Larry and Michael had been out before to work on the entryway tile and to do some re-caulking in the kitchen, so I was already familiar with their work when I called last Thursday and scheduled a visit for the following Tuesday. Michael and José made these bathrooms shine! They arrived just a few minutes late but there's big-time road and freeway construction going on here. The tub, tile, grout, and caulk are all white. Both bathrooms were visibly brighter when they were finished. Not only did they do the repair work; they removed all traces of hard water spots from the tile. This house is seventeen years old and had three kids grow up in it and it has never had this kind of bathroom work done. It now looks just fabulous, and the price was reasonable for the kind of work they did. They cleaned up completely, even vacuuming the floors. Not a trace of residue anywhere. In five hours both bathrooms were a pleasure to look at once again.
Description of Work: The grout and caulk in the master bath and jack/jill bath were in dire need of attention. The jack/jill tub needed regrouting of the entire perimeter. In the master bath, the shower floor perimeter needed regrouting; the tub surround needed caulking; various areas needed touch-up grouting and crack repair.

Larry was great to work with--knowledgeable, punctual, reasonable, and very affable. We always knew what was next in the process and when to expect the workers. He went above and beyond to make sure that we were pleased with the results, each step of the way. His final cost was three thousand dollars less than an earlier bid and the result was a beautiful new bathroom. We are happy to recommend him highly to anyone looking for a professional to undertake a similar or smaller/larger project.
Description of Work: We contracted with Larry to completely remodel a rather small 1950's bathroom--including tear-out and installation of a new tub and tub to ceiling cultured marble backsplash, custom-built vanity with matching top, new doors and pull-out drawers for a built-in cabinet, new toilet, new plumbing and fixtures, tiled floor, textured and painted walls, new lighting, new window. The vanity presented a unique problem because of the narrowness of space, a problem solved by starting narrow at the wall and widening near the end (with an above sink vessel); the result was wonderful. The window was round and recessed with a square fixture inside with a screen (ugly, ugly); it was replaced with a frosted glass window that looks bigger and allows more natural light into the room (beautiful now).

The overall experience was wonderful. Larry and his entire crew were very conscientious and worked hard to complete all projects to minimize any inconvenience to us but with careful attention to provide quality work. We highly recommend their work and their excellent customer service.
Description of Work: We remodeled the master bathroom completely and made some improvements to the guest bath. Larry Bushner and the entire crew did an excellent job and performed all work at a very reasonable price and in a timely manner. We are very pleased with the quality of the work that included tile work, cabinetry, painting, beveled mirrors, special trim and molding, and grout work. With his help our new bathrooms are beautiful and very functional. In addition, Larry and crew assisted us with laying new hearth tiles and special woodwork to our fireplace mantle. I highly recommend his services and will be using him again.

Larry Bushner, AKA, THE GROUIT DOCTOR and crew did an excellent job. GREAT PRICE including ANGIE'S LIST discount. Took time to discuss color options. My 30 year old ugly red/brown grout was eliminated and replaced with beautiful modern looking grout. Could not be happier with final result and would surely use again.
Description of Work: Stain (recolor) existing grout lines in kitchen, 2 baths, hallway, and laundry room. Two man crew thoroughly cleaned and prepped all floors to be stained. Crew applied coloring solution, let dry one hour, checked for any missed spots, applied solution to these spots, cleaned off excess solution, had me double check their work and were finished.

They did a great job on the project. One of the bathrooms is a Jack and Jill bath and has a lot of odd angles that required very precise cuts to get the tile close. They did an excellent job with these... better than anyone we've ever experienced in the past. We can do our own tiling and we're very particular, so it's great to see when someone can do it better than you can do it yourself.
Description of Work: For 2 upstairs bathrooms: - Removed existing floor tile for one bathroom (we did the other bathroom ourselves)- Put down cement board on the floors- Adjusted the level of the toilet flanges- Installed ceramic tile on the floors- Grouted the floors plus a shower (we tiled the shower ourselves, but let Masterpiece do the grouting for everything since it was special polyurethane grout)

Larry Bushner is the grout doctor. He provides incredible services. He is affordable. If something is not right which is rare; he fixes it immediately. He does not mess around. I like the people who he sub contracts. They are people that I don’t mind having in the house. I had 3 bids last Christmas for kitchen countertops. He has done a great job with 2 bathrooms in the summer. He came in at the high end of the bid but I knew his work. I knew that I could trust him totally because he has cleaned up the mess that other people left from other things. He is one hundred percent dependable. He wants to be praised for his work and he works for that praise. He has won Angie’s List super service award. He also completely redid the plumbing under the sink in my bathroom when the plumber refused. I would really want him in my home. He does all the work for me. If something does go wrong he will not use it again because his goal in life is to be praised. I totally trust him. I was really pleased. In the summer before that he did 2 bathrooms for me and put in new counters for me. We used cultured granite which is just beautiful. That is why I wanted him to do my kitchen too. I wanted corian countertops and he did not have it. He got somebody who was just superb. I would recommend him to anybody. He will be the first person I will call for anything else around the house.

