After cashing my pre-payment (for mulch) he did not show up for the start of the job 3 days in a row. I called each day to ask what was going on, but got no response until I left a voice mail on the 3rd day firing him and requesting a refund. He immediately called back and tried to restore confidence in his ability to get the job done. I asked for a refund of my mulch money OR if it could not be returned, I offered to pay him to deliver it and then another contractor would take over the job. For the next two weeks (and counting) I have heard numerous promises to bring over the refund (or partial refund) He has yet to show up on the appointed day. He made excuses why I could not come to his job site and pick up the refund. He claimed that a money order must have been stolen from my mailbox. I contacted the company where he claimed to have purchased the mulch and they denied having any large bulk orders from contractors and they were certain no large retail mulch sales at been made in the date range in question. The mulch was never purchased from that company.
Description of Work: This guy came to estimate a landscape maintenance job. He is the son of a friend and seemed to be a hard-working young man. He asked for $360 in advance to purchase 20 yards of mulch. He cashed my check at a liquor store and was never seen again.
