Joe's Garage Auto Sales and Service

I've used them a couple of times, about three or four times since I checked him out on Angie's List. They do a good job but they are pricey.

It went very well. He is an owner/operator. It is a small, clean, and organized shop. He is not the cheapest in town, but he is reliable and close to where I live.

Great work. Pleasant people.

Joe is the most professional mechanic I have ever dealt with for service. I totally trust him which is important since I know that mechanics can pad prices or simply not know what they are doing. Even with an oil change, I know that if he tells me that I have a leak or I need brake work, I can believe him. I know I pay a good price for this service, but his experience and expertise is well worth work an extra $10 bucks.

We drove from Austin, TX to Mt Pleasant for Thanksgiving week. Out vehicle is 11 years old and has 225K miles on it. We got there fine, but on Tuesday evening of that week, it began running and idling very rough. I had a similar issue back home the month before and an ignition coil was replaced. I knew it was probably another coil but the challenge was finding some place that could do the work in time for us to leave on Saturday. I checked with a couple places on Tuesday evening but no one really seemed all that interested in helping. I called Joe's Garage on Wednesday morning. He said that he could definitely take a look at it. The only caveat was there was a diagnostic fee. Normally I'm not a fan, but if the fee keeps down the volume and allows them to deal with serious customers, then I'm all for it. I dropped it off and within an hour had a callback with a breakdown of my issues. He said that he could definitely get it done that day, which was a good thing since they were closed the rest of the week. I was a little nervous about not having any support if there were issues after, but he was very matter of fact that they would fix the vehicle and it would be just fine for our 1300 mile trip back home. I had a call back from them by 2:30pm that my vehicle was ready. If I were home, I probably could have gotten it fixed for less, but given the circumstances and the dire need to get it fixed asap, I am extremely happy with all aspects of the service we got from Joe's Garage. And yes, we made it home without any issues!

Joe was, as always, very thorough when diagnosing problems with the car. He has been our mechanic for the last 8-10 years. While a little on the high side price wise, he get's to the exact cause of the problem every time and fixes it right. So we don't have any further issues after repairs are done. His knowledge of ALL cars is incredible and he is a straight shooting honest guy

All work was preformed in Joe's timely and professional manner at a cost that was reasonable and appropriate.
We have been a loyal customers of Joe's garage for, I believe 14 years. He repaired two Mitsubishi engines that dealers in Greenville and Spartanburg, SC, and Cary, NC could not. After he performed the 60,000 mile service on our Passat, the perfomace increased significantly. He expained that the cams on one bank of the V6 were out of allignment.
In my younger days, i was a mechanic and assistant service manager at a Ford agency. I apprenticed with a mechanic I thought was the best. I was wrong, Joe is the best and most honest I have encoutered. We are blessed to have him and I always recommend him to neighbors and friends.

Only concern I had was whether the pricing was a bit high.

I had gone to Firestone for tire rotation, and they said they noticed my brakes needed to be replaced, front and back. I wanted a second opinion and work right down the street from Joe's, so I took it there. They told me only my front breaks needed work, and they charged a lot less than Firestone's estimate. They had the work done in just a few hours, right when they said it would be done. They also did some work for me previously when I needed 60,000 mile service, and they were cheaper than the dealer's quoted price. I would DEFINITELY use them again.

I found Joe's Garage when I was looking for a used car and I needed a mechanic to check out the ones I was considering. I went to several garages with my prospective purchases. Joe's stood out because he took the time to really check out the cars and gave me a great report on the problems and potential problems of each car. He was very direct and to the point, I liked that. He helped me find a good used car and even gave me advice on the price. He made a very intimidating job (picking a used car) easy. Since then Joe's is the only garage I use. I know that they will check my car out and not only fix the problems I know about but they will discover the ones I didn't know about. They know my cars now and that really helps because I am not very good at keeping up with maintenance. I trust that if Joe says I need to do it, then I need to do it. Recently I had a big maintenance checkup done and they made sure everything was fixed properly and up to date with my car. I really was glad because soon after that I had an unexpected trip to a very cold place, I woke up in the middle of the night panicking about my car because I have never even thought about the antifreeze levels in the car. (I live in coastal South Carolina) But I soon remembered that Joe had checked and flushed my radiator and refilled it with antifreeze. I remembered it because I was thinking at the time I picked the car up "why do I even need antifreeze anyway?" It was great to realize Joe had my back and I didn't have to worry.

Joe was one of the few people willing to work on a 33 year old Alfa Romeo - and he was able to locate the parts I couldn't supply on short notice. He and his team did the work at a very reasonable rate and right on time. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for trustworthy professional work on domestic and foreign cars.

Our car was making strange noises so we took it to Joe. He inspected it and found the problem, and explained it to us very clearly. He never tried to sell any unnecessary service. He fixed the problem with our brakes and the cost was what he said it would be.

We got several bids and they were the middle priced bid. They were very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. They got it done right away. I would use the company again in the future.