The Grout Doctor Larry Bushner and Michael were very professional. We noticed a few small places that seemed to reappear after they left. When called and talked to Larry he didn't hesitate to come back and do a touch up. My son has seen the work and was amazed on how good the shower looked. We recommend the grout doctor they do a wonderful job.
Description of Work: Larry gave us an estimate to clean and regrout the shower. Michael came and did a great job. Cleaned the hard water stains, dirty grout and replaced the missing grout.

I hired Larry Bushner of Grout Doctor to do some work on my parents house. The job was to clean and polish the marble entryway and to clean and stain the ceramic flooring in the hallway bathroom. Larry works with a partner company for floor restoration: http://www.bizaillion.com/ The workmanship, work ethic, and result of the labor were all outstanding. We would definitely hire them again for any kind of tile or floor restoration. We also spoke to Larry about getting the Master Bath tiled. His estimate was extremely high, but we felt like he would do good work. When we saw that he worked with a partner company for floor restoration, I asked him about it, because I wanted to know if he was going to contract out the tile work too or use his own guys. At this point Larry became a bit irritated and confrontational on the phone asking "Is that going to be a problem?" with reference to his working with Bizaillion for the floor restoration. I explained that we just wanted a good deal for the work instead of paying for one company to hire another. He said that the work done by Bizaillion for him was highly rated and that it shouldn't matter that they were partner companies. As far as the tile work goes, Larry said it was indeed his own guys that would do the tile work. Deciding that the labor was too expensive, we went with another company for the tile work. Larry's price was actually twice as much as the company we finally went with, and the other company's price included the tile and the expensive Star Quartz grout Larry quoted us. Larry's quote didn't include the price of tile.
Description of Work: -entrywayclean and polish the marble entrywaytotal due upon completion $450-hallway bathroom clean and stain the ceramic flooringtotal due upon completion $145the pricing for the above 2 items are predicated upon doing both of them on the same day

We had a shower pan break that flooded the bathroom and bedroom. We had seven different companies out to give estimates - mainly because most of the quotes were simply outrageous for the type of work we were looking for. Several companies kept pushing their high end products despite my clear statement that we had a very limited budget (had NOT planned for a shower replacement!) and, as the house is a "Pinto", we were not looking for a "Lexus" bathroom. I contacted Larry specifically because of his Angie's List reviews (actually, I joined Angie's List precisely because we had been unable top get a workable quote otherwise). I hesitated because he is listed under Grout Doctor and I needed so much more that grout repair. However, the reviews were compelling so I contacted him, he personally answered and set an apt for the same day. He actually LISTENED to me, heard my concerns and gave me multiple suggestions to lower the overall cost while still getting the shower fixed and so much more. Following his advice we were able to replace a NASTY shower with a beautiful tiled one with built in niches (including opening up the shower area by two feet in height and half a foot on the sides), and totally redo the bathroom for several thousand dollars less than most of the other companies were quoting for just the shower. We even were able to rip out the 40 year old linoleum and now have tile floors that match the shower floor and niches. We did have two quotes lower than Larry's - but both from contractors who did not appear to have either a real grasp on the scope of the work or who did not include all aspects of the job in their quote (eg. would need a plumber who would bill separately, an electrician....and so forth). One of the things that made it all so easy was that Larry performed mostly as a supervisor and he organized, arranged and paid all of the other contractors - and EVERYTHING was included in the original price. AWESOME! Absolutely everything was scheduled through Larry and all work was completed on time and exactly as promised. (Michael and Jose - tile work; Tim- electrician; Dan-sheetrock) Although wading through so many "wrong" contractors was difficult, once we met with Larry the process was smooth and very pleasant. I cannot recommend Larry and this company highly enough and am only really sorry that I didn't think to take before/after pix!
Description of Work: Ripped out shower - opened up shower footprint two feet height and half a foot width Removed broken concrete shower pan Removed tile on bathroom walls (apx 4 feet up from floor all the way around) Custom built new shower floor Tiled shower including two custom built niches Raised shower head two feet (so 6'5" husband can actually use shower without stooping!) Removed and replaced old toilet and vanity Removed old lighting fixtures and replaced with new ones New sheetrock throughout bath where tile had been removed - also sheetrocked wall in bedroom that was damaged from leak Ripped up old linoleum floor and tiled floor with matching accent tile from shower Finished out bathroom with new baseboards

