On Call Electric Service

The company quoted and started the job with no issues, but would never come back and finish the job. We made the mistake of paying him up front for almost all the work ahead of time, leaving only a few hundred on the table for the finish. He kept giving us a date that he would show up and finish the job, then would call with all kinds of excuses and reasons why he couldn't come. We ended up having to hire another electrician to finish the job leaving us with an additional $600 bill. We got an attorney involved who wrote him a letter and produced all the documentation of what money he owed us for having to hire another electrician. he promised to pay us the money, even faxed this letter to the attorney with a date that we would receive the check. It was all another lie, we have still never received the money. My husband had worked as a plumber and had known this guy for several years and knew that he had done this to other people, but yet did not figure he would actually do it to us as well.

This is a family-owned company, with mom Cheryl answering the phone, and sons Chad and Walt (I think that there are two other electricians, but these are the ones I met) doing the electrical work.  I found them on Angie's List and when I called, it was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, AND it has been a season of flooding, so On Call had a lot of work that they were already doing in other cities around Nashville.  It was a recipe for us having to wait until Tuesday to have things fixed. But Cheryl said that they'd try their very best to get here today for us.  She was so kind on the phone and obviously wanted to help us.  I was surprised and so happy when Chad called at 1:30 in the afternoon to say that they were a few minutes away.  They came and within a half hour, they had found the reason for our light and fan going out in the bathroom, fixed it, changed the bulbs as needed, made sure the lights on our porch (which had also gone out) were working, and fixed two exterior bollard lights requiring new wiring.  And they only charged me the service call fee.   I just can't say enough about this business.  They're my ONLY go-to electricians for the future, and I'd highly recommend them for any kind of electrical work.  Thanks, Angie's List!

We have used them several times. The price is very fair. They are really nice people. I feel like they are really honest. If the job takes longer than they thought, they won't charge you more than they said they would. It is a family business, so you are paying the people who show up to do the work. They are very knowledgeable about problems related to old houses, like old wiring. They are generally careful about appearances. Other companies that we have had contact with don't know how to deal with plaster walls. They try to do things that are really unsightly to avoid drilling through plaster. They are fast. They do things that could take someone 3 weeks, all in one day.

We will only use Chad and Walt from On Call for our electrical work. We have an old house that we have been slowly renovating ourselves, including a lot of electrical work and upgrades. After having terrible experiences and throwing our money down a hole with two of the big-name local electrical companies, we were lucky to find on-call. They are very experienced at working on old houses and know how to work with plaster and lathe walls while doing a minimum of damage. They get here on time, get to work, work hard, and do quality work. They are very friendly and professional. They are truly nice people that you would like to have as friends. Even better, their prices are really fair. I am always amazed at the great prices for how hard they work. On Call is a small family business, so we feel good supporting them and they have never let us down. Their work is top notch and we trust them in our house.

On Call Electric didn't keep coming or follow through on anything. They used poor quality parts. I had to eventually let them go. The guys that came were good, but were pulled off our job to go other places.
