I first must explain that I am not normally the type of person to complain, and have to be seriously jilted to post the type of scathing review that is to follow. The incompetence and unprofessionalism of this organization is jaw dropping. HORRIBLE! This whole thing started when my wife called regarding an obnoxious noise made by our aging refrigerator. Seeing the great reviews on Angie's List, she called and made an appointment for a wednesday afternoon. I was the one who had to meet them at our house, so she gave them my number. The technician (we'll call him Joe) called me the morning of the scheduled service. He gave me a 5 hour window (between 1pm-6pm) of when he could be there, offering a 30 minute "courtesy" call before he comes. I politely asked if we could reschedule on a day when I could plan a more definite time, limiting my time of house arrest. He politely informed me that their business doesn't operate like that, that they fit us in whenever is most convenient for them. So I took a day off work. Joe showed up within the last hour of the 5 hour window. He did give me a "courtesy" call, telling me he would be there in 10 minutes. So I show up and show Joe my Refrigerator. He asks what the problem is, and I explain the noise in detail to him. He was courteous enough, put a piece of plastic down to drag the fridge over, so as not to scratch our hardwood floors. After he takes the back of the Refrigerator apart, he promises that the noise is being made by the fan motor, who's bearings have gone bad. He promised that if the fan motor is replaced, the noise will disappear. He charged me $65 for a service call, and told me that that fee would be deducted from any repairs that they render. On the invoice under the "Nature of Service Requested" line, Joe wrote, "Refrigerator makes noise when fan comes on". We scheduled a day for him to come back on that following Monday to replace the fan motor, which he promised me would eliminate the problem. After ordering the part, Joe called to quote me a price of $45 parts/ $45 labor. I asked him if the $65 aleready paid would be subtracted from that, he said yes. Once again, Appliance "UN"Professional wouldn't let me schedule a time for a call, and put me on another 5 hour window of house arrest that Monday (between 12-5). I had to take another half day off of work. Finally, a different technician (We'll call him Nate) shows up @ 4:30. After I explained the problem, he went to work on my fridge. I wasn't watching close enough, but unlike Joe, Nate did NOT slide my Fridge over a plastic platform. This action caused two deep grooves in my newly finished hardwood floors, which I didn't discover until after he left! Once Nate had finished the fan install, he gave me a bill for $113. When I questioned him about the bill, he tried to talk in circles, not explaining the charges. When I asked for a breakdown of expenses, he got defensive and claimed that "he was just the installer and didn't understand the billing." I therefore asked Nate to call down to the office and find out what the charges were. It happens that although they had deducted $65 for my original service call, they had also tried to tack on an additional $65 and not write it on the invoice. I warn anyone foolish enough to do business with these people to examine their invoice closely. My guess is that vague invoicing is standard practice for them. It ends up I was only supposed to pay an additional $48.50. While all of this was going on, I noticed that the fan motor was making the same noise it had always made. When I pointed that out to Nate he said that the noise was coming from the compressor and not the motor. By then I was extremely unhappy, and wanted him to call Joe for an explanation. When Nate called Joe and ask him, Joe said "I didn't notice a noise." Never mind that that WAS our original complaint and WAS referenced on the original invoice. Nate explained to him that the noise he promised would be fixed by replacing the fan motor was actually being caused by the compressor. Joe's excuse was that the fan motor "needed to be replaced anyway", despite the fact it was functioning perfectly fine. He then suggested to Nate that he try and sell me a $400 compressor. Athough very displeased, I paid Nate for the fan motor I didn't need, if merely for the fact that I didn't want to wait for him to put the old one back, and franlky, didn't trust him to competently do the job. These people have no idea how to run a business and have assembled a team of untrained monkeys.
Description of Work: I called complaining about a loud noise made by the fan in our Refrigerator, every time the cooling cycle begins. Technician came to look at it, told us that bad bearings in the fan motor was causing the noise, and motor needed to be replaced. Second guy came to replace motor, problem still exists.

