My dog managed to get locked in my car along with my keys and I had no spare set and it was over 90 degrees out. I called East Cooper Lock & Safe, Inc. as recommended by a neighbor and they helped me quickly assess whether or not my dog was in imminent danger, she was okay for the time being. The owner himself showed up within 15minutes and had my dog out of the car in less than 5min. All with a mother panicking and kids crying that the dog was going to die. Thank you Larry for being calm, quick and professional!

We just moved into a new construction house. The builder had already installed all the door handles and deadbolts. We just needed them re-keyd. I called for a quote and was surprised with a $60 service charge that was never discussed beforehand. Not a huge amount of money but obviously this type of business involves local travel so why charge $60 service fee? I had to pay this $60 twice since I had them come back to install more deadbolts. The builder installed all the deadbolts and door handle lock to match the lock position with the switches the same way. Easy to quicky check to see if the deadbolt and doors are in locked position with a quick glance. The installed said that "industry standard" was to have the lock position on the door handle lock to be "opposite" the direction of the lock position of the deadbolt and switched them all BEFORE asking us if that's what we wanted. With young kids, it would have been much easier to have the lock position match the same direction. We should have had the opportunity to decide if that's what we wanted before they just took it upon themselves to switch them all. Decided to have them add deadbolts to 6 more doors that the builder did not have deadbolts on. Assumed they would match the height of the other existing 11 door, right. Makes sense to match them or at least ASK what height you'd like them at if you don't plan on matching them? Apparently "industry standard" was different from what my 11 existing deadbolts were installed so they installed them much higher than all my other 11 doors that already had deadbolts on them. Would have been nice to #1-match what I already had or at the very least ASK first before drilling holes and installing them significantly higher than all my other deadbolts. Again, not a huge deal but it would have been nice if- #1- Let me know that there was going to be a $60 service/travel fee. I live within the service area. #2- Ask if we wanted all the existing door handle locks to be switched to be in the opposite direction of the deadbolts. #3- Ask if we wanted all the new deadbolts to match the 11 other excising ones before installing them much higher.

It went great. They cam e out very quickly and fixed the door in 10 minutes.

Robert arrived and was very personable, knowledgeable, and thorough in explaining the options available for our repair and purchase. Because of the need to order an item to fit our decor, our job was done in two appointments and he was very accommodating to our schedule. The work was completed to our100% satisfaction. Scheduling was easy, and our options for our new home were explained over the phone, including the call out/installation fee . Larry called first thing with an approximate arrival time. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and worked quickly. Larry also noted the lock on our front door was not installed properly, and fixed it free of charge. Competitive price. I used my Angie's List coupon as well. We will recommend EAST COOPER LOCK AND SAFE. We are considering replacing door hardware in the future, and will call EAST COOPER LOCK AND SAFE for an estimate. Thanks Larry!

Based on the recommendation from Lowes, and based on the favorable reviews here on Angie's List, I recommended East Cooper Lock & Safe to re-key a recently purchased home for my friend Gale. Five(5) doors, keyed dead-bolts, all different keys! Poor kid was lost! As the locksmith explained to Gale, the price per re-keying was $12, but because she had so many, she was given the rate of $10 per lock. Cool! The locksmith then suggested that several of the locks ought to be swapped out for new ones (for security reasons) at some point in the near future. The locksmith compared the $10 re-key cost to the cost of the new lock ($17-21). Because of this, Gale opted to purchase 4 new locks and have the remainder re-keyed. Saving money, increased security, why not? At the end of the visit, she gave the locksmith her credit card for the work performed. Two days later, she was emailed the receipt. This is where the rub starts. There was ALSO an installation charge for each of the new locks on the receipt. This had never been mentioned by the locksmith, so the comparison he gave her was really not, so to say, "apples to apples". She immediately called the office of East Cooper Lock & Safe, and was told that she should have noticed that an installation fee was on the sheet. What sheet? The locksmith had never shown a "sheet" with all the charges. Being rather argumentative, the office provided that there is always an installation charge. Gale now wonders if 4 locks needed changing, as she was deceived about the fees. At a minimum, she was deceived by the locksmith not disclosing the full costs up front. East Cooper Lock & Safe may have a good reputation, but this time they did not live up to expectations. Yes, buyer beware. But, this is not the way we treat new comers to the low country!

Provider was able to come out the same day service call was placed and the work was completed in a timely and professional manner.

I called these guys at 7:45 in the morning and to my surprise got a live person! I wanted my new house re-keyed as soon as possible and these guys were at the house within a few hours and got the job done quickly and professionally for a very fair price

I just bought a new home on May 9, 013. I needed my house rekeyed and so I called East Cooper Lock and Safe the next day. Since their website said that they are open from 8:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday, I assumed that I would have to take time off work for them to rekey the house, I was pleasantly surprised when they said they could come out the next day on Saturday. I asked if they could come out at 2:00 pm or after on Saturday. They said that they could definitely do this and that the locksmith would call before coming out. The locksmith called at about 2:25 to let me know he would be at the house in about 15 minutes. The locksmith rekeyed 4 doors, including the front door, back door, access door to the garage, and a french door. He checked out all the doors to make sure the locks were working properly and discovered there was a problem with the deadbolt not going all the way in on the front door. He went to his truck, got his drill, and fixed the problem. The total time the repair and rekeying took was about 45 minutes. I would definitely reccomend this company to anyone looking for a locksmith. They were punctual, professional, and were thorough with their work. I would use them again.

I called East Cooper Lock and Safe on the day after Thanksgiving. Thought they would be closed, and that I would have to leave a message. Not only did one of the locksmiths answer my call, he made arrangements to come to my house within the hour. We discussed the extent of work to be done, and he gave me the total cost. He was polite and punctual. He also honored my Angies List coupon! Would definitely call East Cooper Lock and Safe again.

We were very pleased with the service. Quote was efficient (via email) and accurate based on the work performed (re-keyed a door). Service call was on time and speedy. Quality was very good. We wouldn't hesitate to use this company again.

We called to get door locks changed after moving into new house; technician arrived on time and did the job

The locksmith showed up on time, asked me to show him all the doors that need the locks changed. He worked on his own and was very quick, but when he ran into an issue with one of my door knobs, he let me make the decision on whether to replace the whole thing or leave it the way it was. It was a new home and the dead bold would work, but for what ever reason the door knob was a different model than all the other locks and in order for one key to work through the whole house, that knob needed to be replaced. He ran to his office and picked one that would match, but wasn't exactly what I had before. It was fine with me though. This was all on a Sat, so I was just happy to get it fixed and over with. I also like that they have emergency service if you lock yourself out. I will be using them again the next time my locks need changing.

Originally they had given me a window that they would be there between 9 and Noon, but they would call first. They called me early and I met them out the house. Billy worked really fast and was very nice. It took only about 45 min. which amazed me. Billy even pulled out his drill and adjusted the plate so our "problem" door was no longer a problem. This is our first house, and this was a great experience. I would definitely recommend them.
