Have tried many times to contact this person to confirm if it was our company he had an appointment with because our records don't indicate that a [member name removed] was ever scheduled. This doesn't mean that we still didn't drop the ball but at least would like the opportunity to apologize if we did.

One of 3 estimates that we got. One of the owners came out to give me an estimate for 6 windows. He was completely honest with me and I ended up having 17 windows done. I felt he was trustworthy and truthful and didn't try to up sell me to a costlier product. Job was started within the time specified and completed in 1 1/2 days. John Hughes came out with his crew and introduced himself. I was impressed that he had a letter from the company introducing him also. He explained everything they were going to do and showed me how the product operated. They were very thorough and cleaned up after the job was completed to my satisfaction. I would definitely use CRS Exteriors again for any work I have.

They arrived on time and began to work immediately tearing down the siding and replacing it almost all in one day. The next day there was a slight problem with the window blinds not being able to be replaced as originally thought but all came to a workable solution. The window was replaced and all went very well. So pleased with the work. Will have to have them back for another window I discovered yesterday.

The salesman and the estimator, who turned out to be one of the company owners, we're highly professional. We have selected this company out of three that we met with! And since we cannot be here during the install, . I will report back after we return.
Description of Work: Ordered a new picture window and a new storm door. The estimator also noticed damage to our siding because the window was leaking plus a lack of proper flashing and trim on our existing sliding doors. We bought the house knowing it would need work, and we are glad to have found these folks! I will repost after they actually do the install, but so far their professionalism has been outstanding.

It went great. They showed up on time and did a nice job getting everything done in one day. They had a very professional crew consisting of three workers and one supervisor, John Hughes. John - JR - introduced himself to me and did a nice job of making me feel at ease. I had asked that they complete the job in one day since I didn't want to have to take off an extra day of work. They worked all of the inside tasks first so that they could come back the next day and work the outside without me having to be there. As it turned out they were able to complete the entire job in one day. Top of the line product. I'm very happy. Also, this upgrade was done in conjunction with a TVA Energy Right home audit. CRS completed all the paperwork and returned it to TVA in a very timely manner.

Carl the installer was in charge and kept the job at a steady speed. Paying xtra attention to installin flashing that was missing prior to installing new siding. When working on older homes a good installer never knows what he's going to find. But Carl and his men were able to work around and fix everything prior to installation.