All I can say is that it was worth the $1000! My tiles were pretty ugly and after the guys left, they looked better than new! This was much cheaper than taking up the tiles and putting in all new tile (I was about to do this). Everyone was very professional. The guys did a great job and were very professional. I think I'll ask about countertops next..
Description of Work: I moved into a house that had ugly dirty tiles. I had about 420 square feet of tile that needed professional cleaning, grout cleaning and grout staining. I had about 125 square feet of tile and grout that was cleaned. I called Larry late on Monday and by Thursday I had my tiles cleaned and stained. I kept changing my mind on stain color but Larry had patience with me.

Larry Bushner really seems to understand his clients and their homes. He always has great suggestions for something that will be the perfect solution for a remodeling project. The company that manufactured and installed the product was terrific. Vipor Plumbing who improved and updated the under-counter plumbing was the best plumber that we've ever had in our home. From beginning to end, the counters were completed and installed within a week. Great experience!
Description of Work: We had two bathroom countertops replaced with cultured granite. Fabulous results. We replaced the countertops in our guest and half bathrooms. Neither of these bathrooms receives a major amount of use and I wanted something that would look good, was easy to clean and affordable. Larry suggested that we might want to consider this product. The comapny that he sent to us to install the counters was wonderful.

Larry and his crew are always on time, on task, clean and thorough in completing a remodeling project. Everything that they have done for us has been completed well within the time frame that I have allotted. Larry has been extremely considerate in working around my busy schedule. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. My kitchen has an updated, appropriate, and very pleasant appearance for a 1985 home.
Description of Work: Countertop (Corian) and backsplash (tumbled marble) replacement. New sink and stovetop installed, as well. Larry offers competitive prices. He is very honest and helpful with ideas for project. This was actually the 4th project with which Larry has helped us. Larry and the folks that he sends to work in our home are always professional and trustworthy. It has actually been quite enjoyable having them.

I first called Larry to do what I had assumed was grout repair. I noticed mold and moisture around the shower pan. We scheduled a time for an estimate - Larry was prompt. Upon initial inspection, Larry suspected that there was a leak some where below the grout. He used a 'bladder' leak device to fill the shower pan - water was coming out from below the shower pan in a steady stream - no good. Definitely a leak. I am going to give commentary on the suggestions Larry made since I feel that Contractors that are good, give you options - even if one of the options is 'use someone else'. Larry walked me through a few options on repair: one was to try to repair/replace the existing tile and grout near the leak. Certainly the cheaper way to go, but not guaranteed to fix the leak - Larry suspected that the shower pan was framed with wood and since it was exposed to water, would continue to expand/contract and would most likely leak again; second was to try take out the bottom half of the shower tile and replace the backboard, shower pan and tile - he said you would be able to distinguish that work had been done, since it would be difficult to match exactly the existing tile; third option was to completely remodel the shower. This was obviously the most expensive option now, but my logic was that fixing the leak today, would prevent further issues down the road - which would end up costing more money in the long run. We decided to rebuild the shower - do it right the first time. Larry suggested various tile options - of course tile selection is the responsibility of the home owner and a function of money. My wife selected a nice marble and accent tiles - this was obviously more expensive. Larry walked me through their process of building a shower to avoid leaks for many years to come. Living in Dallas, TX, where home foundations constantly settle, nothing is 100% - but the various layers and details that Larry uses underneath the tile, made me comfortable about his process. Larry's crew should up as scheduled - clean, courteous, non-smokers. They laid drop cloths on all areas where they were working. They bagged all the demo; and cleaned up each day before leaving. You can check other postings for details on the day-to-day process - Larry was communicative throughout (even though I had been traveling the entire time). Suggesting changes/design that made most sense for the space and functionality. One thing to note: I was so comfortable with Larry and his team, that I actually gave them a temporary code to my alarm so they could continue working while I was traveling - not something I normally do. Overall, working with Larry and his team was great. Shower looks better than I expected and I feel good that I hired quality workmanship. If more contractors were as upfront, professional and stood by their work, we wouldn't need an Angie's list to protect consumer/home owners.
Description of Work: Complete remodel of Shower enclosure in Master Bath: Demo, including remove old ceiling facade in front of shower Build new shower, including new shower pan curb, new ceiling light, small corner ledge in shower *Note: Labor estimate total was $4K - including materials to build shower, ceiling and curb; tile selection was the remainder of the cost

