Grayman Climate Control In

In June, 2016 Grayman Climate Control Inc. performed routine biannual maintenance on our air conditioning system. The system was working fine when they began their service. Immediately after completing the service, the compressor locked up necessitating replacement of the entire unit. After initially offering a small discount on a new unit, the owner decided he had more work than he needed and walked away from the job leaving us to scramble to find a new air conditioner in 90 plus degree heat. If you use Grayman, you better hope there are no problems, because they do not stand behind their work.

The tech arrived earlier than scheduled--imagine that--and performed tests on the air conditioner in question. He suggested putting in refrigerant and said he would return at the end of the day to see if the unit was working properly. In no time, the house was cool again and when he returned, it was determined that the refrigerant was all that had been necessary and had corrected the problem. He could have just as easily told us we needed a new unit rather than putting in refrigerant, which would have cost us many more dollars. What a breath of fresh air it is to deal with professional, honest people! Any time we have HVAC issues, I won't hesitate to call Grayman!

As usual, I wasn't concerned even with freezing weather (and a cathedral ceiling making the house cold), because we've used Grayman for more years than I can remember. They come immediately when it's necessary or will come to the house later if you ask. They are great people, friendly, professional, and always do it right. They are the best.

Our vacation home was in need of a new HVAC system. The home also has heavy vacation rental use during the very hot summers of South Carolina. The system really struggled to keep the house cool. Various HVAC contractors has recommended replacing the system but they also determined that the original ductwork was poorly designed and installed. We asked for quotes from Grayman and other HVAC companies. Grayman was thorough in their recommendations and gave us various options on systems and ductwork. Much of the communication was long distance as we live out of state. In researching the various options they gave us, we questioned whether it made sense to go top of the line for efficiency. Given the nature of short-term rentals, they advised against us paying the addiitional costs. They could have upsold us but didn't. While we were not present during the installation, it seemed to go well. Since purchasing the home, we had been under the impression we had a 2-zone system (although it didn't really seem to function the way we would expect it to). While replacing the ductwork, they discovered that, although the original ductwork had been set up for 2-zones, dampers had been screwed open and wires cut so there was no 2-zone. Since installation, we've gotten reports that it is much quieter while it runs and is very effective in heating and cooling.
