He tried different the simple solutions first until he found the source of problem. since i was not a there during repair he sent me a video of his repair he done at my house! + -1 moreTed was flexible to schedule for my convenience. The old system was removed and new system installed in a single, long day. Not bad considering a flue pipe had to be run for the new furnace. My wife and i were comfortable with the professionalism of the installation team. Weather has provided a test for both heating and cooling, and after 2 months, all is working well.
Description of Work: Central A/C heatpump died. Ted provided ideas and quotes for a range replacements. I went with a Trane 16 seer system with natural gas furnace.

+ -1 moreIf I had not missed Mr. Cook's call I would have had same day service. After we talked, he arrived as scheduled and got the cool air going again. My unit is pretty old and he probably could have pointed out lots of things to fix, but he did only what what needed. I will certainly use his service again.

+ -1 moreTed was very busy that day. I expected him to call it a day at 7pm and come to fix my heat pump the next day, but he still showed up even though it was getting late. It took him about 10 minutes to diagnose and fix the problem. He stayed a little while longer as we chatted. I definitely would recommend him and would use him again.

+ -1 moreOverall, it went great. Ted is a man of his word and it was obvious to me that he wanted my system working correctly just as much as I did. There was an issue with one new component and Ted, after a very long evening working on it (Ted is not one to back down from a challenge), he decided to replace it again immediately. Having his crew come back out for a few more hours during such a busy season, had to be a hardship for him. That didn't matter, he "made it right" and did it quickly. Speaking of his crew, it would be tough to meet a friendlier, more respectful group than they were. So if you can't tell by now, I'm glad I chose Ted Cook for the job. He's the kind of guy you want in your foxhole when times (or the weather) gets rough.
Description of Work: Replaced Heat Pump, Air Handler, thermostat & installed one new vent with duct.

+ -1 moreThe price is included in the purchase price of the unit. The Trane unit is more expensive but it encourages people to get the service done. They base their reliability on the regular service and it voids the warranty if you don't get the service. They are responsive when I call but they are not good about coming out when they say. They're very responsive but not punctual. I'm always worried it's going to void my warranty when they don't come out.

+ -1 moreTed Cook is THE BEST, MOST HONEST, MOST PROFESSIONAL, MOST KNOWLEDGEABLE heating and cooling guy in the upstate. I found him on Angie's List and his reviews were tough to argue with. After speaking with him personally, I was instilled with a great deal of confidence. He was able to assess our situation over the phone immediately, but came by for a free consultation anyway. He will not tell you what you want to hear; he will tell you the exact truth and offer only the appropriate solution, no exceptions. His understanding of Zoned systems in particular is likely the most extensive in the industry. His crew is also perfect, punctual, clean and courteous. If you have a non-variable system you may not need his level of skill, but you should have it anyway. If you have a zoned system and don't use him you are asking for future issues. We dealt with five other of his "peers" ( I use that term quite loosely) and they didn't come close to his level of competence. His price, while not cheap was very reasonable for the level of skill/equipment required for a zone system; I don't think the other Trane vendors can match it. We will use Ted for the rest of our HVAC needs as long as he stays in business. It was a pleasure from start to finish.

+ -1 moreMy air went out over night on Friday night. I called a bunch of different places on Saturday to see if anyone could fix it over the weekend. I got a call back from Ted on Sunday who said he was able to come out Sunday afternoon. He called when he was headed over to my house and arrived on time. He was very professional. He provided me with his business card upon to arrival to identify himself. He looked over my system and was able to identify the problem. He had the part in his truck and fixed it on the spot. His price was excellent as well! I was so thankful that he was willing to come out on a Sunday evening and fix my air! I would highly recommend Ted to anyone that needs HVAC repair.

+ -1 moreWorking fine now .... hope that from now to only contact Ted for any future needs having to do with our Trane system... we learned a very expensive mistake by not using Ted ? Cook's Trane Sevice / Installation Company to begin with... don't make the same mistake, call Ted Cook for your Trane system from the start. Honest and knowledgeable HVAC person and he won't steer you wrong!
Description of Work: Found out that the clowns that had been servicing own trane unit had not made sure that the copper lines had not been put back properly & this allowed the copper lines on the outside unit to "rub" hole in one of two ines causing the system to dump all the freon to atmosphere. Then while attempting to connect to the cold weather port... the clowns that had been servicing my our trane system at some point lost the valve that screws in to the service port. Well that bunch of clowns used epoxy to "seal" the port ... yep epoxy in a service port. Ted found this issue just by luck... needless to say that ruined this port period. So he had to cut out the ruined port and re-braze the line above & below where the ruined port was located... and then find a new port that could be added in after the fact so that in the event the unit had to be serviced in the winter months it could be done. So after performing minor surgery on the unit it is now working... again. Will never use the clowns again that used epoxy on a service port which should never be done. Will be sure to keep Ted's contact information on hand for all future needs and will never call or recommend the idiots that have caused so many needless and senseless repairs to our trane unit ever again. If you need a trane person be sure to call Ted first and never contact the clowns from Air Kool they will do nothing to "fix" a problem they will be sure to try to ruin your trane unit like they did ours. This is a fact that is documented. As I said never use Air Kool this company is the worse and have caused more issues then they ever fixed... those clowns should never be allowed to deal or Service or even mention that they service trane units but they are again shown as a trane service / Rep for this brand... call Ted instead because you'll surely experience the horrors we have been facing with any system the clowns @ Air Kool ever touch! Again call Ted from the start, we wish we had known better before we ever became associated with Air Kool ... huge mistake to have ever have dealt with Air Kool!!

+ -1 moreI called Ted on a Saturday, he called back within the hour, and met me later that day. He explained everything very clearly and said he would call for the price of the part Monday. After quoting the job for almost half of what FIVE STAR/TSC quoted, Ted came out and installed himself in an hour and we were good to go. Highly recommend and I canceled my service contract with FIVE STAR/TSC that day. Ted will get all my business to maintain my aging AC units.
