"Per our agreement with the customer, we were to work on Thursdays and Fridays until we completed the job. Unfortunately after circumstances changed for the homeowner, we were told to hold off on the project, and we were no longer allowed to work on the agreed-upon days. Instead, the homeowner demanded that our installation staff work solely on weekends to complete the work. Though this is extremely unorthodox, we performed the work on Saturdays to complete the job. When our staff is only allowed to enter the house on a handful of Saturdays, these scheduling issues will certainly cause a significant delay in the project. Part of the scope of the work involved removing the existing cabinet doors, sanding them, and repainting them. 3 weeks after we had fully completed the job, the homeowner informed us that she was refusing payment because she was unsatisfied with the cabinet doors. While we believe that the work was performed to the homeowner's satisfaction the first time given that she watched the installation and brought no objections for weeks, we immediately removed and repainted them again - no questions asked. If the homeowner isn't satisfied, neither are we. Our firm has been responsive. The job was completed 1) to the high quality level that we hold ourselves to and a standard that has been publicly acknowledged by the homeowner, 2) for the agreed-upon price, and 3) under the constraints imposed by the homeowner. Unfortunately, this client feels this is unsatisfactory service. We stand by our work and our customer service. While not every job runs perfectly to schedule without issues (it is construction after all), we always strive for 100% customer satisfaction and to meet every reasonable customer expectation and request. This customer's last request to delay payment of the final balance for 4-6 months, however, is not one that we feel is reasonable. Our requests for payment have clearly created dissatisfaction, which we find unfortunate given our efforts and numerous exceptions allowed on this job."
"Glad to hear that you had a great experience. We hope you are enjoying your new kitchen!"
"Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed working with Steve and Timmy. They loved working with you as well and can't wait to start on your next project!"
"Thank you [member name removed]! We are pleased to hear that you like your kitchen. Thank you for the feedback - we will continue to improve our communication and appreciate your patience."
My lasting impression was that I was treated with respect by both the Minimax staff and the sub-contractors. They were always responsive if I had a question.
The undermounted sink doesn't fit the hole they cut in the countertop for it. There is overhang on the top and bottom of the sink and underhang on the sides. The curves at the four corners are not smooth. They drilled the hole for the faucet too close to the sink, so the sink had to be taken off and have a notch ground out of it to fit. It was a new faucet, new sink and new countertop, they had everything at their shop prior to installation, yet nothing seemed to fit.
I now have countertops with seams in them where they kept glueing more onto the edge of the countertops, then cutting some off, etc. The finish was so inconsistent (dull in some areas, shiny in some areas) I talked them into coming back to try polishing everything to get it consistent. It's better now, but the edges and corners that they reworked several times don't look like the other surfaces.
The last offer I got from them was that if I purchased ANOTHER set of countertops from them, they would do better and give me "a contractor's discount price".
"First of all, we were never sell to or contracted by the consumer, Member. We were contracted with Rick’s Home Repair to provide a kitchen countertop for his customer, Member. Rick called us to measure for the countertop after cabinet installed early December 2011. We went out and took template for the countertop right away. But, between our field measure and the date of installation, they change the cabinet and added more at the end by the knee wall without informing us. The countertop we fabricated and took out to install did not fit the new configuration. We had to bring the countertop back to our fabrication shop to make changes. As far as the sink concern, the contractor Rick installed the sink himself and didn’t come out right. We have to make another trip to do our best to correct his mistake. We ran into the refrigerator door issue which was not informed as well at the other countertop. The contractor asked us to make the top with normal finish at the open end next to the refrigerator which was not at job site when we measured. After we install the countertop, they brought the refrigerator in and called us to change the countertop to allow extra room for their refrigerator door which swings out a lot more than regular one. We had to bring that top back to our shop to modify and reinstalled. After we reinstalled the 2nd time, they want the refrigerator door to swing out even more which needs us to notch the corner of the countertop to make more room for the door. When we brought the top back to Member’s house the last time, our project manager confirmed with him that everything was to his satisfaction before our crew left. We have done a lot of extra work by not being informed with the changes or correct information from the contractor. We made multiple trips to make this work since we want the consumer to be happy with our product and service and we also value our relationship with Rick’s Home Repair as well. Rick agreed to pay us some extra to compensate our time for the mistake he had. But, we have not being paid at all. When our owner visited Member to resolve the countertop issue, Member mentioned to him that they had lots of problem with the contractor. The cabinets were built on site with very poor quality and would need to be complete redone with a new set. We told him that the existing countertops won’t fit the new set of cabinets when they rebuild. We offer to give him a discount for the new countertop if he ordered from us. We suggest Member to get with Rick Home Repair to resolve the issue for the cabinet and countertop since we don’t have any contract with him direct. Unfortunately, Member cannot reach Rick at all. The contractor has run away from the job. We won’t be able to get Member a refund as he desired since he never contract us nor paid us a penny for this job. To this day, we still not get paid by Rick’s Home Repair for this job yet. We have tried to reach Rick more than dozen times and never be able to reach him either. While we sympathize Member and would like to help him, we are as much of a victim here at the same time. Again, we have to emphasize that we never have contract with Member. Member should take this issue to his contractor, Rick Home Repair who is the responsible party for all the work. We shouldn’t get in between our client and their customers for the issues."