Larry was extremely helpful and gave us every detail of the work he would do to repair the shower. Extremely professional. Once the tile was removed from the shower with the pan, he showed me how the drain had been installed incorrectly making the drainage problem worse. His employee doing the demolition, pan and tile repair, was extremely neat, respectful of our home, trustworthy, and a very hard worker. Basically, the Grout Doctor was very efficient and knowledgeable and turned an extremely stressful situation into a tolerable one. While he was here, I had Larry check my other bathrooms and he did grout repairs where needed so I wouldn't have any further problems.
Description of Work: Master Shower pan liner was leaking which required the bottom half of the shower to be torn out, the pan replaced and then matching and installing porcelain tile in the bottom half of the shower and floor.

After going through a few companies and reading their reviews on Angie's List, I decided to give Larry a call due to the relative closeness of work Larry had previously performed for other folks and the great reviews he received. The pictures from other jobs really helped me get an idea of the type of work he does and gave me an idea on what I should expect from an estimate. Estimate: I left Larry a message and he returned my call that same day to set up an appointment. We picked a convienent time for both of us to meet at my house that week. When we met, he was very nice and attentive to what I wanted to do with the shower and helped provide guidance for when I may not have a clear picture of what I wanted. It was good to hear that I was "only limited by my creativity and my pocketbook". While Larry and I were going through the updates I wanted, he also provided his professional values and how he also expects those same values from the sub-contractors he employs on his jobs. Larry provided an estimate later that night, which was broken out with the type of details I asked for and it was very comparable to other estimates I had recieved. The estimate covered most of the labor and parts; Tile, shower fixtures and door were left off the estimate since we were picking those out. Larry's estimate was $3685 and 5 days for completion. He gave a rough estimate of how much the door would cost (~$1000) and gave a wide range for how much the tile and fixture would cost. We ended up having Larry pay for the tile, so the total cost of the renovation came out to: - Demo Old Shower, Build New Shower, cost of tile = $4340.00 - New Shower Fixture = $176.45 - Frameless Shower Door and Install = $900.00 Total Cost of Renovation = $5416.45 Day 1 - Shower Demo: Jose and Larry came in on Day 1 of the work to tear our the shower and make sure there weren't any surprises behind the 20+ year old shower. He came with drop clothes and covered the bathroom and the area where he walked around the house. Overall, Jose kept things as clean as possible which we really appreciated. We already knew that behind the tiles were drywall and the shower floor was cut directly into the foundation, so I was hoping that those were really the only real issues we had to deal with. The only other obsticle that remained was the exhaust fan that sat right above the shower, which was in the way of our desire to raise the ceiling. Turns out that the fan didnt exhaust anything - it was a boxed in fan that just circulated the air in the bathroom. Jose removed the fan and later, the electrician would add a new fan (an extra that wasn't discussed) that actually removed the air out of the bathroom. No other issues were found during the demo, which was nice. Day 1 ended with the plumber removing the old shower valve and adding the new one. Day 2 - Finish Demo and put up Cement Board: The morning of Day 2 was the same as day 1 - completing the demo of the shower. The afternoon began the build out of the new shower. By the end of Day 2, the ceiling had been raised, we had cement board all around the walls and ceiling, the joints had been waterproofed and the beginning of the floor was started. Day 3 & 4 - Tiling and Floor: Both days were spent working on the new floor and tiling the walls and ceiling. The other feature that was added was the 3-tiered niche. Lastly, the electrician came out an installed the new vent. Day 5 - Finish Tiling and complete niche (add shelves and finish tile): The last day of tiling was eventful as we still had not come up with a solution to what we wanted to use for the shelves in the niche. Jose was also ready to add the shelves that morning and we were in a time crunch to figure it out. I drove to where we purchased the tile and met with the general manager and explained the situation. While on the phone with Larry, we went to the back and found a perfect piece of travertine (14" x 14") that was a sample piece. Long story short, Larry and the GM made it happen and I was back home with what I wanted for the shelves. At the end of the day, all tiling was complete and ready for grout. We let it sit for 3 days before Jose came back to start on the grout. Day 6 - Grout: Jose came back and added grout to all the tile. The grout that was used is called Starquartz. It is self sealing, stain/mildew resistant and colorfast. Pretty neat technology! Day 7 - Trim added and Shower Door measurements: 2 days after Jose finished the grout, we had our shower door measured to fit. We ended up choosing a frameless door, which is more costly than a framed door, but we just like the look. Since it had to be cut to fit the measurements, it was going to take a week to get it back and we scheduled a time to have them come back and install. (The following Saturday). The other task that day was to add the shower trim (shower head and handle). All the pieces were in place to make it look like a shower! Day 8 - Shower door: It was very interesting to see how precise the emasurements had to be to make our door 'appear' to look straight, when in fact that the house has a bit of a lean to it. Great job by these guys. Overall, we had a great experience working with Larry, Jose and all the other contractors Larry used on our shower. We ended up with a great space in our bathroom that we now enjoy using. We will definitely be calling Larry for any future needs.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of our Master Bathroom Shower. We didn't move the shower or change the location of the drain, the only thing that we wanted extra was to raise the ceiling height. It took 8 days of effort and a duration of 3 weeks to complete the job. Demo Old Shower - Complete tear out of shower. - Raise ceiling of shower ~3 ft. - Remove old curb - Clean any visible surface mold - Remove old exhaust fan Build New Shower - Install roofing felt - Install cement board (using screws, not nails) - Waterproof all seams and corners of cement board - Create new, lower curb - Install new tile (cost of tile not included in estimate) - Add custom niche - Grout (starquartz - waterproof and colorfast) - Install new water fixture (cost of fixture not included in estimate) - Add new exhaust fan - Install new frameless shower door (cost and install of door not included in estimate)

