We called our Home Warranty Insurance and they notified Prestige Heating and Air. We I called at the start of the next day, I had called late the night before, they immediately told me the technician would be at our home that afternooon. He was here at 3 0'clock. He checked the compressor and determined that it needed a new part. He installed the new part and checked to make sure we were getting cool air, which we were. He was very quick and was gone within the hour. The technicians name was Bruce and we would definately ask for him again. We were very pleased with the service.

The installation seemed to be going well until they kept saying it would done at this time, then it wouldn't be. Plus when I went to pay for the work and wanted to check the A/C system, the foreman had to hook up the electricity to the air conditioner because the installers forgot to do it. Then I realized that I was supposed to get a new thermostat with the unit and it wasn't installed. They did come right out and install the new one but then tried to bill me for it. That was a hassle to get straightened out. This was not the worst part of the experience. Three months later I get a call from my tenant saying that there is a water leak in the hallway seeping up through my pergo floors. I go to check it out and find out that when the AC system was being installed they uncapped a drain line for the AC unit and didn't recap it. There were two drain lines in the closet, the active one with the old system and a capped off one that ran into the shared wall drain line that the upstairs condo also used. The installers cut the capped drain line and then used the existing drain line leaving the other one open. So, after a few months of slow water seepage that a tenant wouldn't notice unless they did work in that close, it got under my floors and ruined them. I called Prestige and they sent over a tech who took pictures and said that there is no reason for them to have cut that line. The tech informed me that he would turn the info over to his boss and I would get a call from his boss. Well, it has been about a month now and no call, and i have contacted them several times and was told by the person answering the phone that they would relay the message and I could expect a call. Still waiting. Off to fix my floors.

My home warranty company replaced my HVAC package unit in January 2002 and when I turned on the A/C in May, it didn't work. They called Prestige to fix it and I was told by the technician that the compressor was bad and they would have to order a new one to replace it. Of course, my home warranty wouldn't approve this - long story short, I was without A/C for over a month waiting on Prestige to take action with my home warranty company and/or return my calls. I finally called someone else (not involved with home warranty company) and in 5 minutes (and $50) he "jump started" the brand new EXISTING compressor, no problem. Prestige was the WORST and I would NEVER use them or recommend them to anyone else.

We have used Prestige through the home warranty company for almost 2 years and our problem is STILL not fixed. One of our units freezes up and ices over during the winter. The first time they came out they said it was fixed (after the tech told me it was "normal" for units to ice over which I knew was a lie from living up north were it snowed), and it iced over again the next day. They came out again (without calling beforehand) and fixed something but leaving our unit accidentally disconnected so had to come out the next day to reconnect. A couple days later it iced over again and we called it in again and I was informed that they could not arrange to come out after 3 pm and they would not promise to call me ahead of time since I complained before when they didn't call. So I stayed home from work and waited all day (and was dismissed from my job the next day because I was new and they were mad that I was out the whole day). They unhooked both ends of the coil saying they thought the problems were in there and they would have to leave it capped and come back the next day to check. They came back and measured the levels and it was the coils and they said they would have to order a new part. I asked the tech if we could still run emergency heat and he said NO. 48 hours later I called and the part had JUST been ordered. We went a whole week without a functioning unit in the dead of winter when it was actually cold out. I called the home warranty company to launch a complaint, and Prestige answered back (after the weekend was over) that we COULD run emergency heat. We tried and nothing happened. They FINALLY came back and put in the new part. After leaving my husband went out to check and they had left the wiring both outside and under the house unsecured which is a code violation. He resecured them himself. Then of course a week later the unit iced over again. And now in summer it does not cool like it is supposed to per the manufacturers specifications.

The price is per year for two visits. They are very quick and responsive. I will continue to use their services in the future and would recommend them to others.

They were the only vendor that I would not use again in the entire home remodeling process. I never knew when they were coming. They never showed up on time, and when they did, they had subcontracted some of the work out. The subcontractors, as well as their own employees, did not take care of our home. They tore holes where they shouldn't have, and they left their trash all over my house and yard. My contact was Todd, and I only saw him at my home one time during the entire process (even after MANY phone calls and complaints. No one was there managing the young guys that he sent. They were disrespectful and did not take any responsibility for the shabby work they were doing. I would not recommend them to anyone!! I never got an apology from anyone, only very defensive comments to my complaints. I ended up having to spend over $3,000 with my personal builder to go behind them and patch their mess.