On 04-23-13 I paid the CRS salesman $3400 as a down payment to put siding and rain gutters on our home . He advised they would start work in approximately three weeks and certainly by the end of May or the beginning of June they would be underway. Well May came and went and no contact from CRS but they had my down payment in their pocket. I finally called them in early June and was told several things on several occasions. One was that a work foreman had a heart attack, two the weather wasn't cooperating, three they couldn't get the right color coil stock (aluminum for the fascia and trim) and four that a crew had quit on them and they were short staffed. I was then told they would begin work in late June and a week later I was recontacted and told they decided to hold off until after the July 4th weekend. They finally began work on July 8th. I was promised by the salesman there would be at least three workers each day. The first day there were two workers and the second day only one showed up. To his credit he worked all day very hard but progress was certainly slow. The third day there were the two workers and two helpers. The helpers were very nice people but certainly not skilled like the two installers. The helpers made several mistakes including damaging my new roof and several times the foreman had to stop work and redo what had been done incorrectly. I was really glad the foreman caught the mistakes and corrected them. He supervised the job very well. As the job progressed the salesman came by on a few occasions. At one juncture he complained that he didn't bill me for some of the work which had to be completed on the far end of our home. He acknowledged we had talked about this work but he then proclaimed he had neglected to figure in the cost. He ended up saying it wasn't much in cost and he would not charge me extra but by time he left that day I felt very poorly. When I first discussed this job with the sales rep. on his second or third visit we talked about the rain gutters, spouts and gutter guards. I told him the gutter system I presently had on our home was covered with a leave protector/guard so leaves did not get in the gutters. He commented on the many large trees in my yard and it was agreed that rain gutter guards would be installed. At the end of the job when it was time to install the gutters the salesman denied any discussion about the gutter guard and said he would not put the gutter guard on unless I paid the company another $1000. All throughout this job the salesman seemed to be very good about forgetting what he promised in the beginning meetings. One promise he made was he would not charge me a penny more than what the original contract specified. This promise obviously was one he did not honor and I found myself being forced to pay extra for what I felt was promised when I agreed to give him this contract. The written contract mentioned gutters but he did not specifically write gutter guards so it was his word against mine. I lost. When the job was completed I went to pay the salesman with a credit card. I was told in the beginning this form of payment was acceptable. The salesman balked about paying with a credit card and instead wanted cash. He finally allowed me to pay with the credit card but only after he made me feel terrible about paying in this manner. I was very upset with his style and demeanor and what was to be a positive separation turned very uncomfortable. I should also mention that when the job was done I also noticed the trim work was wrong and found they had used two different colored aluminum trims on the doors and fascia. If you remember before mentioned I had been told they couldn't start the job originally because they were delayed and waiting for the right colored trim. Well despite the wait for the correct trim I still ended up with two different trim colors instead of the singular color which I had ordered. About a month and a half later later I found that rain water/run-off from my sun room roof was streaming down in back of the new gutters and causing a water stain which was quite noticeable. I called the salesman. He and another representative came to my home to evaluate the issue. In the beginning I was promised over and over again that they guaranteed all work that was done. I unfortunately had another commitment and could not be present. My wife met with the two of them and showed them the problem. They told her it was because I had a flat roof over the sun room and the water was seeping under the shingles and in back of the new gutter. When my wife told me of her exchange with them I was surprised as I don't have shingles on that roof but instead have flat rolled roofing as is appropriate for a flat roof. There is no leakage inside the sun room thus I do not believe the problem is a leak in the roof. I did go up on the roof and I do not see any place where the roof is perforated or in a condition that would allow water to seep under it. Perhaps they are correct but I don't see it. The second representative who was present then told my wife that the perceived leakage in the roof could have been caused by an acorn that had fallen from a tree on the roof and made a hole thus causing this problem. I was absolutely amazed that an answer like that was given especially since I personally inspected the roof and did not find any perforation. The excuse of a falling acorn to me was beyond belief. My wife than asked if the sales representative would give me a telephone call later in the day when I returned so we could discuss the issue. The sales representative told her no and that if I wanted to talk to him that I should call him. So much for being concerned about the customer. To top it all off, as the two men left the sales representative turned and asked my wife if I had written an evaluation of the work and if I had submitted it to Angie's List. My wife answered that I had not because we had been very busy. His final words to her were, "If he doesn't have anything good to say than perhaps he shouldn't say anything". This response to me was pretty outrageous. The statement upset my wife and really wasn't called for. All in all and as a result of the hard work and excellence of the man installing the siding the job ended up fine. I don't particularly like the different colored trim but I will live with that. As far as dealing with the sales representative which dictates my feelings about this company...... I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy no less a friend or a person reviewing on Angie's List. If you are reading this evaluation and still decide to hire these people I would strongly suggest you be very careful. Make absolutely sure you require them to put everything specifically in writing. I found the sales representative to be rude, unprofessional and certainly less than honorable. I unfortunately was never contacted by any of the company bosses inquiring as to my satisfaction and evaluation of the work conducted. Thank You for your candid review. I am sorry there were so many communication issues with your home improvement project. We at CRS try very hard to explain and document every step of your project beforehand so there are no surprises for you or us at the end. We try to be perfect at this but sometimes we fall short. The salesman you speak of, has represented CRS very well in the past and has not been reviewed like this with any of his previous customers, so to say I am shocked is an understatement. We have already had in house training with all my sales people to make sure this doesn’t occur with future projects. You mentioned in your review that you were never contacted by any CRS boss’s. I would like to clarify upon that. The second representative you speak of in your review was actually one of the owners, who was at your home six times and you were present at most of those. We as owners are very hands on and care a great deal about your happiness and satisfaction. We have a lot of employees and their families that depend on us to be actively involved in every aspect of our day to day operations. I have gone over the signed sales agreement and do see where guttering was to be installed but see no documentation of leaf relief to be installed. Some people may think they are one in the same but in reality it’s two different items. Obviously this is where this misunderstanding took place and I’m sorry for that. In the future we will make everyone aware of this. Thank you for the kind words about my installers, I am very proud of them myself.