Response from Appliance Professional
At Appliance Professional our #1 goal is complete Customer Satisfaction; we take pride in our staff and our installers and always try to accomodate our customers. We offer a 30 min. courtesy call so that the customer is not limited to staying at home as most of our customers are working. Our technicians are polite and well mannered and WOULD NEVER tell a customer that they would be fitted in when it is most convenient for our office. Our customers always come first and they are certainly treated with dignity and respect. We are sorry for your view of our service Ms. W, and would like to take a moment to share the details of your transaction: Ms. W called in two work orders. The first was on a very old refrigerator and the second was a dishwasher that was not draining. Because there were two appliances, as a courtsey, only one service charge was incrued. In reference to the work orders. The work orders are filled out by our office staff. The nature of the service request is documented exactly as the customer tells us. When a customer calls into the office they are quoted our service charge and flat labor charge which equals $110. This customer was not overcharged and was informed of all fees in advance. Our technician after a thorough investigation of the refrigerator, could not duplicate the problem. Based on the technician's experience and the nature of refrigerators, the most likely problem or cause would be a fan motor. For this reason, the fan motor was ordered and installed. After the installation of the fan motor, , the compressor started making a noise. The technician informed the customer, Mr. W that the only solution to that problem would be to replace the compressor. The customer was extremely agitated, rude and disrespectful to our employee. Our technician offered to remove the new fan motor but the customer declined. Our technicians are certified and attend yearly training seminars for updates on appliances. Appliance Professional, LLC prides ourself on our professional reputation and as you can read in all of our reviews on Angie's List, our ratings are always high. Should you have any concerns or questions regarding this complaint you may reach Nathan Woods, Service Manager/Owner at cell #: 803-467-0195.

The technician worked with me great to get a time convenient to me where I can leave work quickly to meet him at my house to have it take a look. After he found the problem, he went to take a look at a website from some supplier they had to see how much the pump cost. Luckily, he had a spare F&P pump in his truck and He told me that just the pump itself would be $150. I was a little shocked at the price, but I thought at that time it was maybe because since F&P is a foreign electrodomestics company. So I agreed to have him install the new pump. He finished quickly installing it and then he tried the washing machine on the and no more smell. It's almost a month and have had no more problems with the machine. The only I am very disappointed as you can probably see above is the price of the pump. I just found out on the Internet that the pump costs about $81. I feel like a sucker..They should change supplier or I suspect Appliance Professional upped the price. That's why I gave them a C for price.
Description of Work: There was a burning smell coming from My Fisher and Paykel washing machine during the rinse cycle. I called Appliance Professional LLC to get a technician to take a look at the machine on why the smell. They found out that the pump had a leak and thus, the electronics in the pump were getting shorted out.

Description of Work: Our icemaker did not work and our refrigerator was leaking water. The first serviceman that came fixed the leak and worked on the icemaker. He then ordered a new icemaker and when it came in another serviceman came and put it in. I highly recommend this company and would definitely use them again if needed.

The KitchenAid dishwasher, only just over a year old, died on the weekend, so I called Appliance Professional first thing Monday. The lady on the phone was nice and said that Wednesday was the soonest that anyone could come by and that he would call first to confirm. Wednesday morning, Joe called to say that it would be after lunch and when I asked him to make it later since we wouldn't be home until after 3pm, he said he would make it between 4-6pm. Turns out, he came about 5:30p. I was almost surprised, since by that time, I thought he would call to re-schedule for the next day. Joe was very professional and he checked the unit for what he called "the simple" solutions. He discovered a loose connection that he felt was caused by a poor installation. Our unit was quickly restored with NO parts needed! I have never been so happy to pay for a "service call" in my life! Should we ever need this type of service again we would call Appliance Professional right away. Also, I found them via Angie's List, which I now understand the reason for their high ratings!!!
Description of Work: KitchenAid Dishwasher totally dead-no lights.

The tech was fine and professional but I was annoyed at the time it took for a final fix because of waiting for the part.
Description of Work: The lock broke on my dishwasher so I couldn't run it. I called and made an appointment and gave them the model number so a new part could be ordered before the service call. They came out and reset the lock but that night it jammed again so I had to wait over a week for the new part to come in and the final fix.

The only thing I would add is that Nathan could have cleaned up the debris left on the floor. Otherwise we were more than happy with his service.
Description of Work: Our washing machine was stopping mid-cycle. Nathan, the owner of the company, called ahead of time and arrived right on time. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it very quickly, and was able to answer some questions we had about noises in the machine, offering that they probably could be eliminated but that it would be a step-wise process to fix the noise, and that it would not be worth the expense if we could tolerate the noise. He said that the noise was typical of our brand of washer and that it caused no mechanical problems. I found the absence of "up-selling" quite refreshing!