I was very pleased with the work. All of the sub contractors were here on time and performed the services professionally. Larry was on hand at every instance to oversee the work. He even went above and beyond his responsibilities to help me with some other small matters that I needed done.
Description of Work: Pull-out shelves were installed in the kitchen cabinets and drawers were added where a trash compactor had been. In the bath a corner shelf unit and a pedestal sink were removed replaced by a custom vanity with marble top.

We have lived in our home for 6 years. We moved in after building it and have not had the floors professionally cleaned other than our normal day to day cleaning. After having them cleaned by Grout Doctors/ Bazillion Floors, they look exactly like than the day we moved in! We are so happy with the results. Larry gave a complete and itemized quote with each area of the home and price broken down. It was nice that we could choose what areas we wanted cleaned and could save others for another day, however, we decided to have all our areas treated. The crew (Larry, David, Miguel & Pancho) were all fantastic! Miguel and Pancho are very hard working and pay attention to detail. They went above and beyond by filling in missing grout, re-caulking in bathrooms. They also were great at making certain we were happy as they were completing the job. I wish all contractors cared like they did! The final invoice was the exact same amount as the agreed upon estimate. We are so happy with the job they did and look forward to using them again in the future!
Description of Work: Cleaned and sealed counters/vanities in bathrooms Cleaned and sealed travertine floors Cleaned and sealed marble floors Cleaned and sealed tile floors Cleaned and sealed showers and tub surrounds in bathrooms

Larry and his crew did a great job on our floor! The work was done on time and under the estimate given. Larry even helped me move furniture after the work was done.
Description of Work: Travertine tile floor had to be resurfaced due to improper finishing during installation and portions of the perimeter grout had to be corrected as well.

It was great. Larry was professional and prompt. He payed attention to detail at every step of the job.
Description of Work: Larry carefully inspected my showers to determine what they needed to be restored. He even made a few suggestions that I could easily do myself to save money. He removed and replaced caulking and grout where necessary. He also replaced the old shower door seals. He cleaned the floor of my showers and tubs of mineral stains. He applied a non-skid finish to my walk-in showers to make them less slippery. When he was done my 16 year old showers and tubs looked like new. He also patched some of my floor tile throughout my house.

As stated above, he returned my phone call the same day and was told to send me photos of the work to be done. He responded by instructing me that I could save money by using a solution that would take care of the problem and if I was not happy with the results he would be glad to give me an estimate.
Description of Work: I called to get an estimate on cleaning /refinishing my shower stall.

The grout repair work was done quickly and efficently. He even determined that the previous repairman had washed the tile scraps and grout down the drain after a pan replacement several years ago.
Description of Work: We needed to repair a problem with shower that we thought had a pan leak. After Larry checked on the problem, he determined that we just needed to regrout the shower floor tile and clear the drain.