The initial consult went well and the wait period for the windows was reasonable. Installation went well. It could have all been done within the same day but the door was ordered incorrectly and had to be reordered. So had to wait another 3-4 weeks for the door. The installation team was good. They arrived on time and completed the work quickly. They seemed very experienced and professional. I would use them again. The price seemed high, but then everything seems expensive these days especially when buying windows/doors. I've had other windows replaced in the past by other companies..so CRS was in line with those prices. The only issue I had was they ordered the wrong door...thought they should have done a free installation or something for the longer wait and inconvenience. Businesses should do that for customers...especially when they have caused the problem/delay. Do something nice for your customers even if it's a small thing.

This is our second experience with CRS Exteriors and it was as flawless and professional as before. About a year ago CRS replaced all the windows in the back and side of our home and replaced our back patio french door. We were now ready to complete the replacement of the rest of the windows and our other French door and we knew we wanted CRS Exteriors to do the work. From sales to installation, the personnel from CRS Exteriors has customer satisfaction as their number one goal. When time for the installation , they were punctual and worked diligently to complete the task within the allotted time frame and the project manager was exemplary in his attention to detail to ensure that the job was done correctly. The Marvin products installed are lovely and such an improvement over what we had. I would highly recommend using this company for any project that falls under their expertise. You won't be disappointed.

The gutters were larger than the original ones and had better anti spill-over guards and larger down-spouts. The deck boards were removed revealing a good frame which was then extended an extra 4 feet in width and re covered with 2" X 6" PT boards. the stairs were also relocated from the front to the lower end making the easier to use by my old knees. A new railing was installed around the perimeter and the entire deck was stained. The outside faucets were not providing enough water flow for my pressure washer so they replaced both of them with new faucets with integral back-flow preventers. The crew showed up on-time every day until the job was completed and even worked overtime once. They were VERY professional and courteous and cleaned up after themselves daily. At the end of the job they hauled off all of their trash and even some of mine.

The process was great from start to finish. Our salesman Dan was outstanding. He called when he said he would and always got back to us in a timely manner. He was both polite and professional and very friendly. He even gave us tips on how to contact TVA to get an energy assessment that may provide us with cash back. The windows came arrived at the time he said they would and the installation scheduler called us the day that Dan called us to tell us they were in. That was on a Thursday and they were able to start the job that Monday. The job took exactly the amount of time that they said it would. The installation crew was great. They worked at a good speed but took their time and did the job right. They were very respectful of working around our family and our schedule. They did a final walk through with us so that we could ask any questions or point out any concerns and they went above and beyond to make sure every window was caulked to our satisfaction. Dan, our salesman, called after they were finished to make sure everything went well. We even had him quote some additional work and he has followed up with us and called just to touch base. He has been wonderful! I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for windows. We are even considering having some additional work done by them (if our budget allows).

I also had a plumbing problem at the time which they also helped me with - brought in an expert who also did an excellent job. At a later date, I had them paint my front porch and put in a wrought iron railing. Dwight always kept me informed and if there was any delay, he called to let me know why. Met the sales guy Alan at their shop in West Knoxville then later at the home show downtown. He came out to the house and did the estimate. We did a little negotiating but it took some input from his boss to get the price down a bit. Still higher than the competition but we believe we received a better window. Olin came out to the house and did the final measurements so the windows could be made. He was very knowledgeable about the installation process. Scheduling the install was right on the estimated time about 4-6 weeks after they received the order and down payment from us. Dave and his crew of 3 were prompt and quickly started to work. Almost too fast as they started to demo before they had all of the carpet and floor protectors in place. Overall install was good. Sometimes they were getting ahead of themselves and had to reclean the windows after caulking. A little more pre-planning the work would have cut down on the rework and left a better finish caulking result. Some of the incidental woodwork scuffs and nicks could have been avoided if a little more care was taken during the removal instead of the apparent focus on speed. So far the windows are all functioning well and we are pleased with the results.

Dave and his crew did a beautiful, professional job. They made sure that everything turned out looking great, and that required some extra work since our house is older and had some problem areas. They also minimized the construction mess and left our yard looking better than it looked before they started.
