Guy showed up on time and started taking the back covers off the tv's one at a time. He got into one tv and there was a small plastic plug with about 10 or 15 wires burnt really bad and said that was the problem. Looked at another tv just like it and it was totally dead. Said he could make one tv out of the two of them. He went on to the next tv and found an electronic board in there with a few capacitors that were swollen up and he said that that was the problem with that particular tv. So at one point he said that the board with the capacitors swollen up could be fixed by replacing that bad board in it for $80. So I asked him if that will fix it for sure. He said he didn't know, that it was impossible to tell without replacing the board and going from there. I told him that my insurance adjuster needed a final repair cost or a replacement cost. But he kept on saying that he didn't know whether or not that replacing that board would fix it completely. I then said that a new tv like it at a large club retailer was $498 and that he needed to either show that a definite fix was possible with a certain cost or recommend that it needs to be replaced, especially since he couldn't say that replacing one thing in the tv would definitely fix it. He ended up refusing to do this or report that lightning had hit the tv's or a surge even. So I said then what caused all this damage then? No real answer was given. I said to him then that I asked if you could come look at my tv's after the lightening hit my house and make the report for my adjuster telling the problem, repair cost or replacement cost and you said you'd done it many times before. So what's the problem? No real answer. This was on the third of five tv's to look at. I stopped him and asked him how much was the bill so far. He grumbled "$60". I paid him and threw his butt out of my house and told him to read his reviews here. And that is putting it very nicely compared to what actually happened. Real idiot to say he could do the job and come out looking like it was his first day on the job and had never done a report for an insurance company, and this was Doug, the owner of the company. He's is the type of young kid that you could imagine him sitting around all day gaming and if your daughter brought him over as her new boyfriend you'd throw him out and ground her for life. He was short with customers that called him on his cell phone while at my house, treating them like they were inferior because they didn't know what he thought he knew about tv's. Condescending is the word. I say that if you have a tv zapped by lightning, go buy a new one and pay for it out of your own pocket. Repairmen and insurance companies ain't worth it to file the claim. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE As far as Dougs response to what I have said, I see that he didn't bother to say here what caused the 3 tv's he looked at to have a problem if lightning didn't hit them. And too, I told the young genius that the other two, the ones he says had no problems at all, stank of a burning smell when you turned them on for a few hours. He never did that nor could have since he was in and out within the hour. He only tried to turn them on to see if they would turn on or not, thinking like a lot of people that if lightning hits something, it doesn't work anymore. I used to think that too. My insurance adjuster himself has corrected me on this mistaken idea. He says lightning surges vary from very slight surges from electromagnetic pulses causing erratic behavior and/or burning smells that can last for days or weeks until the thing burns out, to direct hits that knock out the appliance completely. He says he has had to pay claims for whole houses full of appliances that are damaged from surges like this that are from one end of the spectrum to the other, either working erratically to stinking to completely dead. File a false insurance claim? I asked him to write a report showing what he found wrong and repair or replacement cost. Simple thing to do, but couldn't do it because he has no idea what he is doing other than being a parts changer, and guys like this change out parts or electronic boards in this case, until they hit the problem, and at your expense. As far as the threat he says I made to him? He said he didn't want me to jump on him about the situation, meaning give him grief about it. I said if I was jumping on you you'd be laying there bleeding already. I asked him how much I owed him for what he had done up to that point, I gave him his money and told him to get the "F" out of my house and slammed the door behind him. So why if I did what he said I did, talk about pulling out a gun and shooting him, did I pay him his $60 bucks for the 3 tv's he looked at instead of just throwing him out without paying at all? He says he's honest? I never mentioned anything about a gun, shooting him or anything like that. And too, if I threatened him this way, why weren't the cops called? So basically, he says I'm a liar. If anyone wants this guy to come out and do business with this guy, good luck. You gonna need it. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE Today, Doug emails me and says this in his first email: "Liar Liar Liar Liar Liar Liar Liar Liar And I will let everyone know you threatened to shoot me because I would not file a false insurance claim." My response was: "Okaaaayyyyy" His next email read: "I went ahead and called metro and I will be filing a police report on the matter because of you threatening me and slandering my name." My response was: "Cool. Ill post these emails on your reviews as well. Customers love to hear about all of this. Of course my wife will be there to testify at my trial. She heard the whole thing as it happened. I guess you'll bring your witnesses as well?" My final response today was: "Where is the cops at? Right after I'm arrested, my attorney's going to have you arrested for filing a false complaint to the police and lying to them to get a warrant for my arrest. And I'll be posting that in your reviews too. You should take your medicine boy before you get your butt put in jail for a long time." Welllllll........I'm still waiting on the police to show up. What he didn't know was that my wife was sitting around the corner in the kitchen the whole time listening to the whole thing. This is what kind of honest businessman he is and you'll have to deal with if you call him up to work on your stuff. I screen captured the actual emails he sent me and posted them here as well. __________________________________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE I told this guy that the other two tv's, the ones he says had no problems at all, stank of a burning smell when you turned them on for a few hours. He says he has had to pay claims for whole houses full of appliances that are damaged from surges like this that are from one end of the spectrum to the other, either working erratically to stinking to completely dead. And as far as no sign of lightning surge? My insurance adjuster paid $2160 to replace the blower motor, controller board, transformer, and capacitor in my furnace. Why? Blower motor megged bad. Why? Burnt out windings, from probable surge. Three computers and two monitors found to be bad by reputable computer repair shop. Damage caused by probable surge. Alarm system and 9 camera security system both damaged and diagnosed by reputable security system company. Probable damage found to be caused by lightning surge. Directv dvr damaged and replaced by Directv. Escalated claim department replaces dvr that stinks to high heaven of burning smell. Magically, the smell goes away. Looks like to me that from what Doug is saying there can only be one thing going on here. I, along with all the other companies who looked at my furnace, alarm and computer stuff are liars and crooks. And, to top it off, my insurance adjuster must be an idiot too being that he fell for the whole thing. Also, Doug says that he has called all of his tv repairman buddies around town to warn them about me. What a guy. I just think it is strange that he waited two months to file a police report about this incident and it was on the exact same day that I posted this very review on him here. Hmmmmm.......... Doug works in mysterious ways. But very transparent.
