However, it was not and one door in particular stuck so bad you had to hit it to open it. I contacted Mark Brozio and he sent out some guys to fix it. They took a pry bar and squeezed the door away from the frame. I told them this is just a bandaid and will not hold. They said it would and left. Anyway, a week later it was stuck again. I told Mark the situation and asked him to fix it and he never responded to my email. The floors were covered with think plastic which was ripped during their moving around. These holes were not fixed and when they used a power paint sprayer, paint got onto the floor. They did not remove this paint after asking them to. I have removed most of them and it took me hours on my hands and knees to get them (3,000 square foot home). They also had a no call, no show when they agreed to fix some spots they missed. I totally understand that it is quicker and easier to get the job 99% done and then fix the little bits that occurred that didn't turn out correctly. The problem was the fixing part was like pulling teeth and half the issues were not fixed at all after repeated requests. The price is right as long as you are okay with paint getting on your floors and on the outside of your house where the workers clean their equipment and put brushes on top of the paint cans. I would have rather spent $500 more to avoid all the hassles.

This job occurred a year ago. We had some serious problems with that painter and he was let go shortly after this job. We have sent a new crew back twice and I thought we had this member's issues resolved. Haven't heard from him in 11 months. I will contact him on Monday to see what we can do for him Mark

It was absolutely wonderful! Let me first say that we had multiple quotes for our work and Sun Painting came in around the middle of the pack (if you throw out the quotes from the guy that your neighbor knows whose quote is less than the actual materials cost and the quotes that are half of what your entire mortgage is). We recently purchased a new home (to us - built in 1976) and decided before we moved in to have some updates performed, especially the popcorn ceilings. I called Sun Painting and Mark was able to come out that week to look over our "wish list" of things we wanted done and had a quote to me by the next evening. He was honest about what would be most expensive, what would be better done before our furniture was moved in, what would be the longest pole in the tent, and what he thought could possibly wait...since we were balancing time, budget, and our highest priorities. He even understood that we weren't going to have ALL the work done he was quoting, but that we wanted to take advantage of his estimate so that we could budget in the future for the rest of the work; he understood and even gave us tips and his opinions on issues we might have....all was very appreciated on our part. We decided initially on only having our popcorn ceilings removed, retextured (orange peel), and painted which was around $5,155 for a 2500+ sqft. They finished early and the outcome was amazing, honeslty. We were able to push our move-in date a couple weeks out and decided based on the outcome of the ceiling to go ahead and have the remainder of the interior work done as well. Mark had quoted a week for the rest of the work, but the wallpaper removal took longer than expected, but he apologized for the delays and it ended up taking about a week and half, but for the final product it was well worth it. They removed all the wallpaper in the house (small hallway, dining room, 3 bathrooms, kitchen, and breakfast nook), retextured where they had removed the wallpaper, painted paneling in the living room and kitchen, all closets, all walls in the house, and trims, doors, and casings. The product was absolutely astounding, I cannot explain the difference it made and how well it was done. They patched all holes, areas where there had been curtain rods, etc. The small details impressed me the most, from the backdoor that had 12 seperate pains of glass to the small shutter in our kitchen opening the painting was great. I expected to walkthrough and find little issues here and there (which is to be expected on a job this big), but there were none. I put an A on price, because I truly feel for what we paid, the price was a bargain. Also of note, you sometimes find that there are bad crews and good crews to a company like this, but the ceilings & walls were done by two difference crews and both did an amazing job. We plan on using Sun for the painting of the exterior of our house, as well as all of our cabinets in the future.