Guys(2) called in advance to let me know the 1 1/2 hour time period they would arrive and showed up as promised. They asked me first to describe problem with dryer and one of them immediately returned to truck and brought back new gear and promptly proceeded to fix dryer. In regards to the washer, once they undersood that the noise occurs during agitation they proceeded to investigate the cause and after some time announced that the front and back stabilizers were either worn out or badly worn and they didn't have replacement parts on the truck but could get them and return another day to repair the washer. They quoted me a price for fixing the washer and I told them I would call them when it was in my budget to have the repairs done. They said there would not be another $25 inspection charge added when they came to fix the washer in the future, since it was already included in the $145 I paid them before they left. OVERALL: Super Professional Service! PRICING: I was born in the 50's and I'm probably out of touch with costs today ... $120 dryer gear replacement ... Oh Well!
Description of Work: Dryer was making "loud whirring noise" and since I live in apartment became unusable. Washer would make loud noise once agitation started so it also became unusable.

I contacted the company and stated the problem I was having. I was given an appointment date for the following week and was told the technician would call on the appointment date between 8 - 9 am and given a time range when he would arrive. The technician called during the given time, provided an appointment range of time, and arrived within the scheduled time. When given the problem description the technician tested the suspect part and identified it as the problem. He stated the part would have to be ordered and should only take a week. The part came in and was replaced about 8 days later. The second technician arrived within the appointed time. Both technicians were very professional and courteous. I felt the price was reasonable and the service very good. I would use this company again.
Description of Work: The initial visit was to assess the problem. A part needed to be replaced that had to be ordered. The second visit, approximately eight days later, was to replace the part. The faulty part was an electrical switch to control the water removal from a dish washer. The dish washer was pulled out from under the counter and the part was replaced. The technician then stated the drain line was too short and he had to replace it with a flex line, which he had on the truck. The technician ran the machine through a cycle and stated the system was performing properly.

I called and was given an appointment timeframe, which they stuck to. Joe and Barry were punctual and professional in their work. They disassembled my machine, and replaced the bearing in the outer tub. Given the difficulty of the job, it took about an hour, during which time Joe and Barry were pleasant to talk with. They were professional in their care for my property, and in the manner in which they carried out their job. I would recommend them to anyone for any type of appliance repair.

My former appliance repairman has retired. When a problem developed with my washing machine, I selected Appliance Professional. LLC to call, based on reviews on Angie's List.. Left message in late afternoon, call returned next morning. Nathan arrived at time he'd said, identified the problem, fixed it ... and didn't give me grief for leaving finishing nails in my pocket which caused the problem to begin with! Gotta like a guy who can tactfully tell a woman she's caused her own mess! He was professional and diligent in clearing all the nails from the drum and drain system and even gave me a strong magnet for use in future projects (no doubt to keep nails out of my pocket). The charge was reasonable for the time it took to fix the problem, and I'll not hesitate to use Appliance Professional, LLC again.

I had another company replace the broken ice-maker in my freezer. After this was done, I had excessive ice build up in the freezer and tried everything to resolve this. I called the company back and was told that "nothing could probably be done to fix this". I called Appliance Professionals late on the afternoon of August 29th. My call was returned and I was told that someone could come out and check this problem the following day. Joe was the technitian assigned to come to my home. He called to let me know that he was on the way and was at my home as scheduled. Joe removed the ice from my freezer and adjusted the door so that it would close properly. He just charged $45.00 for the service call. My freezer has worked great ever since! Great job! I will surely use this company in the future, I wish I had called them in the beginning!

We first contacted Appliance Professionals LLC on July 26 2012 for the initial diagnosis. They were prompt and showed up ready to work. The dishwasher issue was diagnosed as a valve failure that had the dishwasher constantly "calling" for a draining operation, requiring a new valve. This was quickly diagnosed which was good, but then the service professional noted that the main control unit on the dishwasher was under recall. He then went the extra step of calling Bosch himself while at our home, giving them the information and then handing his phone to my wife to get the list of authorized Bosch dishwasher repair facilities around the greater Columbia SC area. Once finished with the phone call, he recommended 1 facility over the other facility available (only 2 facilities were authorized in the area). The valve had to be ordered but Appliance Professionals was very prompt in coming back out to complete the repair. They returned on Aug 3 2012 and finished the repair promptly. The overall price seemed a little high but saves us a new dishwasher cost and keeps what I know as a good product (Bosch) operational for the unforeseen future. The only area for improvement I can see is minor but worth mentioning. The scheduling procedure for this company is odd - they call and simply tell you when they will be there. Luckily my wife is a stay-at-home mom and has a fairly flexible schedule with 2 of 3 children in school now but at that time it was juggling a great deal of parallel plans in order to accommodate. They were somewhat accommodating though in making us the first appointment on Aug 3 2012 to complete the repair so my wife could maintain later plans for kids' activities.

This was our first experience with Appliance Professionals LLC. From start to finish, from the phone call on Monday to request service to the farewell handshake this morning after repairs were completed, we have been most favorably impressed. All too often I have been convinced by experiences that the concept of honest, capable, competent and courteous customer service was as extinct as the dodo among nearly all businesses. Appliance Professionals LLC showed me today what customer service ought to be, and once was. I recommend Nathan and Appliance Professionals LLC to any homeowner needing large appliances repaired.
Description of Work: Called Appliance Professionals LLC on Monday, 8/6/2012. Icemaker in my refrigerator/freezer stopped working. Jeannie scheduled Nathan for this morning. Nathan arrived as scheduled, was courteous and professional, and he soon had the problem diagnosed, then repaired. I was impressed by his knowledge AND by the fact the had the necessary parts in his truck. Should we need repair service for any of our other large appliances, we will call Nathan at Appliance Professionals LLC.

In addition to the execellent service, Nathan was professional, very personable, and respectful of our home. Thanks Appliance Professional LLC and thanks Nathan for a job well done. Angie M.
Description of Work: I selected Appliance Professionals, LLC because of their 100% customer satisfaction rating on Angie's List and I'm so glad I did. I placed a service call for both my dishwasher (which had completely stopped working), and my refrigerator (which had several small issues: door seam, leaking water, no ice in icemaker). Nathan came to the house and fixed our 20+ year old Frigidaire refrigerator and now it's working like new. The door seal fits properly, the leak has stopped, and the ice maker is full. However, to reapair the issues with the 10-year-old GE dishwasher wasn't worth the repair price and Nathan said so. Instead of trying to talk me into making costly repairs or trying to patch it, I'm very glad that he was straight-forward and honest.

Description of Work: Our electric dryer began making loud sounds when running. I called Appliance Professional LLC who was listed with Angies List. They came at the time we scheduled and made the repair at a fair price. The repairman was courtious and very knowledgeable. He put the "service" back into customer service.EXCELLENT!
Description of Work: We used our warranty with the company we purchased our dryer through to have Appliance Professional repair our dryer. It was no longer heating. I can't recall the name of our service man, but do remember that he went way above & beyond what I expected. Usually, when using a warranty, you expect to get minimal customer service. Not the case here! He took the time to show/explain what was the problem & how he was fixing it. As part of fixing it, he had to remove the "face" of our dryer & he took the time to vacuum out & clean the inside area although the dust/lint wasn't a "problem" according to him. He said that if someone was working on his dryer, he'd appreciate it cleaned up a bit. He also took the time to look at our washer (it's been giving off a bad smell) & advised me on how to avoid getting that smell. He gave me probably the best customer service I've ever had (especially with a warranty). We will absolutely give them a call back if we have any issues with any of our other appliances.

Joe was really punctual. He was also very professional and courteous and he has a great personality. He gave me a senior citizens discount of 10%. I didn't let him know that I was an Angie's List member until the end and he was very grateful. He gave me a sheet to fill out for Angie's List, but I misplaced it and decided to call to leave a review.
Description of Work: They came on Friday and they worked me in. They repaired my refrigerator and ice maker leak. He had to replace the water valve. He also changed the water filter. The water leak was pretty bad and a different company I called wouldn't be able to come out until Tuesday. When I called Appliance Professional, they said he'd have to change his route but he would be by that same day by 12:30pm. He called about ten after 12 to verify and he did show up on time.
